Woodman in Rotherham

The manager seated us yet failed to tell us that there wasn't any pizza available. Yet the menus had been left on the table... the 5 of us all picked pizzas which was a complete waste of time. We then had to pick somdthing else. We picked different baguettes which the bread was abit dry. The staff didn't look like they knew what they was meant to be doing with taking our food to the wrong table and putting it infront of someone else! We asked a waiter for some napkins but he completely blanked us and walked away. I then asked him again and he looked at me moaned and fetched loads. It wouldn't of been a problem if the table was actually set properly in the first place!

Great staff so welcoming and always a friendly atmosphere. Scot and the team provide quality service and food is delicious and reasonably priced. Couldn’t recommend this pub more

Chloe served me at the bar and she made good chat and had a really lovely chat. Izzy served me and she was really nice and accommodating.

We had a lovely meal tonight,the staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Many thanks for a seamless experience.

Nice pub with friendly staff, has a good atmosphere

As a person who lives in the local area, The Woodman is the place to be! The atmosphere is amazing, as well as the staff and the food. The events that they also have on are fantastic for young and old, everyone is friendly and welcoming and it creates a great environment to be in.

Leah is the best by far, service is on point, always smiling.

Over an hour and half before getting any food, had to chase, most of staff had little customer service other than odd person. Biggest pet peeve is no customer service skills in a job where that is the biggest requirement!

Lovely setting & staff really friendly. But the food was awfull my husband had mixed grill the chicken was like rubber his steak was terrible .I had the chicken burger and that was just awfull everything looked like it had been stood then put in the fryers to be warmed up . The food was terrible and the service just as bad. Three meals arrived at different times and mine never arrived. When compaining the bar staff actually offered to refund the cost of my meal, how generous, seeing as it never arrived. Two fish and chips had dark brown unbreakable batter. One didn't seem to contain fish ...... I don't think it was the first time those fish had seen a deep far frier.

Food was not up to standard. The pie was rock hard, the mash was presented in pellets, chef had not even bothered to mash them up. The chips were soggy with burnt bits on from fryer. it was obvious the oil needed changing. The salad was just a large chunk not even cut up. 3 out of the 5 meals were changed but when came back out was not much better. No other means of an apology.

Haven't been here for many years and must say a warm friendly welcome and food was gawjuss!!We are stuffed. Friendly barstaff and spoke to the chef..Lovely Leah came with our food and desert. Will defo be back again. X

Visited as received a money off voucher and keen to have a regular local, service initially good, ordered food and asked if starter wanted separate to main meal which we said yes, asked again at the table if starter wanted before main meal, this must be a game changer as waited approximately 30 minutes for starter then another 30 minutes for main, other tables that had just ordered a main after us received their main meal and ate and left before we had our starter! Really sorry but service better at other local pubs/restaurants

Quick service, need draught cider other than Strongbow.

Mothers Day. Been here today, family of 7. Table booked for 1pm, starter was out within the hour. Main took well over an hour, only 2 ended up with dessert, other 3 cancelled due to waiting time. Refund for that was given AND free drinks were given and to be fair, it wasn't a cheap round. Personally, I will be back here again. Despite everything the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Think too many bookings were made for staff with time given

Visited our local pub after a refurbishment and looks fab, as always great food, great welcoming staff (especially Paul 😊) Enjoying a bit of family time after a hard day can’t be better…..highly recommend. We are loving the new layout of the pub and a great bonus having sky sports back in.

What should have been hot was cold. Complained. Steak was probably pinged in the microwave for a minute. Really disappointed.

Took 90 mins to get food, and then still had to remind the staff

My husband and I had a wonderful meal, our reserved table was ready and our meal was served quickly, very well presented and delicious. The staff as always were friendly and attentive. All in all a delightful visit.

I visited with my friend,as its our tradition to have the Christmas Dinner between Christmas and the New year. At the woodman. The food was so much better than it has been for a long time. Definitely some improvement. The whole meal was cooked perfectly. The tomato soup was delicious. It all was excellent. The staff are very friendly,courteous, and helpful. It atmosphere is lovely. Its my local pub and I used to visit every week. I did stop going as the food wasn't very good and drinks are expensive. I will definitely eat at the woodman more often now.

Leah is the person I want highlight as someone who is a natural in what she does and how she acts. Leah is always so warm and friendly, to the extent that she always remembers me and the drinks I have even from the second visit. The rest of the staff are equally great and the food and service is really good, and with the addition of a great gluten free food menu, you can’t go wrong

Nice local to call in to, well kept beers and a good range of food too Leah is lovely behind the bar and always looks after us.. Getting to be a habit as she remembers our orders every time Curry nights are brilliant..!!

The pub was cold but the landlord did whatever he could to accommodate including giving hot water bottles to customers and was very polite and apologetic towards me and my family, I would 100% recommend this pub, excellent service.

I visited here with my family for tea The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food arrived promptly and was very nice. The children's menu was great value. I will definitely recommend to family and friends and look forward to visiting again soon.

I never expect much from these places as there's only so much you can do with a microwave and a boiled bag, so I opted for the mixed grill expecting at least a freshly fried egg. 2 Sausages: One looked almost cremated the other barely cooked. Chicken: Looked like a dry poached egg and greyish in colour. Steak: Like rubber. Gammon: Edible. Chips: Tasteless and hollow. Peas: Like bullets. Egg: Freshly fried egg - with a solid yolk. All in all the worst pub meal I've ever had.

Great local pub and staff are outstanding. Highly recommended for food and drinks in a great atmosphere. Thanks as always to Scot and the Team.

I can recommend the mega grill but it isn’t for the faint hearted , Exelent value for money and the service was exemplary.

Came for nephews 30th . I had heard mixed reviews from people about food and service . Service i can’t fault but ordered food . Steak and ale pie was fine and mixed grill was ok a little over cooked on the gammon and chicken was a little dry . But for two chicken kebabs to come out on plates that were hot but for chicken on both kebabs to be cold and raw not good . Was quickly taken and returned with fresh this time cooked chicken .

Wish I could give 6 stars! My experience at the Woodman was outstanding. Place was spotless, food was great value for money and most importantly, delicious! Scott and his team went above and beyond in every aspect of the hospitality business. Our first time visiting but we now live at Woodlaithes so we will certainly return.

Good vibes, decently priced drinks, over priced food. We went on a quiz night, the food was dry, as if it's been left under a food lamp for a long while.

The food was terrible. I ordered mixed grill and was so disappointed. The steak wasn't cooked to my liking and was bloody. The gammon fat was black and burnt. The peas were like bullets and there was no fried egg present. Although the staff were good and offered a partial refund and provided a fried egg, it has put me off coming again. My husband ordered Hunter's Chicken and his chicken was hard to cut.

Very nice food the pizza and chips were beautifully cooked and the J20 orange juice was very refreshing and delicious 🤤 and the popcorn chicken and the chicken strips were very tasty the only problem was the rocket salad 🥗 it came very greasy and not fresh enough for me I usually like to have fresh ingredients it’s not the best salad I’ve ever had I’ve seen better salad than that very poor service though as we asked for our starter first but they have given us the main course by mistake will not be returning here again but the food is very good so well done to the chefs who made it for me

Just had my retirement do here and it was amazing. The buffet was excellent n so much choice. Would highly recommended it!!!

Scott has arranged breakfasts on a Saturday morning. It was cooked by Shaz the head chef, the breakfast was a large one and excellent, was value for money. All came out hot, laid out well on plate and comes with toast. Would recommend and saves cooking.

Tasty food but only a small portion of sausage and mash served on my husband's plate, expensive for the amount given. He was a little disappointed as it was for Father's day

I visited this pub earlier this year as the food was always good. Unfortunately we had not a great experience. So this weekend we thought we would give it another try. Disappointing again. We ordered our food only to be told 10mins after ordering one of the dishes had sold Out! I ordered another dish.unfortunately my friend's dish came out 10mins before mine so she had eaten hers before mine was even served.

Ordered the large burger and chips on Saturday, still waiting for the rest of it!! And I'm sorry I don't really want to call the pub. It should have been better in the first place.
