Disgusting food safety, have contracted campylobacter food poisoning since eating a chicken kebab, still suffering over 2 weeks later.

Been before always been good this visit chips sausage all good. Not sure what happened to the fish very undercooked. Hopefully just a one off

The chips from here are always consistently excellent. Very good value cod as well. Not a fan of the kebabs or pies

Me and my husband came in for our regular fish tea. I was shocked how the owner was handling food with hands. Especially one minute getting fish and next sausage’s without gloves or washing. This is a great concern for cross contamination. And also vegetarians. Also. The way the owner shouted at one young male worker. And barged past him. This young lad when bright red as the place was pretty full at the time. No need what so ever to talk to him so vile. I will NOT be coming here again. Ps. If you young lad “Sam “ I think is reading this. I hope you are ok. And don’t let this put you off working. Not all bosses are this rude. Take care.

Long waits for average food, will not cook fresh food half hour before closing. young staff get very confused with orders, just painful really such a shame

Been here 3 times now as pass through the town daily for work. Each time I've had a saveloy and chips. Each time I've been a bit I'll. A few stomach cramps a tad of sickness put everything down to a bug. Till today when I see the old man working the fryer, using his dirty tongues to pull fish out the fryer, to then put in more fish in the fryer and then handle two frozen saveloy with the same hands no hand washing here kids in to a Bain Marie tin in the display shelf with already "warmed up saveloys" food hygiene regulations out the window here folks, no wonder I was I'll the past time eating them. Fully understand they're frozen but microwave to thaw then added with the already ready to eat products? Instead on a shelf with pies and what ever else was on the window at the time. Shocked as it is so so basic cooked and uncooked foods should never ever be together. I walked out at this point and got a meal deal from coop be warned folks. Be very warned. I feel sorry the young server on her own while this manic man handles food with out even washing his hands. Disgusting.

Absolutely disgusting. We stopped using as the food was awful. Decided to give it another try .... BAD mistake. We ordered a small fish for our disabled child as he does not like meat, this was actually a battered sausage, covered in a massive amount of batter. The peas were not even tepid, had to be heated up together with the kebab meat at home, only the chips were okay, our other child's plain sausage was well below temperature. EHO need to be involved. This is actually dangerous practice. Spoke to the manager "The son" over the phone. He offered to refund the difference between the small fish we had ordered and the battered sausage we neither wanted or ordered. Why would I pay for a product not ordered, indeed he will have it served cold on his counter tomorrow. He also requested that I drove 1 mile down the road to return said sausage, then a mile home with small fish. CLEARLY he doesn't understand the concept of a takeaway. I could have Cooked fish and chips, nicer, hotter and for a quarter of the price in the time: I had to cook anyway as one child had no protein and all bar the chips needed to get to a safe temperaturevto way. As a consequence the chips had to be kept warm. It's okay to make a mistake, but this is too many, the attitude was dreadful. Disgusting attitudes. The whole meal should have been refunded, as it was completely ruined and I ended up cooking anyway. We needn't have left home in the first place. If you make a mistake, be polite, be realistic and apologise. Bring your peas up to temperature prior to opening at 5pm, instead of chucking them into the bain Marie too cold; in order that they can be held for longer. Temperature probe your meat. Tap off the batter on you sausage ; instead of lazy frying... then you will know the difference between a fish and a sausage !!! BASIC It's a shame. I really hope someone takes over what could be a great chippy and does a decent job. Right now KEEP WELL AWAY.

Very helpful and cheerful staff. Delicious food also, especially the Cheese and Onion Fry! Chips are perfect, nice and crispy.

First class fish & chip shop. Big menu. Well organised with lots of staff. Even at peak times you are served quickly. Generous portions at fair prices

This chippy used to be very good, not sure what has happened! Given the benefit of the doubt, 3 times in 3 weeks and consistently poor. The cod was grey not white and chunky, the batter was thick and undercooked, the batter was inedible,. Chips were well below average. Sorry you’ve had you’re chances will not be returning.

This is the best fish and chips we’ve ever had, and we’ve sampled a few. The fish is always fresh, never from frozen, and the chips are sweet and delicious. This man knows his stuff and takes pride in his product, and he’s delightfully good natured, both with his customers and his staff. We travel quite a distance to get here and it’s always worth it.

I’ve enjoyed the fish and chips purchased at Eccleshall Fish Bar on the couple of times I’ve visited. The staff are generally pleasant. The fish and chips crispy. There is quite a varied menu, most of which I have not, as yet, sampled. My only criticism is that there is often a queue!

We come here from Telford each week because there is now no decent chippy here. Eccleshall chippy is always good food and nice friendly staff also. Josh and Rachel always happy and helpful.

I fancied fish and chips and saw this place amongst my many visits to Eccleshall. I had the fish and chips with a saveloy. The fish batter was too heavy, chips were good and saveloy's meat broke up the second you bite into it. Average food at best.

Some of the best chips I have had for ages, and certainly not expensive , it must be good as it was permanently busy ,with locals another place to recommend.

Myself and my colleagues visited on our lunch break and we would’ve just been happy to eat something different from the stuff they served at our hotel for the past 2 weeks. I ordered the hot wings which were literally battered and cooked in front of me and the small meat and chips. I was hugely impressed with the quality of the food, the donor wasn’t overly salty as it is with most shops offering the same and the chicken was succulent with slightly burnt ends on the outside and reminded me of BBQ. The chips were perfectly cooked and hot wings were better than anything I’ve had in London where you’d find a dozen chicken / fish and chip shops on a single high street. My colleagues ordered a variety of things from just fish and chips to battered sausage, fritters and more and not one single complaint! The gentleman who was cooking the food (older and distinguished grey haired) definitely knew what he was doing but the younger lads may produce differing results. My food came up to around £7 and frankly it wasn’t the cheapest but worth it. I really can’t believe that a little chippy in a town Ive never heard of can do this type of food better than all of the places I’ve tried and tested in London.

Fantastic fish, roe, sausages and chips. The grandchildren love the food from here so we go frequently. All cooked to perfection.

Really disappointing, £14 down the drain, the fish was fatty and possibly undercooked, tasted horrible. The cheese pasty, well, microwaved in its wrapper, a soggy mass of something, and the chips were cold. Yuk.

Lovely cooked chips every time. Nice and friendly staff. portions are a bit small but you realise you are full and did not need anymore anyway .

If only they would think to reduce the amount and thickness of the batter on the fish it might be palatable

Eccleshall Fish Bar always has the most amazing fish. It is delivered fresh every day they are open and you really can tell the difference. They will also cook the fish just how you like it. So, if you prefer a thinner batter (like I do) they are more than happy to cook it for you. :-)

After visiting a Merton farm we decided to stop here for something to eat. What a good decision we made. The fish ,curry sauce chips are all excellent. All food very good prices with friendly staff to serve you.would visit again if in the area

We live in Stone, where there are many take away fish & chip venues. I don't rate any of them, if I'm honest, which is why we drive to Eccleshall.The Eccleshall Fish Bar is always clean, staff are really friendly and the car/ house doesn't have that horrid fishy after smell the day after like so many other places. I always have haddock in breadcrumbs and it's faultless, wish you were a bit nearer us!

Lovely chips and gravy and everything... we love to sit in At the bar/table area... though mushy peas have been too watery lately. Perhaps because we tend to come early?

Good value chippy. Portion sizes can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes a bit heavy handed with the salt!!
