Came here as the reviews were so good. The staff were very attentive. Found the pub very noisy even though we sat in the restaurant part, to the point I could hardly hear what my husband was saying to me. We had the Momo chicken to start which was delicious hubby had the Nepalese chicken which he said was really good. I had the chicken korma I felt it lacked colour it was more of a light green than a nice creamy orange like most other korma’s it tasted like it just been poured out of a tin chicken just had no flavour just totally lacked any flavours not a creamy sauce as described ! Nan bread and rice were lovely. Just sad that the Korma dish let it down. Also thought quite expensive for what it was.

A very pleasant surprise. We knew nothing about this venue and simply chose it as we drive past because it looked inviting and had ample car parking. We hadn't booked but were greeted by friendly staff and shown to a nice dining area. The food arrived quickly and tasted excellent. An enjoyable experience all round.

Nepalese restaurant in the pub. We have been here a few times. This place is great, the food is good, there is always a nice feel to the place. The staff are very helpful and are on it. You also are in a pub so you have all the decent beers. The place is clean and tidy, one to visit.

I was one of the group of about 30 people who arrived in smaller groups as we are part of a fundraising walk along the Grand Union canal. We descended without notice and the staff were totally unfazed extremely helpful and the food was simply superb. I cannot recommend this pub restaurant highly enough and the authentricity of the dishes they provided was commented on by everybody in our party. Simply superb Thank you to all the staff for making it a wonderful evening after a long, 18 mile walk

We are regulars so know the quality of food and service which is why we visit again and again . This occasion food was 40 mins late with no explanation When we asked they said they thought we were having drinks so held the food back Once we said we wanted the food it took an additional 10 mins The bill … they charged us for an extra Guiness and a ‘drink, ‘. We questioned the manager said it may be coke or lemonade. we pointed out that we didn’t have any soft drinks only soda water . Which was a small glass with no ice or slice , they had charged £2.60 Once questioned they said the staff made a mistake and took it off along with the extra Guiness Overall food is good but service is slack and always check your bills . This has happened a couple of times and if you don’t notice you end up paying for an extra item …. Very wrong The staff rather sit on phones trying the bar than serve and you have to ask again and again for drinks food etc

An early Monday evening yet the dining area was crowded, a good sign to start. Efficiently brought drinks and menus, and ordered. Relatively quick response with mains, and then the surprise. Portions were large, one rice did two of us, though we are not great rice eaters. The lamb was superb, falling to pieces when using a fork, and melting in the mouth. The spice level was just as my wife-who cannot take any heat at all- wanted, mild but not bland, very enjoyable. The meal, we both agreed, was the best curry we had had out in England for years. If we didn't live so far away we would visit regularly. Well done all the staff for a memorable meal

The pictures on google must be out of date as they do not do a Sunday roast as the pictures would suggest. Its a curry house. The food was ok, I asked for a chicken tikka in a sauce but the chef put plain chicken but I spotted it and asked for the menu to be adjusted accordingly. The staff were pleasant and nice but I really wanted a Sunday Roast.

I wasn’t sure what we were coming to, was it a pub or an Indian restaurant. Well, it was kinda both! All the beers a pub would serve and some very tasty Indian food! We enjoyed the meal and everyone agreed their food was good 👍 My only criticisms were, the random drunk who decided to chat to our table. Seemed to be a regular and knew the staff, the staff did nothing to encourage him away from us. Also, the no dog policy happily broken by another regular who bought his in. And the blocked toilet which had been filled with paper (as the toilet had no bin) meaning the toilet could not be used. Just a few small things that took the shine off…

The White Bear had been recommended to us by a friend who said the food was amazing. We had wanted to visit for some time so finally on Friday 22nd July we actually managed to get there to try the food ourselves. We went as a family, the food was amazing & piping hot. Service for food & drink was excellent & the staff were very friendly too, the manager at the end of the night even bought the whole table a drink of our choice. We will definitely be going back for sure.

We were staying a couple of nights to attend a wedding, and on the first night we booked a table here as we thought everywhere would be busy due to the Jubilee weekend. We ordered poppadoms which arrived almost immediately. My husband had dhansak and I had the chicken tikka which was delicious. The portion sizes were good, the food was hot and it was very tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. One very small point.... the plates were cleared while my husband was still chewing his last mouthful of food, so perhaps wait a few minutes before clearing the table? We had desert (apple crumble and a tub of ice cream) and it was all very nice. A really nice meal, friendly staff and good service and the food arrived quickly and we were kept topped up with drinks. We would certainly eat here again if ever we came back to Rickmansworth.

Popped in for a spot of food with friend as its close to our hotel, probably up there with the worst service and food I've had when eating out. Ordered poppadoms and dips and lamb chops ,onion bahji and a tika massala. The food was very salty, the dips never arrived for the poppadoms and no one thought to ask if the food was OK or why they hadn't been touched. Coke was pretty flavourless but I needed something to wash the salt away. Not great value and 10% put on bill for the service which we didn't receive. Paid the bill and won't go back!

In the past I wouldn't hesitate recommending anyone I know to go there but recently, and I know these are challenging times for all businesses, there's no way I would anymore. The militant way they go about interpreting the rules (in they're favour) is not a welcoming environment. They are making everyone feel uncomfortable by making them order a meal straight away before a drink is unlike any other pub I've experienced since the end of the 2nd lock down. They've increased they're prices and it smacks of taking advantage of the current situation. It's a real shame.

Five of us went for lunch at the White Bear on New Years Day. We had booked in advance as we thought it would be busy - and it was. We were shown to a nice table by a window and were given our menus -although we had never been before, we know that it was Indian food. We place our order, and had a drink and after a reasonable wait, our food arrived. It was absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, and made sure our drinks were replenished as required. We struggled to finish the food as there was so much, and so one of my friends asked for a takeaway box so that he could tuck in later, which wasn’t a problem. We got the bill and the price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place. My only regret? Some sympathy there but...Payment for food was demanded up front. One staff member was pleasant, the others shambling, poorly trained and indifferent. The second worst aspect about our experience was the 45 minute wait for food and the worst was that the food made us all feel ill. Better stay at home or go elsewhere. There was the usual range of foods you associate with an Indian menu, but with the addition of various Himalayan sauces. We had lamb dishes and the meat was tender and the sauces enjoyable. We both tried different things on a lovely Sunday afternoon. Overall the service was good the the venue was pleasant. However, the food was terrible. The curry looked as though each dish was made with the same tomato sauce and had the same incipid smell. Curry cook in sauce, nice if you like that kind of thing, which obviously from the rave reviews is most people. The Roast Beef looked wonderful but honestly it had all the flavours extracted from it and was quite the worst Sunday lunch I have had in years. All the bits were right but it had been cooked by someone who has actually never tried English food. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were frozen and the vegetables had all been boiled together with the parsnips. The beef was two slices of frying steak and not slices from a roasted joint. Our dog Tilly enjoyed one of these as I could not eat it - and I normally eat everything.

my second visit in a week and I will now be a regular, first visit last Friday was just to look but after perusing the menu decided to give it a try, great decision, really lovely food, good service and very attentive staff, second visit yesterday for lunch this time as dinner was the first and equally good, going again this Thursday, with friends, I highly recommend.

This pub serves really good Indian/Nepalese food. We love the lamb chops, chicken wings, garlic and chilli mogo and paneer tikka. Even if something is not on the menu they will try their best to make it. Arun is great and you always get service with a smile. We are known on a first name basis because we have been back so many times. A great local place to eat with authentic food.

I've always loved the White Bear! The food is to die for, really flavorful and always cooked to perfection. Always a warm friendly atmosphere & made to feel welcome as soon as I walk through the door. Highly recommend for curry lovers!

The food here is above average and I would go again. However, we were subjected to Mr. I'mBetterThanThis, our waiter. We all felt that he was the son of the owner (although this was never authenticated), and his attitude was the cloud over an ootherwise very pleasant evening. No pleasantries, just a distant, I shouldn't have to serve attitude. Please, if you do not want to be part of your owner's/father's success, then leave, and make your own success......if you can!

Popped in to here for a quick lunch.Warmly welcomed and easy lunch menu.We had garlic mushrooms to start.Hot and plenty of them.I had the home made burger and chipsWife had chicken burger and chips. Both were excellent. We waited maybe a little longer than normal but nothing extensive between starter and main but we were not in a rush and was nice to just relax.I was so glad to find a normal pub for a normal quick lunch.....no arty farty gastro pub that wants to charge ridiculous prices because they put the word gastro in front of the word pub!!!Total credit to you White Bear !!!Will definitely pop back next time in area.2 x starter2 x mains1 large red wine1 coke Under £26!

We dropped in here for a late lunch as when we passed by , en route to the restaurant we'd planned to go to, we saw they advertised Nepalese food which we'd not tried before. The outside made us a little wary, its at the junction of a busy road and looks a bit old & rundown, but the inside was comfortable and clean, and car park was easily accessible.Your order is taken at the table rather than the bar.The service was efficient but wasn't obtrusive and you didnt feel rushed. There was just two of us - We had the special mixed grill, green chicken,1x rice & 2x poppadoms 1xnan and struggled to eat it all. It was all well cooked, and we'd never eaten meat so tender - delicious! We'll definitely be back.

Fresh vegetables - carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, parsnip, roast potatoes - and yummy Yorkshire puddings as well! Choice of meats. Warm and friendly environment. Family atmosphere. Great for watching the football too.

After several far too hot to eat Indian meals in other restaurants, my wife was put off from trying Indian food again but was finally persuaded to give the food at the White-bear a try. What a great meal we had. She went and booked her birthday meal there and I will be having mine there too. The food is spicy but not too hot and delicious.I can highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. The staff are friendly and helpful without being overbearing.

After listening to my boyfriend go on and on about how good the food is here, I insisted that he bring me for a pre holiday dinner - and I was not disappointed. This was genuinely the best Indian food I have ever had! There is a great selection of dishes and all very reasonably priced. The food was full of flavor and served promptly. The staff were great and very attentive and we were not made to feel rushed or anything. Despite the fact that the restaurant was full, the service was not affected. Would definitely recommend for anyone who loves a good curry!!!

FIRST and LAST TIME... We ordered for delivery vegetarian thalis from Forest of India. Quantity was great but that's where the buck stopped. My son absolutely loves Indian food and Naans but he declined to eat the SWEET NAANS where the sugar was still overpowering despite dipping naans in curries. Mushroom and other curries had minimal taste in them and mushrooms were runny & bland. I understand that taste and spice levels are toned down a bit to cater wider demographics but this was absolutely unacceptable. Everything was either SWEET or BLAND... We will avoid getting food from Forest of India.

Quality of the meat shockingly bad. Would never order chicken or duck again. Egg fried rice was ok. Vegetable spring rolls were decent.
