The Cross Keys in Flintshire

Excellent! We recently visited on recommendation, we arrived early, but they switched our tables around to get us seated. We ordered drinks and food, they apologised as there would be a wait for the food, but, we weren’t worried as we were early for our booking. All the food was excellent, couldn’t fault anything, lovely fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Certainly will return.

Excellent food. Courteous and welcoming staff and comfortable surroundings. Well worth the short journey from the Wirral. Will be returning soon.

Really Lovely staff and atmosphere, Went in but was unsure if we had to waited to be seated or just sit anywhere as nobody spoke to us when we came in. Ordered a Steak which was £25.95 I understand it’s homemade and sourced locally but there was quite a bit of fat on it and wouldn’t say it was worth the price, Lovely Food anyway just a bit expensive for me. Ended up paying £55 in total for 2 drinks (coke & cider) fish & chips & sirloin steak

We visited the Cross Keys during our stay at a local glamping site, Ty Uchaf Farm, which was a short walk away. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was great. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pub was busy so advisable to book if you’re eating. We loved that there was a bookcase with some small games available to use, so my son and I played Uno and could see other families were playing games - a great way to keep the kids (and adults) engaged and off electronic devices! Overall a fantastic local pub and definitely one I’d return to!

After a number of recommendations to try here, we booked in for Easter Sunday. Amazing The people, food, service and atmosphere was perfect for us. Have not had a meal this good for a very long time. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return. Thank you so much for a perfect evening x

Greeted very well. Very attentive. Food was delicious with generous portions. Very busy as Easter Sunday. Thoughtful in remembering it was one of the parties 80th birthday. Nicely decorated throughout.

Excellent quality food with fresh ingredients. Greeted by the Proprietor. Decor was lovely. Antique pieces of furniture and furnishings. An absolute gem of a place and will be our new regular. Well done!

Booked table several days in advance for a celebration yet when we arrived appeared a problem with booking as took several minutes to be seated. After 10-15 minutes waiting to be served drinks, gave up & ordered at the bar. Mains eventually arrived and were very good however then took 45 minutes for desserts to arrive with one order missing, then having to chase it. Was told by staff this was due to running out of vanilla ice cream! (Why not ask if we wanted a different flavour) and that the kitchen was very busy. In summary, this is a lovely cosy village pub with open fires and good food, just a shame it was let down by the slow service.

Gorgeous place! A hidden away gem if you don't know the area but worth travelling in for. Staff are really friendly and professional. Cosy spot with varied menu.

Seriously gorgeous food enjoyed again today. The fires were so warm and very welcoming. The staff so friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. We had a Sunday roast with all the trimmings followed by cherry and almond cheesecake. Everything was perfect! Such a wonderful Mothers Day 💗 and we could have stayed all day. It’s such a beautiful pub with such a friendly warm atmosphere. A must visit for anyone who appreciates good food and quality surroundings.

We booked Sunday lunch online via the website which was very easy.As soon as we arrived we were pleasantly welcomed and shown to our table.The ambience and atmosphere was excellent and the service very professional and pleasant.The refurbished pub has now a lighter and brighter one half and the remainder is pretty much as it was previous to the refurbishment.It works really well.The food was superb.We decided to go for the 3 courses...the choice was brilliant.Each course was superb.We weren't rushed...it was relaxing and atmospheric.Great also to see locals at the bar.The Cross Keys caters for a variety of customers and is flexible and welcoming to all.We will be returning!!!

Our party of 6 had a gorgeous Mothering Sunday lunch last weekend. A beautifully refurbished pub, tempting menu (good kids menu), delicious roast dinner, irresistible puddings, friendly & efficient service and all very reasonably priced. So great having such a lovely venue as this as our local pub - we will be back!

We popped in for lunch with our dog. The bar was busy, but we had a corner table. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our food was well prepared and of a high standard. We were very pleased and will definitely return

This pub /Restaraunt had been closed for sometime and has been refurbed to a high standard. It was apub that many feared would not reopen . we had seen at least 6 pubs in close area do just that. let me tell you this pub is back with a bang. We had a small family gathering in the first month of it opening it was great. Good food good beer great atmosphere and warm. I also called in on the opening game of the six nations it was great bacon baps and burgers available and a full pub.

Absolutely delicious food and polite staff. Food does take a while to come, but when it gets to the table it’s worth the wait! Pub is clean and smart, prices are reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of food. This place is miles ahead of others in the local area, we will be visiting again. Thank you.

If you want freshly cooked food, care about presentation, good portion size, quality food and great value, all sounds a bit good to be true..... Well try it, I went for a mid afternoon lunch yesterday and will definitely be back, its a 30 min drive from Chester and I'm glad I went, With Hope mountain in the background, if you fancy a nice walk first, then drop in for a warm friendly welcome from Quen and the team. They even took care of my 86 year old frail mum and opened the back door onto the carpark so that she didn't have to walk as far back to the car, fantastic!! Although it was Saturday and not Sunday, Thankyou for making our mothers day family get together lunch even more specialby providing great food and excellent customer service..

Stylish refurbishment, super attentive staff and faultless quality of the food - the lamb was cooked just perfectly.👌 My only constructive observation is the reclaimed church chairs would benefit from seat pads for a more comfortable experience, but otherwise, 10 out of 10!

I visited here for having a party with some friends. This restaurant serves amazing food. I felt it was the best food in Wrexham. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was so warm. I highly recommend The Cross Keys!!

Food excellent, although the service was very disappointing. Maybe the young man was new to the job. There was no cutlery on the table for us, and we had to ask for it. Also waited a long time for desserts, and reminded the staff 3 times that we were waiting.

We had a lovely family meal celebrating multiple special occasions. We had a table for 11, we were seated in ‘the naughty corner’ which the children in the group found very amusing. Booking was straight forward, big thanks to Gwen for being very attentive and helpful through the whole booking process (larger parties are asked to preorder). The food was delicious and presentation was first class. The waitresses were attentive, friendly and professional and the atmosphere was great. The refurb has clearly been done to a very high standard, it is open, light and tasteful but maintains lots of the original features and quirks that made this such a popular local pub for such a long time. Da iawn Bawb, an excellent job all round. Looking forward to returning.

This local pub had been closed for some while for refurbishment and what a thorough and superb job they have done. Many changes since my wife first visited fifty years ago. They have taken care to make for clean and light lines, whilst also ensuring that it is fully accessible and welcoming - not everyone bothers, even in 2024. My wife enjoyed a glass of the house Prosecco and I had a pint of lighter ale, both delicious. My wife had the pan-fried hake, with chickpeas and some greens. A generous portion where she could not quite manage all of the chickpeas, but I finished them, delicious. I settled for the DaalTadka, which was well spiced and crisply presented. For a pudding we each had a slice of the lemon tart. A little greedy, perhaps, but really delicious - so we did not need any dinner that night. Thank you Cross Keys, we’ll be back. Indeed we’ve already booked. :-)

Moved to North Wales over a year ago and visited twice in the passed two weeks loved the Venison Suet Pudding and had a great Sunday Roast Beef. Service was exceptional, very friendly which made us feel welcome. A true dog friendly pub with great food, people and a log fire, what more do you need.

We were delighted to book the Cross Keys for my wife's birthday. This pub was my local 30+ years ago and has retained a special place for me and to be able to return and enjoy superb food and service to share with my family...

What a lovely country pub! The food was amazing, staff were very attentive. Spoke to the manager Jerome who has a wealth of experience in hospitality. Already booked to go back.

Beautifully renovated pub, amazing memu, wonderful food at good prices with lovely staff

How lucky are the residents of Llanfynydd to have this class gastro pub on their doorstep. I eaten there twice recently and you just get the feeling that the Keys is the hub of the community already but all are made welcome by customs and staff alike. Just a top to tail great place, deserves to do well.

Shame the beer selection isn't wider - 2 best bitters on when I visited but no IPA . Food was excellent though, service great and a really nice place for lunch. Perhaps they can stock some IPA, stouts / porters in cans if not sure about using up a keg/cask?

Booked a midweek lunchtime meal for five and mentioned my 94 yr old mum felt the cold so they reserved our table next to the fire. The service was so friendly and the food absolutely delicious. The place is beautifully decorated. This will definitely be our restaurant of choice from now on. Btw noticed that a bad review was posted by someone who had obviously gone to a different place as they mentioned a river view. Think that review should be removed as it taints the score for this lovely place.

Lovely place, friendly people, good service. Three stars as my Fish was a little dry and my wifes Sea Bass portion a bit on the small size. However the rest of the group enjoyed their choices.

They’ve done a great job of refurbishing this place. It’s aim a lovely location next to a lively church and great walks nearby. Dog friendly as well. Fantastic log burners have been installed and make it a great place for a winter snug pub !...

Lovely place and been desperate to get in here over the last month. Finally booked in for Sunday lunch and I have to say a little disappointing. We’d booked the week before yet we were perched on a tiny 2 seater near a window when one other diner was on his own on a table for 4 which didn’t make sense. Wine was lovely, San Miguel was flat! I had the lamb dinner and my husband had Beef. Really small portion for the money. Two small slices of lamb, 4 tiny roast potatoes and for £18.95 overall not good value for money. Both meals were ‘Luke’ warm but I have to say gravy was tasty. Yorkshire pudding rock hard and overall portion size not great for nearly £20 per meal.

Absolutely amazing pub, would highly recommend this pub to anyone. Food is amazing and also the staff are lovely super friendly and kind, top marks for everyone there.

This is my now my favourite go-to pub for 2024. The atmosphere is welcoming, cosy and relaxing. The staff were polite, engaging and helpful and the food was top-notch! I would recommend the Cross Keys to anyone.

Recently reopened and still a little gem of a place. Loads of character with log fires. Loads of seating inside and out. Great menu with lots of choices and the beer was good too.

Excellent meal, first time back for indoor dinning, warm welcome and lovely new additions to the menu. We all enjoyed our choice, freshly prepared and very tasty. Would highly recommend. 24 of us for Sunday roast and what a mix! The vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and the usual roast dinners were all absolutely delicious 😋. The nut roast was amazing, the vast selection of vegetables were cooked to perfection, the meats tasty and everything was really hot. The homemade apple and cinnamon crumble with custard was out of this world! The dining room was toasty and warm and all the staff were very friendly. Thank you Paul!! We all had a really lovely afternoon ❤️

Had Sunday lunch at The Cross Keys and it was wonderful. Great tasting food, excellent service and such a lovely welcome, from Paul . I can’t believe it’s taken so long to try this pub, but so glad we did today. I would highly recommend visiting, you won’t be disappointed. This is a great pub, nestled into the hills near Wrexham and Mold. The staff are friendly and polite. The food is delicious and there are many returning customers. The menu caters for all tastes. The friendly landlord, Paul caters for parties too. I had my 60th birthday party there. Paul drove all the way back from a rugby match in Edinburgh to organise my party. What a star! That's why The Crossed Keys is our favourite pub in the area.

Lovely family run pub, food is really nice and so is the atmosphere which is very welcoming. Pulling in and out of the parking area the only challenge with this pub.

Lovely pub with polite, friendly staff. They serve Eastgate on draft which goes down rather well. The opening times are different (longer) than stated on Goggle maps; we arrived at 2pm Sunday only to discover they'd already been open for 2 hours (since 12 noon). We'll make sure we arrive on time on our next visit!

Wonderful ancient local pub with history and attentive staff and good menu. Wi Fi password needs work it's not MI6 or Cold War etc. Needs 2 choices of proper beer but apart from that v good.Google closing times need reviewing etc.

Excellent food and service! Before the pandemic we have eaten and drank here. More recently we have had takeaway Sunday dinner and are looking forward to our takeaway Christmas dinner. Well done, definitely 5 stars. 🍽🍺

We have just had a wonderful take out meal which words can't express how lovely it was. The flavours were immense in the mutton lamb curry and the size of the BBQ ribs and chicken wings were beyond but as my husband said we can't leave beautiful meat everything was so tasty and can't recommend the take out menu enough - the quality was just as good as if we had been sitting in which we have also done . The only good thing about lockdown is having another meal from here. Thank you to all the staff we are full and content!

Had a great takeaway meal at the weekend. Had chicken curry and steak burger. My daughter loves Paul's burgers and nowhere else in the area can compete! Curry was yum and can't choose my favourite between the chicken Curry or famous mutton curry. Collection was easy and service great. So pleased to be able to enjoy the food during lockdown
