Normally visit the Wheldale Hotel on castleford tigers matchdays, but have just been for the first time with my dad to try there english breakfast, £7.95 for what was probably the best breakfast I've ever had, and it also comes with toast, orange juice and tea, all the products used are of the best quality and at that price point I don't think there's anywere local that will beat it!

Adequate size en-suite double room with a large, comfy bed, a desk, large telly (with SKY), and two armchairs. The hotel is going through the latter stages of a face-lift, and the improvements since my stay in September last year are amazing. The breakfast is stunning, and the dinner menu, while limited, is wholesome, delicious, and freshly cooked by host and chef Paul. I'm confident this hotel will be a true gem in the area again very soon. Thanks too, Donna, for the lovely, warm welcome. I wish you both well for the future and look forward to staying with you again when I'm next in the area.

I’ve been a regular at Ella’s for a few years now. The food & coffee are excellent, it had a cosy relaxed atmosphere, where importantly the music isn’t too loud ( sounds trivial, but it’s nice to be able to hear your own thoughts!) Ella’s, is a little gem, but don’t tell everyone! Otherwise, I’ll never get a window seat! 🧐

Absolutely DELICIOUS food. The sauce in all the dishes has fantastic consistency and the flavours are great. The chapatis are perfect, so many other places make them too thick with underdone dough. I don't visit any restaurant that charges over £1.50 for 1 single chapati. Although Bengal Palace may not look modern chic, it has a calm vibe and it definitely wins in the quality cuisine department. It also has a licensed bar. 1 of 2 best Indian restaurants in Wakefield city centre.
