I called the shop to query where the order was I was told it was out delivery, I called back 25 minutes later and was told the same, the order was out for delivery. This was not the truth based on the delivery drivers pick up time of my food !!

Had to pick 1 star but it would be 0 shocking service, order placed at 18.48 and arrived at 20.35 Will definitely not be using the welbeck again

Took over an hour longer than quoted when ordering.

By the time I got home chips were stone cold,fish was alright. Disappointed as normally the quality of the food from here is excellent.

Ordered at 6pm. Understandable they are busy. Food arrived at 7.40 and was cold. Curry sauce congealed as it was cold and had to put food in microwave to heat up

Anytime I'm in Kilmarnock late in the afternoon and fancy a chippy tea, the Welbeck is my go to; amiable staff, great quality food at very reasonable prices. Batter on fish; nice and crispy, chips; crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and arent saturated in grease. They use mattessons smoked sausage, always get mine in batter. Chips and curry sauce really tasty. Yet to try the black pudding and haggis. They also serve macaroni, burgers, hot and cold beverages and cakes, if you want a sweet treat. In my opinion, the best chip shop in Ayrshire. Used to be just a takeaway, but since they had refurbished it, you can dine in.

Ordered food just before 6. Delivery time was already quoted as being quite long, however was pushed back twice. Food finally arrived nearly 2 hours after order placed. Thankfully food was of a very good quality. But arriving at 7.45 is way too late.

The most disgusting place ever and they call themselves the best I don't think so

This is the first time trying this chippy as heard so much about it...i got kids fish goujons supper that was really nice & fresh....single sausage was great & a ½ single chicken crispy & it was cooked realy well...the batter is to die for & it only took 20/25 minutes so 👊👏 from me it's realy worth the money trust me 👍

We ordered 2 special fish suppers amongst our order, the chips and other food were absolutely fine however the fish was disgusting. It absolutely stank as soon as we broke into it and it tasted off. Attempted to call restaurant but no answer and just eat weee absolutely zero help! At £10 a supper it is not ideal as both mine and husbands dinners have went in the bin! Will never order from here again.

Very disappointed on this occasion. Food was cold on delivery. Especially with the weather tonight it was clear the food had been lying for some time. Curry sauce was almost set! Sausages were definitely pre heats and chewy!

Not happy about the temperature of the food. Driver had gone to wrong address however I think it wasn’t hot when it left the shop. Very disappointing.

The chips were luke warm not hot the mac and cheese was hot as were the smoked sausages. Toppings on cakes were all melted as they were put in the same bag as the hot food.

Never will I order from here again most of the order went in the bin. Mushy peas had a horrible taste to them chips were not enjoyable and fritters was so so tasted better what a waste of £16.

Driver arrived 2020, gave us wrong order. Our order was already given out. Welbeck phoned 2040 about the mix up. Order was going to be remade. Food arrived 2100.

usually never have a complaint about this place but tonight I fancied a snack. Ordered chips and cheese and some fritters. chips came cold and dry and not even a drop of cheese on them. fritters were okay but also cold.

First time trying this place as our usual was closed. Was absolutely brilliant and might be our new favourite ! The fish was really crispy and the chips were great.

I don’t know why any chippy would think the chips we received were in anyway edible but the pizza & sausages were amazing.

Food was amazing as always, in some places the fritters are still hard in the middle but every time I’ve had them here they’ve been so nice and fluffy

Got a delivery a couple of weeks ago and wasn’t great but decided not to write a review until tried again. So had one tonight and just as bad. Fish seemed dry and the chips were greasy. When the Welbeck reopened a while back it was among the best around, but now it has went downhill quite quickly.

the whole point of a pizza CRUNCH is for the crunch. I don't know how anyone would find it acceptable to send out the chips they did. Mac & cheese was the best out of the almost £23 offer.

was more than grateful for early delivery the fish was probably one of the best bits of cod I've had in ages all the rest of order was lovely n hot great service well worth the money

Best chip shop in Kilmarnock by far. ****edit*** Terrible what i just paid for tonight, i thought the idea of a pizza crunch was focused on 1 word "crunch." Tonight all i got was a soggy mess with batter so soft it came away like peeling sunburnt skin off. It was shocking for the price, the chips weren't any better, soft mushy chips with no flavour. Went downhill from being 1 of the greats to now 1 of the worst. A shame as staff are so polite. But i wont be back now. 😢

Generally quite enjoyable. The fish was delicious however something was wrong with the cakes. We couldn't get the ones we asked for but they provided alternatives that were two chocolate cakes and a carrot cake. It seems like some cleaning solution perhaps got into the cakes or the bowl which they were made but they tasted entirely of soap or cleaning fluid, completely inedible which is a shame. Had to be thrown out.

Haddock and chips were fresh but batter was a bit soggy. The empire biscuit was disgusting. The icing was running everywhere and the biscuit was mushy and disgusting. I won’t be buying from there again.

Overpriced. £19 for scampi supper, smoked sausage supper, 2 pickled onions ( very small) and small bottle irn bru). Chips rubbery and tasteless. ?Reheated. Scampi were all identical sausage-shaped. 'Scampi' also had a dried out rubbery texture with very little taste! Not a good experience and I won't be back there. On a plus note, the girl serving was lovely. Polite and helpful and Trew in a 'free' carrier bag.

This was our first time at The Welbeck and the food was excellent. We phoned in the order but there was still a bit of a wait for our order to be prepared. Also, the waiting within the premises was a bit chaotic with customers strewn around the counter and throughout the dine in area ... 🤔

I haven't been in since it got refurbished. It was dated before. The girl was lovely, who serviced me. It was good.

I've had better...more batter than fish.

The food this time was not as good as its been in the past. We ate in the haggis was at best warm, fish was okay, chips were very good.

Spotlessly clean takeaway/sit-in restaurant, with cheerful and friendly staff. Generous portions of well-cooked fish, chips and mushy peas and at reasonable prices. Overall, good value for money.

My second visit to the Wellbeck, first time was for take away and this afternoon with my other half for a fish tea. Great service and perfect fish and chips. Great value for money.
