Great community pub with decent pizzas

i was so undecided what beer to get because it’s not usually something i go for but tom was so useful and suggested one that i loved

We had a 30th birthday party here and the staff were great. They accommodated everything we asked for and the pizza was lovely. A really relaxed venue and we had a great night.

Had a brilliant time at our friends’ sten do! Staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was ace - would recommend!

On a nostalgia trip with Paulicarus but like Gandalf in Moria I am struggling to remember this lovely building twixt The Orion pub and the long gone White Lion. Pub ( Now a supermarket next to the long gone flea pit Scala cinema where I saw Grease , Superman and many other 70's movies.) It was a snooker hall back in the day apparently. My mate lived across the road but just do not remember it??? Had a pint from Cloudwater brewery..unfined but very good. This a social asset business with a community room upstairs. Cashless is only negetive. Sell pizza that looks good. Good music. Apparently the tiny Burton Road brewery stsrted here.

Withington Public Hall is a wonderful wonder of a find within the wanderlust walls of Withington. The hall contains many a wonder, including the impeccably charismatic barmaid/manager connoisseur Kitwah mCcootch A.K.A kit. I would highly recommend a visitation should the opportunity arise ! It’s tucked away in a wall that you may never expect, but push on through and bask in the glory of these wonderful 7 or 8 walls!

Our sports club had the best time at WPHI!! They opened especially for us on a Sunday so we could host a quiz & pizza night 😍 The team were so accommodating during the planning process (considering there were nearly 40 of us attending!) & just amazing during the event itself. We are so grateful to WPHI for their brilliant hospitality & for helping us create a really lovely night for our club. We can't wait to come back. WPHI is such a special place. We're lucky to have it in Withy!

Had my 30th here on Saturday and it was great! Perfect chilled venue, all the staff were so nice. Arranged it with Kit, who made sure we had everything we wanted and were super accommodating with our (probably annoying) requests! Would 100% have an event here again and also it's great for a casual drink at the weekend! Thanks again!!!

Only had a delivery as yet - amazing quality pizza to rival Rudys, delivered pronto presto on a bike. Didn’t know it was open for sitting in (website lagging on updates) but will definitely make this a near-first post-lockdown visit. Go Withington! And post-lockdown, still great. Distinctive, but comfortably unpolished and a fantastic selection of mostly local beers. And always a Sour on offer and pizzas remain amazing. A hidden gem

Absolutely love this charming, traditional pub and built in multi use hall. Regularly go for their variety of funky, usually manc brews - particularly love their sours! Staff are very down to earth and accommodating, always smiling, knowledgable and really love their craft. The in-house fired pizzas also go down really well! Plenty of veg options and the definition of fresh! They sometimes have interesting events over the weekends ranging from record fairs to quizzes, but even without anything to go for, a pint in this place is a must try - you'll defo be back for more!

We booked this place for my wife’s 50th party and it was perfect. Neil was very flexible, allowing us to select the wine, food, hours, decor and space we needed. The beers are excellent and reasonably priced. We had our own DJ which worked really well. Just a great, down to earth vibe - ideal spot for a local lady to celebrate a landmark birthday with her community. Thanks to Neil, Kitty and the team for making it so memorable. We will be seeing you more often from now on, for sure.

I attended an evening "drink and draw" event here. Both the event space and bar are great - not sure why I hadn't been before!

Edit: the next time we went we had a really good time. We ordered at the bar, the service was quick and, consistent with the first time, the drinks were great, and food was tasty! :) Do orders at the bar take priority over the app? - Waited an hour and a half for pizzas, which they then told us they were out of the ingredients for. Two tables had come and gone in that time and it wasn't overly busy. Bar staff apologized, and offered a free drink that they didn't give us. Such a shame as it's a nice place - drinks were great, and the food was tasty.

Great place! Very chilled out local atmosphere. All the staff are super lovely. The pizzas are amazing! Go there almost everyother week. Never disappointed.

So lovely! Staff are so friendly, bar is great, snug is cosy and the main room is brilliant for hosting events! Basilico pizza is so tasty and really reasonably priced.

Wouldn't come to an event here. Oversold tickets without the space, got sent to another room which turned out to be another event. Guy on door thought my Asian friend was a uber eats driver....

Went here on a Sunday and enjoyed the plant based lunch immensely! Lovely salads and fritata were on offer, which my husband and I both thought were the best things we'd eaten out for a long time. Also lovely craft ale on sale, way better than anything else I've drunk in Withington for a long time!

Great venue, young and enthusiastic staff, amazing local beer selection at good prices, pizza smelled amazing although we didn't try it sadly.

Visited for the first time after lockdown for the Dead Comics Society. Staff was lovely, very cheap drinks. The comedians themselves also so entertaining, especially given the price

A proper community hub - great atmosphere, mix of clientele, and staff who really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome every time you walk through the door. Very reasonable prices, a good selection of beers and spirits, and freshly made pizza available to order from the on-site pop up. The building itself has so much character and charm and the set-up really does this justice. Great to see the place looks to be thriving.

Great atmosphere and such quick and great service. Went for a pizza on my dinner break - the vegan pizza was amazing....tasty, light and delicious. Will try the other vegan option next time. Super friendly and highly recommended. Look forward to regularly popping over :)

Loved it! We went today for the first time for a pint on our way home. We had been thinking about going but didn't happen until today and I have to say we had a great time. We were greeted so nicely by the team, they explained all the different beers they have and they were very helpful and welcoming. Haven't felt so comfortable anywhere in a long time. We're already planning on going back tomorrow.

Best place in Withington by a mile. Great beer, food, and people. Fans of all beer styles will have something for them, with an especially good offering of craft beer.

Absolutely best staff in Withington/Fallowfield, proper friendly & welcoming Pizzas were lovely too, particularly The bread. Definitely recommend getting something salty on the pizza also (e.g. anchovies/olives/sausage) Thank you!

Had a great fresh pizza on the opening day can’t wait for the withington institute to reopen some amazing plans from Mark and Neil to bring a real venue for families and all the community in withington village..

Ordered four pizzas and garlic bread. These are great pizzas really tasty and looking forward to being able to try the cinema after lockdown.

Used for a pop up pub and hopefully will continue to be used in the future. It's unchanged and very nostalgic with its wood walls! Great atmosphere and good to see well supported today for this event. Both cask and keg beers from local breweries to test.
