Friendly and efficient staff, reliably good food.

Just ordered a side of chips...not as I would havd expected...not crisp and the insides were in the soft and some mushy...may have been sitting the warmer to long...Great service and very clean shop.

Excellent food, the restaurant is in a converted Fire Station so it is very loud when busy. Back again, the staff are really lovely and the food was excellent. Really good value for money. Lunch you are looking at about £15/ person.

Been a few time to whitby's doncaster and satisfied everyvtime ,great atmosphere lovely staff and the food is to die for. Just taken my sister and her hubby and they loved it too.

Such a nice place to eat. Have a good selection of starters and deserts. Fish is battered to perfection. I thought the portion size of the chips could have been better. Was served hot. Good portions of sides and sauces.

Hmm I went to the rake away and was expecting amazing things. I had a small chips and scraps (I went in for a fishcake buttu but discovered they don't sell proper fishcakes!!). Simply put they weren't great.hoy, but not great

Went for a meal for my mother’s birthday Found out that all the food is cooked in beef dripping which was I issue for my brother as he is a pescatarian He ended up with a fish pie that was very bland. After ordering mine and informing them I’m highly allergic to shellfish they returned 5-10 minutes later to inform me that all the food is cooked in the same oil, chips, fish and shellfish . I was unable to eat unless I wanted omelette or boil potatoes Very poor in my eyes and I find it hard to believe that cross contamination is except able in this restaurant

Ordered a homemade fish cake today around 12 o’clock and I was really disappointed, it looked nice but it was bland and cold in the middle. First time here but won’t be returning sadly

Haddock was nice , chips dry like razor blades. Not acceptable and not as good as the branch at catcliffe. No kids menu which is bizarre , won't be visiting again!!

Having visited several times and enjoyed the meal, we were surprised to be served with very dry and old looking chips and also cold peas. Won’t be going back in a while.

First time hear ordered fish and chips only to find the next table came in after us and get there meal before us also asked for our coffee after our meal we had to ask 3 times...... Just an update went today the chips was awful like rubber been wormed up terrible and the fish was swimming in oil.

Absolutely lovely. Repurposing the old fire station - inspired! Not the cheapest, but the quality is outstanding. Now I have had f&c takeaway from here on occasion and they are just perfect. But on this visit, in a long overdue attempt to 'eat healthy' I had the prawn salad. Or rather huge salad with prawn mountain! Honestly I'd have served that many prawns to 2 or 3 people. Absolutely delicious. The staff were excellent. Completely unbiased by a large group (20+ people) on a weekday afternoon. (It was a wake, but she loved fish n' chips so it was 100% apt!) Won't hesitate to recommend.

The best fish and chips restaurant we have ever been to + the gluten free batter is as good as the normal batter. We have eaten here numerous times.now and have never been disappointed.

We visit Whitby’s every so often as a family for a “sit down” fish and chips. The fish is always fresh and battered perfectly. Chips are fluffy and the fish pie is delicious. The steak pie is full of meat and just falls apart in your mouth. We always have a great service, the waiter/waitresses are very attentive. We will be back as it’s some of the best food in Doncaster :)

Nice fish and chip with taste to the haddock. Have choice of skin or no skin. Staff friendly and service good. We had take away.....the best way for fish and chip. Pitty no seating area outside though. For 3 people reasonably priced. Around a tenner per chips and fish.

First time ever visiting, staff were very welcoming and accommodating. My daughter has asd and adhd, nothing was too much for the staff and they made her feel very at ease when she struggles socially and the food was amazing 👏

Cooked in beef dripping, probably the best fish and chips i have tested, until tomorrow when I go back again! Just been again a couple of years later and still great.

A wonderful experience for a Dutch person! “Haddock with skin” you could order with or without skin, the curry sauce is highly recommended!

Absolutely disgusting. Don't know about double fried , the chips and gravy looked like they were last nights. They charge all that money and make out they are cooking as fish shops used to. Chips went straight in bin they were that bad. Wish I'd taken a photo before binning them. Never again will I go.

First time visit to the restaurant, having used the takeaway many times. The food was delicious and served extremely quickly. The service was excellent with extremely friendly staff. We will definitely be back again and would highly recommend.

The fish and chips here are excellent, the dining experience is too, staff are friendly and welcoming, service is fast in a very open environment, we ordered cod and chips x 3 regular with curry sauce (very tasty) the portion size is huge, will definitely be coming back post swimming at the dome. Oh have to recommend the Dandelion & Burdock on tap too, goes down well with the food 5*

Only had a takeaway tonight. Very disappointed with very dry chips. We both had fishcake and chips and curry. We actually put almost all the chips in the bin. My wife was convinced they were yesterdays chips warmed up. We have had nice food from Whitbys lots of times But tonight's were awful. Makes me wonder if something has been changed to cut back?

A very good takeaway & restaurant, one of the best chippys in Doncaster. Fish is freshly cooked to order, chips are always of good quality. The staff are always so amazing, friendly & helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, any problems and they are quick to sort it. Not that we've experienced any issues in the 3yrs we've been using them :-) Our favourite chip shop in Doncaster

Went on Thursday 4th, in a group of seven, seated spot on time, waitress appeared quickly to take order, all staff were great, however the food wasn’t quite as good as the service, some of us ordered regular some small! But it was difficult to tell the difference! There was a distinct lack of chips served to all our guests which were all either under or over cooked, everything else was good, especially the dessert’s Second visit for me and not as good as the first time

Atmosphere and serve was great. I opted for a small cod and chips, cod wasn't great quite flat and thin and lots of batter.

Oh my goodness😅. I'm moving to Doncaster 😅😅. Absolutely really excellent fish and chips cooked properly, the Yorkshire way. Not to be missed by any Yorkshire folk.

Situated opposite the Racecourse. Usually very good fish and chips. Large pleasant restaurant where the service is usually quite quick but the take away shop can be a little slower sometimes. Very good use for the old fire station. Not cheap but good value.

Had takeaway fish and chips. We ate in the car, in whitby's carpark so there was not a long delay from purchase to eating. Unfortunately we did not enjoy them. Fish had little flavour and the batter was very thin and greasy, no crunch at all. The chips were quite sweet and also greasy. Very disappointing as we have eaten in the restaurant a few times and they have always been good

The staff was very friendly, the food was good, not exceptional - if I compare it with other places that have f&ch for similar price, I must say this one was not as good as others i have had before. Still decent, and I would come again. What I think is a bit disappointing is the fact that they don't include the sauce in the price of the f&ch. It is not the cheapest take away, so I would expect to get a sauce with it.

Very disappointed that there is no facility to fry the food without beef dripping so that it can be eaten by pescartarians and the chips by vegetarians.

Poor last visit,one fish good another bad, seemed to have been refried as it was tough and batter very brown, disappointing really as we usually enjoy.

Food was great and so was the service.

A little bit expensive but very nice.
