Wahaca South Bank Experiment in Lambeth

Came for lunch midweek and chose the festive vegetarian menu. It was brilliant value for money and every single part of it was delicious. Our waiter, Reuben was really lovely and made sure our visit was memorable for all the right reasons. The restaurant has a great vibrant buzz about it and fabulous views over the South Bank. We will definitely return.

Booking the table was easy via their website - booked for 8.45pm. There was nothing stated on the booking that last orders for drinks was 10pm. So we were very surprised when the waiter came to us at 9.50pm and said that they were closing the bar and kitchen! Very bad communication. Why I am giving it 1 star though is that I ordered a vodka as did another person in my group and it was 100% obvious that it was water!!! My husband went up to the bar and told them and he wasnt even questioned, just a response "sorry about that" Absolutely SHOCKING. We spent over £300 and the food was good but the service and the vodka fiasco would tell me to stay away and AVOID. (checked receipt and we were still charged for vodka AKA water!!!!!)

One pleasant Monday☃️😊, we went for a walk👣 through London, with my friend. We like to taste good food😋😋. Today we decided to enter this Mexican restaurant Wahaca Southbank, it is very charming 🌸🌼🌻🌺on the outside, and with a pleasant view. We entered and it was not busy, but we felt good in this place. Polite and clear attention when we ask. We have tried three types of meals. It was fresh, crispy and we liked it a lot, which is why we return and recommend this restaurant. If you love beans like me, avocado, bread (burrito) nachos...go and try. Thank you for doing the work with love💖🙏. Recommended.🙋‍♀️

Our highlight was the best server of Wahaca, Sahbi. What an incredible person. So sweet and kind-hearted. He welcomed us so warmly, recommended dishes, and made us laugh from the heart. We had a lovely chat with him and discovered he knows a lot about Greece. He even spoke many words in our language, which thrilled us. Truly an amazing person. The food was also exceptional. Without meeting Sahbi and having such a complete experience, it wouldn’t have been the same. Sahbi, keep spreading smiles to everyone! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!❤️🙏🏼

What a wonderful experience me and my family had for my brothers 25th birthday. Marily C was the star of the show putting up with my dad’s stories about him having hallucinations in Mexico and having a worm in his Mezcal. She served with love laughter and smiles. A decent meal made special by a lovely host. Me and my family will come back and ask that we get served by Marily C. I hope I dream of those chocolate brownies … Love Leo

This is a fairly loud restaurant, but that's okay if you enjoy a lovely atmosphere which I do. The service is good, if somewhat functional. Food is very tasty. A good choice of drinks, both soft and alcoholic. Men's toilets were quite pongy, so they need to check on the toilets more frequently. Overall a great experience, highly recommended for food and service. Loses one star for the stinky men's loos!

Wahaca is one of the best places to go to if you want to try something different and quirky. The staff tends to you with such great warmth and enthusiasm that you would find yourself visiting this place more often. Tacos and quesadillas must be tried. Cauliflower bites were heavenly.

We arrived without a booking and were greeted by a friendly and welcoming member of staff who showed us to a table straight away. Our waitress, Bruna, was straight over with water and to offer help with the menu if we needed it. We ordered a couple of spicy margaritas which were delicious along with a selection of small plates, out favourite were the plantain tacos although everything was good they really stood out. The only hiccup in our evening was ordering a second round of drinks, when my spicy margarita arrived it visibly had around 3 times the amount of chilli as the first drink and it was undrinkable as it was like liquid fire. Bruna handled it like a pro but it was a busy night and my friend had almost finished her cocktail so I didn’t want to wait on another being made and then rush drinking it. Would I return? Absolutely, we loved the food, atmosphere and the service but I’d be ordering my spicy margarita with stipulations next time.

It always be the place where I love the food and the people and will never be bored out of. A big thanks to Laura C at SouthBank Wahaca for making my birthday so special.

I went there for a team social, and it was a great experience! The waitress who looked after us was amazing (as we were in a big group) and the food was very good as well. I must recommend the mushroom and jalapeño tortillas and the tres leches tiramisu - best dessert ever!

Solid restaurant experience either inside a converted shipping container or outside on the decks. Standard menu for the chain and standard service - generally friendly and well-drilled, but with lapses in delivery, timing and order accuracy (especially if there is a large group in too). No-one’s fault, just means you need to be in a laid back mood when it’s busy. Menu is ok and food is ok. Moments of tastiness but it feels more like a Deliveroo comfort food than the more pioneering feel it once had. So nothing wrong, but no real wow. A solid place for a plate of comfort food, that is no longer a bargain - it’s “London prices” not street food or independent prices. Oh, desserts were mediocre. Overcooked churros that smelled like nachos and overpriced supermarket tiramasu floating in cream.

Fabulous waitress, nice views, reasonably priced. However, walking from table to table asking "Did you order the..." wasn't that endearing. Food came out ad hoc (sides 20mins before mains!) And was Luke warm at best.

Excellent food as always, lovely atmosphere. Our server (name may have been Maria or similar) was great and made us feel very welcome and I was very happy to leave with a really recipe card for the tacos which I will definitely be trying.

Intimate dining at my favourite restaurant that never fails to deliver. We always ask ourselves: how can every course be a winner? This was a special anniversary and we were treated so well by our waiter Sahbi who offered excellent suggestions and was attentive throughout our experience. Year after year Wahaca is still a 5 star experience.

Excellent option to eat in London. The person who helped us was Rubén and he even spoke to us in our language, he was very kind and understanding about our food allergy problems and he looked for a way to listen to us and so that my partner and I could eat safely. Also, I loved that they put a flag on the dishes on the food, specifying whether the food is for someone with or without allergies. The taste of the food was very good, the view and the location. Super recommended :)

Food was great. The staff are always really chilled and make it a nice experience. I am partially sighted and it’s always a bit tough when I can’t see peoples faces so well but you get the feeling the staff are warm and friendly and happy to help.

Tuvimos una cena encantadora en Wahaca antes de asistir a un evento en el Royal Festival Hall. Probamos 5 "platos pequeños" diferentes, bebidas y un postre. La comida era muy sabrosa y disfrutamos del ambiente. El personal era amable y eficiente. Anna, nuestro servidor, era excelente. Tuvimos una noche muy agradable y sin duda volvería. Llegamos alrededor de las 5: 30 pm y tengo una bonita mesa arriba de inmediato. Para cuando salimos a eso de las 6 : 45 pm (un viernes) había una cola en la puerta de la gente esperando una mesa!

Se presentó a un almuerzo familiar de última hora un domingo después de visitar el acuario. Se sentó rápidamente y el servicio y la comida era rápido también. La comida era absolutamente deliciosa y muy fresca. A los niños les encantaba hacer un taco. No puedo esperar para volver.
