Nice restaurant, very big plates and not so good meat.

Starters were nice, spring rolls were fresh and crispy, Honey Spare Ribs were dry and chewy and had a strange batter coating. Prawn toast was average. Throughout the meal the staff were shouting and being unprofessional. Half way through our starters the waiter came over and tried to hurry us to take the plate away saying “Take, Take, You need to take”. We then moved the remaining of our starters to our side plates to satisfy her. Our mains then arrived immediately after. I ordered Fried Rice and my friend ordered sweet and sour Chicken. The sweet and sour arrived as expected but they brought me out a chow mein which isn’t what I ordered. I told her it should have been friend rice. She took the plate away and begun to yell and scream down a walkie talkie. 10 mins later my fried rice turned up. The rice was super sticky and was very salty. The meat had very little flavour besides the salt and was overall disgusting. I ate about 5 mouthfuls. When we went to pay there was a 10% tip added to the bill that we didn’t agree to that the server added on her own accord. I questioned it and refused to pay it. Overall a very poor experience, won’t be returning nor will I recommend to any friends.

Very bad service! Very little meat in the dishes. And most importantly, very bad service attitude, they are customers, not us!

The food was so good! We had handmade noodles and they were perfect and the same as what you’d get in China. The waitress we had was absolutely lovely and the customer service in general was fantastic. If I lived closer I would definitely go more, a must visit place in Manchester :)

Terrible experience - Thought I'd try this place with my partner as it was advertised on Instagram. Must've been paid promotion as it's nothing like the video! The menu was extremely small, and wasn't offered anything like a hotpot or hand pulled noodles. Just a basic Chinese takeaway menu. Extremely quiet inside and the most we got was the servers shouting at each other. Food arrived and really wasn't good, very bland and oily. Wasn't fresh and a small portion for the price. I was charged a lot considering how terrible the food and atmosphere were, I really do not recommend this place. Don't be misled by paid advertisements like I was! Edit: Apparently you had to ask for hotpot menu but nowhere says it's available nor is it offered. Same with the hand pulled noodles, none is available to see on the website - Still would not recommend as the food made myself and my partner feel poorly.

We tried hand stretched noodles from here. We tried seafood and beef, both of which were amazing!! We got to watch the chef make the noodles, and the portions were huge. Considering how reasonable the dishes were, I am so happy to have tried this place. I really wanna come back for their other dishes like mapo tofu. It’s on my way back from my gym so it’s dangerous 😂

Bring my children there for lunch, especially for the on-site traditional Chinese handmade noodle. The beef soup noodle. All my kids really enjoy it.

The food in this restaurant does not feel very clean, and there are not many people there. When I went to eat, I was either the only one at my table or there were only one or two tables (and this was in a good location). One person has to be charged an extra 7 pounds. The most disgusting thing is that they don’t allow Chinese credit cards to be used. Even though you can use them, they don’t charge them and only allow British cards to be used.

The food is very delicious thank you Authentic food. I followed my nose to find it. I had sour fish.

The WORST Chinese we've ever had! When we were eventually served, the food was wrong and cold, fried rice was boiled to within an inch of its life, nothing tasted right - we sent the lot back. Do not waste your money here

The waitress was very nice so no hate to her but the food was very very bad. I ordered the chicken with Szechuan chilis and it tasted great but the pieces of chicken were like they had been smashed. There were tiny pieces of bones throughout every little bit of chicken. It was genuinely a choking hazard I’m so surprised they would serve that to a customer. I had also ordered the dumplings which came in a chili oil broth. The dumplings were delicious, my favorite thing by far. I got a braised eggplant and potato dish that also came with peppers and onions as did two other dishes which the peppers and onions did not belong in. I’m going to be honest, the eggplant was overcooked and bland. It’s one of my favorites dishes and I tried to eat it with rice and lots of the sauce but it just didn’t taste like much. The 宫保鸡丁had cashews, onions and bell peppers which may be how they choose to make it but it was so bad. It looked bad, it tasted bad, originally the dish has peanuts and cucumbers (which I shouldn’t have to say) and a shiny glaze sauce but this looked awful. I really wish I had taken a picture but I was a bit preoccupied trying not to choke and die on the chicken bits with chilis. I think they should do a run through or something and try the food they make before serving it because if they knew what their food tasted like, they wouldn’t send it out to customers.

The cost is completely different from the website, it is 35 per person, vermicelli is delicious but will not come again The clerk began to offer me 30 before I agreed. （If this happened to me in another restaurant I would think I didn't understand, but Chinese is my native language 😊）by the way, I had diarrhea yesterday The ingredients are not fresh and highly not recommended.

Ordered spicy hotpot and pork belly chicken. Good portion size and good value for money.

Never going back there again. The taste of the food was "sub zero" . Had lunch for two but we couldn't eat anything.

Went when it was very quiet. Staff are lovely and food is great. Don't be deterred by prices as each main dish is sized for sharing.

Went to this place with a group of ten people as it was recommended by a Chinese friend. The staff were incredibly friendly, food was tasty and we all enjoyed our meal :)

Best hotpot restaurant I’ve been to in a long time, I ordered the hotpot buffet and the food was absolutely amazing and really authentic as well as really cheap. The service was fast and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would 100% recommend this restaurant.

Just happened to stumble upon this restaurant. The hotpot buffet was really tasty with a lot of variety with drinks all included. Definitely my new go to hotpot restaurant in the future.

This little known restaurant serves amazing authentic Szechuan cuisine. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and taste fantastic. We had Szechuan crab, clams, stir-fried prawns with vegetables and crispy squid. We had lots of seafood this time but can't wait to go back to try other (meat) items on the menu. Being slightly out of Chinatown, it's very reasonably priced too!

Truly awful food. Bland and very disappointing. Staff are friendly but cannot understand English very well. Beers came in bottles with no glass.

We went here before watching the Lion King and honestly it's the worst Chinese I've ever had! The lady that served us didn't understand English very well, so ordered the wrong food. We got 2 portions of Prawn Toast and they were stale...like they'd be cooked and recooked repeatedly it was disgusting! And my child was trying to bite through it with no success before I saw the state that they were in.....food poisoning about to happen here. I would never go here again nor would I recommend anyone to go into this restaurant. It was colder in there than outside! AWFUL

Order was wrong hard communicating with staff. toilets down lots of dark steps (dangerous) bland food and very overpriced would not recommend!

They advertise hotpot as 25 pounds per person and that’s what showing on their hotpot buffet menu as well, but when we asked for the bill, the owner said 50 pounds if we pay by cash, and 55 pounds by card. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Will never go there again. Please avoid this restaurant.

I went here with my friends on Dec 25 with an APPOINTMENT on 5 pm, waited for 1 hour to get one thing on the table (spent 4 hours there and the waiter lost our order twice) With this service, we even get 10% service fee because you CHOOSE TO OPEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY. yeah, merry christmas :)

It now belongs to a different, private business owner and was established when the pandemic started. 现在的店名是"星厨"， 是新的老板 ， 不再是原来的"汉朝"。 It serves authentic and natural Chinese food, using the ingenious spices from Sichuan, so I recommend this restaurant for people who like or are looking to try the food from this region of China. 推荐他们家的麻辣烫 ! They are currently offering 12% off the prices on the Chinese menu ( not the English one) for customers who dine in and pay by cash, 八八折优惠堂食顾客， but they charge customers for container boxes for taking away unfinished food -- you can bring your own containers. They have two sets of menu, one is designed for Chinese, the other for British or anyone who has assimilated himself into the food cultures in Taiwan and England. The place is spacious and has warmly colourful decor. The food hygiene has been good. As for the drawbacks, some food tasted a little too salty and there was a mild smell that probably came from the cleaning wipes or mops.

The best Chinese restaurant in Manchester, the Star chef is a very good restaurant, the boss is also a very good Sichuan chef, single from the variety of dishes, the variety is very comprehensive. The Han Dynasty and The Star Chef are two completely different restaurant. The owner of the Star Chef rented the front of the Han Dynasty last year, but it also led many people to think that the Han Dynasty and the Star Chef were the same shop. It's totally ridiculous that these two stores are not at all comparable. In my opinion, Star Chef is definitely the best Chinese restaurant in Manchester. Although it is a new restaurant, the chefs here can make the best Chinese food in Manchester. Everyone has rich cooking experience. If you want to enjoy authentic Chinese food, star Chef is definitely the best choice. On top of that, if you show the star chef boss how much you like China, or if you make some great suggestions, the boss may give you some unexpected discounts. This restaurant was previously Han Dynasty which received consecutive one star ratings (major improvement necessary) from Manchester Council. After the latest failed inspection on December 12th they have now reopened as Star Chef. I have not eaten in Star Chef and don't plan too, because the restaurant even on the outside is filthy. They discard bags of rubbish, on Samuel Ogden Street (a residential street), where red juices are also seen flowing across the pavement. Avoid, they have no concern for neighbours or their pets so I can't imagine they have any regard for customers' health either.
