Water Margin in North Lincolnshire

Last night I took my 86 year old mum to Water Margin. It was very cold inside, when we were asked if all was ok my mum mentioned it was cold to which she was advised to put a coat on (!) When I said, it is inside and we shouldn't need a coat, the waitress then said- it is England in February so it will be cold! I understand we are all watching heating bills but this was uncomfortable and utterly rude. Two other customers tables heard this to which they were astounded and voiced they wont be back. Neither will we.

Good food/ great attitude/fast delivery/good value for money. Never had any problems with this takeaway.... Delivery drivers have great attitude. Would recommend.

We had a take-away last weekend, the first in ages for obvious reasons, and it was fab, so enjoyed it and will definitely be back again shortly. We had it delivered and it was bang on time, our knives and forks were in our hands ready!!

Very sad news they are closing down but still selling takeaways. We lost count years ago as to how many buffet Sunday Nights we have enjoyed. Our problem as to which to go to on Sunday nights in future sadly is solved but Woksoever in Cottingham will not be shredding tears!!

Just had the best night with my family and friends, amazing food, great service everyone who went enjoyed the meal and special thanks to Pauline who opened the buffet just for us, such great memories being going since I was little, happy to celebrate my sixteenth there definitely going back! Xx

First time we have been since returning from holidays. Glad we booked the place was so busy. The buffet was being delivered by two new faces both on their first night doing so. They were great and soon fell into all that was required of them. We will go again soon!

We had a party of 20 on a Sunday night including 2 gluten free, three pescatarians and one veggie. We ordered the ordinary buffet but those with dietary requirements were served separately. Ricky Cheung surpassed himself in the kitchen. Not only did the buffet contain a wide selection of mouth watering dishes, the special menu was creative and doubly delicious. Tofu with chilli, velvet mushrooms, an absolute plethora of stir fried vegetables, sauced to perfection with gluten free, fish steamed and sauced to perfection. Great night. Great prompt and courteous service

While we were there 2 other customers had missing items. Check your orders when you place them and when they deliver. Totally useless missing food so had to run about a second time.

I am so disappointed that the quality of food has changed. Me and my family have been getting our takeaways from here for well over ten years. I don’t know what’s happened in the past year or so but the food has gone from amazing to not wanting to eat it! (Had bad meal, gave another chance and was as bad as the first, maybe worse!) I’m sorry to say but until something changes and it returns to how the food was before I will not be ordering from here. I heard there was a new chef and it definitely has had an impact on the food (in a bad way unfortunately)

Went there for tea last night got there at 6.30 only one other table in but sevice between courses way way to slow waiting around 30 mins after finishing each course so overall took 2 hrs to complete such a shame really as the food was nice when it did finally arrive. Just needs speeding up a bit it was very chilly in there also

We had to throw out the food we got from here , I wouldn't give it to my dog to eat .it's a waste of money go somewhere else

The water margin is actually rather good and offers a wide range of tasty cuisine and generous sides. It's a good takeaway that often gives free prawn crackers and the spring rolls are very large with a yummy sauce. Worth going to the buffet too on Sunday and Monday.

We visited here last month after having several good meals here. However this particular Saturday evening was shocking, the food was okay but the service was poor so we will give it a miss for a while and see if it improves.

I have just had a very tasteless takeaway from this shop. The place is in need of a serious clean and make over. I looked and looked for the Food Hygiene Certificate but this was not displayed anywhere in the shop. The delivery driver for the home deliveries arrived whilst I was waiting and collected what can only be described as a filthy box which he carried out to his vehicle.

I have been coming here for over 10 years now. Just want to say 'another fantastic meal' . The steamed fish was perfect and the complimentary birthday chopsticks at the end was a very nice touch.

We went to this restaurant to try the Sunday evening buffet, and we were very impressed. There was a very good selection of dishes, and they were kept well topped up by the staff. The food was tasty and of good quality. The restaurant was busy so had a good atmosphere. All rounded off with a dish of ice cream - not bad for £10.50 each! The only downside was that the restaurant was very warm and stuffy. We would definitely return.

Recomiendo las costillas a la miel, porque están con mucha carne y delicioso. También ofrece uno de los chow he tenido mejor meins desde un restaurante chino. El servicio es bueno, nos dieron galletas de cortesía de gambas y el personal es amable. Los platos parece sabroso (que he probado hasta ahora) y de precio razonable, en torno a la marca de 5/6 libra. A CENAR para dos era sólo una sombra más de £20, y era para muchos platos.

Well I wasn't impressed at all having a meal from there.i paid £16.80 for ribs what tasted foul,chicken balls which was re-fried I don't know how many times,the chicken was tiny and rubbery and the balls was like donuts! My egg fried rice was mushy and my chips didn't look cooked and when I rang to complain the boss was rude and shouting at me "what do u want me to do about it" and the chips was cooked for the third time! I was shocked,and prawn crackers tasted like they had been left out for a while,soft and tasteless.safe to say I will never go back there!

Además de ser ordinario para llevar agua del margen awayers vamos al menos mensual para el buffet de la noche del domingo, que nunca deja de nuestras expectativas. A partir de las 07.15 horas con platos siendo constantemente lleno uno nunca sufre de nada. Para terminar el helado es un toque agradable y la china té si bien vale la pena.

Ok drinks are expensive but personally this restaurant never fails to deliver on good quality food. Service is never bad decor is defo1980's however like I said don't judge a book by its cover easily worth a visit.

Ricki prepared a superb banquet on Friday week. The meal surpassed expectations. The room was decorated beautifully and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Staff were excellent. Thanks. This is a superb restaurant available locally - a great asset to Barton.

Very friendly with excellent food. We have eaten here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. Pauline the owner goes out of her way to make sure your experience is enjoyable.

We had the set menu which they allowed us to make some changes to suit the group food was of a very high standard starters where crispy and fresh ribs where melt in your mouth nice touch with the second starter of duck pancakes and the mains where very tasty service from the staf was also of a high standard

I have not been to the Water Margin for quite a while because the last time I went, it was mediocre. This time the meal was fantastic! They have really upped their game and I would recommend this restaurant in a blink. It's a pity it isn't busier. Food, service and price exceptional. Thank you.

Takeaways are our norm at least once a week although we do enjoy a sit down every now and then. Like many local restaurants the new year can be slow for them and an early visit last weekturned out to be exceptional. We both chose the usual things especially the chicken and corn soup which cannot be beaten. Service was superb and the owners came out to say hello which was nice. The china tea they serve is a must even though alcoholic drinks could have been chosen especially as we walked from home!Again and again will be the order of our day.

We have been for the all you can eat menu a few times. The place itself is comfortable and friendly however the food is a bit repetitive. I long for some fresh vegetables but nothing seems very fresh at all really

We went here as a big birthday party of about 25 people on a Sunday night. The food which was on offer was quite tasty although there was not a massive choice of different foods (probably about 15 different foods). I enjoyed the chicken satay skewers and the sweet and sour chicken was also good. The staff struggled to keep up with the drinks I ordered so I was waiting for a rather long time to receive my drink. I was drinking vodka and coke but it was rather weak as the shots were only 25ml whereas at the majority of places I have been they would be 35ml. The coke was tasty as it was served in the glass bottles which I really like. The food that I had was pretty tasty and we also had some ice cream for dessert which was nice. I think if I were to go again I would probably prefer to pick something off the main menu.

We hadn't been to the Water Margin for a few years but were delighted we returned. The decor is dated but the premises were very clean. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We'd booked a table for 7:30pm and stayed for two hours, I was amazed that during this time there was only one other couple dining there.We ordered banquet option C which was £20.50p a head. For this we each had a mixed starter, five selections, which were piping hot and delicious, followed by crispy aromatic duck and pancakes, very tasty, and four main dishes and a large bowl of special fried rice, followed by coffee or tea.The main courses, shredded beef in black bean sauce, chicken with ginger and spring onions, duck and plum sauce and prawns in sweet chilli sauce,were piping hot and very flavoursome.We had a nice bottle of Chardonnay, £12.75p..So altogether the bill was £53.75 and worth every penny. We're both big eaters but couldn't finish all the mains so the staff packaged up the leftovers for us to take home.I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of food and the service given. We'll be returning on a monthly basis.My only disappointment was that the place was so empty, with such good food it should have been packed.

Visited here for a late birthday meal back in May, it's a well located place right in the middle of everything and next door to one of the busiest pubs in Barton. Good was amazing even better than the take away came quite quickly and the waitresses were lovely. Really reasonably priced would certainly recommend!

We have used the restaurant buffet night a few times and its always a case of deja vu its always the same food and pot luck at the best of times as nothing is labelled. There are hardly many dishes to choose from other than the generic Chinese dishes nothing worth getting excited about. The decor is extremely outdated with paper table cloths! The lighting is very dark that after walking away from the buffet section your left blindedd and cant see! The atmosphere is terrible staff are unfriendly ans rather sour and dont look like they enjoy working there at all. The lady owner doesn't look like she knows how to crack a smile can be quite rude and uninterested. The price for the quality and quantity of the buffet is not worth wasting your time over far better value buffett within travelling distance and perhaps the owners should think on that. Overall dont expect much from here except disappointment they need to move with the times give the place a good ovethaul and modernisation start again perhaps they may regain some custome

My self and my wife celebrated Alice birthday here about 20 people the food was very good and varied and very Hot The staff were very friendly and Ricki and Pauline really looked after every body we had booked the buffet which was very good value for money

We visited this restaurant last week and it wasn't what I expected at all. We met up for a big family meal for my dads 70th birthday so before we went I looked up the previous reviews on trip advisor. We weren't looking forward to it as the reviews were quite poor. We had a fabulous meal the food was really lovely and the staff were very obliging and helpful as we all ordered a variety in the menu. We couldn't fault it and we will be returning again. Thanks to everyone!

Having visited this restaurant recently with my family I can safely say I was very disappointed. Food was below average, we were the only diners for over half an hour on what you would expect to be a busy evening. (Friday night). When asking to pay, we were given a non itemised bill. How do we know what we are paying for??????? In the end we left with an expensive bill, and had disappointing night. Will not be recommending or returning.

This restaurant serves excellent food but the waitresses are inexperienced, the staff are NOT cheerfull and friendly and the owners are very much the same, this probably explains why there are always plenty of empty tables. If you use the associated Chinese takeaway you will find that the food is not as good as the restaurant and if you decide to have a takeaway late at night you can expect a frosty greeting if it is the Chinese owners serving you. This review follows three experiences and there has been no improvement therefore it will be a last resort if we were to choose this restaurant or even takeaway again.
