the worst hotpot restaurant in Manchester, u should go to another hotpot restaurant to have ur meals. Expensive price w poor quality. The restaurant staff like they don't speak English. around 60/pp that's waste money🤣🤣

Food wasn't fresh, staff were so rude, also heard them arguing and shouting loud whilst trying to eat. Food was way too expensive for the portions we got. Honestly just go to azuma, it's the better shabu place at a better price, and you won't be disappointed with the staff like this place. -5/10

One of the worst restaurants in Manchester. I visited here in Chinese New Year. We waited for 30 minutes for them to send one single dish. We asked them four times for the dish they hadn’t sent over. However, after waiting for an hour, we still haven’t got what we ordered. Unbelievable! The thing is you don’t need to freaking cook any ingredients we ordered. You literally just need to put vegetables/meat on the plate then send it for us to cook it. The staff had a very bad attitude too. We also overheard that they were talking behind the customer to ask them to get out if they were not going to order more food. If you want to have a bad day, please visit this restaurant.

Unfortunately not as good as it used to be. The previous times we visited we could confidently recommend it for a legit Sichuan hotpot. However this time despite asking for extra flavouring, chillies, and Sichuan peppers it was still kinda bland. Mushroom fried rice which we raved about last time took about 20 minutes, and by the time it came, we realised it didn't include any actual mushrooms and was just a single rice bowl, rather than previously being a bowl for the table. I suppose it would be a good place to go to if you don't know any better, but if you're a 四川人 or if you've lived in Sichuan you might as well save the money and cook at home. We will eventually return in the hope that things have got better.

Good food, nice restaurant, good location. Got explosive diarrhea after but that’s to be expected. Cool concept

Let’s not talk about the service or whether the food tastes good or not. I had severe diarrhea half an hour after eating. I was still on the highway and almost had an accident. After returning home, the person who came to eat with me also started to have diarrhea, more than once. I seriously suspect that the things are not clean or fresh.

Lightning protection! The food is not clean! Several people got diarrhea after eating it!

A complete new experience for both of us, a must try especially if your adventures and don't mind a risk of ordering random dishes with no idea, definitely try if there's a few of you. When we arrived the guy said this is only a hot pot place which I thought was a bit redundant as that's the whole point for us going there. To order you at your table you have a paper menu and a pen and you mark all the bits you want, definitely bring glasses as the writing is small and English is the second language, which I took as a good sign. We had no clue so went for a mixed meat platter and a vegetable platter the bone broth and the mala spicy broth which was incredible but beat me in the end. The sour plum juice was wonderful. The staff helped us and explained what to do so if you're unsure just ask. This definitely turns a normal night out into an experience.

Genuine Xichuan hotpot but food is average. Quite costly.

One of the nice hotpot in town, I love the menu and services.

Nice, but not spectacular. Some of the items were clearly frozen, which is understandable, but at the very least some effort could have been used to conceal this. If you can't read Chinese, it is not easy to decipher the weird English font on the menu. Staff on break eating on next table and talking loudly was a bit distracting. But generally a pleasant experience.

Food was all quite good, no complaints in that aspect. The service however could have been much better. It was not explained to us at first and when we asked for it to be, it was explained to us very broadly and it was assumed that we knew everything; definitely not a place for firsttimers. There must have been some technical issue and we were quite rudely made to get out of our seats so the waiters could fix it. You have to go up several flights of stairs to get to the restaurant itself and some more to get to the bathroom, needless to say this is not an accessible space. Plastic party cups for water and beer, dirty jugs and rude staff, not the best experience, I'd recommend looking for another spot.

I had a disappointing experience at this hotpot restaurant. Upon arrival, we weren't greeted and had to seat ourselves. The ordering process was confusing as we were expected to tick items on the menu, which wasn't explained clearly for first-timers like me. The lack of guidance extended to cooking times for the food and we received dirty plates and chopsticks. The uncomfortable stares and whispers from the staff made the atmosphere awkward. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet our expectations, and it’s clear they lack customer service. To add to the frustration, service for drinks was slow and we wasn’t asked whether we wanted a drink. The overall experience left much to be desired. Given the price we paid, £50, for subpar food and service, I would never come again.

Amazing hands down best Chinese food if you are looking for authentic food. The people the ambiance. It was perfect. Will keep going back.

Brilliant.. way more traditional than others..get to pick and choose how and when you want to cook your dishes...enjoyable because its not all done behind the scenes..you can see what you're actually making and be involved..Good for the kids to help out with the cooking and see what they're eating! Staff were great and explained how it all worked for us. You can add extras if you feel you need more afterwards...the food gets bought out within about 5 mins! Will definitely return and bring along some friends..vegan and vegetarian options too!

We went here for lunch with 5 Adults and 3 Kids. We had chosen mixed soup base. It was quite expensive for the charges.

It was mine and my partners first time ever trying Hot Pot and we couldn't have had a better experience. They were extremely helpful from start to finish, in particular Melissa was so lovely and patient to explain everything to us and also help us with our meal. The food was extremely fresh and tasty and worth every penny! Would highly recommend for anyone to go!

Une expérience culinaire au top pour une première autour d'un Hot Pot le 1 janvier 2023 lors du dîner. Personnel très agréable qui n'a pas hésité à nous aider et nous conseiller. Nous sommes français, une première pour nous et nous avons adoré. Merci beaucoup pour ce moment en plein cœur de chinatown Manchester.

Excellent dining experiance, the staff couod jot have been more helpful and explained lots to us about both the menu and how to cook the food. Thoroughly recommended, the place was busy on a Tuesday night and now we know why.

Loved the food but the placing is a little conjusted if you are going with kids.

This is a joke. Each person can only have a slice per dish to eat:))))) and a dish (meat) is 7pounds. Too greedy.

Had a great experience here! Contrary to some other reviews service was friendly and helpful talking us through how long to cook each ingredient and how much we should order between 6 of us. The hotpot itself was really tasty and great value - including a couple of rounds of drinks it was only around £20 a head. Would definitely go again.

I’m so surprised with such a low rating for such an amazing restaurant. If I can give it 10 stars I would. Ever since discovering this place over a year ago , I have been here almost on a weekly basis if not more often. The restaurant have improved and provides a menu for non Chinese speakers with extra details and the staff are super friendly. Myself being Caucasian actually got compliments and guidance from staff multiple times. The food is yummy and many dishes are delicacies you can’t find in any other place. The restaurant in the span of last year has gotten many clients who aren’t just intentional students but rather big local families of various nationalities. They are working hard to keep the quality very good and open up this wonderful hot pot culture to as many people as possible. Many in the comments gave 1 star to this place simply due to high price. Guys , Xiong Qi isn’t McDonalds or Chinese Buffet , it is a hot pot experience of the highest level, with great food to try and have a great time, tables are isolated from one another and you get private food experience with your partner and can have a great time together. And if price is such an issue for many , why not come in a group of 3 or 4 people for instance than cost is more than doable, but even for 2 you can get an abundance of drinks , deserts , food for roughly 50£ per person, which is not too high price at all taking into account how delicious the food is and how good of a time you’re gonna have. P.S compared to ALL of the restaurants in China Town , this place almost always won’t be ridiculously busy and you will get a table instantly , and it never hurts to call the restaurant to ask if there is a free table or not. So when some people write about 45 minutes wait , it sounds very hard to believe given my over 50 times visit there.

For my first experience, it was a mid experience. The beef was good but the amount for 4 (20 quid each) wasn't worth the price aswell as the vegetables and others. A primary school meal would be better in my opinion. The hotpot food gad barely flavour. Furthermore, staff were talking about how we were probably idiots for being there as we had no idea what we was doing. On the other hand, little did they know me and my mates were talking about how appauling it is. The one staff we had was good but was front. The only thing I enjoyed was the sanitizer machine. Therefore, i recommend for experience but id enjoy eating on someones toes.

Good aesthetics within the restaurant. However, did not feel welcome and felt like me and my friends were getting stared at. Tired ah food, meat needs more love. Kitchen nightmares should air again just for one episode being this place. For a better experience go to ‘Azuma’ 20 minutes away, way more worth.

best part of the whole time there was by far the hand sanitiser machine, only thing to salvage from the eye watering experience was the aesthetics and the pork strips ,other than that was served relatively bland food friendly staff but lack of communication ,not beginner friendly and food served was £60 worth £20 at a push so severely overpriced

Went here for our first ever hotpot experience in Manchester. The staff were so helpful explaining how to order to how each meat was cooked. The meat was delicious, especially the marbled beef which was fresh served on ice and very tender and the sides wonderful too. I’d really recommend the double broth, the spicy butter broth and ox broth were amazing. Reasonable price too for 4 people we paid around £100ish? We all ate our fill and we still had meat leftover by the end! Will definitely be back soon!

Was excited to come here as have never been to a hotpot place before, but was greatly disappointed by the experience and actually quite upset. We told them we have never been before, we were handed a menu with very few words and sat down. No one came to speak to us, to help us or anything even though we clearly did not know what we were doing. Staff stood together clearly watching us and talking about us, all service was rude and dismissive even though we were polite. Was vey uncomfortable the whole time and felt like they did not want us there. Horrible. Should have listened to all other bad ratings as we had the exact same experience as those!!

Staff is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, suppose so the lady at the counter does look cold but she isn’t the one serving you. Let down of this this place is the insane prices, clearly set to milk as much as possible from rich international students, you’re looking at paying £80-100 for 2 people for food you could get for £20 tops.

The food was decent! Me and 2 friends got a beef share platter. However, the chilli beef was nearly inedible due to how spicy it was. The butter spicy and mushroom soup bases were flavoursome and hearty. It was an enjoyable experience as it was new for us all. The price was decent as we split between 3 of us. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing. The only downside was the customer service - one server was unfriendly and did not help us with the menu even though we had never been there before. She just threw the English menu towards us and walked off. Another server was absolutely awful! She was hostile and rude. We were taken aback at how she spoke to us when we requested to pay individually. She was completely dismissive when we asked to use the toilets too. Overall, we felt extremely uncomfortable due to their service. There was one server who was very nice, welcoming and attentive though. It’s a shame she has to deal with those coworkers!

Delicious hotpot, a little expensive on average.

Chinese hot pot with lots of variety of food on the menu, even pig's brains are on their for the more adventurous. They spicy soup was super hot. Staff were friendly and helpful when we went. It is reasonably priced for what you're getting, which is an authentic Chinese hot pot experience.

Worst food and the girl on the till she was very rude she treat us like we are her enemy i really didn't enjoy the day my friends had first time hot pot by this bad experience avoid

If you have never had hot pot before this is definitely not the place to go, the staff were blunt and unhelpful (it wasn't busy) and the whole experience was extremely uncomfortable, unfortunately really disappointed..

The staff aren't friendly and one of them is actually very rude. chop sticks were dirty i had to ask them to change them for me but they didn't even apologize for that. and the food quality wasn't good. Overall as my first Chinese restaurant experience it was a terrible experience.

Extremely rude staff, unwelcoming and unhelpful from the moment we got there. Weren't allowed to stay unless we spent £50+ (for 2 people). Was pretty overpriced compared to other hot pot restaurants I've been to as well. Very disappointed.

Awful customer service. Were made to wait 45 minutes only to be informed that if we didn't spend over £50+ we would have to leave. We felt very unwanted and were really looking forward to having a nice meal. Wouldn't recommend, China town has much more to offer.

Good bloody feast. For those who enjoy chilli and heat, definite ring of fire the next morning. Prepare to have some numb mouths with all that szechuan!

Cool experience. The food was delicious and as our first time there one of the servers explain us all the steps for make your own hot pot what it was super helpful. It felt really authentic. I really recommend it

Good food. Friendly people. We had no clue what we were doing and one of the staff swooped in to show us how it's done. Super tasty. Love you can tick and list what you want on the menu. Really efficient.

EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF! AVOID AT ALL COST! The rudeness of the young girl who is at the reception and seats you at your table is unbelievable. The website & Google clearly states that they are open until 10pm, we visited the restaurant at 8.30pm and were told they shut at 9.30pm before we sat at our table. Every question from us was met with utmost disgust and sigh from the young girl aforementioned. We were forced to pay the bill at 9.15pm as apparently the till shuts at 9.30pm. The food being good doesn't compensate for the horrible service. Avoid at all cost!!

Best hotpot in UK and my favourite place to go. Ignore the low ratings. The hotpot is great with good quality food if you know what you're looking for. Probably best to go with a Chinese person if you go. Pricey but worth it once every few months, especially in the winter

Food was nice, well rated. However the staff ticked boxes to order food for us sneakily, we all saw it, real shame to have that service.

The food is good (not great) but the service is not and because it's expensive it ends up feeling like money badly spent. Our waitress was super rude and abrasive and made us feel genuinely uncomfortable when asking her questions about the menu. 2 other servers stared at us whilst we were eating our food which was bizarre.

The staff are very rude and the food isn’t fresh. As soon as we walked through the door they told us the time they closed in a very abrupt manner as though we shouldn’t have come in at all. It’s overpriced for what you are eating. Would NOT recommend.

I was here today with my friends but didn't get offered the free moon cake that they advertised on their IG page, the staff was very rude and didn't seem interested in my table at all. They just threw the menu at us and no one could be bothered to explain how the hotpot menu works. The food was good so I have to give credit where credit is due.

Top quality food and service. Very very delicious hot pot feels just like in Chengdu! Highly recommend spicy beef platter and bullfrog. Best place for traditional sichuan style dining in UK！
