I have never had to wait so long for food or a bill in my life, my god. Food was nice enough

Good and bad: Location: outstanding, Quality of food:excellent, Cleanliness: Spotless, Serving staff: Now here's where it goes downhill. I've never felt so awkward while being served by such a a fawning, affected server. Every part of the conversation was 'amazing', 'fabulous', 'incredible', 'fantastic'.. .. Jesus, I'm only ordering a pizza! Oh Peter, what has happened to your company since the days we used to visit Dean Street. You must be rotating in your grave.

I had a wonderful evening with friends. The service was fast even though it was busy and Susan was very accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious and I would definitely recommend.

Food was ok, very hot, temp wise. I had the Cannelloni, cheese gave it it's only flavor. No seasoning. Wife's lasagna was good. Kids got the Calzones, both type. They enjoyed it.

The food was up to the standard Pizza Express standard. The atmosphere was miserable. Pizza Express Ely has started hosting children’s parties on Saturday lunchtime. The noise was extreme. There was no control over their behaviour from anyone. They were able to run around the restaurant uncontrolled. The people at the table next us left. We only stayed because we had made a promise to our 11 year old daughter. Note - we have an 11 year old daughter so we are used to children. If your idea of a good lunch in Ely is Pizza Hut at the Pleasure Beach Blackpool on a Saturday in high season, then this one is for you. If not, then I suggest you visit Wildwood Pizza on the same street.

Oh dear Pizza Express Ely... We are a regular diner at the Ely restaurant and usually the server is excellent. Today was abysmal, the time for the food to arrive was far too long, starters were missed, our order was apparently delivered to a different table. Eventually we received the missing starters. The table was then slow to be cleared. We couldn't get anyones attention to get drinks, we went to the till to request an apple juice which was poured but then took 10 minutes, and it was still undelivered, eventually we went to collect it ourselves. We then complained to the manager, who was then very unhelpful. When we received the main, over an hour had passed from the starter being cleared. My son's order was incorrect. We didn't complain as the manager was unhelpful first time. We finished and had to request service for dessert from the waitress and also asked to speak to the manager. The manager then did apologise, and offered a discount, but the slow service comtinued to the end, and we left unhappy 2 and a half hours later.

The waiting staff were really nice and quick. The pizza though was not good. Dough was almost sticky and not well prepared and the pizza arrangement was like a kid slapped the ham and cheese on top carelessly. Not a good pizza place.

Attended a kids pizza making party with my child who struggles with noise and has restricted diet. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and lovely with him. The party was so fun I recommend those

Only issue we had was how noisy it was. I'd blame the mix of tiled floor, big window and open plan lay out. But food and service was excellent. Didn't book, just turned up. Fab

the service was very slow i was not impressed as iv came here multiple times and has never been this bad. i was waiting over 40 mins for starter then an hour and 30 mins for my main.

Everyone was polite there. The issue is we were seated and no one ever took our order. Not even for drinks. After about 20 minutes an employee apologized and assured us someone would be by to take our order soon, but 10 more minutes went by. It wasn't busy. Some employees were wiping off tables. Two others were engaged in a conversation that looked like one employee was training another. After about 30 minutes of doodling on the kid's menus and waiting we decided to leave. We love Ely and love to sight see there, but that was our first and last Pizza Express experience in Ely.

Great food and fast service and a big thank you to Susan who resat us in a better place and worked extra hard even though she was busy to serve us.

Took my family for a birthday meal, and have to say that the food, drinks, atmosphere etc was all excellent. There were 11 of us, so a reasonable size party. However, the only disappointment was a £47.55 service charge added to the bill without any prior warning. Don’t get me wrong, I always give a tip, and was going to give £25 , which I felt was about right and well deserved. But to be hit with £47 without any prior notice (yes, I guess it’s buyer be ware) was I feel a little out of order, as the first you are aware of it is when you get the itemised bill at the end. Would it stop me going again? yes it would, which is a real shame. I often wonder when amounts are added directly to the bill, whether the monies actually makes it’s way to the staff. I much prefer to put monies directly into a tips jar, perhaps my old fashioned way of thinking!

We all had a wonderful meal here tonight. We booked 2 x separate tables, 1 for my Daughter celebrating her 14th Birthday with 3 of her friends and another for me (Mum) Dad and eldest Daughter. The service was fabulous. We asked where we would like our tables to be. They treated my Daughter's table entirely separately even though the waiting staff knew we were all together. This made it a special evening for my daughter and friends, even more so when her pudding arrived with a candle, and Happy Birthday written in the icing sugar. The whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday too. Lovely fresh food which arrived quickly by attentive and happy waiting staff. Thank you for a great evening.

Always good pizza and mostly very busy. Feels like they pack the tables in to get as many as possible so chairs are back to back with little room. Best place for Pizza in Ely

We had a lovely dinner here this evening, with an excellent server, James! He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making our meal so enjoyable. Five stars for James!!

We came for a takeaway and were informed that it would be a 20-25 minute wait. We waited for 40 minutes. Unimpressed.

Had a nice meal, it is what it is. Staff friendly, working hard - but slightly stressed atmosphere to the place, probably because its very tightly packed. A little more space 1 or 2 less tables perhaps and the experience might be even better.

What a lovely evening. We had booked a table, but arrived early; the staff didn't tell us to come back later, but welcomed us immediately & found us a table, where I could put my foot up (recovering from surgery). We received fantastic service all evening, from James; thank you. Our food was delicious; beetroot buddha bowl & gardiniera pizza.

Exorbitant pricing. Six times the price of the same pizza from Aldi 😉 (Aldi don't ignore you for ten minutes and leave you standing in the doorway-despite having booked a table).

Solid experience at Pizza Express Ely. 2 really good pizzas and glasses of wine for our impromptu Friday night dinner. Pizzas were well cooked, great selection of drinks available. Good variety of vegetarian, vegan & gluten free options. Lovely atmosphere & good service.

Our first visit since the Ely restaurant had its refurb and it was so lovely. The decor and ambience made for a very relaxed meal. The food was fresh, hot, and tasty. The staff were very polite, attentive, and helpful. A real credit to Pizza Express.

Standard pizza express - staff really friendly - place was really quiet.

Came in as a pretty solid fan of pizza and Italian things alike. Gotta say although it’s obviously not Michelin level food for the price they sell at it might as well be! I have been in a few times now and my personal favourites include the bruschetta, hot honey dough balls, florentina pizza and pretty much anything they make including Nduja Sausage because hot dang is that ever tasty. Also shoutout to Kira for especially great service, felt like someone I’d known for many years was cooking me a meal and it made me feel at home despite obviously not being there at all. Solid price, good food, and excellent service, what’s not to love?

Always a bit pricey but food is good. Kira was our waitress and she was just great, we'll be back!

Ordered take away. Got there and had to wait 15 minutes which was no problem. The food was stone cold even the middle of the lasagne. Used to be nice has got worse and worse. Won’t bother going here again considering how they change. Spent £85 tonight, what a rip off.

Overpriced Bland mushroom and truffle pizza lacking seasoning as basic as salt and pepper. The chilli oil is as just low quality refined oil given the price. Didn’t like it!

I recently visited the store in Ely honestly I got served by Chinese lady was beenig quite rude to me I went to pick order up from this store and this Chinese lady she try to show me my job she was serving a different table and the boy was giving me my order he was good on his job so this Chinese lady been also rude to that boy and getting involved in the situation knowing the boy was doing perfectly his job I don’t know this can be acceptable behave u

I had THE BEST pepperoni pizza here yesterday. Cooked to perfection crispy base, simply delicious! Been to many Pizza Express, all over the world and EVERYTime I go to this one the pizza is 10/10. Kudos to the chefs here. Also the waiters are always so nice!

We have been eating here for the last 20 years but last night was the worst visit we have ever had. Our waiter was lovely, not his fault.Rotten salad,raw pizza,which was replaced and both meals taken off the bill. But what we noticed last night was the diners in the restaurant waiting longer while the chef's dealt with the takeaway service 🙄

Very good atención, all pizzaiolo are very good, waters are very friendly. Site is lovely and outsiad are many places to visit and pas the day. If you like spicy food try the n'duja

I booked at 18:30 for a 19:30 table. Arrived and they were out of dough, so no pizza at Pizza Express. Absolutely awful they didn't tell me over the phone as I had to find somewhere else to eat.

Nice easy place to have lunch for 4 people on Monday. Plenty of choice including some vegan ones. 2 of us had vegan calzone which was fab and no fake cheese to negotiate. (Would like to see more vegan choice that doesn't involve pretend cheese, but good choice of dishes if you do like this.) The margherita with tuna, and the lasagne were enjoyed by the non-vegans. There weren't many other diners (Monday lunch) so atmosphere scores less on this particular day we went in.

Food was better than last time. For the price you might expect more (service! Not food) from the venue. The staff here aren't very professional in their behaviour. It's a little noisy to be a romantic setting.

The acoustics are very bad. Impossible to hear companions or staff. There are pleasanter places to eat, especially for anyone with sensory issues. It may be the reason why staff seem stressed and unhappy.

It's a standard pizza express. Food is always consistent and served pretty quickly. Good to go with the family as there is plenty of space. The staff were very friendly. I do like thier pizzas but like everything else the price seems to have gone up quite a lot.

You hardly get time to get settled - Pizza Express lives up to its name. Quick pre dinner drink and quick service with the pizza. Chose the duo romana, large thin base with two toppings - nice idea. All good, food and service.

Very loud. Consistent. Dough balls not as round and fluffy as they used to be. One of our pizza was over done, noted another table returned two of theirs

Booked a pizza making party for my 4 Yr old. Utterly disappointed by the frosty welcome. Walked in and didn't receive a hello or any instructions for the event. Just rude. Just left to it while the members of staff on duty laughed between themselves. Tried to order coffees/ drinks for parents and waited 10 mins to find a duty manager. Then again. The response was 'yeah okay'. The member of staff who actually was in charge of the party was brilliant and seemed to be running the show alone but feel dissatisfied with the experience.

If there’s 1 place in Ely that provides consistently good quality good, delivers it quickly and always has warm and welcoming staff it’s this place. I’ve tried many other places in Ely and with a young child, one of the important factors is speed and friendliness. This place nails it - every time.

Held my sons 7th birthday party at pizza express ely this afternoon. Was booked through Ben the branch manager .. who I'd like to say is an absolute asset to the company. Friendly and absolutely accommodating , nothing was too much trouble for him which was reassuring from the start. Turned up to a beautifully dressed table and friendly staff and everything was well organised. Callum and jess from the kitchen were great, engaging and patient with the kids while sharing there knowledge of making pizzas. They even accommodated my sons request to cook chocolate and marshmallow pizza. All the kids had fun, were well feed and the whole experience was great. Would highly recommend. Every member of staff were lovely and we will be going back soon for a family meal. Thanks pizza express for making son birthday brilliant xx
