Walton Fish Bar in Stafford

Absolutely disgusting!! Chips soggy with grease and dark brown, obviously last nights warmed up, not edible!! Battered sausage was dripping with oil, as with the chips the bin has been fed!! Never again!! The two staff working were more interested in chatting to the blokes! It lives up to name ' one star baz's grease emporium ' 🤢

What a shambles, staff (some) don't know what they are doing can't remember order totally hilarious observation, cash only! Hmrc !! Packed with customers, talking over each other organised !! Never. Would I return? Defo no no some 100 meters better fish and chips in town centre.

I just think that it's the best chippy I have ever been to... We go about once a month and are never disappointed... Great choice and ample portion sizes...

Sadly we both agreed that this was the worst fish and chips I can remember eating in a long time. Although it is local it is not the normal shop that we would use. Both the fish and chips were really dry although the fish was cooked freshly, it was overcooked. We will not be returning and would recommend others to use the Chip shop in Trentham. Also above air conditioning units need wiping as they are really dirty

Best breaded Haddock I’ve tasted south of the border. Couple of big spoonfulls of Tartare Sauce and it’s a banquet.

Car park can be busy. Never had a bad chippy dinner from here. Drive to Walton when visiting family rather than use their local chippy as the quality here is excellent. Never had a bad meal. Freshly cooked Fish and chips but the short wait is worth it

We come here often. Now sometimes you're fortunate and get a really nice delicious fish that has just been cooked to excellency, then other times you get a dried up, bland, and chewy fish as if it's been lying on a sandy beach for several years beforehand. That said the staff here are always always pleasant, so would come back and hope that I'll get a good catch

No option to use cards. In todays society, Really? Charged £10.60 for 2 pies, chips and Peas. Rip off, considering the mushy peas are grey, pies are microwaved and stored in the display heater as they have no texture. Really poor. Won't be visiting again, hopefully the sandwich shop/ butchers next door will open for longer.

Staff always very helpful & Friendly, Covid restrictions adhered to in the shop. food was brilliant and always generous portions. Cannot fault them :-)

Went tonight, no queue no one in the chip shop. My husband walked in to be ignored. One girl eating her own chips the others talking to each other. Finally got served. Fish was disgusting dry over cooked and tasted old. The only saving grace was the chips which were very nice.Its the type of place that if your a regular and your face fits you get served first and better fish.Time to try another chippy, I hear old road chippy is very good, and I know catch of the day at Trentham are very good.

We have lived in the area for 36 years, for some odd reason this is our first visit to Walton Fish Bar. Can honestly say that their fish and chips ranks with the best we have ever had; including the East Coast where we originate from!

An excellent chippy. Good quality fish and pies at reasonable prices. The quantity of chips they serve is very generous. There is sometimes a lengthy queue, particularly at the moment with the COVID precautions, but worth the wait.

Most impressed. They're taking Covid precautions seriously, so felt safe. Ordering was easy, menu is clearly displayed and service both friendly and fast.Most impressed when I got home and opened my package. Called in for a fish in breadcrumbs. Cooked to order- was the best fish I have had in a long time- Beautifully Fresh and very very tasty. I recommend this fish bar - excellent service lovely food.

Just had fish & chips tonight the batter on the fish was like concrete and the chips all soggy this is not there normal standard very disappointed

Big portions for reasonable prices. I had the cod which tasted good, my relative did say that his fish was a little dry.

Visited yesterday, food excellent and piping hot. Staff and customers well protected during the current crisis. Would definitely recommend.

It is one of a handful of places that does not use long life / hydrogenated cooking oil which is a known allergen. The time that we go there is always a queue consequently everything is freshly cooked and piping hot when we get home.

This place is almost always busy, with people queuing out of the door at peak times so the staff do their best to keep on top of the orders coming in but it's understandable that mistakes can happen, either with the individual orders being prepared or with the order that customers are served in, especially as people have to stand back and wait for some items.Unfortunately the boss (and I'm guessing owner) has zero patience and understanding so has a constand scowl on his face and is quick to loudly berate the staff in front of customers, like factory manager from a bygone era.There's no need for this kind of attitude and it seems unlikely that he's paying them a great deal to be abused and humiliated like this.It's a shame because I have no issues with the food but I'll think twice about handing more money over, knowing it will go to such an unpleasant character

use this place regular on this occasion chips were tasteless and cold had gravy when we got home it was all spilt out top not on correctly very disappointed

Absolute shamble! Ordered a large cod upon arrival, which took 25-30 min. to prepare. During the wait a large queue formed waiting for cod, other customers did turn up and order non fish items who were served with priority which is perfectly understandable. However, when the cod was ready the staff were more concerned giving priority to customers who had not yet paid or ordered over those waiting the longest (Who had already paid) for the cod! Not even n apology for the wait. To top it off the food was overpriced and not that great

Walton Fish Bar as quality produce and outstandig service, highly recommended! Easy parking at the front and variety of things to choose as well as the fish and chips.

Food was hot and pretty nice. I told my order to a gent in there (three times) but it was wrong and when I asked the dark haired woman she gave a dirty look and just took the fish off and replaced with a suasage as we had asked. Was probably a good idea that no one had a fish allergy as she hadnt changed anything else. She was a bit rude, and my sister said she was scowling. It was nice, but overall customer service recieved on our visit wasnt great.

this is one of the best fish and chip shops in the area i travel 6 miles each way to have my haddock and chips almost every Friday long queues but staff soon have you served

had fish and chips they were delicious salad kebabs very tasty staff pleasant and not to expensive on most items

Improvements can always be made though. Firstly, perhaps the interior and exterior can be refurbished. The fish and chips are too dear for what they are worth.

I frequently visit Walton Fish Bar for Friday night chippy and they never disappoint. Tasty food, piping hot and something for everyone. Friendly staff and reasonable prices!

Visited on a busy Friday evening so there was quite a queue but fast friendly service soon had customers in and out The quality of the fish and chips was excellent and hugely enjoyed

Don't go here very often but always been acceptable parking can be a problem and always lots of kids hanging around outside by the cars so ensure you lock yours

I have gone here all my life and eaten from lots of different places but this place is the best.I highly recommend this restaurant for fish and chips it is great.my mums from the sea side and she says it’s the best chip shop in the world.

Cannot believe the bad comment about this fish and chip shop I always thought chip shop we had in Stafford was the best but this one is far better, chips have lovely

What can I say, Dave you and the team as usual food perfectly cooked and fresh. Mum fish was huge but tasty and my kebab was superb. Great value for money and wonder caring staff. Georgina

I visited here this week as I'd heard it was best around stone , however this was not the case the chips were undercooked and they were smothered it gravy that neither looked or tasted great at all the gravy was that thick it made me and friends heave I would definitely not recommend it

We were staying at the m6 Stafford north travelodge and this was the nearest chippy food was very nice good portions had fish chips and curry kids had sausage supper and nuggets all were good and good prices too went back the second night for chips to go with the Chinese again portions were more than enough would definitely visit again if in the area

The fish and chips most of the time are very delicious and the proportion sizes are good, but a cone of chips does not come in a cone.

Genuinely speaking, the best f&c; anywhere. I live in France - no fish & chips. Visiting Stone & the Walton fish bar is always a delight. Try the cod fried in flour, no batter. It's a heavenly experience!! 5***** is not enough!!!

I went there a while ago and the woman serving was extremely rude. The cod was gray and tasted like they needed to change the oil. I've stop going there because of the rude woman and now go to Priory Road or Stonefield because there much cheaper and nicer.

We have been using the Walton Fish Bar for years. The quality is as high as ever, and the portions very generous indeed. Can't recommend this 'chippie' more highly.

Great value, bought a small fish, chips ad mushy peas for £4.90 and it was massive and tasty. Batter was great and chips were gorgeous.

always fresh....good staff....and the right price. Even a small fish will feed two adults........only get a small portion of chips though, because a large portion would feed six of you.

Called in for tea, late afternoon. The chips were like cardboard, either been standing for hours in the hopper or reheats from earlier. The battered stuff was ok.

I have just left Walton Fish Bar in Stone with no dinner for the family after receiving the most appalling customer service! As I entered the shop, a couple of customers were waiting so I stood in line. One of the customers smiled and explained they had been served and were waiting on their orders. I proceeded to counter where the lady serving didn't even acknowledge my presence then proceeded to serve a gentleman who had entered shop after me. Obviously a regular, as the lady began to strike up a conversation with him! When I explained I was waiting the staff member blatantly ignored me, whilst the gentleman apologised profusely. The staff member said she'd started to ring his order into the till, so she'd continue! No apology was forthcoming from her ... and still no acknowledgement!! I placed my order for small chips, but when I saw the huge portion size I politely asked to change to a cone! Her face was enough... I immediately asked that she cancel my order explaining that her customer service skills left a lot to be desired and I'd prefer to take my business elsewhere. I then quickly left the shop!!

Close to our hotel...needed a change of food....a busy local shop...if locals use it then usually good

If you want high quality Fish and Chips or something from that menu this is the place to go. Hot, well cooked, not greasy and friendly staff.

not a very good chippy i find it very expensive here for what you get staff not very welcoming .so we drive to stafford if we ever wont any think from chippy.

This is our go to place for fish and chips. The price is decent. The staff are courteous and the food is nice. Occasionally they put too much salt on the chips and they could do with better non-stick paper. Overall I'm happy with this place.

We were attracted in by the pleasant aroma of fried fish wafting over the Shell garage forecourt and were not disappointed. The freshly cooked fish glistened on the counter. the batter looked perfectly fried. It tasted as good as it looked and smelt and the chips and peas were also spot on. would return but it's 150 miles from home. If only this place was on my doorstep! But then, I'd probably end up looking like Humpty Dumpty!
