Friendly service and quick service. Great value for money with the amount of food but a couple of things that stop me giving a 5* rating. - Some items need a bit more cooking especially the black pudding and bacon. - Bits of coffee granules floating in the coffee. - Get lots of bacon but hardly any beans. - Cutlery is uncomfortable to use (too thin). They are just some minor issues, didn't stop me enjoying my breakfast and at a reasonable price too. Cakes looked amazing, wish we took some away. Would come back if in the area again.

We've been going here for a while and have to say on the outside looking in, looks a lovely family run business and on the odd visit it seems that way. Don't be fooled like we were and many other people before us by what we have been told by other venues in the area. We found out the truth behind the smile on several occasions. You're not allowed to ask for something a little different to the menu or change seats to accommodate more people or just to feel more at ease. You cannot in no certain terms make any comments, suggestions about anything to the staff because you get snapped at!! We spoke quietly and privately to one of the owners and was not expecting what we received, we were screamed and shouted at for no real reason. It was so bad that one of our friends up and left in tears. We were called hateful names and made to feel very upset so even though we had paid for our meals we up and left. We don't know if the owner was having a bad day or what but they way we were spoken to was not called for. We will definitely not be going there again, Blackwood has some other lovely places that does not treat you this way, try them.

Today i visited a cafe in blackwood where there was a misunderstanding between ourselves and assumedly the proprietors i had misread the advertising outside which on going back i did feel was unclear. We went in to the cafe which unfortunately busy with little seating available, however we did get a seat next to the counter after being served i thought i had been over charged as he charged nearly double what i had to pay. The man on the till explained that this was a take away price we were both astonished as it was a lot to pay for a bacon bap and coffee my partner said to me that this was a rip off using a profanity which the man on the till overheard immediately the lady came over with a torment of abuse and offered us our money back which i gladly accepted immediately she started shouting at us both bearing in mind i had not had the opportunity to relay my feelings she swore at me inside the restaurant and with everybody staring at us opened the door to let us out she continued to use foul language in the street and gestured the v sign telling us to go away and that we would not find a better cafe in blackwood. I can honestly say i have never been subjected to such abuse from a proprietor if that is what she was there was definitely no professionalism shown on her behalf i was blocked from leaving at one point by her that completely unnerved me she asked if i realised what it costs to run a business i did mention to her that i had experience of being a professional and in my profession would never speak to people in that manner this lady was obviously upset but under no circumstances should she have used the foul language and gestures she did use. We did however find another restaurant called the plaza where we were welcomed orders taken and delivered beautifully which we both enjoyed it was called the plaza staff were friendly and attentive which made a whole difference to our experience i am uncertain at present how to take this forward but i will ring the council for advice on how to proceed as i will not let this go as i left i was shaking and upset as i had been accused of using foul language which i do not use David jones

Visited this cafe today and suffered the onslaught of the female ( ish ) owner her language and body language she used the most foul language both inside and out the restraraunt she completely showed herself up and it was all over poor signage outside the cafe we will not visit again it was overpriced and poor quality the rolls were dry totally unacceptable and unprofessional we found another cafe the plaza excellent service amazing food and a good cup of coffee served in proper coffee cup

I have visited Woodies on numerous occasions and I will continue to do so. Always a warm friendly welcome. Prices are fair and the food is superb. 5 cakes for £10 is impossible to leave too :-) 5 stars from me

Absolutely wonderful service and food! We ordered breakfast and had specifications that were met for our food. Very prompt service and the establishment was clean with friendly staff. They have loads of vegetarian and vegan options available that don’t lack flavor and we will definitely come back for lunch!

We visit this cafe quite frequently because it always consistent good service whilst the food is very good. With good pricing and a spotless premises there is every reason to go to this cafe.

Nice local cafe, service was quick and the breakfast was really nice. At the higher end of cafe prices but reasonable enough.

We drive from Llantrisant to Blackwood because we heard of the great reputation of this cafe and we weren't disappointed. Often what let's businesses down is the staff but it's the staff, food and coffee that makes this business. A Great cafe we will be back.

The cafe has a good vegan range. The food is of a good standard. The staff are friendly, helpful and informative. Highly recommend for all visitors to Blackwood.

Amazing, stunning cakes, I of go there at least once a week with my family. You are guaranteed service with a smile and a laugh. Staff are so friendly, always up for a chat. The food is gorgeous, they have lovely milkshakes, cakes, paninis, and coffees, and I would recommend anyone coming here, whether you’re with friends or family, or on your own. ❤️ I can recommend: - Caramel iced latte - Rocky road, or brownies (any flavour) - Ice cream milkshakes - Jaffa cake cake (for chocoholics!😋) And ...... -Chocolate bar milkshakes 😛 Overall, great atmosphere and amazing food, highly recommended 🖤

Great food and service! I love the decor and seating areas . There is a large variety of foods and drinks to choose from for reasonable prices unlike a lot of cafes in the area. totally recommend trying the milkshakes to anybody that likes sweet drinks , have only tried the chocolate milkshake , but the presentation is as great as the taste . 10 / 10 !!!!!!!!!!!

Stopped off for a bite to eat today. Breakfast was lovely. I have to say the best thing about this place is the feeling of being family run by the very very friendly owners. We will definitely be coming back to support you. See you very soon!!

Lovely Food, could do with more verity on the breakfast such as hash brown, mushrooms, black pudding and tomatoes.

I’m new around Blackwood so was looking for a new ‘go to’ breakfast place, I seen Woodies on TripAdvisor with some good reviews.The fresh homemade cakes caught my eye when looking and the visually appealing menu online which is the same in person.So I dragged some family along to try it and it was amazing! We were greeted and welcomed upon entry. I ordered the traditional breakfast which was came out hot! It tasted fresh and very clean to eat, no overly greasy food here!We tried the dessert of course and had the raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake, which was yes yes yes!!!All the staff were very accommodating and we even signed up to a loyalty card (which is a little card you can put on your keys), I choose the blue one!All items on the menu are reasonably priced and when you pay, you can bring a new friend and get a free drink when you visit next. Which is what I did and returned the next day because I really enjoyed the visit! The experience was the same, the lovey lady who served us previously remembered us and was very friendly! I also had a free tea for bringing a new friend we tried the cakes today and they were equally as good as the cheesecake! I stumbled across this Cafe by chance - it is lovely. Being vegan I was delighted to find a selection of vegan cakes and they offer an assortment of dairy free milks. The staff were friendly and it's location is handy for the shops and the bus station. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

wow only word I can describe the food the lay out the setting and the staff. friendly isn't the word for it nothing is a problem food was out of this world to the point I will have to restrict my visits until my diet ends. freshly cooked whilst you wait and prices are spot on ( don't tell the owner but I'd have paid more without a quibble!!) looks like I found my regular breakfast venue.

Great coffee and superb desserts, cheesecake was 💯 and cookie dough brownie A+. Will even cook a sausage if you have a fur baby with you.

The owners/staff have always been very accommodating when I have visited. Food is always fresh and home cooked. Their dessert counter is to die for!! One word of advice though.... Make more cheesecakes! My favourites are always sold out :)

Visited here on numerous occasions and it’s never disappointed us. We initially use to go for breakfast where you can choose from a great selection from light healthy bites to hearty fry ups.

Visited here for breakfast this morning. I had fried edd on toast with beans with white bread . With wife having the same but with brown bread. All very nice ordered 2 lattes as well they were a bit strong . Overall quite good and would visit again.

I excellent stop on route back to the Sirhowy cycle trail or if you’re going the other way to Bryn Bach park

Warm welcome on arriving. Seated really quickly even though bustling with takeaways also. Were able to order exactly what we wanted. Really fast, efficient service. Food was piping hot and tasted amazing. Would definitely repeat visit on day trip to Blackwood!! thanks everyone.

I love this super friendly cafe. The breakfast is excellent and the cakes to die for. My well behaved puppy is always welcomed. Well worth the visit as ever.

Out with family for lunch before seeing Captain Marvel and, had lunch here. Was awesome, served really quickly food arrived hot and, quickly despite being short staffed. They customised our requests as well which meant there was nothing left over. Bargain as I hate waste. Food was fresh and tasty. We saw another guest enjoying an awesome looking milkshake so, after film went back for some. My grandchildren are in love with this cafe.

This dog friendly cafe has a lot to offer, a warm welcome along with a jovial repose. Our Jack(Scottish terrier) loved the attention and treats.

Have been here a few times , so it was worth writing a review. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing seems to much trouble for them. The food is freshly made and is good value and I noticed a lot of people calling in to pick up take away orders or just getting food whilst on lunch break. So overall very good value

A gem of a cafe. Exemplary, friendly service, superb coffee and a wealth of incredible healthy dishes at very reasonable prices. This cafe sets the gold standard in experience, quality and hospitality.

Staff are amazing. Can't do enough for you. Started taking my lactose free milk there and asked them to use that. Was asked why I didn't tell them and they would get some in for me. As a result they always carry a few different non dairy or lactose free options for people. Food is always cooked on spot from start to finish. Burger! Wow! virtually no fat at all. If you have a sweet tooth it's heaven! best part of 15 various cake, cheese cake, muffins. Bespoke flavours made daily. Love it. Breakfast roll with 2 filling £2.50. Not bad. Oh your taking out. What free drink would you like. Oh and have you got your loyalty card with you. It's based on visits rather than money spent. Personally I think that's a great idea. Smaller profit margins with more repeat business has to be a winning combination. Well done guys. My regular weekly go to place to satisfy any of my needs.

Woodies is a bright and friendly little cafe with a decent menu served well. There are very few vegan options in Blackwood so this place is a lifesaver and you don't feel like you are compromising on taste and you have choice! Always like to go there when in the area.

A side street cafe that does what it says on the tin, serves a good basic menu and serves it well. Unlike other cafes in the area it can make a sandwich with decent ingredients and decent flavour, the coffee is good and the breakfasts are tasty.

Went here for breakfast with my wife and son. Staff couldn't do enough for us and being a vegan there were plenty of options presented including 2 different types of cake #wellimpressed. Coffee was so tasty, better than the main chains like starbucks and costa. Will definitely come back again, a great vibe and personal and friendly atmosphere.

Received a warm welcome as soon as my friend and I walked in. Owner was so lovely, kind and pretty much just down to earth. I enjoyed the chocolate bar milkshake and my friend had the jacket potato. Very good value for money, both were super affordable. Great little place to sit down for a quick catch up, will definitely be returning! Thoroughly enjoyed our service.

Just popped in here for lunch, greeted with a warm welcome, decent menu with flexibility. I had pork and apple sauce baguette my my partner indulged in a bacon, Brie and cranberry panini. They did skimp on the volume both tasted lovely, every customer that came in were treated with a warm welcome.

Been here twice now and it's so nice here. My first visit I had a slice of Red Velvet cake and a banana and strawberry milkshake which was delicious. The second visit I had crepes and a latte with a shot of honeycomb. My friends had a the corned beef pie which they thoroughly enjoyed. Having been to almost all of the cafes in Blackwood, I can honestly say it's one of the best in terms of customer service, variety and value. Highly recommend.

Woodies is my go to place for food and drink whenever I am in Blackwood. It is a lovely and friendly cafe, and the food and drinks are always delicious. They are really accomodating to their customers needs and will adjust your meal and choices to your taste and you can mix and match from anything on the menu and anything on the menu is available to dine in or take out. The customer service really is second to none. I have not taken my autistic children there yet and I don't need to to give an opinion that Woodies are autism friendly because I already know that they would be. I am planning a trip to Woodies with them soon. Definitely my favourite and the best cafe in Caerphilly county.

We had afternoon tea £10 per head. The food was delicious and plenty of it ,in fact we took a lot home with us. Highly recommended.

I've visited Woodies a few times now and have never been disappointed. There are a wide range of food options to suit all tastes. They also have a variety of delicious cakes to tempt you! I can highly recommend the ham salad which is served with extras such as beetroot, coleslaw & pickled onions. The portions are large and definitely good value for money. I could never get a table before the extension due to its popularity. Have been lucky since but it's still always busy - Go along and see why!

Came here with my sister, nan and mum after having a good previous experience and today was the same. The food is always fresh and the prices are fab too. The service both times has been lovely they can’t do enough for you! Highly recommend a visit here!!

Called in for a coffee ended up having coffee AND Corn Beef pie which really was delicious. Great atmosphere and staff very helpful. Very clean, and convenient

Pop in here all the time for both sit in meals and takeaway. They do a variety of foods from steak baguettes to crepes and homemade cakes (which are delicious). Can't fault anything in this place. Even the queues (some days) are bareable as you know you will enjoy whatever it is you're in there to get. They run fun compitions on their social media; which, unfortunately, I've not won yet haha. The owners are genuinely great people and the staff are helpful and friendly.

This is definitely my favourite spot in blackwood to grab a coffee, eat a delicious fresh cooked meal, and finish off with a scrumptious cake. There is a wide variety to chose from, and the owners will really go out of their way to accommodate any request even if not on the menu. They also have a great loyalty card scheme.

Visited for lunch and had a delicious panini with plenty of filling. Good selection of yummy home-made cakes to choose from. Breakfast menu looks great - we will be back!

This small cafe is situated just off the High St close to the market. We sat outside with our dogs who were cared for as well as we were. Almost before we ordered our breakfasts the dogs were watered and given sausages and also pampered by passerbys. They were very happy. We both had full breakfasts with the emphasis on full. I have a large appetite and even I was filled to the brim (mind you I had to help my wife finish hers) the ingredients were good quality with the bacon and black pudding worthy of special mention. The proprietors made time for a chat even though the cafe was busy. To round it off the bill was very reasonable

This has quickly become our families favourite Saturday breakfast meet up. Some times there are two of us, some times a lot more! Either way the welcome is great and the food always fresh and top notch. If you fancy a treat the cakes are yo die for! Excellent little business and we will continue to support through the expansion.

Eaten a few times at Woodies the food is fine but no different to most cafes imo. However the homemade cakes are fantastic, deffo worth a visit.

Decided on the spur of the moment to have breakfast in town and ended up in here. So glad we made this choice. Small but clean and bright place with fantastic selection of cakes, toasties and sandwiches etc, but went on to have breakfast. Well cooked and not swimming in fat like some places. As it was freshly cooked had a little wait but worth the wait. Food was pipimg hot aand md all condiments needed was on table so no having to ask! Lovely cup of coffee as well. Some people may question the prices but my motto is you have what you pay for. Cafe does have a toilet but it is out the back emd of the kitchen.....didnt pose any problems as not that busy but cant imagine it on a busy day. Will defo return to hopefully try one of the scrummy cakes on offer.

Woodies is amazing, very friendly and welcoming. The food is outstanding, they always try and succeed so far to meet your dietary needs. The cakes look extremely delicious but sadly I'm not allowed them.

This is my sister in laws favourite coffee shop so she took us while we were visiting her. Had a lovely Ice slice vanilla slice to most people and my sister in law had a huge piece of Victoria sponge. I only wish coffee shops would have Lactoce free milk instead of this soya milk all the time why can't they have both I'm tired of having black coffee.

Nice home made food, order lunch from here often as a treat and it’s always yummy! They offer healthy lunch alternatives too which is great, nice change. The chicken kebabs are our fav, but don’t follow the Facebook page as it will make you want all the delicious cakes they have! Lol ! Brilliant service too! Best cafe in Blackwood !!

Being vegetarian I find it hard to find places that do a really nice cooked breakfast, along with really nice coffee! I went with my partner and it was such a lovely little gem! The inside is decorated beautifully, full of cake and options for both meat eaters and veggies like me! Would 100% recommend and will 10000% be going back!

I came in with my mam for the first time, I had the Nutella crepe and it was out of this world!, she had the big breakfast and said it was the best she’s ever had, can be busy on times but it’s worth the wait for a table if you want quality food!

The visit was lovley such a friendly atmosphere, staff really go out of their way to accomodate you. Food was excellent as always & reasonably priced. I ordered a large turkish delight cheesecake for new year & it was fantastic. Very good value for money.

My best friend lives in the area and I wanted us to try somewhere new for breakfast - we always like trying new and quirky places so when I stumbled upon this on Trip Advisor it all looked great!

Been several times over the last month, always warm friendly welcome. Great value food covering all the classic british brunch / lunch options with tasty home cooked food.

As you walk in the display of cakes and goodies is so tempting. We were there for lunch so ordered two lovely mains and they were happy to do special requests that weren't on the main menu. Delicious large portions. Great mug of tea. Next time...cakes!

visited here today 5/9/17 we had home made cottage pie chips peas gravy how nice it was to have a meal thats nice and hot and the cake was to die for cannot wait to go again i would highly recommend this place and staff was nice and friendly plus very good prices.

Me and my partner has visited woodies on a few occasions and have both been overelmed with the variety of food and drink offered. They offer you a mix and match on the majority of foods in their selection and catrers for all ages.

Went there today with my son and was very pleased, the owner was very friendly and welcoming, the staff was very helpful and polite, I had the roast pork dinner it was yummy just like my mam makes it, my son really enjoyed his Nutella milkshake and waffle, will definitely be making this my regular cafe when I'm in Blackwood highly recommend woodies

What a find! The breakfasts at Woodies are served all day (unlike many other cafes in town). The breakfast was plentiful & lovely. Included in the price was my tea & toast. I can't fault it, friendly staff too.

I've been to Woodies a few times over the last few weeks and enjoyed some lunch time snacks. Excellent coffee, beautiful cakes and I must mention the nachos they were amazing! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cafe to all my family and friends.

We exclusively hired Woodies for an Afternoon Tea to celebrate a colleague's retirement. The food & drinks were fresh, delicious & plentiful. The service was excellent & we were delighted with the added extras that you wouldn't normally expect with Afternoon Tea (salad/coleslaw/kettlecrisps). The bunting, balloons & personalised chalkboards were a nice touch too!

My partner and I popped in here a few weeks ago for a quick bite to eat. We had visited the place several times before under its previous owner, so we wanted to give the new owner a try. I have to say we were not disappointed. My partner had a chicken, brie and cranberry pannini and said it was one of the best he's had. I had a chicken tikka wrap which was simply fantastic. We had a choice of salad or chips with our food. I cannot fault this place. We will definitely return and I hope that the new owner makes this place a success.
