Wagamama in Bedford

Wagamama in Bedford has changed management and our experience was smooth and pleasant. The food and drinks came out tasty and delightful!

I love eating at wagamama's, their food is always great. Really enjoyed their new starters and the service is really good.

Chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Tasty food.

Food quality going downhill. Staff generally casual and inattentive. European staff seem to dislike brown diners - especially when alerted to seafood allergies.

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. This wasn’t just terrible service, but more of what seemed to be an episode of Kitchen Nightmares, even though the restaurant was hardly busy. Sent back the chicken ramen the first time, came back the second time with nothing in the dish resembling Japanese cuisine. The broth was basically flavoured water, and the chicken was dry. Every dish arrived at random intervals, To top it all off, we got charged extra for the pleasure of suffering through this mess. I’ll be avoiding this place like the plague. Unless you’re into overpriced disappointment and watery soup, I suggest you do the same!

Food was of amazing taste and quality with a decent portion size. There was a nice variety of food and drinks on the menu, and best of all free green tea and cheap miso soup

Online deliveries are full of single use waste. Full of plastic tuppers instead of bamboo or cardboard. Food is ok. Pricy for being UK Asian food. Not a japanese restaurant. Many veggie and vegan options. Unnecessary cutlery that we didn't ask for it including forks, ramen spoon and even "kids chop sticks. A total water of cardboard and lots of napkins that again we did not ask for it because is a HOME DELIVERY. So good expensive food for vegans but no ecofriendly at all.

I just can believe £8 bao have this amount of beef/duck inside. It is shameful. We are not ordering the bread….

Messed up our collection order. Pretty Much 8/10 times something is missing or wrong

Told there was a wait, but not allowed to sit down at one of the numerous free tables in case anyone should accidentally take our order. Told 10-15mins was more like 20-25. But weren't allowed to leave and return, instead had to wait by the door. Later asked to stand next to the toilet sign as we were near the reception desk. Finally seated. Food was fairly quick, but not freshly prepared. Batter tofu in both pad Thai and firecracker tofu was cold. Got the impression they were overloaded with Just Eat orders.

Fantastic service offered by the staff in this Bedford branch. Me and my partner tend to visit late in the evening to order and take-away (as allergen orders are in-store) and are always greeted very well. The staff make you feel very welcome whilst waiting for food, always offering a seat and beverage. Neither me or my partner have ever experienced such a welcoming atmosphere in any other restaurant.

I was looking forward to dinner at Wagamama. I’ve got fish allergy. I was asked if I could eat chicken that was fried in the same oil as fish. They refused to fry chicken in the clean oil, so unfortunately I did not get my Katsu Curry. If you have allergies, I would not recommend.

Delicious food as always, staff very friendly and attentive, wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

My partner and I have visited a few Wagamamas around the Bedfordshire and MK area, but we always say that the one in Bedford has the best vibe. It's on the river, and a beautiful atmosphere when it's dark at night. Food and service is always good. Would highly recommend going on a weekday evening as it usually isn't too busy, and the atmosphere is generally very calm and hearty.

Great location by the park and river, lovely friendly and helpful staff, delicious food. Clean, fresh toilets, and well equipped. It's definitely worth a visit.

Been couple of years since last visited this establishment, and it has gone down hill. Food was average, service was poor. Shame because last time I came here I really enjoyed the food.

Always disappointed when order from here. Arrives cold and spilt. Most recent delivery tonight was a tiny portion of curry! 4 bits of tofu, hardly any sauce

The best Wagama I've been to and I've been to a few! Our order was taken promptly, served within record time by lovely staff! Oh my goodness! Everything tasted delicious! For starters, the squid, ebi katsu, dumplings; and the mains; Yaki Udon and Chicken Pad Thai with free green tea to finish! Wonderful! I definitely recommend for a scrumptious meal (thank you chefs) with excellent service!

James provided 10/10 service was very patient with us made us feel very welcome and comfortable thank you for a wonderful experience. Will be returning

The food is tasty, but the waiting staff not very attentive. During our visit we had to wait 10mins before we were seated, even though the restaurant wasnt busy, then we had to wait a further 15mins to be served. My wifes food arrived after ours, infact my sons and i had finished our dinner before hers arrived. The food was very nice, but there was a real feeling of workers being unhappy, not really bothered about the customer, kinda get the vibe their too cool to be efficent. Its difficult as the food was good but this restaurant is let down by its staff, its okay to be cool but in time this approach will shut down the restaurant. I think an area manager might have to visit this restaurant un anounce, as if this was my business i would not be happy.

This is a good Wagamamas. Better than the one at Rushden Lakes recently. Never had a bad ie disappointing meal here.

Really enjoyed our visit. Friendly service. I have various intolerances and these were looked after well. Tofu Pad Thai was flavourful and loved the squid starter

A great staple for the area. Wagamamas is pretty reliable wherever you go, but the service here in the Bedford branch was excellent and they accommodate for children really well (including a Great kids menu and colouring in to keep your little ones occupied). You know what to expect with the food, and although Wagamamas can be a little on the spenny side, you know you'll walk out satisfied!

Very dissatisfied. Two dishes ordered from a limited menu plus starter. One dish served, 15 minutes later, still waiting for 2nd dish plus starter. Walked out!!!!! Unable to recommend this restaurant on todays experience. Wasn't particularly busy either.

Ordered a takeaway for 2, including a Ginger Chicken Udon (but without onions). We've ordered this takeaway from Bedford Wagamama many times before and this modification to the Ginger Chicken Udon has always been accommodated without any problems. However, on this occasion, when I got home (5 miles / 20mins drive away) we discovered that as well as no onions, there was... no chicken either! When I called them to report this, I was given the option to either bring it back and they would prepare a fresh one correctly, or I could be refunded the cost of that item. Given the distance and journey time it wasn't convenient for me to drive back into Bedford and return, just for remedying someone else's error, so I chose to have a refund. They said they would investigate and refund me IF they confirmed an error had been made. I have checked my credit card statement and 4 weeks since the incident, I have not been refunded anything... I guess they don't believe me, or the chef at Wagamama is adamant they didn't forget to put any chicken in. Its disappointing to say the least.

Wagamama Bedford: Overall, it was okay. Expensive though. We went for vegetarian options. Food was tasty. Service slow at times. Took my Mum in a wheelchair. Easy access, helpful staff, Manager respectfully opening door for us as we left. Drinks are really expensive, in small glasses and filled with ice. When you remove the ice, there is nothing left to drink.

A great venue with reasonably attentive service and fantastic food. Waggas does not disappoint. As for the food itself, there are a good array of Asian-inspired options with varying strengths and flavours, along with some interesting drinks. The starters and dessert are also top notch. Sorbet, my preference, is here as well. Well worth it.

First time here, food was OK, though I got bored eating it part way. The drinks were, in my view, expensive for a beer - so tap water sufficed. Starter came halfway through the main course.

Visited recently with family Service was extremely poor , the waitress lacked any go , you could barely hear her and had to ask her to repeat herself. Service was slow and tired . I ordered my usual dish , failed to eat it as it was extremely greasy , swimming in oil and tasteless . On recent visits across the UK , I’ve found Wagamama has lost its freshness , it’s vibe , it’s drive on natural fresh punchy flavours - this is such a shame I’m certainly not rushing back to Wagamama for sometime and will not visit my local Bedford again. Location is wonderful overlooking Bedford river - this could be a thriving restaurant

Well Wagamama what can I say, as always the food is top notch with a busy atmosphere and lovely restaurant overlooking the embankment. Only slipping point was service, trying to get the attention of staff to order deserts was almost impossible. They seemed to look away as soon as you tried to catch their eye! Disappointing!

Food is not like it used to be it was bland and without real flavour like I used to remember it I am really disappointed

I love going here. Food is always delicious and served reasonably quickly. Staff are always welcoming and super helpful. Always recommend to anyone.

This restaurant was extremely modern and clean, me and my friend sat down greeted by a lovely, friendly member of staff. We chose to sit inside but they did ask if we wanted to use the outside seating. We both had the Raman chilly, I had it with chicken and my friend had it with steak. Our food came pretty quickly but the restaurant was pretty empty. It was hot and tasted great. They lay out chop sticks for you to use but if you don’t want to use these they have cutlery on the side of the table with the spice’s. The toilets were clean and modern too but the lighting is a bit dim it’s hard to see what your doing.

Long term customer of this restaurant but last couple of visits really disappointing. Food is good as usual and really like the evolving menu, but the service is so poor. Lunchtime today the tables were all but empty and we were offered a table outside. Waiting staff just so slow and generally just chatting in a group at the counter. After two interminable waits for service my wife had to go inside and order what she wanted at the counter rather than waiting any longer for the slow, inattentive and generally disinterested staff. Still food arrived at funereal pace and without as much as a smile. Other diners outside clearly having the same experience, staring hopefully inside the restaurant for service. Won't be back in a hurry. Looks like another chain food business heading for the skids...

Ordered a juice that came half full. The rest of the glass was froth. The glass of the water we ordered was dirty, definitely not cleaned. Ordered pad Thai with chicken and prawns but I received pad Thai with no chicken or prawns. The waiter was nice but extremely poor experience overall.

The location is good the service was adequate and the food was as usual you pay a lot for not a lot. £150 for noodles and rice it's not cheap the starter were probably the highlight of the meal, there you go order the starters there then go to the pizza place around the corner if you want to eat and feel like you've eaten. Next time I'm going to try that. Also it's not really my thing a little too casual as I prefer a well dressed staff and a couple of them seemed to be wearing there going for a walk with the dog clothes. Not how I like to be served. I've eaten far better for less and not had to eat leftovers from the kids plate. Improvements could do with a Maitre d at the door to make sure no undesirables are let in. Part from that the staff were polite if not dressed according and if you're on a diet you'll be fine.

The food was really good, however, the whole service experience was disjointed and haphazard. The atmosphere was crazy, very noisy and the seats were very uncomfortable. We felt squeezed into a small space as we were made to sit shoulder to shoulder. The seats we were on did not move, so if you have a disability or restricted movement they were very hard to access. Based on the service and the seating, I will never go back, however, I would happily order a takeaway.

We came for dinner, and food was fine, nothing to shout home about but was tasty enough, the issue we had was the long wait times for the staff to do seemingly anything, from waiting at the door for 5 min to be seated to watching the 5 members of staff stand around chatting in rhe corner while we waited for our order to be taken. Once taken, food thankfully came fairly quickly and was cooked very well. Once we had finished and our table had been cleared we then waited watching the staff either standing around or seemingly wander back and forth through the restaurant without actually doing anything, it took just shy of 10 minutes for us to get our bill to pay.

Fantastic location next to the river bank in the centre of Bedford. Good tasty standardised food as you should expect in any Wagamama around the country. Unfortunately very slow service even the restaurant was not busy at all. Have to wait very long time for the drinks even after keep asking 2 different waitress. Been a year or so since visiting any Waga, put off by the negative post take over comments. Based on my visit today though all was good. Attentive service for a change (albeit we were early) and lots of vegan options (even if the Vegatsu never has enough sauce). Its not cheap, but as a treat ok.

Father’s Day so it was busy but not full. We know meals don’t turn up together but my husband had finished before mine arrived! Seems to have been a mix up and, to be fair, they didn’t charge for my meal. Seemed short of staff. Disappointed as we are Waga fans!

Never been to a Wagamama's before so today I went in for lunch. I got my food in about 20 mins which was fast though that may be where the problem lies, the food was clearly not fresh. It's sort of the McDonald's of Japanese food it seems. The food isn't bad, standard right in the middle food but the prices are simply too high for prepared food, I would expect fresh for the price and a much better flavour. I can't recommend it because the prices are not worth the quality served, lower prices or make the dishes fresh and tasty instead but right now it's not a place I'd return.

Lovely staff & lovely food , overall definitely worth a visit

Visited late afternoon so it was nice and quiet. The service was very friendly and we were dealt with attentively. Usual grumble with Wagamamas that the food comes out randomly. One of the mains took particularly longer than the others which is irritating not quirky. The food was all excellent, albeit expensive to feed a family of four for just over £100.

Me and the mrs are regulars, food is always banging and the service from Charlotte and Anton tonight was spectacular, running the place between themselves tonight!

Recently visited this amazing restaurant for the first time on 24-04-23. A very warm welcome awaited from our fantastic waitress/manager IULIA, she was attentive and got us a lovely table. The service and attentiveness to our needs was second to none. Drinks came quickly and order swiftly taken. We ordered an enormous amount of food was delivered in a timely and ordered fashion and the desserts followed which were all beautiful. It was my wife’s birthday and all the waiting staff gathered round and made a great Wagamamma choir. A most enjoyable experience. Great venue, great food and a brilliant IULIA. Hair inside the food. AVOID. Ordered the ramen bowl via deliveroo, arrived safely packed but when I got to eating I discovered a dark hair inside of my food. Things can happen so I contacted deliveroo to complain, was told to contact the restaurant which I did and restaurant said to contact deliveroo, both parties said they cannot do anything further and refuse to take the blame. The hair was deep inside of the food so there is no way that it could be drivers fault. Not happy as I paid for the food which I am not going to eat, the hair is completly disgusting, won't be ordering from this location anymore.

I have eaten here quite often but probably won't be back. Food is inconsistent - dishes often taste vastly different each time ordering them. Service has been particularly awful lately; multiple staff saw us waiting at the door for a table but we had to wait for quite a while to be seated, takes a long time for them to take your order, and on multiple occasions I have had to remind them to bring our drinks long after food has arrived. Lastly, a small issue of my own, is that the music and other background noise is usually so loud you can't hear the person across the table from you If you're looking for Japanese food in Bedford support a local business and go to Kazoku which is a five-minute walk from here.

Lovely location on the river and food was tasty BUT the service was awful. We had to get our own cutlery, one main meal arrived 10 minutes late with no communication, explanation or apology from the waiter and we eventually packed our dirty main meal dishes onto the table next door as nobody came to clear. Such a shame as food was yummy but not sure I will be back.

Excellent location on the River, very tasty food.... however, the service was, in a word, appalling! 3 of the most downcast, un- animated faces with not a smile or a friendly word to be had. We were a party of 3, and my pad Thai dish arrived 10 minutes after my friends' did ... the explanation?... apologies, we were attending to a lot of allergy- related dishes. No problem with that, but why didn't our waiter come over to advise me of the delay before I had to ask? Such a pity. I won't be back. Shall rather explore the other eating venues along the river.

Ate here before the cinema. We had 5 starters and 4 mains and all of our dishes were delicious. Ignore the moaners this place has it right. Food - excellent, decor - lovely and all of the staff were brilliant. Even the chefs said thanks and have a good evening. Special mention to Lucy who double checked my sons order as he was the only 1 to order a non vegan meal and also to provide us with lots of green team. Congratulations to the whole team - you were spot on last night. there's always 1 moaner or guest who's expectations are for the Ritz but can't afford their prices so ignore them as you're doing an amazing job.

I was pleased to see that there was a wagamama close to my hotel, it usually one of my favourites for a quick meal. However the service was slow and food poor, nowhere near the standard I normally expect from wagamama.

Staff are friendly and on the ball. The food compares very well with other Wagamama outlets we have visited. Can be quite busy at times.
