Great Lounge Lizards gig there on 18th Feb !

Under new ownership. Went for a Sunday lunch. Had Roast Beef with all the trimmings and finished with Apple Crumble and custard. Servings were excellent. Food was delicious. I would definitely go again.

Great place to watch sport. Screen is large, pub spacious and uncrowded, staff really friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly, good prices, respectful clientele and yummy toasties. Decent pint of guinness too. Thank you for all the doggie treats!

A little hidden gem for those who like Thai food. Very friendly staff who will do everything to make your visit a happy experience. UPDATE. Sadly due to personal circumstances, this lovely establishment will be closing soon. Such a shame.

Rubbish No heat. Staff choose TV. Poor lighting. Echo chamber makes conversation difficult above TV speakers blaring. Had to ask for toilet light to be turned on. Been before had hoped it would of improved . Nope.

Got 2 carry out Sunday dinners today. One beef one pork. Loads of tender meat, roast potatoes were lovely and plenty of them. Served the veg ans mash potato only to realise there was more in other cartons. Definitely recommend. Fab food 👍

Had a Thai meal for 9 of us last night. Food all arrived together. Beautifully cooked and so yummy. I've been here before and the food is always good which is, why I chose it for my birthday. I have no idea why it gets overlooked given there are English choices too.and Sunday lunch. Maybe because it's slightly out of town and the building is a dated pub tupe construction. Anyway... Look beyond appearances and give youself a treat. Thankyou again for looking after us and a lush meal xxx

Went for sunday lunch the best I have had in a long time beef was lovely and tender the amount would of served 2 people the roast potatoes and vegetables were cooked just right my husband's pork was also lovely

Although the restaurant was extremely quiet there was still a nice atmosphere. The service was very good and the food excellent, good value for money.

The food is incredible, proper Thai food and great service too. The lasses that run it are so lovely and work very hard and overall have no faults in the service or the pub.

Visited The Wansbeck for a evening meal with a group of family members and once again it was excellent, the food is lovely very good value for money very tasty, excellent service and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. Won't be long before we return again. 5 star.

Food was horendous waiting for our large pre booked table to be set after we all arrived was not impressed and wont be going back.

Decided to try the Thai food at the Wansbeck as we had been dying to try it for ages so went with mum and dad as they also wanted to try it. Service was slow to start with ,with us all having to wait for drinks but later when we had the meals it was ok. The food was delicious and very well presented and the staff were excellent would definitely go back for food

We went to the Wansbeck for the first time last week for our midweek tea. Food was excellent- we all chose Thai food but there was a selection of pub classics available if you are dining with a group who don’t all want Thai food. It was all fresh and tasty. My son’s main meal was very spicy, which he enjoyed- if you’re not good with spice I’m sure they would be able to advise you what to have / avoid. I had a stir fry with cashews which was delicious. We had two starters, four main meals and drinks and the bill was £60 which I thought was very reasonable. The restaurant area was quite quiet mid week but that made for a pleasant and relaxing experience. Will definitely be back.

We often come here, the Thai food is excellent! Friendly staff and great service. Can eat in the restaurant or bar area. It has on-site parking with an outdoor area to enjoy drinks in the sun.

We had been invited to the Wansbeck for a family meal, we both had a lovely Thai meal the service and food was good would recommend it.

Had a table booked for four to try the Thai food. We all ordered our food, mine was Thai chicken. I was the last one to get my order and when it arrived it was beef not chicken. When I spoke to the service staff they offered to charge it, but as my friends already had theirs it would have meant their food going cold. On top of this the beef was over cooked and tough. We also had to wait almost half an hour for our bill. For what we paid and the food for allegedly being authentic Thai was very poor. First time.last time. Maureen

This is our second visit to the Wansbeck to enjoy their Thai food and to be perfectly honest the food and service was outstanding. The presentation of each dish is first class and the taste is wonderful. They also serve a good pint of TT Landlord however it would be good if you could get a pint of any Thai banded beer. The price wouldn’t break the bank either, a delight and we are already planning to return with friends.

Sundays dinners always lovely and the staff are always polite reasonable prices would recommend!

Called in on Sunday for lunch and were quickly found a table by very helpful staff ordered two Sunday lunches and these arrived hot and more than plentiful helpings of everything great dinner helpful staff recommend this for lunch you'll not be disappointed will be back

The wait for food was over an hour for mains. There was another table who got their mains and starters before we had ours and ordered long after us. The potatoes were raw and they ran out of mushrooms but didn’t tell us until I asked why they weren’t on our plate. Understaffed ( 2 on the floor, one of which was new.) There were only 3 others in the restaurant but we were told they had lots of take away and bar food. That being said the lady serving us was friendly. And the rest of the food. - I had the steak was good. Didn’t stay for deserts as we didn’t have the time. The lady apologised for the wrong doings and gave us money off the bill. We will be back as the other reviews look good and I’m sure they were just having a bad night.

Went with the family for a meal and the food was really good, tons of flavor and the right amount of heat, side of egg fried rice and real chips non of those oven fries nonsense well worth a visit

Just been in here for Sunday lunch. Great portions we went for 3 courses. Best course had to be the pork dinner main. Pork was melt in the mouth. Came with yorkshire pud stuffing crackling and loads of perfectly cooked veg. New favorite place.

Excellent food again. Had prawn Penang. Pad Thai noodles and Thai salad. Superb food and excellent service. Highly recommend this place.

Booked table tonight for a catch up with family and we had a great night!!! Both the English and the Thai food we chose from the menu were excellent, well presented and packed full of flavour! Puddings were delicious too and we will def be back soon! Great little find thank you:)

Family run pub/restaurant... really loved visiting..the food was clean.. affordable.. and tasty... the owners came and spoke to us which was a really nice touch... well worth the visit..

I treated my elderly Mum to Sunday lunch at The Wansbeck. The chicken soup starter I had was excellent, no cream in it to spoil the taste of the chicken, with plenty of chicken pieces.I had a large roast chicken dinner with three roasties, lots of mash, a Yorkshire pudding, sage and onion stuffing with carrots, peas and cabbage served separately.A nice thick gravy completed the satisfying meal.My Mum had a smaller Sunday lunch with lamb. She enjoyed her meal so much she has been trying to convince her friends to try The Wansbeck for food ever since.The service was friendly attentive, but not overly so.Just like Arnie, 'I'll be back'

To be honest i wasn't expecting great things, Thai food in a little pub in a housing estate. How wrong was i,I loved it ,much better than most thai restaurants I've been to. My friend who I was with has spent time in Thailand said it was very authentic. The price is very good 2 large glasses of wine ,two mains and a side to share all for under £30 .great value

Don't be put off by the 1970's estate pub exterior. The Wanbeck was taken over by a Thai family about 2 years ago and recently extensively refurbished. The Thai food is to die for. There is also an extensive standard pub grub menu as well as cheap lunch time deals ( 2 meals for £10). If you haven't been to the Wansbeck in the last few years then give it a try.

Attended Wansbevk with family for Sunday lunch. First contact with waitress who rudely told my daughter that her twin girls aged 2 could drink their own juice. My daughter explained they were only toddlers and only drink certsin juice , waitress responded well I will let them have it this time but not in the future. This should have set alarm bells but we persisted. As a part of 8 inc 2 toddlers one of the party was a vegetarian and the menu clearly stated. Vegetarian Sunday lunch option . The meals came which honestly were dreadful - the vegetarian option was merely a plate of vegetables!! When we asked what the vegetarian option was and where the shorn or nut toast was we were told there isn't any but we are working on it! So they charged the same as a meat dish !The device was totally beyond belief - no smiles or hiw can we help ur everything ok just sullen rude staff.The food was as stated woeful for which we complained and were met with oh.Thus is a dirty e char for an establishment seving food - absolutely disgusting will not return and will advise against anyone visiting .

Really nice pub, good choice of beer, 2 pool tables and the best Thai food I've had 10/10 highly recommended it for a takeaway after a few drinks.

The Wansbeck, does have a very inviting atmosphere and the most helpful and polite waitresses. Always loved Thai food but this is my favourite Thai place in Newcastle and Morpeth area. Congratulations and well done to the owners for the renovation and for people who work there !!! I will definitely visit again soon and highly recommend it.

The Wansbeck has been refurbished and is very bright and fresh, tasteful decor and a pleasant atmosphere. My friend and I each had a Thai meal, there was a good selection, very tasty and generous portions. We also had a bottle of the house white wine and a coffee and the bill came to about £33 which we felt was good value.The staff were pleasant and efficient and made us feel welcome.This is a great place if you want a change from the usual pub fare or pizza and pasta.As other people have said in reviews, it did take ages to pay the bill.We will be back!

We booked to come here for Father's Day as it offers the choice of a roast and also Thai food. So hubby was happy with the Thai, I was very happy with the roast beef. Lovely friendly staff. The place has recently been refurbished as mentioned so it's nice and fresh inside. We really enjoyed our food. The only thing I would mention is there was only the choice of one meat Thai dish on a Sunday, but that was delicious . We will be back again.

We went to see what this place was like due to the good reviews I had heard and was pleasantly surprised. We got a warm welcome from the staff recently refurbished very nice.Al the courses that we ordered were very presentable and tasty good portions and very reasonably priced, I would highly recommend this place and will, certainly visit again.

Service good, food good. Unique mixture of classic thai cuisine and regular British pub food. Took while to pay the bill. Not too expensive either £40 for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine and 2 lemonades.

The newly re-furnished Wansbeck looks fresh, and served the same delicious food. Free prawn crackers went down a treat and the Thai curries we ate were delicious. We asked for them to be made milder as they can be spicy and they obliged. Washed down with wine, the overall bill was as cheap as chips! We’ll be back.

A friend recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. The food is amazing! Proper Thai food it's really lovely. It's also had a refurbishment so it's more modern, it's looks much better! There's pool tables in the other side to the restaurant if you fancy a game after your meal. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Visited the Wansbeck again after its recent refurbishment. Food was great as ever , but because of a large party of ladies taking up the middle of the restaurant we had to wait over an hour for our main course. However as we were in no rush it didn't matter , but thought a free drink for waiting would not have gone amiss. I have tried most of the Thai main course meals and have found them to be of great taste and quality. Will be going again very soon.

Visited Wansbeck Pub after its recent refurb, not disappointed. Had Pad Thai, delicious. Husband had a sizzling platter which he also said was delicious. Very reasonably priced for a lovely meal.

my wife and I visited for lunch today. We were interested in seeing the new decor and menu. We are pleased to report our delight that we now have a great local where we can get well prepared food most of every day, This establishment deserves to succeed as the new proprietors have tried so hard to get it right. In our opinion they have got it right and we will certainly be regular customers-well done

Scratch were fab as usual ..the wansbeck looks great for the most part (toilet needs finishing ) ..bar staff need be a bit more efficient and stop measuring out the tonic water in the gin and tonics ? Weird ?

Really Sorry for this late review, a little confusion in the family as to who was supposed to do the review has caused our delay.Many Thanks to Sam and Family for Looking after us so well, Our whole Family thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our Christmas lunch, from fantastic welcome drinks and starters right through to deserts and cheeseboards, the main courses were truly fantastic and cooked to perfection.The service we received was second to none, we felt so welcome and valued throughout the day.As well as being so enjoyable we felt the the value for money was excellent too, please give us a call as soon as the menu for Christmas 2018 is available.Many thanks to all.Alan and Family.

It’s been many years since we last visited the Wansbeck but after reading a TA review about the Thai food that was now being served a visit was a must. We called in on a Thursday night and the lounge was nice and quiet with only a few tables occupied, the way we like it. I was glad to see that the Tiffany skylight was still there and the place looked warm and comfortable. We both had Thai starters (Fish cakes & Satay sticks) and Thai main courses although the menu was well balanced with more traditional Northumbrian fayre for the less adventurous. They still serve a good pint of draught but alas no Flowers.Overall we had a good and enjoyable meal and would highly recommend the Wansbeck for any occasion.

We visit the wansbeck for sunday dinner which is always very tasty but tonight went for Thai food and can not fault it. The staff are very friendly and the food device! Would recommend.

We had the Sunday lunch option. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food however was really poor, heated up frozen veg, crinkled carrots, diced swede? etc with mash. You couldn't tell what you were eating because it all pretty much tasted the same, and very bland. It was just really terrible, just like a really, really, bad school dinner, or a cheap old peoples home meals on wheels frozen dish.Wouldn't go again.

An early evening out with friends and I can definitely say its worth a visit. I had the Bangkok beef followed by pangang prawns, absolutely delicious. Service was great and couldn't fault anything. Yes the place is a mashup of Thai and British and a little dated, but very much a place I'd go back to.

We'd heard really good whispers about the Thai food at The Wansbeck, so decided to give it a try. Don't be put off by the outside or the inside, as another reviewer states it is due a refurb. My full marks goes solely to the food ... it is amazing.We gave the Thai food; Bangkok Beef starter, Penang Chicken Curry, King Prawn & Asparagus and king prawn Pad Thai ... and it was fabulous. We really couldn't decide which was the best out of the lot. It was just authentic, fresh, beautifully tasty and we will really have to go back and back to try all the Thai dishes. The pickled vegetables with the starter were superb.The great service by the two lovely staff made the meal and experience all the more enjoyable, we went on a Monday evening, and it was quiet but that mattered not a jot.If you enjoy Thai food then make a bee line for The Wansbeck and sample their menu, you will not be disappointed. The portion sizes are perfect for me, but not my partner [he is a big eater] hence us ordering 3 mains, but I am glad we did as it gave us the opportunity to sample more great great food.Yes I can highly recommend going, and YES we will definitely be back.

You had a choice of a normal Sunday lunch or a small, I had the small and I had Lamb, it came with mash potatoes, roast potatoes, a large Yorkshire pudding and the vegetables were served on the side as was the gravy. The veg was carrots, cauliflower and swede. For a small portion there was plenty and I liked the gravy served separately as you could have as much or as little as you wanted. My friend had a small roast beef. The meat both lamb and beef was tender and moist, the veg was cooked to perfection and the gravy was mouth watering. I then finished with rhubarb crumble with ice cream, it was lovely, the rhubarb was just sweet and tart, lovely, my friend finished with an ice cream Sunday, wow, that look and tasted excellent. There was plenty too eat and so satisfying. I would definitely recommend a Sunday lunch there.

This was our first time at the Wansbeck and we were both pleasantly surprised, the menu had both Thai and English food to choose from. We both went for the Thai option, it was excellent, very authentic, as good as anything I've had in Thailand. Don't be put off by the restaurant being in pub, I understand that they will shortly be undergoing a refurbishment

Just been this evening as we live locally and wanted to try it out. Enjoyed our meal and drinks. Very quiet in restaurant, but it was early evening. The gentle background music did not interfere with conversation. Staff very pleasant, prices very fair, we will be happy to take visitors there in future. Looks especially good value for lunch, served til 6pm. Thank you.

I was so impressed with the quality of the food here. What lovely staff and chef. Mother and daughter. Made to feel so welcome. I got Tom yung soup which was the best ice tasted then my panang curry came on a sizzler plate which is always exciting. It wasn't as saucy as a result but was so tasty.Staff were so accommodating off my poorly toddler nephew as well. I was so pleasantly surprised by this place and the quality of the food. I will definitely be returning.

Visited after 4pm following a walk. We both had the roast lamb for lunch which was very good.and for the price it was excellent value. It is the third occasion I have had a meal at the Wansbeck since the new tenants took over and have not been disappointed with the service and quality

Very good service .tried the Thai section of the menu and it was very good and not expensive. Wine list is reasonably priced but I had one of the real ale choices.

We hadn't visited the Wansbeck for years, but since it has recently had a bit of a revamp on the outside, we decided to give it another go and were very pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly and the food was really good. The menu consisted of traditional pub fare as well as Thai food. In our party we had two vegetarians and there was plenty to choose from for them. The meals were freshly prepared, beautifully presented and quite delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal and their desserts, so we will be back.

We live across the road from this pub and it has now become a place where we entertain our friends when I'm feeling too lazy to cook! The food is authentic.... Whether it's British or Thai. The ales and craft beers are excellent and Sal and her daughters make it all worthwhile. I would recommend Wansbeck for lunch or dinner any day of the week!! A refreshing change from the Wansbeck we knew....a new look and a new beginning!!! Three cheers!!!!!

Went to the Wansbeck and had lunch, I had Thai Chicken Red Curry with Jasmine Rice, there was plenty and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Their Thai dishes are authentic and excellent tasting. I will definitely go again.

Purchased a takeaway " great good" Phad Thai was one of the best I've tasted! Being used to the regular Thai my partner preferred their food,But I must say the wansbeck is traditional Thai! Mmmmmmmh

Lovely visit tonight due to a friend highly recommending this restaurant. We could not fault anything. And would 100% advise people to visit. Wonderful ladies who made us so welcome and made sure we had everything we wanted. Thank you and will be back soon.

My girlfriend and I visited this pub yesterday for lunch, as we had been meaning to try it for a while, after driving past it before. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the very friendly proprietor at the bar, who served me a very nice pint of Doom Bar ale! The bar is well stocked, has two real ales on, which is always good to see, and a variety of lagers, ciders, wine etc.The pub itself is very big inside. It looks as though it hasn't been updated in quite some time, and could do with a modern refurbishment to bring it into 2016, but it certainly is clean and tidy! There are several pool tables in a separate area as well, which might give you some indication of how big the place is. We came here for lunch, and were just expecting your typical British pub menu, however there was quite an extensive Thai 'sub-menu' within it. This makes sense as the lovely lady who runs it, as well as the chef are both Thai. We both ordered Thai starters and main courses. The food was very nice indeed, served in good time, and was washed down with some very nice ale, and my girlfriend's favourite Kopparberg cider. My girlfriend and I knew of quite a few pubs when we lived in London that had Thai food menus, but this is the first one we have come across in my native Morpeth, and were very pleased to have found it.Thanks to Sam, the manager for making a very enjoyable afternoon out for lunch in Morpeth!

We used to visit The Wansbeck frequently for a mixed grill which was always superb and excellent value for money, the Wansbeck has recently changed hands and has now introduced a range of Thai food to its menu.On our first visit we met the chef/proprieter Sam a Thai lady who produces very authentic dishes.Our starters were spring rolls freshly made and nice and crispy and a mouthwatering Tom Yum Goong hot, spicy, full of flavour and huge prawns, delicious.Main courses were Pad Thai, again tasty and full of huge prawns, my beef massaman curry was full of tender chunks of beef (no fat or chewy bits to be seen) and soft potato chunks again delicious.Returning tonight as testiment to our review, mouth already watering in anticipation.
