Wing Fat Cantonese & Chinese Restaurant in South Staffordshire

Walked in for a take away….initially ignored at the desk…informed of a wait..fair enough. Collected the food…awful. Stodgy rice, dry chicken, noodles terrible…..non of it appeared particularly fresh. Will not return. Much better elsewhere. Very very disappointing indeed..

We visited here a few days ago for a sit in meal we have been here many times in the past, the owner was not around and we were waited on by two young men. The service was very poor we waited ages to be asked if we wanted a drink then waited a long time for the food to be served, the service was very much hit & miss with the one waiter sitting down some of the time. I have heard that border control has recently visited the premises so maybe this has something to do with it. We will not be going again.

Food is amazing, staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Would really recommend this little restaurant.

Food is alot better when you eat in instead of takeaway. On takeaway duck was a bit fatty but everything was delicious when ate in. Went on a saturday night and was very empty inside so service was very good and extremely quick.

£6 for a delivery is daylight robbery we are 6 miles up the road bo mention of this fee when calling to place order thief's can justify this amount

First and last time using here. Ordered a collection, food absolutely awful, salt and chilli chips rock hard and like they’d been cooked multiple times, ribs looked cremated, curry tasted like powder, cold spring rolls, bland chowmein. Took it back and got a refund.

The food here is excellent but staff here seem to have forgotten their customers who collect their own takeaways. Having visited twice on a Friday to be told takeaway wait was up to 1 hour excited to try a Thursday. Made to wait in car for takeaway and took a good 30mins. Could see lots of food coming out for the delivery drivers. That said food was very good.

We were actually on our way to another Chinese restaurant and discovered it was closed, by chance we noticed Wing Fat was open and it was lovely. I believe it’s family run and the two young gentlemen were very attentive to our needs. Me and my mum over ordered as usual and everything was cooked to perfection. We would definitely return without a doubt.

What a lovely evening. Not been to Wing Fat for a while but when deciding on a Chinese to visit we opted for Wing Fat. The service was great with friendly attentive staff. The food was out of this world and all served piping hot and freshly cooked. The interior is a little tired but the food more than makes up for it. Highly recommended.

I saw the disappointed review from someone earlier - I guess that, as with a lot of takeaway places, there are some things they are good at and some things they are not very good at. We have never been disappointed with our choices - satay sauce dishes (eg beef - always delicious); kung po dishes (eg chicken - not too sweet or too spicy); chow mein dishes are good (but not the best I have had - although the pork chow mein is very good at Wing Fat); and sweet sour chicken batter balls (difficult to get these anglo-chinese delicacies wrong - but Wing Fat do a very good job).

This was one of the worst takeaways I’ve had in a long time. The special fried rice was egg fried rice which was dry rice which was cooked previously with some meat and veg in a separate container. The sweet and sour was over sweet and runny sauce . Very disappointing.

From the outside you won't believe how big it is , Staff are really nice and food is great and not over priced it is definitely a a go back place

I have always had a great chinese meal or takeaway here, and that goes back many years. We know Ivy and Kai well, but the last twice we have been disappointed. Whats going on guys ? Lets get those excellent standards back.

Went to this restaurant on spec Abeonse not brilliant.The place is a little dowdy. But the food makes up for that. Ordered Chinese duck crispy beef with a egg fried rice. All the food well presented cooked to perfection and Good portion sizes. Will definitely go back its a little gem.

Top service 5 star food, will definitely go back the food was excellent fresh and hot excellent service and very friendly definitely recommend.

Our only takeaway meal treat and they are always very busy so a second phone may help. Good portions and variety. Not always hot on collection.

Love coming to Wing Fat whenever I'm in the area. Large portions, reasonable price, and the service was good.

Stopped in on the way home. Ordered a spicy chow mein dish. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was tasty. If I had stayed longer in the area, would have definitely gone back again.

Mixed feelings about this establishment. Have tried various items. Some very good, some not so much. I suppose it depends on your own tastes. Give it a try.

God awful. Rock hard chicken in sweet & sour, sloppy disgusting chicken and pork in curry. Absolutely vile went straight in the bin. Used to use this place regularly but will not be using again. Gone down hill rapidly.

The food selection was huge and when served was plentiful and tasty. We weren't made to wait and the staff were attentive and helpful. I shall visit here again. Could'nt fault it.

Fancied a Chinese so because they wouldn't answer the phone we walked down to Wing Fat and asked if they had a table for us. It was full but they found us a table. Our order was taken and before we knew it, it was there on the table. I've always reckoned that if you are kept waiting then you know it was freshly cooked. My partner didn't get his vegetable rice that he had ordered to go with his king prawn and pineapple. Mine had gone cold after I had two helpings of my chicken chow mein. Those daft food warmers are useless, especially if the plate was cold in the first place. Bit disappointed to say the least .

Been very busy not visited in a few months what can I say best Chinese food I’ve tasted try the Kung po if you like a kick the ribs are to die for can’t wait to come back service staff perfect as always

Tried here on a Saturday evening whilst visiting Penkridge-small but busy restaurant serving great food, lovely staff and very reasonably priced-will definitely be returning-recommend the Kung Po Chicken -one of the best I have tried

Simple establishment in the centre of Penkridge - ideal for a meal either before or after you visit to the Littleton or Star for a drink. Service, quality and quantity of food is excellent - takeaway and delivery service is also good

Went here for a romantic meal for two,although the take away side was very busy and visible the food here is second to none.I had the the spare ribs and crispy duck with rice it was lovely,perfectly cooked sauces were fantastic.my partner had chicken curry and rice and stated it was the best chicken curry she's had will be visiting again very soon

We have ordered from this takeaway twice whilst staying in a local hotel. Had to wait 45 mins for it to be delivered but worth the wait as it was really good! Definitely recommend.

This is a must visit or takeaway. DO NOT BE PUT OFF by decor. The food service and price is just top notch

We always use Wing Fat it’s fantastic, the staff and restaurant is lovely. We always get a take away and it is our favourite place, the vegetarian curry is the best! My husband has the chicken curry and loves it

We live in Cannock that is about 10 mile away from Penkridge and one thing that drives me mad is if you order a special dish you always get shrimps not prawns, we have tried every Chinese on Cannock and they are all the same you have to order them as a extra and one night we just went out for a drive over the Chase and found the little gem of a restaurant so we thought we would try there takeaway and 2 years later we use it every other Friday and we can say every meal has been the best we have tasted. OK yes it is quite small and there can be a await for your food but have a drink and read the newspaper and it is worth the wait.

We have always chosen Wing Fat as our Chinese of choice in Penkridge but our recent takeaway was very disappointing. We ordered our food at 6.30 for an agreed 7.00 pick up only to arrive and have to wait until 7.30 all the time watching people order and collect in front of us! They were apologetic but the service just wasn't good enough.

As ever the food was good however the service was deplorable. Ordered at 6.30pm and told would be ready at 7pm. It eventually turned up at around 7.45pm. Our displeasure increased by folk turning up whilst we waited and getting food well ahead of us. Understand it is Saturday and busy but would appreciated some truth. Meal spoilt.

Another fantastic evening. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service is great. Never seems to be many people dining in but the takeaway service always seems very busy.

Wing fat has always been a bit of a hidden gem. I'd not been for ages so was pleased to find it was still great quality and value. It was busy too for a Wednesday night. Crispy beef was great as were the Singapore noodles. Service a little slow but they were busy. Just the decor let's it down a bit but we weren't overly bothered by it.

Had a take away from here recently, was 2nd in restaurant after it opened and had to wait over 35 minutes for order, everyone else was also moaning. The food has changed a lot recently, we had a chow main, a special curry and more....

My daughter and I always call in at the Wing Fat for an evening meal when passing through Penkridge after a visit to the Severn Valley area. The food is excellent quality and the set meals in particular are good value. Service is quick and friendly. Parking is available by the nearby parish church.

I appreciate they must be busy but trying to order a takeaway for 50 minutes and either line is busy or goes to answer service that advises me I can't leave a message. Very frustrating.. Generally food is ok and serves well as a takeaway when we can get through.

Food ok, nothing fantastic,restaurant in need of make over but ok.Out of curiosity looked up their food hygiene rating on line to find it quite low with poor ratings, we found food ok but this does put you off a little.

I keep trying other Chinese restaurants but I don't know why as it is never as good as Wing Fat. The service and quality of food is sublime. No wonder there is always a constant stream of take-away orders being delivered as well as restaurant customers. A truly great restaurant for Chinese food. .

Ordered takeaway was told had to wait an hour which was fine, I ordered steak and chips and chicken curry.. Although steak was nice, chicken curry was tasteless, runny and chicken was like rubber.. shall not bother again.

having left Ego in Cannock in disgust at the appalling service myself and my colleague found ourselves in quite a different restaurant Wing Fat in penkridge, service was absolutely amazing, we literally had food on the table in 5 minutes, quality was excellent, certainly going to recommend this place to all my friends and colleagues, well done WING FAT, transformed and evening that was potentially ruined by the poor service at EGO

This really is a great Chinese restaurant. Whilst it appears a little drab inside the quality of the food and service more than makes up for it. Would highly recommend as a great restaurant.

Very small restaurant that is in desperate need of a re-vamp. The food is very very average - on the verge of poor, traditional dishes far too hot or no taste. Stale prawn crackers, dry chips and hard rice.Up until my visit I had never had DRY bbq spare ribs. Will never go back

The actual restaurant is small and has little atmosphere. However, if you want a brilliant meal then visit Wing Fats. Parking is round the back.

The food at Wing Fat is just beautiful. The interior is basic but clean and the service is great and friendly. By far the best Chinese food for miles and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Couldnt decide where to eat in Penkridge. We came across the Wing Fat chinese and decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed.Pretty basic inside. I know the title sounds quite limiting but I think we have 4 Chinese restaurants in Penkridge, and it's a pretty small place! Good service, very prompt! Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly. Favourites are crispy shredded beef and sweet and sour chicken balls.

Don't be put off by the lack of kerbside appeal, this is a really good Chinese restaurant. Only a small dining area and does get really busy but the food is fresh and tasty, service is attentive and staff are happy and smiley.

Visited Saturday evening for a table of 8. Had starters and mains. Service was excellent. Good arrived in good time, order was all correct and warm and tasted really good!! Venue could do with a refurb, but the food and service you can't really fault!

An evening meal with husband. The best Hot n Sour soup that I ever tasted! My main course were mushrooms chowmein, beef with chilli, and boiled rice. Tasty food and a good service throughout. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our evening at this little restaurant. In particular, the staff stand out as friendly and helpful. Our food was delicious - we would definitely visit again.Only down side was that some lads ordered lots of food, ate most of it then did a runner without paying. How low can you get? The staff responded in truly courteous manner, clearing the table and still smiling - although I presume that was a lot of their profit gone for the evening. Do support this little place - they really deserve it!

This is a very small restaurant but big on quality. We had a quarter of aromatic duck to start. Very nice with plenty of pancakes.For main we had Mussels in Black Bean Sauce, Chicken with fresh asparagus, and Pork Kung Po.Each of these dishes were exceptionally good. Good quality ingredients. Piping hot.The service was exceptionally good and really efficient. Very happy and smiley staff. Loved it.

We are regulars here. Great service, great prices both eat in and take away. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal in the 2 years we've been going! Eating in is always really pleasant too.

The dining area in the Wing Fat is quite a small, narrow area. The staff were very friendly and service was very swift. One of the best Chinese restaurants we have eaten in in England. The take-away part of the business was very busy with many orders going out by taxi. The phone was ringing constantly with incoming telephone orders, -a sign of good food. This is despite there being another Chinese restaurant in Penkridge and a take-away!

Had a very nice meal here. Only had takeaways before. Attentive waiting staff. Food hot and plentiful. Seemed no time at all since our order was taken. Given prawn crackers to munch on while we waited. Prices not bad at all. Drinks prices on par with most places.

It was our first visit to the Wing Fat and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was freshly cooked and delicious.The portions were generous and it was an altogether enjoyable experience.

I suppose you can say that this place makes its money on their take away service judging buy the comings and goings of the delivery personel , but the small narrow restaurant has plenty of atmosphere the service is always good, and having eaten there on countless occasions touch wood I've never had a 'bad one'The meals are very generous and the set meal at £17 per head is a great value for money.Happy eating

Have been ordering take away from Wing Fat for absolutely ages and have always enjoyed it. However, the last 2 or 3 meals have been below the expected standard. Everything just seems to taste the same, looks grey and the meat is very fatty. Maybe they have a new chef and a smaller budget?

Our normal takeaway was closed for holiday. Thought we'd try Wing Fat. Stood waiting for 5 minutes for them to take our order, which I thought was rude, while she talked on the phone and disappeared out back. Eventually took notice of us and took our takeaway order. Waited 25 minutes. The food was fine, typical Chinese takeaway. Nothing special.

I visited the Wing Fat restaurant in Penkridge on 12 December 2015. We had a superb meal with sizzling steaks, beautifully presented, plentiful portions and wonderful service. This is excellent fresh Chinese food. I recommend you go there as soon as possible.

Have been to Wing Fat many times for a sit down meal. Well it does look a bit dated inside but the food and service is faultless and always leave having enjoyed the food.

Great food, excellent menu. Friendly service, staff make you feel welcome. Pleasant restaurant, small and nothing flashy, just clean and tidy. Easy parking nearby. Reasonably priced. They also have an alcohol licence so you don't need take your own.

Food is always great and we are regular customers but the staff have no customer service skills and when I called today the woman that answered was rude and obnoxious telling me that there's no point in me giving my name when just an address will do if I want delivery... she didn't even ask if I wanted it to be delivered or collected in the first place. Never be rude to customers, especially regular customers, because it doesn't matter if your food is good, a bad attitude from the staff will ruin it as it has for me

the service was excellent and the food was ok,although the chef did make a mistake on the startersthe takeaway side of the business seemed to be far more busier than the restaurant , but we weren't forgotten. Place not clean toilet disgusting .food was edible least we wasnt ill the next day.several people walked out after seeing decor & how tables on top of each other.shoudnt even have the3 food rating needs closing down for deep clean & decorating.

The food is average and is poor for the price. The tables and serviettes are made of paper making it feel cheap.. I'm stuck for a good alternative in the Penkridge area.

We placed an order and was advised 90 mins(1.5hrs) this arrived over 3 hours later!!!!!!!!!! was new years eve but if they quote a time you should get your food by that time

Nearly 90 minutes for the food to be delivered, said roughly 40 minutes- no explanation given. I've also noticed the food is rushed and isn't to it's usual standard compared to when you have one in midweek considering to a Friday/Busy time of the year. Obviously no organisation such as extra drivers etc.

During a visit to penkridge we decided to eat in wing fat. From the outside it looks like a takeaway but inside is lovely but more importantly the food was great,we will definitely be returning to penkridge just to eat at wingf at.

Eaten here many times , but recently they have upped the ante on food, good tasty food served quickly and without fuss or hassle. Yes the surroundings are dated but I go to eat and the food is good quality and very tasty.
