The staff were very helpful and friendly. We found everything very clean and tidy. When we placed our order we did not have long to wait for our food and drinks. The food was tasty at a reasonable price and we will definitely call back again.

Really bad. I hadn't visited here for a few years until lastnight and to be honest I wasn't happy with any of it. The woman serving was lackadaisical and slightly rude. I was seated at a very sticky table. After making my order I had the menu on the table, to which I was asked in a condescending manner "Can you pop that menu in there for me yea." Indicating that I put the menu back in the stand. Maybe they didn't want the Menu sticking to the table. The food was not satisfying in the slightest. I ordered Hunters Chicken. What I recieved was a very small amount of cold chips...butterfly chicken breast topped with a slither of melted cheese, two pieces of ghe smallest streaky bacon and BBQ sauce. Whilst sat there right after food they started emptying bins around us and talking about the time, almost as if they were hinting for us to hurry up as there was hardly anyone in there. Maybe they get to close earlier if there's no custom? I wish I'd just gone to McDonald's.

Went here to watch football whilst away on a course. Tried to order food but the barman said no. Tried the restaurant but told an hours wait even though only half a dozen people in there. Adding insult to injury they then took an order from people sitting by us. Seems you are only welcome here if you are local.

Took my family for a meal at the Willow Tree on April 7th. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed it. Staff warm and friendly and very efficient. A special mention for Ashton who provided excellent service to our table. Been many times before and always enjoyed the experience.

Booked a table for 7pm Thursday evening, arrived to a sign saying 'no chips available' which wasn't a huge issue but a bit of a let down considering we were looking forward to steak & chips, manager sat us and told us he would be over to take our order shortly, sat there for 15 mins waiting while others who came in after us got served, so we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere, terrible service will not be returning

Meals very small and the quinoea salad ateaspoon of quinoea was served on plate. Well to call it a salad is a insult to a well made and prepared salad. . No cucumber one cherry tomato and 12 salad leaves. That's a side salad at best. Not a salad with a meal. Pepper sauce bland and very poor portion third of a small gravy boat not as displayed on pictures. Small portion of peas and mushrooms. Fatty steak,small portions of food nothing as displayed on Web picture. Extremely small portions. . Not a good food experience even with 30%, off poor, very poor. Service not good, not enough staff they were run off their feet. Such a shame as this is going downhill. Decided to go elsewhere for coffee and cake. Would not recommend.

Place was half empty yet it took 20 minutes to receive drinks ordered and 40 minutes to receive food ordered ! Had to chase waiting staff for attention one couple ordered drinks but had to fetch them there self's from the bar ! The young staff gave poor impression you need at least 2 behind bar and three more waiting staff

The Willow Tree had become one of our favourite places after the refurb. Sadly, after last night's visit we won't be rushing to return. Arriving gave us a bad vibe with the greeter seemingly unsure of how to use the computer to find our booking - we stood at the entrance a fair few minutes while he scrolled through looking bemused. We were then shown to our table and told to order at the bar when we were ready. I stood at the bar for quite a while before getting served - there was no staff member behind the bar and no queue. Both rosé and lemonades I ordered were actually made with soda. The food arrived after 40 minutes - it wasn't our order. Five minutes later our order arrived and was such a disappointment. Both steaks were overcooked. The fries were just about lukewarm, the peas and onion rings were pretty much cold. The gravy to go with the pie was so thin, looked like dirty dish water and had no taste. If we hadn't already waited 45 minutes, we would have sent all three meals back. No staff came to check on us and there was no one at the bar to tell on leaving. The visit was for a birthday and really took the shine off the occasion.

I had the Gammon main course, very nice. blood Orange Chocolate Brownie for dessert which was amazing.

On arrival seen the sign stating items not on the menu and the feeling of dread checked in at desk sat at table waiter took our order and pleased our order was on. Very quick service food arrived within 15 minutes and pleasantly surprised both our roast dinner looked good and even better cooked well spot-on had pudding very pleased wife happy which is always a good thing. We'll be back soon

I visited recently with my elderly, disabled grandparents for their wedding anniversary celebration. There were a few issues with tables to begin with despite booking in advance for 5 guests but they were rectified fairly quickly. From then on our waitress for the evening, Zoe, couldn't be more helpful and had plenty of patience with my grandfather's forgetfulness. We all had a lovely evening, all of our meals (steaks, burgers and chicken pie) were cooked to perfection and delicious, as were the puddings. We also took advantage of the 30% off main meals offer currently running via the website/through the post so that was an added bonus to our evening.

4 of us went to Willow tree in Brynmawr today at lunch time . Meal was absolutely lovely * we all agrree ) and waiter Ashley was so friendly and helpful .. will deffo going here more regular .

Booked in for the Tuesday night quiz, we had also attended the previous Tuesday only to be told that it was cancelled that night due to illness. We were assured, that it would be happening the following week, however it was cancelled again without any notification. The owner, was nowhere to be seen and left it to his staff to explain. I have given 5 stars to the staff for their service however, zero stars go to the owner. I can safely say we will not be coming again

Booked in for the quiz with a older man last week. He said that the quiz would definitely be on when we booked. Turned up tonight with blank faces from staff who explained there was no quiz. The lady was lovely when explaining the situation however I feel its important to mention that plans were made to come over to Brynmawr as we do not live local to be told that there weren't a quiz. It's unbelievable that a quiz night has been advertised for at least for weeks and not one has took place. The lady explained that there is no quiz available, no prizes, no microphone so facilitating a quiz would be extremely difficult anyway. Why would you advertise an event if you aren't able to fulfil it. Very poorly organised by management!

The food was nice enough, but service was not the best. Abrupt ( boarder line rude) greeting from the person on the door. However, the waiting staff seemed happier to serve us.

Service a bit slow but it was busy, food very good but the fat on the belly pork needed more rendering.

Dined there for lunch on Wednesday Had. A dish from the lunch menu Hunters chicken to say I was surprised is an under statement A very SMAll portion of chicken a cremated slice of streaky bacon no cheese and a small amount of sauce. I did ask for mashed potatoes instead of chips and this was cold. So won't be dining there again what a disappointment

Mixed opinions here. The Hunters Chicken, wasn't all that, salad garnish didn't look fresh, was wilted, two types of cheese must have slipped off the plate, portion was not adult size. Pretty disappointing for the first time at this place. Two meals including drinks £27.00 so price pretty good. #marstonspubs

It was standard but me and my mum was confused about one thing, how on earth did the cooks get the half tomato to taste like fish?? It was strange. Also service could've been quicker but overall it was good

On arrival we were greeted and seated very efficiently, drinks were brought to us quite quickly and the meal was excellent. how ever there was no follow up for dessert. by now we had changed our minds and wanted to pay and go. Although I asked our waitress for the bill nothing happened in the end I went to the bar to pay, this it turns out was the new normal. I do not mind paying at the bar but I would like to be told this is the procedure so I do not sit and wait for a long time.

Staff are always friendly and professional. We were served by Ben on this occasion who was lovely and attentive when we needed to move tables because the sun was too strong. All the staff were helpful. All took a pride in what they did. Some were even touching up some paintwork as we were leaving. We like the light bite menu too. A decent portion but not too big. Thank you for bringing them back.

Lovely visit yesterday. Although it was busy we had our drinks straight away and our food was out within fifteen minutes. The veggie burgers and gammon were cooked perfectly and our desserts were fab. Our server Chelsie was great, nothing too much trouble for her. Thank you, all!

Chelsea really shouldn't be in front of the house. There's no smile. You walk in to be greeted by a sturn face. It's like she doesn't want to be there & it reflects in her customer service. She makes you stand at the computer while she taps around on it & depending on her mood, she'll find you somewhere to sit. We got seated and had food. My elderly uncle, who's on a walking stick, walked in with my aunt & cousin. They hadn't booked but hoped for a table. They stood at the desk while Chelsea tapped around on her computer & said "sorry we're fully booked." My poor uncle never goes out, but this day he fancied lunch. Anyway, 5 minutes later, a couple came in. Kevin (the other manager) went to the desk, he quickly looked around and said "If you don't mind waiting, I'll clear that table by there (which was a table for 4 people) and you can go there." Why couldn't Chelsea accommodate my uncle, aunt, and cousin like that? I think it's awful. She just couldn't be bothered. There were only 3 empty glasses on the table, a quick wipe over, and they were seated. We used to go to this establishment atleast once a week. We haven't gone since 1st week of march because of her.

Great food & Great Service from.our server Zoe. Would more than recommend. I had the mega mix grill and portion size was huge. Great taste. Again, amazing service from Zoe. Also, Great singing from the kitchen chefs 😆

Had a lovely experience this evening. I had the Mac and cheese starter with BBQ pulled pork for a starter and it was stunning. I would 100% recommend the ultimate chicken burger, the hash browns were so crispy it was amazing! Zoe was lovely and brough a great energy to the whole experience.

The food was lovely, the service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful! It's clear that the workers are enjoying themselves which shows that it's a great place to work, but our waitress Zoe was also fab and just brought good energy to the restaurant! 10/10!

A warm welcome lovely seating very comfortable. Fast friendly service. Food was hot and well cooked tasted gorgeous and well presented. Cleared away efficiently and sweet served promptly. Overall a very enjoyable experience that I will be repeating again soon.

Food was poor quality and small amounts. Then realised we were over charged and this isn’t the first time

Zoe was our waitress today and she was so welcoming. She came to take our drink order really quietly, and made sure we had everything we needed. She was very friendly and had a good warm smile. We come here quiet often and we are very pleased with the service we have each time.

Food was far from the best it was at the table within about 10 minutes and cold I think it was standing in the kitchen before we got to the pub

Good choice on menus. Reasonable prices. Staff always courteous. Speed of service OK. The only negative comment: I had booked in advance, and that was fully recorded; but a table had been set aside in perhaps the least desirable corner of the restaurant. It was quiet, but dark and cut off from everyone else.

Staff very helpful, everyone enjoyed their food. We had a relatively large party of 12, and although the food was served slightly later than we would have liked it was all hot and all of us were served together

Was asked to take a seat and we will be seen to. Waited and waited and just got overlooked again and again for 10 minutes. I had to walk out. Zero consideration was given to serve me and my colleague. I would find better service on Ryan Air. Please when i come again can you show us some effort to serve us and not waste our time.

Absolutely beautiful meal, perfectly catered for my baby, allowing us to keep his pram at our table with lots of space. The service was prompt and friendly, our waitress was Zoe and we couldn't recommend her enough. Bubbly and a genuine nice person, Zoe you made our evening special. Thank you

Fab place! Popped in for lunch and our waitress was so lovely and welcoming, she really went out of her way to accommodate, she has a London accent didn't catch her name.

Good service, but for healthier options, the jacket potatoes are so dry and so hard to eat, they must be the frozen ones you buy, they are really not nice, I'm a fussy eater so I have jacket potato as they don't offer new potatoes, but other food I've had from there before has been nice, chicken can be dry but, nit everyone has chicken n jacket spud!

Considering when you have booked a table and you have a time limit on the table booking the service is very slow considering we booked our meal for 11:55 got our meal at 12:45 and now awaiting for deserts and our time for the table to move onto the next customer is at 13:45pm, plus the staff don’t even have a smile on there faces to be happy in your job!!!

Book a table for 5 people and asked if we could sit on the big round table so it would be easier for my dad due to is health.only to be told that the table was booked for 7 people the table only sat 6 people and then given to a family of 4 .not happy with 1 member of staff. won't be going back again.we have used the dinning pub for years.So sad.

Terrible 😔 worse customer experience. Couldn't order coffee because I couldn't scan QR code outside on table. Wanted coffee whilst deciding on menu choices. Couldn't get into outside area initially as closed off and weather was lovely on the day we visited at four thirty in the evening. Manager was extremely unhelpful and patronising and not in the least bit helpful simply stated he couldn't serve me unless I scanned the code. Therefore myself and two friends left the place. Restaurant was almost empty not the attitude to have towards customers terrible customer relations disgusting not in the least bit helpful.woukd not recommend this place. We were not offered a table insteadthat is complete rubbish and customer service was terrible that day . We were treated like idiots so I do not accept your explanation it's rubbish and why block entrance to the garden if you have children or are elderly it's ridiculous situation. You obviously aren't prepared to take constructive criticism of any kind maybe you need to look at why your restaurant and garden area was empty at this time.stsrt listening to your customers and stop listening to your ego it won't get you anywhere we won't be visiting again or recommending you .we were not offered a table inside you were obsessed with the qr code. So use it yourself then. Second visit service terrible was rudely informed no booking in my name .I booked on line so has to show proof of booking . Rather embarrassing in a queue of people. Eventually shown to table with no cutlery ,serviettesand wiped table myself with sanitiser wipes. Ordered food and drinks lovely waiter polite and friendly. Food took longer than usual but it was quite busy. Food arrived had to ask again for cutlery but no serviettes . . No one attended table to ask if we required more drinks , food satisfaction or if we would like a dessert. Poor level of service .

Booked a table using the app Easy to use even for someone not tech savvy like me. Staff were really friendly and helpful as my granddaughter has allergies. Food was great and the bill was reasonably, will definitely be coming back soon

Our reservation was for 7.30pm. We had to wait 20mins for our drinks, our starters arrived after about 25mins. Our main course was not served until after 8.30. We ordered nachos to share for starters which were very tasty. I ordered the vegetable chilli for main which was lovely. My partner ordered fish and chips, he'd had that last time we visited and it had been lovely. However, this time, the fish had clearly been kept warm for a long time and was very dry and there were exactly 6 chips on the plate, salt and pepper were not on the table. It was very busy on the night we attended but even making allowances for that, the quality was not what we expected.

Normally the food it hot and tasty , but today when it finally came it was cold , we were never given the condiment that should have come with our roasts so we had to ask ..we were never asked by any member of staff how was our meal otherwise we probably all would of said cold . It was an early booking at 12:15 so didn’t think there would be any mad rush , but don’t think they had enough staff at that time our food was probably waiting to be brought out .. we were all disappointed as it’s usually hot … puts me off going again as it’s a waste of money

What an awful experience, we were booked in for 14.00, we were on time and ordered almost straight away, we ordered 2 x starters that we asked to be served with the mains, 45 mins after ordering a bowl of soup and some butter chicken arrived, no mains, at 15.15, still no mains, there were customers coming in after us that had been served and finished their meals, I enquired twice if there was a problem, I was assured there was not, after another wait there still was no meals, we asked for our money to be refunded and left, we did have an apology from a gentleman that could not even look us in the face as he said it, would certainly not recommend or return to the willow tree, if there was a problem I would rather the staff have been honest and offered a round of drinks or some money off the bill, when our payment was refunded they took for every drink we had, not even a token gesture

The Willow is always warm and welcoming, good food, and really friendly staff. It's probably the best pub/restaurant in the area 👍

Waited an hour only to be told order had not been placed. Waited on staff finishing conversation before being seated. Rubbish service know it’s cheap and cheerful but you still expect basic customer service something the willow tree doesn’t have.

Great service, only downside was food was only ok. Lasagna was very sloppy and not much depth of flavour. No Parmesan.

Food is generally good, staff generally polite, however on line booking system is usually wrong, twice now have been refused a table when their website says there are tables available.

Greeting was prompt no waiting straight to our table we had pre booked. Service for drinks was fast with very polite smiley service. Food didn’t take long to come we had the children’s mains with the starters which I requested and that wasn’t a problem(makes my life easier) . After starters were finished there wasn’t a long wait for main course. Food was well presented tasty and hot, no complaints from our table of 8 a lovely experience of dining. Food was great and very good value. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. We went for a meal two nights on the trot and there is plenty of variety on the menu for us to have something different each time.

Prebooked for a Sunday roast dinner for me and my husband at The Willow tree, Brynmawr, took quite a while to be shown to our table as the girl was seeing to other things in between seeing to customers at the reception, when eventually we were shown to our tables we were shown to a very small table pushed in a corner at the children's side of the pub, I asked if there might be another table available but she said no. We waited quite a long time for someone to come and take our order but in the end we had to queue up ourselves at the bar to order out drink and meal only to be told there was no choice of meats left for our dinner only chicken, which when arrived turned out to be 2 very small chicken fillets; when our meal came with one side order we had to put the box of condiments that was on the table on the floor as there was no room, considering we had prebooked this Sunday roost dinner all in all it wasnt the best of experiences, surely people who has booked their table before hand should have priority to the meats for their Sunday roast and a reasonable place to sit. This visit has put me off going there again or recommending it to anyone, which is a big pity as me and my husband goes out for a Sunday lunch quite regular. As they say there are always plenty of other places we can choose from. 😞

Whilst attending the willow tree we were catered for extremely well. We witnessed the manager be very hands on regarding service. Highly recommend the pub.

I went there with my family valentines Day, and my 3 year old Niece dropped something under the table, I bent down to pick it up and found dog poo under the table, reported it the the manager, she didn't seem that concerned at first, until we decided to leave, they gave us a different table and a free drink, but no way could we eat there at that point, so we left, never tried the food ,
