Wentbridge House Hotel in Wakefield

Our wedding day at Wentbridge House was absolutely perfect! The venue itself was stunning both inside and out, creating a beautiful backdrop for our special day. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that everything went smoothly from start to finish. The food was truly outstanding; our guests are still raving about how wonderful it was! A special thank you goes to Chloe for her meticulous arrangements leading up to the big day, and to Karen, who made our wedding day so personal and memorable. Her attention to detail and genuine care helped create an unforgettable experience for us both. All the staff were brilliant, proactive in everything, and incredibly supportive. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate our love! During the planning of our wedding, we visited many of the different rooms in both the original and new parts of the hotel, and they were all immaculate. Our bridal suite on the day was perfect. To all the staff at Wentbridge House, thank you so much for making our day so special! X

We had our wedding reception here in April and I can't recommend the venue enough. Throughout the lead-up Ellie was really knowledgeable and helpful and I felt reassured that everything was being handled behind-the-scenes in preparation for the day. On the day the staff really looked after us and kept the flow of the day on-track, and they couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the evening small-plates. The rooms and included breakfast were also lovely so we would definitely recommend a stay here too. Thank you to all the team at Wentbridge for a perfect day

Wentbridge "Shame" hotel worst place I've ever been, unprofessional management,food is a joke, staff faces look like they've death wish every single minute during their shifts,highly NOT recommended

Great stay here . Rooms, food and service were all great. I particularly enjoyed the draught IPA, nice to have a good draught beer. And the proximity to the A1 makes onward travel the next day very easy.

Recently stayed here as a guest of a wedding that Wentbridge Hotel hosted. I have to say for all the rumours I hear about the place being posh and prestigious, it's not a place that I would personally recommend. Other than the grounds and the outside of the buildings being relatively picturesque, there is not a lot to shout about. The staff are friendly and helpful of course, however the decor is outdated, the dining room chairs are stained and make a bus/train seat more appealing to sit on. In your room there will be what you believe to be considered as complimentary snacks, however this comes at a substantial cost so don't be fooled. The breakfast menu gives plenty of variety however, how a hotel can burn toast is beyond me. Ultimately I'd say this stay was slightly disappointing and I would have seen more benefit staying in a premier inn hotel. The hotel is suitable for couples looking to get away or wanting to stay local for visiting family or friends etc.

Was here for a family wedding. Lovely place beautiful gardens nice rooms. Hope to visit again.

Business stay over with lunch and dinner. Beautiful hotel in well kept grounds and good staff service both on reception and in dining areas. Room was nice and very clean however nights sleep was ruined by banging heating pipes along with creaking floors making continuous sleep almost impossible. All said I would stay again though definitely only in a room in the newer wing of the building and not the main house.

I had the pleasure of staying at Wentbridge House Hotel overnight while attending my niece's wedding, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. The venue itself is simply outstanding, with a charming property within the main house boasting lots of cozy rooms. The staff were incredibly attentive, helpful, and friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. We had guests from both the United States of America and the UK, and everyone had a wonderful time, consistently commenting on the wonderful atmosphere of the place. Karen, the wedding events coordinator, was exceptional in her ability to keep the crowd happy and entertained. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and she even joined in with some of the dancing, truly embodying the spirit of the hotel. The food was nothing short of outstanding, with top-notch quality that left us all impressed. Kudos to the chefs for their culinary expertise. The rooms themselves were comfortable, well-decorated, and provided a peaceful retreat after a night of celebration. Overall, Wentbridge House Hotel is well worth a visit, and if you're considering tying the knot, it's definitely a venue worth considering. From the attentive staff to the excellent food and charming atmosphere, this hotel has everything you need for a memorable stay or event.

We booked a dinner table for 2 beforehand. When we approached the reception, we were asked whether we would need a wine list and we advised we didn’t need one due to my allergy to alcohol. We were put in a small corner table immediately next to a table of four(occupied) whilst all the other tables were free. The guests next to us also looked quite confused as to why we were seated immediately next to them whilst other tables (further away) were guest free. I guess this was due to us not wanting to order any wine (which indicates we probably wouldn’t spend that much and therefore not important enough). It is sad to say that the service was quite disappointing. We had to get up for 3 times to be served. It gave us a feeling that staff were avoiding eye contacts from guests. It also seemed they were busy setting up one table rather than paying attention to what guests (who were already there) needed. It is understandable that they needed to set up one or two table(s) although the restaurant was quite empty with many tables already set up. There was only one table (which was ours) occupied in the entire row. The food was ok. I’d expect they could have been hotter. The menu was quite standard. Just also noting that guests sitting next to us refused to pay service charge probably because they were not really impressed by the service.

Very friendly staff, good food and nice rooms

We had an early celebration for Mother’s Day, we chose the winter afternoon tea. Everything was served fresh and the scones warm. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, coffee was fresh brewed and delicious. The staff were all very friendly and approachable. Thanks and hats off to all the staff.
