We visited her for a family 50th Birthday celebration. We were asked to pre-order our food which we did. However, when my sister-in-law phoned up the day before they didn't have all the order. I would have expected that, having pre-ordered the time between courses would not be long. However we waited 20 minutes between the starter and main courses. I had the prawns for starter. The prawns were beautifully cooked but the toast was burnt on one side. When the mains came out one of the pizzas was wrong so our nephew had to wait for the correct pizza to be cooked. Our daughter, who is Vegan, found bacon in her tomato pasta. The toilets were clean. Parking is close by but you do have to pay.

Went with friends and ordered an antipasto starter from the al la carte menu - which was very nice - and two courses from the set, very reasonably priced, lunch menu. The carbonara had a strange flavour and was not to my liking and the lemon tart had too much pastry for me and was lacking in lemony flavour. The venue is typical of the Royal William Yard - very rustic and drafty. The waitresses were very pleasant and helpful and the cocktails were delicious. I cannot say what their reactions would have been had I complained, but disliking the food as opposed to there being something wrong with it is a very difficult one to complain about. I must say though that the friends who accompanied me were all happy with their meals - I tasted a lasagna and it was fine.

The building is fantastic. Well, all of the buildings are in Royal William Yard. This particular spot has a lovely outdoor dining area plus the indoor areas huge. The toilets are clean and feel pretty luxurious. The seats inside are really uncomfortable though ( the ones we sat in were metal with an inadequate seat pad) The five of us were visiting for early dinner. We all ordered different dishes plus a couple of extras. The antipasti was really good, but they were spectacularly stingy with the accompanying bread though. We also ordered a portion of focaccia and out came the smallest serving ( think it was £5/6) ridiculous. ) Onto main courses Our advice is stick with the pizza the bases were thin, crispy and prefect toppings. My seafood linguine was unfortunately bland and dry . I added cheese, olive oil, salt and pepper and it was still tasteless with hardly any sauce on the pasta . I'd say there was enough sauce for half of my serving. The seafood was ok a few more mussles would have been nice. Husband ordered tuna with gnocci. This too was bland. We don't eat a diet high in salt but he needed to add plenty with pepper and cheese too to have some flavour. The Tuna was nicely cooked but the gnocci was a bit sloppy. The veloute was too runny as well as pretty tasteless My daughters lasagne was the nicest of the dishes that wasn't pizza. The flavour was rich and she ate all of it. Don't think we would go back. We wanted to see if it was as good as our favourite (so far) pasta restaurant. But it wasnt. If we did find outselves back there, it would be when they've a special offer running. We wouldn't say the food was worth how much we paid.

Greeted by an employee who made us feel most unwelcome so didnt stay, maybe she had a bad day, face like thunder, nobody was there to greet upon entry so we tok a seat and we were told in no uncertain terms that we had to move. A simple explanation that we needed to move in a polite manner is what would have been the norm. As a result we left and went to another restaurant. The female employee then went out for a cigarette break so maybe that was the issue.

I ordered a takeaway from this wildwood, and when I got home and opened the box I found a bug in the food. I called the restaurant back and the manager was quick to apologise and offer a remade meal. I requested a refund for that specific dish to which he agreed and still offered me to remake the meal as well as give the refund. I was impressed with the way the manager dealt with this. I understand sometimes things like this happen despite the effort that goes into attempting to prevent it. I went and got the remade meal, got back to my house only to find the meal was cold and the inside of the fishcakes were not fully cooked. I was incredibly disappointed by the lack of care taken especially after an already poor experience. The restaurant had closed by the time I got home and noticed this so could not call them back to let them know. I ended up putting the fishcakes into the oven so I could still at least eat the meal, but I am certainly disappointed by the whole experience. All the other food ordered was lovely, shame about the experience with this dish.

Never been to this “restaurant “ before. Fancied a pizza as they appeared to have a wood fired oven. When they arrived they were inedible. The base were like rubber and the toppings really poor, particularly on mine a pepperoni. Complained. The manager, Rishi, was great. Offered us an alternative but we just want to leave. So disappointed. We just paid for our drinks. If you’ve ever had the misfortune of eating an Iceland pizza, then that’s what you’ll get. A couple next to us also had a similar experience. On a recce all around Plymouth, looking for a venue to celebrate my Mum’s 100th birthday, I was first drawn by the fantastic space & interior, and then the warm welcome that I received. Rushi the manager, spent time working out different options for a party of twelve, and was happy to be flexible on the night, if needed. It felt good, and I was right to follow my instinct. Ranging from 8-100yrs, including well-travelled family from abroad, we had a really wonderful evening. The staff were without exception charming, but most especially Rushi the manager, and our waitress Cansu, who was super attentive, smiley & capable. They both genuinely seemed to delight in our enjoyment. Food was reasonably priced and delicious (my fillet steak especially!) and we were able to bring our own cake, to accompany the desserts, which was generous & fun, and made it a real occasion. I was so glad that I made that choice. Nowhere else that we visited that week delivered the same sort of welcome and service. They’re all, kitchen included, a great team, and a special bunch. Thank you!

The building is stunning, atmosphere was great, and the food was amazing! My partner had the focaccia for starter and said it was warm and soft and lovely! I had the mushrooms and mozzarella starter and it was delicious. For mains he went for the peri peri chicken pasta and said it was also delicious, and my chicken Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had! Washed down with a nice glass of wine, as far as lunch dates go, it couldn’t be much better! The staff were attentive and friendly, there is a service charge but they make it clear it’s on there, so if you wanted to, you can take it off. I love The Royal William Yard and do enjoy trying the different restaurants there. The menu looked good and I was really looking forward to going - most of the reviews are good. It was just okay. The waitresses tried really hard to make sure that we were happy and it sounds like a silly complaint but they were overly attentive - they came to check that we were happy so many times that it started to feel like they were interrupting. The service was good, we didn't have a long wait and the dessert was amazing - there was a really good variety. The main was slightly smaller than expected but the prices are good. If I lived closer I would probably nip in for a simple lunch but wouldn't go out my way to go for a dinner again - nothing particularly wrong, just nothing special.

We were booked in as a table of 14 for a celebratory birthday meal, first time visiting and what a disappointing experience. Firstly the table was only set up for 12 people even with a pre order submitted a week beforehand resulting in us having to wait while they hurriedly set up an extra place as due to illness one of the guests didn't go. The staff were told of this but still prepared the cancelled main course. This along with the overall standard of the rest of the meals, items ordered but missing, poorly executed dishes, overcooked, tasteless calamari, greasy pasta again poorly seasoned and bland ( my chicken and mushroom pasta had just 3 small pieces of chicken in it) Portions in general were also very small. Desserts weren't much better, worst tiramisu ever but apparently the brownie was nice, maybe I should of chose that. Cocktails were sour and unappetising, french martini was a really strange brown colour. I certainly didn't feel it was value for money and to then have issues with the final bill as payments made but missed and not made aware of service charge. Thankfully this was rectified. Would we visit again? Maybe if improvements made and we're visiting rwy but wouldn't make a special journey.

Wrong of me to assume that just because Wildwood is situated in Royal William Yard, that it would be incredible food and service. Drinks - Don't bother ordering a French Martini, they use juice that makes the drink brown and acidic. Food - Bolognese, more spaghetti than bolognese. Carbonara, better homemade or even a ready meal from the supermarket would be tastier, huge lack of flavour and presentation for the price. The only meal eaten was a child's sausage and chips so maybe wildwood need to perfect their italian dishes. Service - We all pre-ordered, staff were unorganised, they didn't know what was going in, how many people does it take to serve one table? 4 apparently. I speak from experience. Poor staff management. Atmosphere - I could here the conversation that the table behind us were having, clearer than anything else. There is alot of background noise, combined with the lights and the rash movement of staff, left a child put off their meal and in sensory overload. It's a shame this is our findings from our first and last visit to Wildwood, i had high hopes however there was ONE member of staff with red curly hair who was very friendly and always happy to help so thank you that member of staff. Worst french martini I ever tasted. 😖 But the brownie was tasty 😌

(24th Feb 2024) TLDR: Refused service based on race. Walked in on a Saturday evening, restaurant was mostly empty, maybe 4-5 tables occupied. Upon entering my 3 friends (2 South Asian and 1 Caribbean) and I (white) were told ‘no walk-ins’ despite us having made a reservation online (I was standing behind them). They explained we had a reservation, waitress checked her list and said it’s not here. We showed her the email and she said we couldn’t dine there. As soon as I heard that, I stepped forward and directly asked ‘why not?’ and she immediately began picking up the menus and took us to a table without providing an explanation. This all felt extremely racially motivated as my friends were not greeted upon arrival and we would’ve been denied entry if I hadn’t said anything. We were all visibly frustrated by the situation which the rest of the waiters realised and then proceed to give us what I’d normally describe as exceptional service. Disappointed by the whole experience and the food was average and my seafood linguine lacked flavour. I’m extremely disgusted and frustrated by the situation. I’m 100% sure if I hadn’t asked the ‘why not?’ we would’ve had to leave.

Wildwood Restaurant in Royal William Yard, Plymouth, is a delightful culinary haven that brilliantly marries spaciousness with a cozy ambiance. It’s perfect for both grand gatherings and quiet, romantic dinners. Amazing staff! Their friendliness, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile make every visit memorable. But the true star of the show is the food, especially their steak pizza, which is arguably the best pizza ever! Each bite is a delightful experience, perfectly balancing the richness of the steak with the light, crispy texture of the pizza. Whether you’re in for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Wildwood promises an experience that’s as pleasing to the palate as it is to the soul. In summary, Wildwood Restaurant is a must-visit gem in Plymouth, offering a perfect blend of ambiance, exceptional service, and culinary excellence, with their steak pizza being a standout favorite ♥️

We were invited out with friends for a dinner [we aren’t going to see them for 5 months so it was going to be a special evening] and they asked us to recommend a restaurant and we thought of Wildwood. Been before and the food is good. We went last night and to start the waitress from the start had attitude, no eye contact, brusque, rushed. We ordered wine, garlic bread and olives. The olives never arrived. The girl taking our order didn’t understand us as she was foreign and her English was not good, didn’t understand the menu [she said she was new] but somehow we got there but were filled with doubt about what we were going to get. Our friends starter arrived ‘calamari’. It looked awful but they carried on. Afterwards said it had a strange taste. Our starter of spaghetti bolognaise didn’t arrive. We asked the waitress [new girl] where it was and she said it will come with the main course [of pizza]. We said we asked for it as a starter to share. She walked off. At this point I got up under the pretext of wanting the loo and asked the first brusque waitress what was happening. Again short with me, no smiles just said she had rushed the spag Bol through for us. That came and our friends sat and watched us eat it. The main food came and basically was annihilated from being kept warm. All except a chicken pasta dish that looked fresh. The pizza was over salted, hardly any mozzarella and burnt to a crisp. One person had lasagne and it came just in a bowl on a plate. It was so burnt he could only eat the middle bit and the bowl was small enough already. It looked awful. No decoration, not even a bit of lettuce or parsley. At this stage you will say I am sure, why didn’t you speak to the manager. Well it was a special evening, a goodbye evening, and nobody wanted to mar the night with a bad scenario in our minds. We are older, and just tried to ignore the terrible food. So just to let you know this place needs some serious work done on the food quality, training of staff and attitude of staff. Needless to say we will not be back.

Replacement burger was rock hard around the edges of the chicken , my friends cheese burger was solid , another friends risotto dripping in oil which swamped his plate once he’d finished too . Bill came with no deduction of burger and no knowledge of this big included a 20 odd quid service charge . We are always happy to tip and shouldn’t have to ask to have it removed ! We visited this place on Saturday 26August whilst on holiday. I have two words "Disappointing and RUBBISH" The waitress took us to our table where we sat down and straight away pestered us for drinks and food, we hadn't really had time to take our coats of it's hardly a start to a relaxing night out. It was busy and the staff were rushing around not seemingly knowing what they were doing. We decided to have a main course and a dessert, so we ordered the lasagna. The waiter brought it over and said be careful as it's hot "HOT" it was cold in the middle so we spoke with the waitress and she said she would replace it. When it arrived it was hot this time but what a waste of money we paid over £15 for a main course that there was not even enough to make a sandwich out of a TOTAL RIP OFF and tasteless. At this point we were really upset and just wanted to leave when we had the bill they wanted us to pay a service charge 😡 WHAT FOR DELIVERING A COLD INEDIBLE MEAL TO THE TABLE AND HAVE TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER!! . WE WILL NOT VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. It is a long way off being value for money they just want to give you as little as they can for your money whilst taking the last bit of change out of your pockets.

Attentive staff, nice food, able to deal with dairy and gluten allergies for mains pretty well - I could only have two flavours sorbet for pudding though

Wildwood is one of my favourite chains for a reason. Throughout our time in the restaurant the atmosphere felt so warm and relaxing. We were seen to quickly and the service, particularly Jordan’s, was amazing. We really were made to feel special, at ease and well taken care of. Everything was delicious and portion size was really generous. Definitely will be coming back more often.

This is the first time I have been there with family that had been before We arrived and it was quite quiet the wait was such along time from when we sat down to the order being taken as with all places they like to get your drinks order in first but we must of waited 30 minutes just for drinks the children’s meals came out our carbonara followed after So disappointing the portion was small and was so bland it was spaghetti in a sauce not once did anyone come over to ask if everything was ok The bill came as soon as we asked no delay there we said there was nobody around to complain to about the meal we had waited so long we just ate it the staff member deducted our meals off the bill the first positive. Move of the night Most venues will ask “was every Ythink ok with your meal “ nobody asked us

We had dinner here after a day out nearby and couldn't have been happier. All four meals were excellent - we had two pastas, a pizza and a salad - and the service was quick and friendly. It's also in a really cool building in a lovely harbour front development, so top marks all round really. And it's good value for the amount you get. Would definitely recommend.

Took over 45 minutes to receive starters even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, mains took another 30 minutes after we’d finished. Food was terrible. My main looked and tasted like it had been reheated 10 times. Disgusting. Weren’t offered more drinks until we had been there nearly 2 hours. When complaining about a main we were offered a replacement…in a box to take away! Awful experience and won’t return.

Had a really nice anniversary dinner with my wife this evening at Wildwood. Staff were lovely and friendly. My starter (calamari) was perhaps a little overpriced for the portion size but my main (chicken & mushroom penne bake) was wonderful! Good chilled atmosphere

Awful food, left after starters. Calamari looked like deep fried toe nails and didn’t taste any better. Pizza and lasagne served to neighbouring table were cooked to death/burnt. Paid the bill and went elsewhere. Nice waiting staff though.

Excellent place to eat with a wide menu to select from. The service was brilliant and the food delicious. It is an open plan building, so quite noisy, but thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Parking was fine - about a five minute walk from within the Royal William Yard. Paid using a debit card.

The courtyard at the restaurant was a lovely place to sit in on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Food was tasty and better than expected, service was friendly. Little bit of a wait on the food. We were not a fan of the automatic but optional 10% service charge. Especially when just popping in for a snack & a couple of soft drinks.

Unplanned visit at the weekend for a lunchtime meal with our young children at the Derry's cross restaurant. Food was great and service was excellent!

I visited because it had an OK looking vegetarian selection (slightly more veggie options would be appreciated). The food was very nice, and the staff were friendly, so I would definitely recommend giving it a go. It's more of an open-plan family-friendly atmosphere, with quite high food prices (I paid around £15 for my vegetarian main), so I probably wouldn't come back for another date night myself.

I remember getting food from here as a treat as a child and it being the best takeaway around with pizza always being perfect. Always fresh and hearty. I’ve came back 15 years later to find nothing has changed! Proper nostalgia! £30 down a full belly and a smile on me face. Nice one!

Honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had. Always consistent, amazing prices, the sauce and the dough is all made fresh in house, it’s cooked the way pizza SHOULD be cooked. The owner is an absolute legend and will always have a chat with you. Genuinely and whole heartedly PLEASE GO HERE it’s the best pizza you’ll ever have and this guy needs more support.
