Visited last night, food was very expensive and not great quality, staff seemed disinterested in customers, an overwhelming smell of weed outside. Whole place looked tired and in need of a good clean. Really dissapointed as a whole. Had to pay £16 for a plain cheesebuger as they dont offer it as an option so had to have the only burger they had and remove all the toppings but still charged for them. Wont be returning.

Just home from a family Sunday lunch x 7 people and had a fantastic meal and service from the Beefeater team of Joe, Molly and Tia. Every meal and drink and service was excellent including the refills and prompt service 🙏

Badly needs refurbishment average food very expensive for what is hardly any food tried charge drinks which were included won't go back in hurry

The Whitegate Inn offers a great selection of food. I think it’s fair to say that there’s something for everyone in their menu. I ordered a Rib Eye steak and wasn’t disappointed. It was cooked exactly how I like it, it and came with just the right amount of fries. After checking out their dessert menu, I couldn’t leave without trying the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream. It didn’t last long enough to take a photo! I’d give this restaurant 10/10 and will be sure to make a repeat visit when I’m up North again.

Just stood at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to be served, 2 staff members walked past , no friendly greeting or apology when a bartender finally arrived. My husband had to politely shout please can we have service twice before anyone came! Shocking service

I do not like leaving bad reviews but people need to be aware of how bad this place is. I was staying at premier inn next door and walked in for breakfast at the beefeater. Once I walked in with my family we were shown to our table and we sat down. Not once did anyone say that the breakfast is made to order as I thought there was a hot food counter for the breakfast. I wandered around looking for the food counter and although staff saw me walking around looking lost not one person approached me. I then walked up to a member of staff and asked about the food counter, her reply completely shocked me. She almost screamed and said ‘food counter? Don’t you know it’s fresh to order? Haven’t you been told?! ‘ her attitude was so rude and I was in complete shock. As I sat down to order I was given filthy menus, I asked if they had vegetarian sausages her reply shocked me even further she just pointed at the menu and said ‘it’s all there’. At this point I should’ve walked out because clearly this female middle aged staff member had some issue with me and my family. After we received our breakfast which was awful I noticed that this particular member of staff was very jovial with other customers apart from me and my family. She didn’t say good morning or even bothered to ask about any allergies when we ordered. However every other customer she served the first question was did they have any allergies. Clearly she didn’t care about my family or our specific needs. I am Asian and Muslim and I felt it was more to do with the colour of my skin. I have never felt so under threat before when going out to eat. I raised a complaint with the very friendly Nicola at the premier inn who said she will take it up with the beefeater general manager. The next morning when we went to have breakfast we were served by the same rude and obnoxious female staff member. When she saw us again it’s like she didn’t want to make any eye contact, she looked down at the laptop at the counter without acknowledging that we are standing in front of her then she looked up And said good morning and then asked any allergies, I found this very odd because clearly she must have been told that a complaint has been made so she decided to ask straightaway about allergies etc. my family and I felt unwanted due to the rude customer service by this one staff member and decided not to order any cooked food as we did not want any interaction from this person again. I have stayed at various premier inns all over the country for many years and have always opted to have breakfast each morning. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had and I will not step another foot at any beefeater again. I will be emailing beefeater headquarters to raise a formal complaint about this female member of staff. The reason we visited Oldham in the first place was due to a wedding and because of this unpleasant interaction I felt it ruined our whole trip. Let me make this crystal clear if you are Asian / or any other ethnic minority and Muslim please don’t visit this place. I am a British Asian and very proud to be British but for the first time in my life I felt like I don’t belong here. Beefeater please look into this. The particular female member of staff needs more customer service training and also needs to treat everyone the same!

Went for a meal for my wife's birthday. 4 of us booked .we were seated and left for ages until i had to go to the waitress and ask for drinks when we ordered the starters took over half hour to come and from 3 prawn cocktails one was minute on complaining i was told they are all the same and measured. Once finished another half hour wait with dirty pots on our table and adjoining tables. Once the main meal was delivered we still had the started pots on the table also the order was wrong so from the 4 of us only one of us had the main meal the other had to be re cooked as it was wrong and the other 2 were just late. Eventually got the meals and although they were still not correct we ate them. Then we sat with dirty plates again until after half hour i went to the desk and asked for the bill. When the bill cane it was wrong and we had been charged for items we never ordered. Totally disgusted and not even an apology.

Service has been great for breakfast and evening meal. All staff seem welcoming and efficient, especially Joe who seems to be there regularly is always helpful.

A credit to Jo 100% he goes out of his way to make the experience great, Stayed in the hotel and used the restaurant for food and drink. He is a credit to you. Thank you.

The food in this place is very good & reasonably priced. However, the atmosphere is somewhat lacking & the service isn't that great. A considerable amount of work needs to be done to bring any vibrancy or even good atmosphere back to the place. As a Beefeater it needs investment, the Stockport one has an overall better vibe with the same prices.

Was taken for Father’s Day with my son and grandson for breakfast. The breakfast was really good, was excellent the the pub was dated the toilets were disgusting in need of a total revamp. (1) toilet seats need changing. (2) doors and ceiling was dirty. (3) no lock on cubicle door no toilet roll holder. (4) no soap and sanitizer, no soap. Toilets are the only thing that will keep me from going back.

We Have eaten there several times. Never had a problem, food always great, beer OK, prices good.

Was there at at a funeral this week, food was very nice and it was well organised.

The food was really good we we're a party of 7. The waitress tia was very good . Service was excellent. Once again tia met all our needs . We were at the restaurant on the 24th . Definitely be coming back .

Love this place, food is perfect! Sunday lunch is far nicer than the carvery where you can have a massive plate for 2 pounds that feeds two. The only disappointment was last week we went a little later than usual and the meat was dry. This was a one off hopefully.

I came in quite late on sunday, Had a great experience, food was great and service from our server chloe was amazing even tho we were one of the last tables to leave she was more than happy to go above and beyond.

Went for breakfast as a group and they couldn't accommodate, despite there being tons of seats empty. This isn't the first time we've been turned away and the food is often average and overpriced anyway. Service can also take quite a while and we've had occasions where items have been missing from our order.

We had the most amazing server everything she came over she was so so so polite and kind. She was really patient with us and really deserves a pat on the back. Amazing worker and a credit to your restaurant. I think her name was Libbie but I was not 100%. She has coloured hair and glasses, can't praise her enough. We went for food here yesterday afternoon. The food was overpriced and lacklustre at best. Overcooked calamari, limp potatoes that were undercooked, not bad halloumi fries. Disappointing waste of money and won’t be returning.

Callum was our server, and he was very attentive and friendly. The food was lovely, and great portion sizes at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going back 🙂

Breakfast was nice as always with premier inn. Had to wait about 15 minutes at the front before anyone knew we were there to be seated, even phoned the pub to get someone's attention but no one answered. Come to realise it was only 1 woman doing the front of house so we didn't mind in the end, definitely visit again

Like many of my friends, I was under the impression that Beefeater was a somewhat dated restaurant chain, gradually fading into obscurity. However, after attending a city game, my son and I stayed at the adjacent Premier Inn and decided to dine at Beefeater, expecting little. To our delight, the experience was unexpectedly pleasing. Opting for simplicity, we both ordered the double stack burger accompanied by regular fries. The total came to approximately £38, which is standard fare nowadays. The burgers arrived looking deceptively appetizing and fresh, much to my surprise. They were, without exaggeration, some of the finest I've enjoyed in years, featuring a rich smoky BBQ flavor, perfectly balanced with fresh greens and just the right amount of sauce. The fries seemed to be standard deep-fried fare, nothing out of the ordinary, but the accompanying coleslaw was notably fresh and quite delightful. For dessert, we indulged in sticky toffee pudding, which seemed pre-made but was nonetheless satisfactory. My minor quibble was with the scant serving of custard—a trend I attribute to modern culinary fashion, which tends to favor less over more. However, this was a minor point and the best critique I could muster. The restaurant was notably quiet for a Saturday evening, lacking much in the way of ambiance, yet this did nothing to detract from the quality of the meal. If the rest of the menu is prepared with similar care, I’m at a loss as to why it wasn’t busier. Breakfast the next morning was equally commendable, although there was a slight miscount with the bacon servings. Nevertheless, the quality of the food spoke for itself, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Overall, Beefeater delivered a surprisingly good dining experience. It’s a place I would gladly revisit.

Had a party of 16 with 6 kids, can’t fault the food, nothing was missing. Our server Chloe was brilliant. Didn’t forget a thing top marks from us! Thank you

Next time i will be choosing maccies. It is not the cheapest. My main cost 15£ and i had a spoonfull of slaw, chips and chicken burger with a surprise inside. It had a slice of greasy bacon, 1 very thin ring of red onion, 1 small thin slice of tomato and 1 small piece of lettuce, chicken was deep fried and all was saturated with oil! I pressed on it and it was leaking fat! It was all bland, no taste. Such a dissapointment I am most likely not to go back there.

Disgusting!! Met for breakfasts as a family of 8 eating breakfast for my son's 18th birthday. Service was poor, food when it arrived was missing items, some items were cold. Continental breakfast, some items not available, had to wait for milk for cereal, had to ask 3 times, to different staff members for some to get brought. No decaff coffee. Also, felt like it was feeding time at the zoo with kids running around, I know this isn't the restaurants fault and some people really need to control their kids. Won't be going again.

I visited today to have a catch-up with family. I like the Whitegate the food is always good the staff are friendly and the service was quick. It's worth a visit.

Drove past this place for years, finally decided to give it a try, just fancied a cooked breakfast. Presently surprised the breakfast is made to your choice. Reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the meal here. I'll be using it again. Plenty of on-site parking. Genie electric car charger available on site. Premier Inn next door. Not far from the motorway junction off Broadway. Well worth a visit

Booked at 10:15 on the website. Arrived at 10:11 and the lady who was apparently working front of house alone was rather short and demanded i ordered our cooked breakfast immediately. Heres the thing. at that time my breakfast partner had not arrived yet so i ended up calling said partner and taking there order over the phone!😫 sadly to brighten this fast becoming rude member of staffs day the coffee machine demanded an "attendant" upon highlighting the machines issue to the staff member she emptied a jug of milk into the the innards of the machine and actually slammed the door of the machine shut in front of me. I was stunned to find out after recovering from the shock of the manner of the ladies conduct, the bloody machine still wouldnt work! So food was stuffed down my throat as we were totally made to feel like i was imposing on the staffs morning and i cannot tell you if it was good or not. Summing up........ absolute pants!!!

As usual, the food was fantastic. We had the rack of ribs, which were cooked to perfection. However, while the waitress couldn't be more helpful (she was so polite and efficient), she was rushed off her feet because of the lack of staff. This has not put us off going back though.

Unfortunately short staffed, not very polite or welcoming on entering venue. Our waitress was lovely though and apologised for us having to wait for drinks. Food was terrible, burger and chips with no side salad or slaw as stated on menu. They had no sweet potato fries. French fries were the tiniest of size and the chicken breast my friend ordered was an insult looked like half of one! Definitely will not be back.

Ellie the bar is a gem. She treated me with a smile as she recognized My presence immediately I came in, she also served me the best coffee I have had in a while. She is professional and surely a value addition for the premises. Thank you Ellie I know it may be unusual for someone you have served only a coffee to recognize your ability and professionalism but hey, you deserve it. A big thank you

Had lunch here today 31st Dec, This is my local eatery and the food has always been excellent, had a tiny issue today and it was a tiny issue and the way it was dealt with was incredible, the lady who served us was so professional and went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. Went for Christmas Dinner was divine. I felt it was a bit lacking in customer service due to having to repeatedly leave my table to prompt my server. I left a tip. I'd of liked it to have gone to the chef so they would have been aware of how much I appreciated the meal, especially on Christmas day. Previously booked on Christmas with The Fairway, basic. Went to Toby's Carvery, awful. Top of the 3 Beefeater. 😇🫶🏾

We had a booking at white gate on 28/12 /23 at5-30 we went in and nobody was about but one person I think is the manager, she was on a computer, I asked her if we could have a table, and she said do you have a booking, I replied yes, she said just wait there and went back to what she was doing, we waited at least 5 minutes and then two waitresses came up to her and started a conversation with her, then she went back on computer and the two girls went to walk past us into the front bar,I stopped one of them and explained we were waiting for a table, she took us to a table and took a drinks order from us,then we just sat and waited and seen that the place was completely understaffed,nobody came to take our food order they were just rushing about trying to serve people and they were annoyed, in the end we decided to leave so l told the waitress we were going as we had waited much too long and we had experienced this kind of thing the past two times we had been in,we offered to pay for our half drank beers but she said don’t bother and stormed off,this is is happening too often in the white gate, it used to be a nice place to eat with pleasant staff but it seems those times are over.

For whatever reason they were understaffed. But the staff made up for this with excellent personable service from the start. A very enjoyable experience!

It's a cold November evening outside so we decided on here for some local food. Food and service was fine however, the whole restaurant was cold. We moved into the lounge area after our food thinking it would be warmer... We were so wrong. Even colder... All the people around us sat with coats/jackets on. Yes it's cold outside, put the heating on to make it comfortable!

The poor waiter and waitress were run off their feet because they were short staffed. We had to wait longer than expected. Luckily, we weren't in any rush. I'd give a 5 out of 5 for the staff. They coped excellently.

Food was cold. Service time was extremely long. Incorrect item orders. There was simply not enough staff. Staff like Callum was rushed off his feet due to poor management of this business. Won't be coming again

Frequently use this Beefeater as a base, food is always good and the staff are really friendly (Tia and Molly in particular). It does get a little busy sometimes and there are delays in service but surely that is a reflection on the quality of food and service - you just wouldn't go back if it was a bad experience! Occasionally people get things wrong, we're only human, but on these rare occasions things are put right very quickly. Looking forward to the next visit.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Went in on 10/9/23 and the service was disgusting ! Firstyl took our order then waited over 30 minutes to say they didnt have it so had to re order. The member of staff taking the order who was actually a manager had a bad attitude, was rude just clearly didnt want to be working. When they were bringing mains out we asked then to clear the starters as there was 9 of us dining so we needed room. They placed two out of the 5 kids meals down & when they brought the other 3 childrens meals out while holding them said ‘do you want these meals because all your doing is complaining’ - I asked them to clear the starter plates as its in the job description hardly a complaint. So then 3 of my children are upset as they just want their dinner and some women holding it above their heads arguing. Asked to speak to the manager who was originally servering us but then didnt want to as told her to please clear the table and was told she didnt want to speak to us. Over all the 3 members of staff i drlt with were unprofessional, rude & had bad attitudes. There many other pub lunches around with better quality of food, price and the staff are amazing if you want bad service whitegate is the place for you

Went here prebooked for a family dinner on a Sunday at 4 pm 4 adults 5 kids served drinks then ordered server came back 25 mins later no Sunday dinners reorder different food half kids starting missing but 4 adult ones over badically adults got two starters ! Plates not cleared before mains brought out staff then decided as we complained is this coz we don’t have Sunday dinners ! Walked away tutting to herself refused to serve us sent another member staff pathetic behaviour from A grown adult 3 kids serve red two left out no food , dare I complain ! Manager then ask us adults if we wanted are food so three children had food no one else manager should of handled situation better not adult like if u don’t like go , then bill comes over charged for a bottle small wine that’s they also didn’t have in stock three times to amend bill to correct amount I have been here over 200 times never had a problem I will not be returning lost a good customer for good staff I wouldn’t give them 1-10 zero

Was going to leave this review in a couple of days time but I don't think it would be the same once I have calmed down Been here today for our dinner and what should of taken around 1hour maybe 1.5hour actually took 3hours from walking in to walking out the poor women taking orders was on her own was really nice but unfortunately we won't be coming back here anytime soon. The food was average not amazing but the service was absolutely shocking. I can't believe that what should of been a quick dinner turned out to waste the full afternoon.

Went with my mother and my wife and son, we were served at first by a young guy with a beard who when took the drinks order would not allow my son of 17yrs to be allowed a shandy when by law accompanied by parents they are allowed to drink an alcoholic beverage. He argued the toss with me until i started to loose my temper, with which he walked off, we ordered two mixed grills which were both missing onion rings and peas but never noticed until we had finished and my partner said. The female staff we great and very friendly but the young guys attitude stank. We use the whitegate often but im starting to change my opinion now, not needed when your treating dementia suffering mother to witness

Service was good, our waitress was very friendly. I’m just absolutely baffled how they charge £17 for (quite literally) 6 prawns and a handful of fries with a limp bit of rocket? I was shocked when it come out. At least serve a nice side salad with it? Won’t be coming back I’m afraid.

Stayed at the premier inn next door for work but visited here for breakfast and dinner. Have to say dinner was amazing, fair value and friendly staff and great almost. Loved it.

Understaffed, poor man was running round every table by himself looked stressed. Saying that the 3 members of staff we met were all friendly and polite. Food is just standered pre made pub food worth what you pay for if your buying from the deals its cheap amd cheerfull, Not a great deal of choice on the menu especially if your vegan or vegetarian.

Great beefeater. 3 of us had dinner, 2 of the meals were really good but the steak Platter had 3 poor cuts of meat on very fatty, which was left. The rump steak I had was a good cut and cooked perfect. I suppose it's the luck of the draw sometimes with the cuts of meat you get. Nice starter, desserts, and great friendly staff.

Had lunch there on Saturday 22nd July 2023 with some of my family visiting from Ireland. There were 18 of us and Jack looked after us superbly. The food was wonderful and service was fantastic.

Didn't stay for the meal we went for. The place seems fairly run down, the prices seemed high and the staff were absent? It wasn't a complete dive but the seats were grubby and the tables weren't cleaned. We decided to go home and make our own meal.

Food really nice, staff are great. Although on our latest visit we waited 30 minutes for our food & there was only 3 of us.

What a lovely day for my mums 70th birthday..a large party of 32 with pre ordered food and it couldnt of gone any better. Food was lovely an out on time and every1 enjoyed it. Staff were brilliant and went above an beyond to cater for us all and even left a box of chocs to wish her a happy birthday what a lovely touch. Thanku so much for a lovely evening. Highly recommended x

Told the manager about my raw chicken wing and he came out and said it was a vein and they are pre cooked when they come in, well if the chicken was precooked it would have no blood not rocket science, he then walked off and never returned no money back no sorry nothing

Lovely food. Would definitely recommend. Our only issue was we was waiting for a while to have our order taken and there was a bit of a wait in between courses I think this was just as they was busy but overall was lovely and we will be going back.

Had a lovely meal with my mum for her birthday we had the hunters chicken, smokey bbq sauce is lovely but in small doses so glad it came in little pots desserts were also very lovely and our waitress was very lovely and polite overall a lovely experiance and would go again

Had breakfast here it was delicious nice and hot, kids brekkie free with a paying adult.

Had to go and look for someone after waiting 10 minutes to get a table. Not busy only 2 tables eating, waited ages again to be asked what drinks we wanted and they got them wrong, and waited ages to place food order. There were 3 members of staff for 3 tables so no excuse why poor service. When we did get food it was nice. Pub bit dated wallpaper peeling and generally dirty. Won't try again.

I recently had the pleasure of trying the Surf & Turf combo at a Whitegate Inn Beefeater, and it was an absolute delight. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a mouthwatering sear on the outside and a juicy, tender interior. The marbling on the meat added an incredible depth of flavor, and each bite was incredibly satisfying. The steak was served with a flavorful jumbo king prawns that complemented the meat beautifully. It was undoubtedly one of the best steaks I've ever had."

Always nice ...miles better than the one at Heaton Park

Our family are frequent visitors to the Whitegate. We have rarely had any issues with the food, drinks or service, and any concerns we have had, have been dealt with immediately. Our most recent visit a couple of weeks ago was a great experience. It was a busy Thursday evening and the whole restaurant was being looked after by Jasmine. She was EVERYWHERE. Chatting to the customers, remembering the older regulars orders and how they liked things to be. She asked after one of our children that wasn't with us this visit and chatted with our other 2 etc. etc. All the while being completely on the ball with every table. She never stopped.
