Came for my birthday meal, service was amazing. Ellie was very efficient. Was a good night.

A bit quiet when we went in today for lunch but the food was yummy and the two girls serving were really nice! Kasady and we didn’t get the other girls name were really friendly and sociable! The food was really good also, I had fish and chips, my wife had steak pie and they were both amazing! Would definitely recommend

I have had to delete my 5 star review from a year ago because of the new menu. Widecombe Fair used to stand out with its steak selections which it no longer does, it is now just a bland standard pub menu of low-quality food. It is a real shame. My last visit both my food and my wife's was cold. Staff did offer to replace it, but we were a party of 6 and we weren't going to wait as the rest of the family would have finished their food. I doubt I'll be coming back again until the menu is changed.

I was very disappointed last time I visited this place. I was introduced to "new" menu which is so boring with lonly few options. The old menu had great variety of meals and some of them were my favourites. Please bring back the old menu or you'll be losing lots of customers.

Went to celebrate my birthday in April with family. Joel welcomed us and changed our table to accommodate one of my family members being on crutches immediately without us even having to ask. The service we received from all the staff was excellent, the food was delicious and good value. Thank you

As always the widecombe fair is a number one place for me as I work at linneys as I only live on Bellamy estate I come here regularly with my dog all ways fresh water for him and he loves the doggy ice cream 🍦🍨 also they have dog treats on the bar for dogs ALL staff are very welcoming a great range of larges and cider to ales and a good range of none alcoholic soft drinks to 0% beers and sprits a great range of wine to champagne 🥂 🍾 even 0% and fantastic new menu to choose from the pub areas are always clean and tidy tables are always ready for service good range of snacks

Came here with canadian family, all were happy with the meals. Hunter's chicken and sticky toffee pudding were a hit! Great vallue for money, for five with drinks roughly £100.

Sadly I don’t think I’ll return here due to the change in menu. We have used Widecombe Fair regularly but today we tried the ‘new menu’ which was god awful. Still advertising to be a grill which isn’t the case anymore due to a ‘trial’ period being ran at certain pubs. After speaking to one of the managers, this trial doesn’t seem to be going very well. The ‘new’ food is really bad. I ordered the fish pie, £20 for effectively cheesy mash. Little to no fish, no minted peas and it certainly wasn’t golden brown. To then be told that the fish pie is t a very good seller is disheartening. This is no fault of the staff at the pub but sadly, due to Greene King not investing in new signage to remove the ‘grill’ section, they are misleading their customers. Based on the experience today, unless it returns to a grill, we won’t be returning.

The Sunday duo roast is not great one tiny slice of beef one tiny slice of turkey asked the staff why said it's company policy the Mrs had steak and ale pie which was very nice .

It seemed as if it was too much trouble. Ordered an eatandmess all that came was a small dollop of cream with fruit juice squeezed on. And a literal dust of meringue. Disgusting.

Delicious food with giant sized sandwiches. The vegan beyond Burger was delicious and the staff were very kind and attentive to details. Good value for money ✅

Ate here yesterday after a long time not having visited. New menu is genuinely delicious. The sharer platers are brilliant and not your usual chicken dipper and breaded mushrooms. The home made Scotch egg, and the red pepper hummus were 2 of my favourites. We couldnt decide which plater to order so we ordered both types as mains and then shared between 2 people. There was plenty there as a main and the selection was lovely. The staff were super friendly and we had a good laugh with the manager. Really good food, really lovely staff and the prices are equal to that of most pub chains but with a different choice of food! Also approved, were the margaritas from the mother. Only thing missing from the drink in her opinion was the salted rim, and when she mentioned this in passing to one of the staff they instantly said they would feed that back to all bar staff. Overall super pub.

It was a fantastic lunch. The team were very welcoming and attentive. 5 stars.

Popped in for a last-minute bite to eat and they managed to seat us which we greatly appreciated-especially for a Saturday night. Staff were really friendly and the food was exactly what we expected and a bit more! We'll be visiting again soon but we'll make sure we book!

Not had food at point of writing this review but i feel i couldnt wait any longer to say how discustilgle filthy the whole place is , the seats are full of old spills of food that have clearly been on there for years , no matter what table we went to sit at they was all full of people's rubish and left over food, , I wen to the ladies toilett to find they haven't had what I call a clean in months, there is more bust, hair and god know what on the woodwork that is fixed and behind the doors, now the food has come and to top it off my husband ordered chicken fajitas and the dish of grated cheese came out and it must have been grated the week before it was served it was all dried up the wrapswas like compresed cardboard ,then I had the pie witch was the only hot thing on the plate but I left it anyway because it was discusting. The chipe peas and gravy was cold .The place needs a food looking over by the environmental health as I sure it would have to be close just for the cleanliness aspect alone. I fresd to think what the kitchen is like. Never again will we eat her or recomend it to anyone. Best part money was refunded and on our way out another customer was also complaining about their meal.

Had my 21st birthday meal here on Saturday a party of 24 of us the staff made us feel really welcome 2 of the meals where running late by 5 minutes to which they took them off the bill for us they was very accommodating and polite and made it really enjoyable for us all, thank you to Joel Lilly and Jess x

After having the builders in upending our kitchen we decided that a meal out was the way forward. I must admit we left it late and wouldn't have blamed the restaurant for turning us away but Joe and Reece couldn't do enough for us. We had a superb meal with stellar service to match. It was so much appreciated after a stressful day, we couldn't thank them enough.

I came here for dinner with two friends on Monday evening, and our experience was first class. The food and drink was excellent, and were looked after superbly by Costi and Joel, both of whom were courteous and immaculately professional.

We came as a party of 15 to celebrate a colleague retiring, our server was Joel, another lad in a white top (didn't catch his name) and hannah. We all really enjoyed the night, food was lovely and drinks flowed very nicely. Brilliant value for money and we all said we would return again, thank you so much.

Birthday party on a Saturday afternoon. Arrived in time for the birthday boy. The main meals were for party of 20. Everyone had pre booked, starters, mains arrived together. It was clean inside, staff were friendly. Over all a good enjoyable time, cheers.

Hannah, Alex and Costie served us and I have to say they were brilliant. Most efficient and friendly. We haven’t been here for several years and we will definitely be returning soon. We had the 12oz rump steak and it was yummy!!

Absolutely terrible experience. Sunday night family meal for 5 adults no children. Ordered an alcoholic drink for myself 53 year old woman and shared it with my 22 year old daughter. Drink was confiscated by staff due to my daughter not having any ID. Ordered another alcoholic drink for myself again shared with my daughter only to find we are being watched on camera. Staff charged over to once again to confiscate the drink with a lecture on pub licencing and then thrown out, disgusting.

Aaron who is one of the chefs made our experience very pleasant. He was fun to chat with. The staff dealt very well with my special requests on the menu. Food was well cooked and presented. Altogether a great lunchtime.

Rising prises is making it to much for drinks in there. We pop in for a drink with family now and again, but won't be coming as much unfortunately.

Pros: The food was tasty and I would consider eating here again, but changes need to be made in line with the cons below.... Cons: The portion size for price paid is a massive rip-off. I am happy with eateries putting prices up but Greene King has upped the prices AND reduced the portion size. We had the signature char-grilled burger at £13.49 and Grilled Salmon fillet meal at £16.99. The burger was a single patty with one slice of cheese and two strips of streaky bacon 1cm x 5cm each plus fries. McDonalds across the road serves virtually the same meal with fries for £3.49. The salmon meal consisted of a salmon fillet 3cm wide and some roasted potatoes & veg for £16.99! Both meals served on massive plates which made the small portions look even worse. Now for the drinks: 1 pint of moretti and a large glass of diet coke (not a pint) was £10.00. Again, rip-off price for 2 drinks. Considering the large local population places like this should be very busy on a Saturday night, it wasn't. I wonder why. The above comments were given to staff at the table with no return feedback.

The service here is completely awful. The owner should be ashamed. Every time I come here theres only one or two waiters/waitresses. We saw only one waiter working tonight. Had another time where only two waiters were working and they looked clueless on what to do, while we stood there waiting to be seated. They never did end up coming by so we left and ate somewhere else.

First time visit to this establishment and we were a party of 8 adults with a booking, we arrived early and were greeted with a very warm welcome, we even got seated and served early which was a pleasant bonus. The food, speed of service and atmosphere were all superb but even better still was the 2 staff members who looked after us, Costi & Joel, nothing was too much trouble and we had some good banter with them, both are a great credit to the business and if we were local then I know we'd be here on a regular basis. Thanks guys for a fantastic experience and if we're out this way again, we'll pop in for sure.

First to have the Christmas menu! Great food and portion sizes. Prawn cocktail was superb, mushrooms in creamy sauce and the chicken sticks- all great starters. Turkey dinner- tasty Steak meals - best we’ve had in a long time- even enough steak to take some home for my Staffie. Puds good size too. Thank you Lilly for your superb service- you worked hard and never let us down 🎄

Not been here for a while, the place has been updated and looks very nice. Staff are polite and I love the new menu. The Grilled Salmon was cooked well and what it was served with really made the meal delicious. The garlic mushrooms with sourbread were great and the hallumi fries. Both myself and my Mum enjoyed our food and are looking forwards to going again. Matt was our server and was welcoming and helpful.

Manager was great, understanding and went over and beyond to help with a slight issue we had. Would always come here. Food is lovely, staff are great and the atmosphere is great. Nothing to complain about everything to praise!

Called in for Sunday dinner with family. Been in the pub many times over the years,Not been in since it became a Green King Pub , bar and drinks were good great choice of non alcoholic drinks, however food was average and we were waiting for the meals to long in our opinion - 25 mins+ .

Myself and my husband been here today for a visit, service was quick and the staff was brilliant, we had the Swiss burger & the Italian chicken burger it was amazing, I am a fussy eater and 90% when we dine out I have burger but the Italian burger was by far one of the BEST burgers I have ever tasted was packed with flavour and the only way I can describe it is, tastes like a pizza on a chicken burger. HATS OFF TO THE CHEF

We came to this pub on Saturday morning 31st of August, the gent that welcomed us was very hospitable and made us feel very welcome as soon as we came through the door. Lovely pub and surprisingly very nice vegan breakfast choices, will absolutely return! I think the gent that served us was called John? (I might be completely wrong) but he was lovely 😊

I am appalled at this place would defo not recommend Not only did orders come out wrong but the second time round came out with missing pieces of food. I ordered a sausage kids meal and the sausages looked undercooked however felt cooked through but I made a mistake of not checking the whole sausage just the middle. This has resulted in my 1 year old getting food poisoning !? Staff said due to high demand mistakes was being made however, the pub was very quiet I would hate to see it on their busy days !! I came here Friday 30th October around 5pm incase the pub wants to question the chef as to why he can’t cook sausages properly for a kids meal - I’ve not complained as I do not care in a refund or any complimentary vouchers I just want people to be wary of the kids meals being cooked properly and ensure you’re checking I have major mum guilt on my behalf for not thoroughly checking and I hope the chef can take some responsibility also !!! I will not be returning.

I always have an amazing experience at The Widecombe Fair! The staff always go above and beyond and the food is hot and tasty. This time the team were able to accommodate a large party at very short notice , all the food was fresh & service was amazing!

Food was lovely although need to hire more staff as the staff were over run and looked very stressed out service we had was really good and left a tip for the waitress atmosphere was ok could do with a tv or something near the dinning area or outside to give people something to do but Iver all love going to the Widecombe

Called in for a drink after being on a walk decided to get our dog a Sunday lunch. We paid £6 and it had one small piece of beef on it. Loads of veg and a massive Yorkshire pudding. So disappointed for the dog really not good value at all . I wouldn't recommend

Normally love this pub, however on this occasion service was slow portions were minimal and they didn't have onion rings to go with some of the dishes. Hoping it was an off day for them as the food is normally really hood.

Had a Sunday full English dinner here last week after a client gave me a £50-00 green king gift card for a large refurbishment job done on the avenue!Anyway back to the food. Unfortunately it wasn’t good you needed a samurai sword to cut the pork and then you had to be jaws off James Bond to chew it,the Yorkshire pudding looked and tasted like it had just been sent from Yorkshire gravy was Bisto gravy granules and veg was hard and cold. Obviously I complained but as it was a gift card not much they could do We ended up having cheese cake as there was money on the card still and this was quite nice and tasty with a good portion good job as we were still hungry We then went to pay with the card to be told we had gone over the £50 It ended up costing us another £18-00 So £68-00 for a Sunday dinner for 2 very unhappy as we worked hard on a project to get that card. Won’t be going back in a hurry,it seems like some of these chain pubs just serve it whatever no thought for the customers. On top of that we both woke up in the night with bad stomach ache and it cost us a day off work. This review is a bit long but just wanted to save some one else from this ordeal.

Miscommunication with manager over 2 for 1 burger offer. I was convinced she pointed to the whole menu page so we chose non-burger options. The server didn't really know when we asked her. We were then disappointed with the Hunter chicken - dried in - but didn't complain because we thought we were getting it cheaply.
