I am here often, whenever I have been shopping in Livingston. Many people look down on Spoons, but it does what it says on the tin. It is cheap and d cheerful. Spoons can have poor service sometime, but this is one of the better ones. Service is usually fine, though sometimes app orders are prioritised over the bar, but once fixed, they catch up soon. The service in this Spoons is definitely one of the better ones, and the staff are always polite and friendly. Food is nothing special, but decent enough. The steaks are good value, compared to eateries round the area. The food special, but does the job. Yes, a lot of it is partially pre-prepared, but that is the case in most chain restaurants, and many others too. Here is where this one has let itself down though, and it is a recent event. It was closed for a few days for re flooring. And it reopened there had also been a reorganisation. Now there are too many tables and chairs. They are crammed together, so there is little to no personal space. The waiting staff down well to navigate through the maze of tables and narrow gaps. Sadly, it also means, if you are in a wheelchair or have limited mobility, it will now be a real struggle for you. Before it was not always straightforward, but was manageable, as there were still a few accessible tables. I am not sure this is the case now. If you have a pushchair, especially given their size now, it will also be a real struggle.

I met up with friends for dinner. We ordered through the app, and the service was good. The waitress was lovely and very pleasant and friendly. That's when it took a turn. We had to send an onion bhaji back as it was cremated. The next one wasn't much better. My friend and I had the chicken tikka masala. It was nice enough but it was not very warm. We know it's not gourmet food, but it could at least be hot. I think I'll just stick to drinking in the place. Good staff

wont be back, my son has autism and we always carry his lunch with us, as he cant eat anything from the menu, this has never been a problem any time and i always say this to the waitress which i did and she was fine as always, well 3 times a different waitress came up to us telling us to take my sons food away 3 times i told them to go back to the manager and explain, we were a family 0f 6 so paid quite a bit for our meal, the head office was useless and pasted an email back to me from their terms it seems, def wont be back is it worth it for microwaved food and watered down drinks? keep it maybe its time you rethought that out of date policy

Please don’t pop in for anything more than a single or a quick bite to eat. The place can’t decide if it’s a family restaurant or a bar for people to enjoy themselves. Happy to accept your money but quick to action complaints from families if you’re a little “too loud”. Lots of other establishments in the area to choose from that don’t double up as a crèche, I’d give this place a miss.

We popped into the Newyearfield for a bite of lunch after a shopping trip to the Designer Outlet Centre. As with all Wetherspoon’s restaurants the menu is varied with dishes to suit all tastes. Our food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering and service by the waitress was warm and friendly. Both our dishes were well presented, tasty with generous size portions. At £20 for both meals which included one alcoholic and one soft drink you will not find better value for money anywhere. The fact that every table in the restaurant was taken is testament to the Wetherspoon success story.

The venue lacked atmosphere, staff standing around looking miserable, not very inviting, but we sat down anyway, baked potato was mushy but burnt on the bottom and the salad had obviously been lying out for too long. The pizza was way under cooked, sent it back and could here a chef moaning about it being sent back, really unprofessional restaurant, it was brought back burnt on top with a sarcastic smile from the server. Not somewhere any of our family would ever go back too, only positive was the location.

Was left waiting at the bar whilst 5 other people who arrived after me were served . Eventually gave up and ordered on the app meaning I couldn’t use a discount voucher. I assume it was because I have an English accent. How racist. Particularly as I was born in Glasgow and live in Stirling. I had an English friend who joined me and it was embarrassing.

First time eating in a Wetherspoons, never again! The quality of the food was of an extremely low standard. The burgers were cheap and overcooked, garnishes missing. Low prices = low food standards.

Cold food, inattentive staff and that delightful 'Spoons aroma. It's a deeply depressing place to visit and reflects Livingston perfectly (I was born in Livingston). I see no reason to ever return. Just don't eat here unless you're hammered.

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the treatment my family received at your restaurant. My family and I arrived at your restaurant tonight, looking forward to having a pleasant evening together. However, we were met with a disappointing surprise when your staff asked us to leave your place, without providing any prior information. To start with, there was no sign or notice outside the restaurant indicating that children were not allowed after 8. Secondly, your staff did not communicate with us in a polite or kind manner, leaving us bewildered and embarrassed. We had no other option but to leave and look for another restaurant that could accommodate us. It was extremely inconvenient and upsetting for us, as we had made reservations and were looking forward to having a good time. I believe that you should make your policies clear and visible to all customers to avoid such misunderstandings. Moreover, your staff should be trained to handle such situations with kindness and empathy, as it can be upsetting and embarrassing for customers.

I ordered Mushroom Benedict, it arrived and looked as though the sauce was plastic, the muffin had barely seen a toaster and it was lukewarm at best. My friend was given something totally different from what she had ordered and had to send it back, only for it to return and not be what was asked for again. Hot chocolate appeared warm enough, but tea was not very warm at all. Definitely would not recommend, plenty of other establishments which could be visited.

We've been a few times at this pub, it was not too bad. Typical Wheterspoon pub, busy but effective. This time it was a terrible experience, never again. On Sunday eve, we ordered a steak and an American cheeseburger. The steak was pretty good, the American cheeseburger should have had some cheese, Jerry, some sauce, red onions. They brought me a burger with no sauce, no onions, no jerky. I told the waitress and she brought it back to the kitchen and came back with the same burger, just some cheese on the top and she said there were no onions that eve. I paid for the American cheeseburger in advance anyway and I hadn't any refund. NOT recommended!!!!!

First of all I understand you were short staffed and busy today. I get that this makes things hard. However during our time in the restaurant today we were left highly disappointed with the lack of customer service and using simple logic. When we arrived there wasn't many tables to choose from with most of them having the last customers rubbish left. We located a table. 1st waitress walked by. I politely said "Excuse me" to which I was ignored.( Always a possibility of not hearing me but I know I said it loud enough and it's a word most waitresses would listen out for) A 2nd waitress walked by and I asked could some one clear the table. She replied with ill get someone to come and clear it. First of all there wasn't much to clear. A plate, 2 cans and sugar over the table. Why she needed someone else and/or why she didn't just do it herself is beyond me. Waited a little to see if what was happening. Seen 4 waitresses standing waiting at the TV. In this time the table could of been cleared and happy customer. Anyway slightly frustrated I thought I'd just say to the manager to Speed things up. Got to the bar, waited 5/10 mins to which a couple of other customers joked about the lack of service. Being short staffed I get causes these issues. The girl that served us was fine. I asked for a manager and she sorted it quickly, great. During this time my partner had asked for a cloth to clear it herself which again went no where. The Manager that dealt with me should not be a manager if she can't handle dealing with customers.. I explained we just wanted the table cleared. We had said to a few people, it's a 2 second job to give it a quick clear. The table next to us hadn't been cleared and a couple had left because it wasn't being cleared. She explained you were understaffed and busy in a tone that displayed how much of a inconvenience I was being, very anrupt and rude . Instead of saying sorry ill have it sorted and then stormed off. No apology or any customer service. I get she was I know I wouldn't of spent a life changing amount however I know a lot of people in the community and such a small indecent could lose a few customers. The manager needs some sort of training with handling customers. She was very unprofessional and childish.

No offer to wipe the filthy table I was sitting at. Nor even an apology from whom I think was some kind of manager in black had to deal with a similar complaint directly opp me. (Kayleigh or something was her name)… her reply was always “I have to go with what MY staff are saying. MY staff this) :-( I then ordered a bottle of wine. It arrived. My plate was not cleared :-( neither my Stella glass That arrived after my pizza :-( It’s now an hour and 30 mins since I arrived. The plates I cleared myself to adjacent table are still sitting piled up. DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE BAR!!.. poor show. This place has hit the gutter. Used be okay. We popped in here whilst Xmas shopping, it was 10am on a Monday morning so not the busiest I've seen it. We had to walk round to find a table as although there was loads of empty tables, they was only one clear table. No one was clearing tables at all. Both myself and husband wanted a large breakfast a traditional and a vegetarian one, only to be told they had sold out of the large, but if we wanted we could order normal breakfasts and pay separately for the additional items - what an absolute rip off. Take it off your menu if it's not sustainable. Glad we did go with the smaller ones as they were absolutely rubbish, god knows what the vegetarian sausage is, it's like chewing a cooked cork, that tastes of nothing. My husband had what I could only call bean juice that had about 10 beans in it and a piece of charred bread, which I presume was supposed to be toast but we couldn't tell as when he went to cut it, it disintegrated into a fine dust. We ended up going to cafe Nero round the corner an hour later which was spot on.

Went in for a quick lunch and it's genuinely the worst place I've experienced in terms of staff. We sat just outside the kitchen and had waiters wondering up shouting orders in to the chefs, querying orders that were ready to be served and just generally wondering around aimlessly looking for something to do. However, the worst person without a doubt in this place was the manager. She is one of these people who is incapable of talking instead she insists on shouting. She would appear every two minutes shouting at staff and giving sarcastic comments to them. Not an ounce of professionalism in her attitude. There was one waiter who was having a lunch break behind us and at one point she walked up to his table, leaned right over it, picked up a handful of chips from his plate and stuffed them into her mouth. At one point she was even shouting about the fact the toilets in the disabled and ladies toilets were blocked and how it was so disgusting, in front of people who were having meals. When the food did arrive I couldn't believe it, we ordered two hot dogs and the 'dog' was about two foot long with a roll that was half the size of it, it just looked so stupid. Really disappointed with this place, used to be decent, now it's atrocious. All down to the staff, every one of them, especially the manager.

First time in this pub as usually visit other wetherspoons in Livingston but due to no seats available in that one (every table was dirty with plates),we opted for hereSame problem as other wetherspoons etc... loads of dirty tables cluttered with empties.Lunch of cheese and tomato Panini with chips and garlic bread.Chips were cold....garlic bread was cold...Panini was very hotYep mixed bag .....didn't get check back as the only waitress/table cleaner/meal dropper offer was nowhere to be seen and I'm not in the habit of taking my meal over to the bar to complain and to be honest anyway the manager and bar staff were too busy chatting and laughing to have cared.Food WAS served quickly which means chips must just have been the remnants of the Bain Marie and garlic bread was soft which means it was probably under grill for 10/20 secondsChef probably spent so much time on the Panini that he/she would have been feeling overworked to make sure chips and garlic bread were up to standardAs an ex manager of pubs and restaurants I would have had no problem disciplining/ sacking everyone of them as people spend their hard earned money in these type of places and deserve better.

Went on a Sunday afternoon. Not many tables were clean, ended up sitting by the kitchen. Had to get a menu from another table, liquid poured off it. A fish and chip meal we ordered was sat under the lights waiting to be served to the table for over 15 minutes. The rest of our order was sat there for over 5 mins, whilst other food was served, which was there after ours. When our food was finally served, the service was miserable. The bar also did not have many beers on tap and was out of the drink I wanted. Overall this was one of the worst eating experiences I have ever had. Other Wetherspon's we have tried, give you warm food, sadly this restaurant is very hit and miss.

Me and my mates have been going to this place for fifteen years and I still don't know why. People who take their children there are prime candidates for eugenics, cheap alcohol and terrible service. They (weatherspoons) bought the pub across the way so we now have two practically identical drinking establishments facing one another with equally crappy service. Occasionally there is a staff member who is cool but most of the patrons are there due to the quick staff turnover (and banishment from other pubs) Why do I go there? It's close, cheap beer and that's it. Most of the time the beer is awful, they can't change the taps properly. if you want a drink or a meal, please go to one of the other places like the Mall Cafe or even the Paraffin Lamp, sure the latter is a bit rough but all joking aside the service is great and the drinks are always fresh.

I work in a cafe so know when things have been microwaved and everything on the plate apart from the toast looked like it had been cooked then put in microwave to heat up. I saw a few of the staff glance at the dirty tables then walk away.Decided to give the place the benefit of the doubt and came back another time for lunch and we will never be back again. For a restaraunt that large it should deffo be table service as we qued for 30 minutes!!!! Ordered a frappie and it was absolutely disgusting. Tasted like cold coffee that had been left out for days, no sweetness with big chunks of ice. Couldnt drink it. The food was ok until we noticed there was red sauce on our bread and none of us had ordered anything with sauce, there was also a bit of dried out tuna on my plate and i had ordered a blt so i dont know if it was a dirty plate or not. Tables were a mess, they dont wipe them all they do is clear the plates and thats it. There were alot of families waiting for clean tables yet none of the staff were bothered to clean any! We have visited this pub several times over the years and sometimes I really wonder why we go back. However it is convenient for a meal before going to the pictures or one after the pictures if you have been at an early showing. Over the years the food that we have had has ranged from not bad to absolutely dreadful. at least once in the past we have had to send plates of food back for heating up as they had been served cold. Someone obviously forgot to put them in the microwave for long enough - I am under no illusions about how much of the food is prepared in the kitchen! However the poorest aspect of this pub is the service which ranges from poor to virtually nonexistent. It's not as though there aren't enough staff, its just that far too often then are chatting to colleagues or patrons that they know rather than taking orders promptly and serving diners. No doubt the fault lies with poor management as other branches of Wetherspoons that we have visited elsewhere do not seem to suffer from a similar problem. You have been warned.

Food what you would expect from wootherspoons /cheap n cheerfull, however was totally put of my meal when it was presented by a server with long hair tied back this was not an issue however his beard was!!!!!! - it was long down to his chest and was hovering very near to my food when he served my meal absolutely disgusting and he should in my opinion not be allowed to serve or work with food presenting himself like this. I myself am employed in enviromental health and i urge the manager to deal with this as it is unacceplable or i myself will need to report this as a health/safety issue.

Firstly, I must say that I am surprised by all the negative reviews as each time I pass Wetherspoons it is very busy. Anyway, we had been driving all day and decided to go to Wetherspoons as it was near and I had heard great things about it. We found a free table, decided what we wanted and I went to order. The young lady was very helpful. I was not driving so decided to have a beer. They have a great selection but I did not know what i wanted so she let me try some. Good service. I ordered what wanted and she advised on the specials and the offers. Excellent. Paid and sat down. The meals came pretty quickly. No complaints. My fish and chips were great and his steak was just as he wanted. Side order of raw onions was generous. I had another beer. He had juice and we later had coffees. I certainly had no complaints about the food or the drinks or the service. There is free parking in the evenings and plenty of it. The toilets could have done with a bit of attention but as they had been busy it may have slipped their minds that evening. I will certainly visit again and when the weather is better you can sit outside.

Went here during the week at lunchtime with the family for some lunch. The boys ordered BBQ Hog Dogs which were huge!!! and came with chips and onion rings. As it was a Tuesday me and my other half went for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £15 which you cant argue with how reasonably priced that is. I went for the sirlion with a peppercorn sauce done medium rare and my other half went for the rump (14oz as he loves steak - his words not mine) with the cheese sauce and 5 hot chicken wings aswell. The staff were very friendly and took the time to chat with the kids which was good. The steak was cooked very well and how we asked for it to be done. The chicken wings were yummy too. What you've got to remember when eating in places like wetherspoons is always go for things that are cooked on the grill, in the fryer or that is cold (salad) cause everything else is done in the microwave. Thats not a dig to Wetherspoons they are a huge chain so it is all mass produced off site and delivered in frozen so tip for anyone who goes. Its cheap, its cheery, the staff are friendly just order wisely to get the best eating experience.

waited ages on the food coming ,although the heavy blonde woman who stood at the grill area where plates of food were under the lights waiting to go out stood and chatted to the person behind the counter then walked away leaving the food still there , eventually when it did arrive my lasagne was cold , my partners chipswere cold and his panini overcooked , i complained they took my plate away , when returned lasagne had clearly been put in microwave and salad thrown on the plate , as we sat and watched around us elderly couple sent there macaroni back COLD but yet the woman with the blonde hair carried on yakking and didnt take one plate of food out even though she passed and looked at the hotplate a few times, only person seeming to do any work was the young lad with the limp will deffo not recommend or be back

I go to Wetherspoons for food when I want something cheap and that tastes the same in every branch. Unfortunately the food at this Wetherspoons was pretty bad, the veggie burger was overcooked and the onion rings were incredibly greasy. Would not return.

The family and I visited here today for lunch after a hefty morning of shopping and found it to be a pleasurable experience. The food we ordered was brought out in no time and tasted amazing! I had the steak at a medium rare and it was cooked to perfection so was very happy! However the staff weren't as friendly as other restaurants.. Our sauces were taken away in the middle of our meal for another table but our waitress didn't explain anything, just took it off the table and left. We were also waiting a long while after we finished our meal for our plates to be taken away but apart from that it was definitely worth while.

Came here after a morning of shopping and ready for a sit down and fill up. Ordered a wrap and a toasted sandwich. Sandwich came but on arrival at table they discovered it was the wrong wrap. Waited 15 mins (not long granted but my mum had finished her lunch by the time it came) and another wrong order arrived. Too hungry to return it so down it went. They should concentrate on being good at one thing, and just change it to being a pub. Won't voluntarily go back until I hear some good feedback.

We had arranged to meet friends in Livingston who were on a day trip from Newcastle. As their time was limited we invited them for a light lunch in Wetherspoons. Their first choice was to have soup. Alas they had run out of it . Their second choice was a club sandwich. Alas they had no bread. We felt badly let down as we had raved about this restaurant in the past. We felt that their visit to Livingston was marred by poor service in this restaurant.

35 mins for a soup. Not busy just shambolic. The couple with us waited 35 mins for a soup. We waited the same time for a Panini. This was after complaining. I asked if the chef had gone on holiday. We are busy was the reply. Very little food coming out of the kitchen. Table littered with dirty dishes. This was a favourite of ours, no longer. What is happening with Weatherspoons? Second in a few days that were very poor

Was fairly busy inside, I ordered a tuna baked potato with cheese - they must have forgot I ordered cheese as when it came out, the salad was hot, it's like then had added it on last - then banged the entire thing into a microwave. The salad was floppy and roasting hot, really disappointing. The staff seemed uninterested i their job.

Before leaving Livingston we dropped into to Wetherspoons for breakfast. We both had eggs benedict and a cappuccino coffee. Service was quick and the food was plentiful and great value. The food at any time of day is competitively priced, freshly prepared and good pub grub!! Also great for a pint or bottle of wine after the shopping!!

While visiting my mum in Scotland for Christmas from Australia/ We had been Christmas shopping and my mum, son, sister and me decided to go in to the Almondbank Wetherspoon for their advertised Christmas dinner. When it came out it had cremated sausages and stuffing which had been cooked in old fat it was disgusting everything was dry. Needless to say we left it on our plates. I called the management team and the pub owners and they were not willing to do anything about it as i had not complained on the night. We didn't complain on the night as my sister had been quite ill recently and took a bad turn so we left. I feel very dissappointed with the company and they way they treated overseas visiters. I would not recommend the service here folks try Brucefield Farm crown carveries in Livingston much fresher and cheaper

On the run up to christmas the Christmas dinner has been excellent and i have already had 3 over the past 3 weeks with the likliehood of another tomorrow.

Went today for lunch, was really busy, there were a few tables empty but they were all covered in dirty dishes so we had to clear these to another table ourselves. When ordering our food we were told there was a 25 minute wait for food. To be fair we got our starters in that time, the nachos were dry, needed more cheese, salsa etc although my husband enjoyed his chicken wings. We waited a bit got our mains and when they came they were lukewarm. My pasta had obviously been sitting for a bit as the sauce had a skin and pasta on top was going dry & chewy. Husbands burger was ok but as said, lukewarm. There was only 1 guy serving at the bar taking food & drink orders so there was always quite a wait for drinks. Wouldn't recommend it and in no hurry to go back.

After eating out all week decided to go for a cheap option today. Will not make same mistake again! Queue to order 10 mins fine ordered got drinks back to table. Steak day today so Ordered 2 steaks and 2 glasses of wine for £7.95 each - bargain (so we thought!) After 30 mins - acceptable for steaks food came out but I stood in a 20 min wait for drinks by the time I got back to the table my meal was cold.... However steak ordered medium rare came out far too overcooked more well done and Charcoaled to the exception of burnt - very dry and hard to swallow! Kids meals sausage mash and beans good according to the 6 year old and the 12 year olds macaroni cheese was surprising good she said but looked over microwaved in my opinion. Heard some people saying there salad had been brought out in a hot bowl! and another man stormed off after a 20 minute wait for a pint!. Service fine due to being severely understaffed ( can sympathise with that ) but would not return! Boils down to you get what you pay for!

I visited here as a one off. I'm glad that i did. I had two visitors up to see me and wanted to find somewhere quick to eat.It was pretty simple to order at the bar and was very busy which I thought was a good sign.My friends felt the food was fairly acceptable. They ate burgers and chips. I ate half of the fish and chips only. It was very greasy and bland. ( I do have fairly high standards with food, that said, I am very fair and also look for the hygiene in places as well ).The table and cutlery were clean which i was pleased about. The staff were also helpful so no complaints there. I would be happier to pay a bit more elsewhere and get a better meal. The atmosphere was buzzing and happy though and the drinks were reasonable.

Great quality value food. We visit this place for lunch in the weekends. Wish they had loyalty cards :) .Its not just the drinks but the food is great too.My favs are: Six Beer-battered onion rings, Highland burger- with haggis & the Mexican veggie burger. But above all the food, their desserts mainly the sticky toffee pudding with custard and Ice cream sundae with Belgian waffle, maple-flavour syrup and cream are the best that I have ever tasted in my whole life. Child friendly place and they do have a kids menu.

Went in here a few weeks ago, found some empty seats but the tables needed cleaning, (no big deal as it may have been busy earlier) I duly went to the bar to order our food and was told that there where no peas available ( most items on the menu had peas included) so we where told that we would be served salad with our steak instead!. Then I asked for a cider for myself only to be told that there wasn't any cider available, I had a soft drink instead. The food when it arrived was fine, but a steak on a hot plate served with salad?, the salad would have been fine if the plate hadn't started to cook it.....I got to say that this was the start of the Easter break for schools in this area and they where possibly very busy but they should have known that and ordered correct amounts of stock for this.

This was a first time visit to a Wetherspoons and found it to be adequate for what we wanted. The menu was reasonably varied although there was a heavy leaning towards fried food. Initially, we could not find a cleared table and ended up emptying one for ourselves ( requires a dedicated person to clear tables) There was insufficient staff at the bar to handle the food orders and dispense drinks (There were only two on duty the day we were there). We had a reasonable wait, the restaurant was quite busy. My wife and I ordered the sharing platter and while we found the portions to be perfectly adequate, we did find the food to be a bit heavy due primarily to the traditional batter used - tempura it was not!!! There are two Wetherspoons on opposite sides of the mall - we were in the Bank branch. The other did appear to be equally busy and have the same menu.

Bathgate McDonald's has got to be the worst run branch in West Lothian! They seem to have a new rule that no matter what you order at the drive through, you need to park up. I was the only person at the drive through when I arrived this afternoon and waited 30 mins for 2 cheese burger meals. Same on a previous visit for only a single cheese burger. Its a very poor service to the customers on account of massaging the 'fast food statistics!
