Wheatsheaf in Monmouthshire

One of the two pubs that serve Magor. Both owned by enterprise inns. Prices at both pubs are very high. Probably because of excessive rents charged by the pub co.

Working in the area, staying in the TY Hotel. The Wheatsheaf was recommended by somebody on site and it didn't disappoint. Friendly staff and lovely food. Definitely recommend if your in the area.

I had a lovely lunch with my mother and they fitted us in without having made a reservation. The service was good and the meal was excellent.

Just returned from diner and a surprise meeting with a Magor local who I know since 2015. Great atmosphere and excellent dishes. We will eat here more often during our stay in South Wales.

14 of us had an amazing Sunday lunch yesterday. The vegetables were just so fresh and plenty of them. The meat was perfect . Staff were attentive and friendly. Loved it .Thank you all

Good food served by pleasant and efficient staff. Non alcoholic Corona or Asahi available. £3.75 for 330ml Corona, still a bit high but better than lots of pubs out there. Recommended.

Had a family catch up here on 18/07/24 and booked to eat here. We got served very quickly by a very bubby lady who made my fathers day by confirming they had Guinness 00. After drinks was served our starters came out. I cannot recommend the Korean Chicken enough if you like a subtle spice. And mum had a prawn cocktail which had loads of prawns...very impressive. For mains we had fish n chips, saracchi chicken burger, curry and Guinness pie all cooked beautifully and thoroughly enjoyed by our group. And for desert waffles, brownie and ice cream for just 3 of us, which ended our meal beautifully. The service was faultless and special mention to a young gentlemen who had banter with my dad and said his name was Bartholomew the 3rd lol...he had us all in stitches with his wit and cheerfulness a real credit to the team. Will definitely be returning with more of our family and friends.

Traditional olde style British pub. Staff can't do enough for you, also there's a new sheriff in town apparently he's pretty good. Fair play and good luck lads!! Delightful place to spend five minutes of our hectic lives tis 🌟🌟

In love with this typical Welsh pub. Wide choice of beers, typical food and an atmosphere that takes you back to the places you only see in films. Nice experience for a tourist.

We’ve been coming here for a few years and the quality of food and service has risen over the years. It was always good traditional pub grub, but last few times we’ve been, everything has just got better - food, service, and value for money. Can’t fault them so five stars from me. Great pub!

Went as a group of 6. Us and 2 other couples. We had 2 courses and a 3 course meal which was lovely and reasonably priced. The place, service and atmosphere was lovely and busy too.

Came in this evening 23/12/23, warm and comforting atmosphere. Food was lovely and worth trying the cheesecake of the day. However found the service very slow, staff were too busy talking amongst themselves, standing around twiddling thumbs and looking miserable they could smile once in a while

Just had a lovely meal here. Baked camembert was lovely, belly pork with crackling and slightly spiced apple sauce with perfectly seasoned vegetables was superb and the expresso martini mousse was immense. Excellent! Tom Wilson, our waiter, was lovely too.

Went in for food and I couldn't have been more happier with the experience. Staff could not have been more helpful, food served was exceptional and the Wheatsheaf was a lovely environment. Will definitely be returning.

Exceptionally accommodating for Sunday Lunch, there are two vegetarian options and they can make it gluten free on request without a fuss, nothing is too much. Can't fault the service and quality of food we had today, very reasonable prices too.

Cracking pub grub, all cooked really well. Portions are generous and the side portions are very generous good value for money and cooked brilliantly. It’s our local so we are lucky!! Cheers and keep it up. P.S they are very dog friendly which is a bonus.

Asked for a table and the short waitress with black hair replied with no more walk ins bye! I was very surprised from the attitude of the waitress. She could had been more polite and just say you’ll need to book a table next. Disgusting attitude from that young girl! Caldicot is not a massive area and if she speaks like that to guests definitely won’t having people coming back and we definitely not coming back or recommend it to anyone! Terrible Service!!! Don’t visit!!

I can't comment on the food as did not have any but what a loverly place. Welcoming, staff were brilliant and helpful. Atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend and next time I will be trying the food as it looked good coming out the kitchen.

Lovely to revisit old haunts. The staff are brilliant and complied to any additional adjustments on the menu. The food is good and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

Booked a table over the phone for Friday night. Young lad on the phone said it was busy so asked if we could come in early. I said that was fine and asked if that meant we would only have the table for a certain amount of time. He ensured me we didn't and it was just to make it easier on the kitchen staff. We arrived at 5pm and upon arrival were advised by the waitress that we would need to vacate our table by 7pm at the latest as they had a large party coming in. I said I asked this question over the phone and we were advised we would have the table all night and her response was 'well, I've only just started my shift so don't know what's going on'. As it was a special meal we did not want to be rushed and decided not to stay as we would not be able to relax knowing someone else needed our table. Thankfully for us, the Indian restaurant across the road was very accommodating and fitted us in and we were able to stay there for as long as we wanted. REALLY disappointed in our booking and if two sittings are happening customers should be advised at the time of booking instead of lying and saying we would have the table all evening. Would give it one star based on how we were treated but giving two stars as have had drinks here many times before and the quality of the drinks were excellent.

First visit back in a while and realised how much we've missed this place. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to help, no matter what time you get there. Food is amazing too, so well presented its been eaten twice over with your eyes before it even reaches your taste buds..... Highly recommend a visit 😊

We had the roast lamb for Sunday lunch which was excellent and very good value for money. A real olde worlde decor and a great ambience. Excellent customer service Returned some months later for midday lunch. Again staff could not have been more helpful. My mum and I had scampi and chips which was very good. Our dessert of sticky toffee pudding with cream was absolutely delicious

An outstanding Sunday lunch with a good selection of beers (although they need to start having at least one darker beer regularly available). Lovely stone-built building with a cosy feel despite being deceptively large inside. Waiting staff excellent.

Great pub and food,polite and friendly staff as well, went there last night and the atmosphere great. We were deciding to go home after a drink and then a staff member came over to our table and got us another drinks order, very impressed and lovely service. Will be going back for sure!
