Burgers, pasta and pizzas are very good. We tried the fishcakes which tasted nice but they were very small and not good value for the price. Also the risotto wasn't a creamy risotto it was just rice, not made properly. The service was friendly and reasonably quick.

A great place to meet up and have a chat over coffee, food and drinks. Had the pizza which was very good, but could have spent a bit more time in the oven to crisp up and darken the crust.

I waited over an hour to receive food, even though the restaurant was half empty. The pizza was cold and not cut, so I had to do it myself with a butter knife. The pasta had no cheese or toppings, and none were offered.

Although we booked a table for 6.30pm, we didn’t need to. The restaurant is a very large area and there were only a handful of diners all the while we were there. We chose a table towards the back, to try and get away from the loud music. Unfortunately there are speakers on every wall and when we asked if the volume could be lowered (so we could hear our conversation), the manager said the volume was not adjustable. The loud music did serve a sort of purpose as it was in competition with two babies, who were obviously tired and/or bored, so they screamed and cried until their mums gave them some attention. We ordered a calamari starter to share @ £8.95. There were about 4 – 5 tiny pieces of calamari with a few crispy bits of fried batter. My main course was chicken & mushroom penne @ £15.75. This was served in an oven proof dish which had obviously been prepared and then frozen. It had been zapped in the microwave and it came out dry, with very little chicken or mushrooms. Some of the penne had stuck to the bottom of the dish (freezing & then re-heating will do that!). My husband had the Piccata Milanese @ £15.45. This was a slight improvement on the calamari & my penne. We had a bottle of Merlot @ £25.65. Given the loud music, crying babies and disappointing food we didn’t order a dessert or coffee. We got our bill for £72 (a 10% tip had been automatically added) and left. We would not be returning or recommending.

We visited here for dessert as we had previously visited elsewhere for a main meal and didn't have a very good service. The friendliness and service here was night and day compared to the other place! When we went into Wildwood we explained we only wanted a dessert and staff said that was absolutely fine and were very accomodating. Service was super quick and the desserts were really tasty. I am not sure the desserts are homemade, but for ones that I suspect are perhaps bought in or frozen, they were really good! The man who served us was professional and polite. The only downside and slight criticism which is why I have given the overall rating as 4 stars rather than 5 is that the desserts are quite pricey (£7.50 and £7.75) and I think for that price the cheesecake could have at least come with some cream or ice-cream. On top of this there is also a 10% optional service charge. I do not normally pay service charges as I do not believe it is right to add that on automatically and I think tipping should be personal choice. However, we overlooked it on this occasion and paid it as we could not fault the staff or the food. Even a guy working on the bar who I passed when going to the toilet just before leaving who we'd had no interaction with previously wished us a very good evening! Really welcoming atmosphere which makes such a difference.

Ordered a buffalo and prosciutto pizza. Arrived as a pretty ordinary Margarita with cold cheese and cold ham slapped on top. Not a great advert for British hospitality and not what I was expecting. (Perhaps rather stupidly I was expecting the pizza to be cooked with buffalo and prosciutto).

Visited here on a trip out. Good points - Service was good, friendly people, menu looked good, plenty of options. Even for vegetarians. Nice drinks too. There were 3 of us and we all ordered different food. My friend’s food was good, tasty and good portions. Now I ordered the Philly steak sandwich with fries. The sandwich was small, hardly any cheese, small amounts of steak, although it wasn’t chewy it wasn’t cooked enough for me and wasn’t asked how I liked it. It came in two small pieces of thin cut bread, didn’t taste like sourdough bread, it was burn on the inside and barely cooked on the other. It wasn’t exactly tasty tbh either. Bear in mind this is a lot more expensive than most of the other items on the menu. ( compared to the chicken burger that looked huge!) I just think when you’re paying this for a steak sandwich maybe look at uncut fresh larger sourdough bread, bigger portions and ask how people want their steak cooked.

Very very disappointed. The meal I ordered was supposed to be a tuna steak salad but it was missing 5 of the items and it basically looked like tuns in a bowl of slop, I should have spoke to the chef but I was so unhappy that we just wanted out, I phoned the restaurant when I got home and I was told to send an email to the manager with a photo of my receipt. I did this but still haven't heard anything, it was our anniversary meal which was completely ruined, the fact that they couldn't even be bothered to reply to my email is outrageous, we definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I’ve been coming here a lot over the years, but tonight has to be my worst experience of dining out for a very long time. The staff seem demotivated , unenthusiastic and joyless to be around. When I was presented the bill I told them to omit the service charge as I felt the service had been poor. Strangely, they immediately complied and didn’t ask me why Ifelt dissatisfied! My srv8ce from the lovely waitresses was excellent well done. However I dud have an issue with my meal being served cold ....but with their professionalism they served me another dish . My meal was a chicken dish ...served with sautéed potatoes and rocket lettuce.I personally think the rocket lettuce is just a plate filler ....a cheap one at that and doesn't add value to the dish.Rocket lettuce is well known in the restaurant world as a cheap plate filler. Generally the restaurant is nice but I hope some I prove ends ae made. Good luck and thanks to the staff...which is why I retained the service charge.

Wildwood used to be a pretty safe bet inasmuch that the broad menu meant that there was something for the whole family in accommodating for their diverse tastes. While the menu hasn’t changed, the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. The pizzas / calzones are served with the parlour of a near dead albino. I’ve never seen pizzas in need of a tan quite as much as those served at Wildwood Ely. As for the calzone, they’re easily mistaken for folded pancakes, what the complete absence of any discernible filling. Flat is an understatement. Do yourself a favour and carry on down the high street to Pizza Express if you’re looking for something of an Italian persuasion. As it stands, Wildwood is fine for kids parties. For anyone over the age of nine you might want to look elsewhere.

We have eaten here a few times now and each time we come away a bit disappointed. The menu seems good but I think is too broad for any chef to be truly successful and I suspect a large proportion of the options are frozen or pre-made then reheated. Visited this week with one of the kids and ordered lasagne - what came was one of the worst lasagnes I've ever had: very small, no side salad, just a small oven dish chucked on a plate (think: size of the parmigiana bowl at pizza express) and filled with a later of mince, a single (!) layer of pasta, and topped with an oily layer of bechamel and cheese. It was burning hot despite arriving quickly which again makes me think it was reheated hurriedly. I was hungry after the last bite. The kids' menu is quite good though and his food was fine this time - on a previous occasion he had a burger that was so overdone (again, reheated) it was black and so dry he couldnt chew it down so gave up. The restaurant itself is a nice space with lots of light and very attractive. The staff are pleasant despite being a little too few in number and several were far more keen on chatting amongst themselves than serving so it was hard to flag the one active server down. The kids play area is sweet and one of the few places that has this so it remains a good option for beleaguered parents even if the food is second rate. Overall it could be so much better but it's very likely just too big and has too broad a menu to be a foodie success of any kind.

We dropped into Wildwoods for lunch on Friday 8th December. The restaurant was not very busy and was pleasantly decked out for Christmas - we sat close to the pizza oven so were nice and warm throughout our meal. Service was prompt and pleasant - the staff were very polite and attentive and our starters, mains and desserts all came on time. The food was very tasty and well cooked and we had no complaints, but halfway through our dishes there was a commotion in the entrance lobby when a mentally ill woman burst in and proceeded to tear down the Christmas tree and lights (apparently she had been going from shop to shop in the High Street a few minutes before). The staff dealt with the incident very calmy and professionally and the woman was removed by the Police a short while later. When we went to settle the bill the manager stated that our meal - plus those of everyone else who had been in the restaurant at the time - would be complimentary because of the earlier disturbance. I thought this was a very kind and generous offer and wonderful customer service which is almost unheard of nowadays. We would definitely go back to Wildwoods and in fact will be having another family gathering there in January.

Stopped by on an early Saturday night for dinner. I was surprised by the lovely decor inside this restaurant, it feels nice to eat inside here. Ordered some pasta and we had puddings, all of which were good. The mushroom ravioli didn't taste of too much though and the portion seemed small compared to what the others for for their pasta meals. Puddings were tasty, the vanilla ice cream outstanding. It did work out very expensive though. Considering we didn't have starters and only had one drink each, for three of us it cost just under £100. We had to check to see if it was right as we were a bit shocked. They do add 10% tip on which a lot of places are doing now which took it up and I'm not sure how I feel about places doing this. I'm all for tipping but it feels forced and then embarrassing if you want to remove or change it. Main other complaint is that the tables are stupidly close together and so we were on top of the people behind us

Restaurant was half empty and we were greeted by a gentleman who looked quite scruffy with shirt not tucked in. At first we thought that he was a customer leaving the premises. He ushered us to a table squeezed between a pillar and several other populated tables, despite many other tables being available. I asked to move to one of those and he obliged. Great decor but upholstered chairs were filthy. Starters included arancini which were bland and doughy, sitting in a nondescript tomato sauce, and calamari rings that were shrunken, curled over and hard through over-frying. The Philly steak pizza was good though it was served on a ceramic platter which was severely worn from previous use. I was concerned that the food might be being contaminated. Lasagne was poor. It looked like a poorly presented ready meal and tasted like one. The pasta dish we ordered was left half eaten. The pizza chef was constantly on his mobile phone and it took forever to get the attention of a waitress for the bill as they were busy talking to themselves and not paying any attention to their clients. Service charge was automatically added to the bil which for a table of 4 was the icing on the cake. Unlikely to visit anytime soon.

First time, I liked it. The food was expensive for the amount. But be warned they stick a huge service charge on that they don't tell you about

We had pre booked a table for 8 and arrived right on time. However we waited 1 hour for our starters arrive, and only then got them because we complained to a disinterested manager. No apologies, nothing. Having finished our generally OK starters, we then waited another 30 minutes for the main course to arrive and then another 30 minutes for the dessert. By the time we paid our bill [over £270] we had been in the restaurant for over 3 hours! It would have been even longer if I had sent back the horribly over cooked baked cod that I was served - I have never had tough fish before - but we figured we would have been there for an eternity if we had to wait for a replacement. So much for Wildwood telling us when we booked that we only had the table reservation for 2 hours! This was our first and definitely last time we visit a Wildwoods. They obviously have serious management & kitchen problems.

Came to Ely for the day for business purposes from London. Booked table for 16:15 to which we arrived on time but was shown our table at 16:30 and that was because i I asked. We then waited a further 10 minutes with many members of staff passing us by before we got served. This was when Rocky approached us to see if we had been seen to, he then took our drinks and food order and apologised for the wait. We seemed to be invisible to ALL staff apart from him (Rocky). Wrong food was given to me and the quality was sub standard, seems they only paid attention when I requested the bill Do I call racism on this?

The food was great, the place is spacious and was pleasant to be in. We visited the restaurant in the afternoon and were served very quickly. The only wish is that the sofas were cleaner.

Ordered a oven baked chicken and mushroom penne dish. It arrived far too quickly to have been freshly cooked. The pasta was tasteless, the sauce under-seasoned and the portion amazingly small. Bland beyond belief.

Popped in for a lunch Friday 15th , food was terrible , spaghetti was cold and the sauce watery, no taste just awful. Don't like the fact that add service charge to the bill, service was OK but not worth rewarding with the charge. Won't be returning , first time is the last time very expensive for what we ate.

We have dinned here on numerous occasions, yesterday my daughter wanted to go for her birthday. I can honestly say this place has gone downhill, waitress didn't have an idea of what drinks they sold or food option's, we were rushed through drinks to dinner option's, they had no clean cutlery even though there was only 5 tables with other dinners. Food was well below par based on our other visits to this restaurant, I can honestly say we will not be returning back ever again, bill came to £198 with the 10% service charge they put on even when the service was terrible and lastly no I don't want stone cold custard with my hot sticky toffee pudding and no I don't want to eat it with a fork because you don't have any spoons. There are plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from in Ely but this is not worth spending your money on.

The staff at Wildwood are pleasant but the cooking and presentation of the food incredibly, incredibly poor. Really greasy, dumped on top of each other, basic pizza and when asking to have an egg removed after it was accidentally included, it was scraped off the plate with fragments of eggs left throughout the rest of the dish. A real shame as the restaurant itself has real potential.

Wildwood is a brilliant restaurant and is conveniently located in the centre of Ely with views of the cathedral and a short walk from the river Great Ouse and the train station as well as bus stops from local towns and villages. Staff are friendly and the food is authentically Italian and is to a standard worthy of dining out for. The only aspect preventing five stars for everything was the portion size. Whilst not small if you have a big appetite - as I do - it is worth investing in a starter as well as a main. The prices are competitive and there is a selection of food and drink options to cater for those that don't drink, like to explore various wines as well as various vegetarian and vegan options. The atmosphere is positive and bordering on intimate without it feeling like guests are unable to speak freely and to one another. I have no reservations about going back to visit Wildwood again and taking family and friends to this venue.

What a shame. I have eaten at Wildwood a good few times and have always been happy, but this time it really was poor. £20 for a steak is not the most expensive, but you do expect it to be good: it was tough and full of gristle. I have no idea why a place would get in such poor steak! A friend’s risotto was dry and salty, the pizzas had burnt crusts. One of my friend’s meal didn’t arrive and it had been forgotten, meaning he sat and watched while we ate and we had finished when he ate. Service OK but slow. Really slow. It took ages for the drinks to arrive. The tiger prawns starter was four small prawns in a puddle of pink butter. I would expect more for what the starter costs. Sad to say this, but I won’t be back. Neither will a few of my friends.

Service was good from the sole waitress ,however food was poor I ordered a cesar salad for 13.95 it was supposed to come with poached egg and cos lettuce ,came with spinach and rocket no poached egg ,I don't like to complain but when you're not told about its going to be different to what is on the menu because we have run out and they have made it up as they go along ,my first big question ,in this day of allergy, intolerance etc suppose I was allergic to rocket or spinach ??? I wanted to go the day before but I was told that they were going to be bust later on ,o they could not accomodate us ,I saw lots of free tables ,we just wanted to eat and go a complete lost opportunity ,I went to a restaurant opposite, when I came out i the same empty tables at prezzo were still empty and had not been filled,I also get annoyed at only card payments are excepted ,so what happens to the people that don't have cards, feels like discrimination on those that are unable to have cards we are over covid now I thought ! Will not return to a prezzo Sorry !!

We came here for the first time for my birthday, and had three courses. We loved all six dishes - bruschetta and napoletano for starters, lasagna and bucatini puttanesca for mains, and cannoli for afters. There were so many herbs. We also shared a bottle of nero davola. The venue is quite small and, although we had booked, we had to wait a while for the food to arrive. But that was fine. But I would definitely recommend booking.
