Table of 10 of us enjoyed a lovely evening at Minhs, some of us had a set menu, some of us had specific dishes, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food, The Staff were lovely, could fault it.

Hi first I would like to say the review is for minhs at Shifnal the same place as the photo on the review. Hi we went on a family meal here it has always been one of our family's bests places to eat. But I must say that at the moment it's not good at all. Very few dishes out for the buffet and pudding were a poor show. Normally in our past experience with this restaurant the service and food quality has been really good. But today I can only describe it as poor. We won't be rushing back.

This newly decorated restaurant as been renamed The Sizzling Wok. It is an all you can eat menu, and cooked fresh when ordered. Good value for money and the food is served hot and delicious when required. The staff are very friendly and very attentive.

This was a spur of the moment 'drop in' for something to eat occasion and although the place was empty I noticed a lot of take aways being collected. A lovely decorated clean dinning area tables were roomy and the chairs looked as if there had been recently replaced. The service was prompt and the food came hot in warm serving dishes. We weren't rushed which I find happens in 'Cantonese ' eateries sometimes, but I did say we were in no rush and the food was served exactly as I liked it. On a down side there is a flat screen TV on one of the walls which I don't like in a restaurant but that's personal I guess, your eye line tends to keep going to it. The restaurant has been there for many years, which says something, I can't comment on how they coup with a full dinning area so the service might differ. However, give it a go I don't think you'll be disappointed

Minhs was always the best Chinese restaurant/takeaway in Penkridge but went through a poor period when the ownership changed. The original owner is now back and the food is back to its' best. We had a takeaway last night and every single dish was really fresh and well cooked. We have been using New Garden over the last year or two but they have never reached the standard of Minhs before the change in ownership. The restaurant has been decorated really well but the sheer quality of the ingredients Minhs use and the excellence of the chef again make Minhs the best Chinese in the village - glad to have them back!

Called in last night on a whim. We were originally going next door for a kebab but did a last second food swerve. There were several other diners in but we were seated and served in minutes. Two sizzling specials, two drinks and a delightful experience. I see the place is still getting many mixed reviews on here, but our visits have always been great.

This is a great place for lovely food, well cooked and great help from staff to select the best food and value. The service was first class and I would highly recommend calling in to select from a great menu.

Minhs food is lovely the staff are great and if you want a relaxing night out its a clean and friendly place. Never had a bad meal or experience with them, eating in or take away. The mixed plater is fantastic and the seaweed is lovely, if they ever make a mistake they are more than happy to put it right. I would highly recommend it;)

We would never use Minhs in Penkridge again , they can't get an order right and the food we did get was not that food. Waste of money.

Popped in on the off chance Wednesday 2 December. The service was first class, seated and drink order taken within minutes. Food order taken by a very pleasant gent (bald head and I don't have a name sorry). Food came to table very prompt, was hot and oh so tasty. Although the restaurant was very quiet the food was exceptional.

I have been using this restaurant for over twenty years, whether it be a sit down meal or takeaway, but I was shocked when I ordered a takeaway the other night. We normally have a set meal for three and the first thing I noticed that the price had gone up £5.00 from the other month ?. Not the odd pound, FIVE pounds. When we got it home, there was only one rice portion between three of us and the main meat/chicken dishes were full of vegetables, with little meat. The taste and quality was still there, but I just got the feeling I was being ripped off, compared with the excellent servings we use to have. I do hope this was a 'glitch' and their quality and value will return, but I will be wary next time we visit.

We haven't eaten here in ages, but thought we would give it a go. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and the flavours were lovely. The service was very good and Peter was a great host - we won't leave it so long before we go back.

Have been visiting this restaurant for 20+ years and have only ever had one meal that wasn't excellent. Food is just to die for!! Paper wrapped ribs are delicious, as is the sizzling steak. Just a couple of our favourites. Set meals are around £25/30 head but well with it. A definite must go too.Staff friendly.

Used to go every week ,has had same decor for years ,has changed hands several times ,have not been for 6 months as last time the food was awful ,staff changed & did not enjoy,will not go again

We had our second takeaway from here this year and it was simply the worst food I have ever had in fact so bad we threw most of it away! The Cantonese sweet and sour chicken consisted of a few tough battered pieces of chicken with two chunks of pineapple and a slice of green pepper. My husbands chop suey had one prawn loads of chewy beef and soggy bean sprouts no other vegetables at all.the sauce it came with was green! I kid you not! If you want a good takeaway in penkridge use the evergreen.

Called here for a meal last Saturday evening. There were probably 3 other couples in the restaurant but it certainly didn't detract from the quality of the food we received. Piping hot and very tasty. Served with a smile and our order arrived very quickly. Both of us enjoyed our meals and despite the lack of other customers we would certainly return.

The food and service are good but I feel that the food quality could be improved for the price.The service is good and there is a very nice and varied menu.

One of the nicest takeaway meals I have had in a long time, I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

I have had many takeaways from Minhs, and they are always good quality, and the service is always friendly.

I have lived in the village for 25 years and have eaten in Minhs 4 times in that period as it has always been terrible. I decided that it cant always be that bad so I decided to try it once again. Firstly, check the food standard rating, it was 1 out of 5 when I visited. The restaurant looks grim and dirty, I didn't get to see the kitchen but if the front of house is bad, I hate to think what could be behind closed doors. After struggling to get served, the drinks were slow in supply and the food was sporadic in service with different dishes arriving at different times. Some of the dishes were hot on cold plates, some cold on red hot plates. The quality was poor, staff uninterested. I think it will be 25 years before I try again, which is a shame as I live 2 minutes walk away.

Visited last night with friends, we ordered the set meal which I have to say was quick service and very tasty. I do love Minhs chicken curry especially.My only critique would be the waitress service, they seemed to be gathered around chatting a lot at the back of the restaurant, we waited several times for them to come past so we could ask for another drink,I think that they should pay a little more attention to the customers.Cannot fault the food, one of my favourite chinese's around.

I hadn't been to this restaurant for years now but when I walked in we found it was exactly the same as we'd all remembered it. Same decor, same gent pottering around delivering meals to people. The place was empty apart from another couple of tables so we sat down and got some drinks, just soft (It was a Sunday evening) We all had soup to begin, Hot and Sour was mine and it was nice but I like mine with more of a kick still tasty though. Followed by a mixed sharing starter between the three of us. Just your average Chinese starters, spare ribs and chicken satay and the likes. Again, was good.For main I tried something new, the Ma Po Tofu, which was minced pork cooked with tofu in a spicy sauce. This was okay, there wasn't enough sauce to make the tofu interesting enough and I wouldnt have it again. I did try some of the food from the other I was with and theirs was good!Like the title states, it was a decent meal but the price of it was a couple of pounds (per dish) more expensive than I would have liked to pay for. Saying this, if in the area again I would drop in to visit.

Went and had a meal with friends in the restaurant and really enjoyed it.Food was good and plenty of it. All was served very quick and couldn't fault the staff although the did seem to be an issue between the boss and the one bar staff member witch didn't look very good from a customers point of view and was a shame for an other wise great meal

Cannot believe how poor this restaurant has become. We used to visit on a regular basis, but it has slipped a bit at a time. We often went for new year's eve, but eventually gave up when there was only our table and one other eating in. No atmosphere at all - especially as we were each put at opposite ends of the room. It was always really full on a new years eve! I have finally given up going after our last meal - a take away. My "crispy lemon chicken" was obviously just heated in the microwave so was gloopy and inedible. Instead of taking it back, I will be voting with my feet. A real shame as it was always an excellent place to take visitors in the village!

Having dined at PENKRIDGE for over 20 years, we will not be returning. Waiter (older one) totally unhelpful, literally tossed paper napkins across table. In 3.5 hours no one asked us if we wanted more drinks, each and every time had to try to flag somone down. Had to collect own cutlery from the tray! Hot food served on freezing cold plates so cold within minutes, including starters and main course. Again no one asked how meal was at any point. Mardy head waiter combined with cold food, place has gone downhill. Two younger waiter/waitress tried to help but clearly have no influence. Shame was best restaurant for years, now I would not ever recommend. Visited Saturday 31st January 2015' 4 people.

We too were in Minhs on Saturday 3rd December, a party of 7 adults and 2 children ( 5 and 7). It was quiet when we entered for our pre-booked (that afternoon) table but quite full when we left. When I paid the bill the take-away business was in full swing, that much was obvious. Having never dined out here ever, but most certainly being experienced in the particular cuisine on offer it was perfectly fine. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the 2 little ones cleared up what any of the adults had failed to finish just to press that particular point. We live locally and don't usually eat out for oriental, we prefer to have it delivered from a rival establishment, so we certainly are unbiased in our findings. From reading reviews already posted I'm a touch suprised, but it was getting very busy as we left and staff did seem to be getting a touch overwhelmed by the pace and demand of things around them. My advice (if anyone cares)... book a table for early on and enjoy it. We most certainly did.

New Year's Eve catastrophe , food crap, service worse , don't waist your time , after 17. Yrs this place wants closing down. We walked out after 1/ half hours waiting for Burnt crap

We have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years and never had a bad meal till we went on New Year's Eve 2014. For the last 4 yrs we have been and had our New Year's Eve meal at this restaurant and always had a great meal, till now. Where to start, the staff were running around like headless chickens and were almost rude in their manner. We had to ask where our starters were as we had been waiting over an hour for them, the waiter disappeared and never came back so we asked another girl who said she would try and find out what was happening, mean while 2 separate tables of diners got so fed up they left, part of our first course arrived and was thrown on to the table, it was edible but only just. 3hrs later we finally got all our food which was only just ok, not the normal standard that this restaurant produces. We did get a reduction off the bill but only when we argued the case. There was a lot of takeaways coming out of the kitchen and it was obvious that they were taking priority. The management need to sort this restaurant out as it is going down hill fast. We will be visiting the mandarin at catch corner next time.

This used to be my favourite restuarnt ever. The food was always so succulent and the staff so attentive and friendly. Plus the resturant is welcoming and has a friendly atmosphere. However, last night I visited and found that the usual team were not there (word on the grapevine is that the head guy left in a massive rage) and I must say you could really tell..... My food was not as good as the amazing dishes I usually love so much... Instead my spring rolls were greasy and did not come with any dipping sauce, and my main was dry and had loads and loads of green peppers in. I really hope that this arguement gets sorted so that the Minhs I usually rave about gets back to its ususal exceptional standards!

I recently phoned a takeaway order through and was told it would take 25 minutes. I arrived at Minhs 25 minutes later, paid for my takeaway and sat and waited and waited and waited and waited…………Customers coming in after me were leaving before me with their HOT food. When I eventually asked where my order was, it had been sitting on the counter all the time I had been in there. This is not the first time and will not be using Minhs again.

Always used to have takeaways from here when living in Penkridge. Ive visited since not living in Penkridge too. Never had a bad meal. Reasonable prices.

What more can we say good service and good food. A winning combo. Go and try it you wont regret it. A good location next to the shops with lots of parking.

We've been getting takeaways from Minh's for a good few years and never been disappointed - until tonight! The food has not been good at all. The meat in the starters was chewy and tasteless and we were not given any sauces to accompany the ribs. The seaweed portion was far too small for two people and again was chewy. Both main courses were OK but not of the high quality that we have come to expect. Has the management and/or chef changed? We're now searching for a new Chinese from which to get out Saturday night takeaway!

My husband and I decided to go to Minhs of penkridge as a last resort as to where to eat we arrived about 630pm plenty of seat and choice of many we ordered out meal and was pleasantly surprised how delicious all three courses were we had the set menu for two The price of the lager was very reasonable as was the wine The manager was very nice I think is name is Martin and nothing was too much trouble I would recommend to anyone who is eating to give it a try

Been here many time both take away and sit in meals. Use to be superb but its very 50 / 50 these days some times its nice sometimes its not. Sizzling Steak is not very nice at all ! Does not even taste like steak. This place has the potential to be top quality but seems to lack a little in places.

First visit and we enjoyed it! Very quite which was a shame.The service was friendly and attentive The food was tasty, we've eaten in minhs at SHIFNAL and tettenhall and it was almost as good as the other two. It was a Sunday night and feel they could do a buffet as there was room and loads of empty seatsWe would also like to say that they didn't have any food heaters for our food which is very unusual

We have never had a bad meal here, the service is always good. The Tampura king prawns are excellent and the lemon chicken is one off the best I have ever had. If you like ribs try the paper wrapped ones they are great.

Regular take away, normally around the £50-£60 pound mark, sometimes very very good but sometimes had a very poor meal, over cooked and far too salty and sometimes a little dearer than one expected. The host Martin and Mai, very pleasant, seems the chef seems to change giving different qualities of food, but better than any other takeway in the area, at least the dishes do taste different from one another. Eating in, is far better.

Wanted a late supper when staying nearby, found this Chinese restaurant and although there weren't many other diners, gave it a go. Service friendly and efficient, food just fine, one dish not good and this was deducted from the bill without fuss. I can recommend it.

We had an excellent set meal for 4, the service was good and quick and we would recommend it to all those who enjoy Cantonese food.

We have visted this place well over 20 times. The food is the very best in the area. Try the fillet steak it is out of this world. The staff are friendly the drinks are a fair price. They sont rush you out of your seat or table. Very nice place to spend a bday or new year etc. try this place it is very good.

Had a set meal for 2 (£17.00 per head) excellent quality meals . Food was hot and tasted fresh. Overall very enjoyable night out.

Lovely food plenty to choose from if not on the menu will do their best to provide it. The service from staff are both helpful and friendly. The premises look nothing from the outside but give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Worst restaurant I've had the misfortune to try and eat in for a long time.Having booked a table long in advance for New Years Eve, it was not particularly welcoming to have to stand outside on the pavement waiting to even get into the restaurant. This was due to the sheer number of people inside queuing to be seated.Inside was an even greater shambles with the previous sitting still midway through their meals as a result of under-staffing, kitchen delays and the fact that takeaways were still being prepared in priority to seated guests. Many people from the earlier sitting were complaining of 20 to 30 min delays between courses. After nearly 30 minutes of standing waiting to be seated we gave up and sought out another restaurant.I was reluctant to go to this restaurant after a similarly poor experience earlier in the year. It has since gained new owners and management. Sadly the service is still utterly awful and way below an acceptable standard.My parents have used this restaurant for years but it is now sadly one to avoid.

This restaurant is pretty unassuming, set in a parade of local shops in Penkridge, but once inside the food is very good, good value and service is excellent. Try it!

Instead of the usual takeaway, 4 of us went to Minhs for an evening meal out. We had the set meal for 4 which could not be faulted. The quality and quantity of the food together with the service was excellent. The staff were helpful cheerful and polite. Thoroughly recommended.

We decided to have a meal for two costing £18 per person as we were particuarly hungry. This included a mixed starter of prawn toast - delicious, spare ribs - juicy and tender with lots of meat, a beef kebab and a chicken kebab, a lovely crisp spring roll, and crispy seaweed all served with a very nice dipping sauce. Before our dish of starters arrived we were given a large dish of prawn crackers. The main course included lemon chichen, sizzling beef, chichen in black bean sauce and the best special fried rice I have had. The service was friendly and quick and there was plenty, in fact what we didn't eat was packed for us to take home. An excellent meal that we realy enjoyed.
