WA cafe in Ealing

This Japanese cake shop is located on Ealing Broadway and is very easy to find, just a few minutes from the underground station. They have a wide variety of desserts, and the place is very cozy. The staff are friendly and welcoming, which is why I often come here to meet friends. Their cakes are delicious and outstanding, especially the chocolate praline. The matcha latte is also great, with beautiful latte art. I visit frequently and recently bought a cake to celebrate a birthday!

You guys deserve more than 5*. Impressive cakes. super yummy. the choclate banana cake is WOW. This certainly made my birthday so special. Thank you :)

Cakes are nice but the service is average. I ordered a hot hojicha latte and the barista claimed that I ordered a cold one and rolled her eyes when I asked if she could make me a hot one instead. Kind of disappointed - given the price I paid and mood got ruined as I just want a chill and nice Sunday afternoon ☹️

This place is a rare treat! The best matcha, delicious savory snacks and cakes! Those are not only delisious, full of flavors and interesting tastes, but also a pieces of art. One cake is such a rich treat, You will know that is enough. My favorite place in London, if You looking for some outstanding sweet experiance! And the calm atmosphere is a cherry on the cake! Love it! 😍

the cafe is overall good but a bit not as good as what it is being advertised or i expected. it is with limited seatings maybe around 5 tables so i opted to order takeaway. I tried green latte and a chocolate banana slice cake. It tastes 3 stars actually but with the staff service, i would give 4 stars max. So I may not visit again :3

WA Japanese pastry cafe in Ealing neighborhood. Small, but pleasant place with curious and delicious cakes, with coffee, tea and Japanese drinks. Different prices if you buy and take it away or if you take it in the place that has few tables.

Quality has gone done massively since they opened but it's still better than 90% of London bakeries so can't really complain.

Cake is nice but bread is not that soft. Workers can be more kind if it's really a Japanese cafe.

Love the cafe but hojicha latte was a huge disappointment! You only taste soya milk! Too little hojicha powder and soya overpowering everything. This is based I already specifically asked less milk… also, not understand why do you put soya … a cup of soya for £4.8…

Lovely place for a nice dessert. Not only are all the sweet treats amazing but the staff is incredibly nice too. I tried matching tiramisu and I loved every bite of it.

Got the custard bun and strawberry cake. Delicious. Extortionate pricing. And huge discrepancy with eat in and take away. Not worth the extremely high cost

I absolutely love this place. We have bought the occasional cake to take to my daughter's who lives locally. It's a nice treat with a cuppa. The place itself is so clean, spotless in fact and the staff are so polite and eager to serve. But it's the quality of everything that's on display on the food front that makes me return. It all looks fantastic and I especially enjoy the matcha milk roll but the choice is a delight for the eyes.

Interesting snacks on offer - try the chicken karaage in a bun. Service is faultless, location is great, just a short walk from the tube station. Staff are very attentive and polite. One of the best Japanese coffee places in town. And nothing letting you down. Am looking forward to our next trip there - hope to try their matcha rolled cake

Delicious hojicha latte! It would’ve been great if they had at least one vegan cake though, because all the cakes looked very good!

Good tasty cakes but I have to give an overall 2 stars as the service is substandard and it’s not worth the money/visit. This was my 2nd visit but it hasn’t won me over so I don’t think I’d be rushing back at all. The Covent Garden shop feels crowded with limited seating. The way the seating at the front is arranged is super awkward because everyone seems to be watching anyone who just walks into the shop. It feels like you are on a runway and they are the spectators. The staff is the worst part of the experience. They are not tentative. They do not show enthusiasm with what they do and both times that I visited, the staff behind the counter only managed to squeeze a fake smile out when forced to serve. The shop is small with limited seating. People before me and myself had wanted to find seating before ordering but the staff couldn’t care less about it. I ended up just ordering the cakes and left as I felt I’m being rushed. It does not feel like a welcoming environment at all. It just gives out the wrong vibe. For those who are seeking service as part of the shopping experience, I would certainly not be recommending this shop.

Absolutely love everything about this place.

When I ordered I wasn’t asked if i wanted to eat in or take away my drink and fruit Sando. So when I got my driink I wanted to take a seat and the server told me I didn’t pay to sit down. Never in my life have I been to cafe and was told I could not sit down after purchasing items from their menu. Also the cream Matcha drink was absolutely terrible… I had to throw away the entire drink. Worst matcha I’ve ever had !

Went there to try their matcha cake and it was out of this world! Can't wait to try other treats and beverages! The atmosphere is cosy and fancy at the same time! The staff are very attentive and polite!

One of the best desserts which I had in a long time. We tried 4 different small cakes and they were all fantastic! I highly recommend the Matcha Tiramisu and the White Sesame Cheesecake. The staff were very friendly and nice as well.

Came here for the cakes and came home with some pastries! The cafe is a bit pricey as other reviews say, but they currently have a promo of 5 items for £13 (see photo) on offer for most of their breads. Such a good deal!

It used to be a lovely place, not any longer. Sadly we (myself, my little daughter and my pregnant friend) were told off today isn a disgusting way I can't believe the staff behaved with us with no manners whatsoever. Unacceptable comments towards the way my daughter eat cake. Spent there today approx £40 and this is was the last time I've been so generous. Everything is overpriced for the quality provided. I used to like this place. They took a chair away from my daughter as well and gave her someone's clothes which were on the chair without any excuses. I was shocked. All staff required to get manners No parking. Kids unfriendly.

Lovely Japanese patisserie selling the most beautiful and delicious little cakes, pastries and sweet treats. They have a good selection of hot drinks too. Would highly recommend this place if you like cakes and other sweet foods!

Such a beautiful Japanese cafe with standout desserts. Cakes are amazingly fluffy (mango is a must try), the unique drinks are surprisingly tasty and they also have excellent caramel latte. Croissants are great, though the pan was a bit dry. Overall, a lovely spot for sweet treats and coffee.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Il locale è carino e i dolci non sono male (anche se di dolci giapponesi ne abbiamo provati di migliori), tuttavia, anche data la posizione è molto affollato e i posti a sedere non sono molti. Noi abbiamo preso da asporto, ma il servizio ci è parso molto distratto e poco capace di gestire la clientela, con gente che cercava anche di passare avanti ed ordinare prima (cosa di per sé molto fastidiosa, ma con alcuni dolci quasi finiti, lo diventa ancora di più). Indubbiamente ci sono cose da migliorare e immagino, in particolare il servizio che è stato davvero deludente.

Fantastic little place not too far from Ealing station. A great variety of Japanese cakes and hot drinks. The matcha latte is superb, as are the various matcha desserts.

I am French and For lovers of fine pastries of quality as good as French ones but less sweet. These are for many standard pastries slightly revisited, they are delicious, sublime for the eyes and not very sweet, I highly recommend. There are also excellent pastries and Japanese buns. It also has a variety of exceptional Japanese tea. On the other hand, the place is quite small and quickly full but the service is great. If you pass through Ealing don’t hesitate! Tasty small cafe with very little seats, matcha cake portion was small but tasty. Souffle cheesecake is also good but the mermelade on top is not as good as the cake itself.

Absolutely delicious desserts! Not possible to bring someone with a lactose intolerance or who is vegan though as all the desserts contain milk of some kind. We didn't realise and my partner has a lactose intolerance so he could only drink the tea

Food is nice but one of the lady staff is so rude.

This place was so busy on a Saturday Morning but SO worth it. I had the Matcha Melon Pan and Chicken Karaage Sandwich which were both so stunning. (If you're wanting the sandwich to be hot, you'd be out of luck though). The only issue with the shop was that I couldn't buy one of everything to try! The next time I'm visiting Ealing, I'll definitely be around.

I ordered an iced Hoji Cha Latte and it tastes ABSOLUTELY watery and flavorless with minimal tea flavour and scent (worse than Kova patisserie). Getting served within 20s after payment makes me suspicous of whether they actually premade iced drinks for customers. £4.80 for a water-like drink is a rip off no doubt.

Top notch Japanese baked goods and cakes. Matcha tiramisu and the strawberry cake were all delicious. Not too sweet. But these goodies are all expensive, costs £6.50 to £7.50 each! Service from the staff was not the greatest sadly.

My husband and I came to London with the family. We were highly recommended to try WA for their wonderful Japanese Cakes. We agree the cakes were fabulous but for the price we paid, we would expect to be greeted with great service too. Both the serving crew were unpleasant and unfriendly which is very unlike all the others we have encountered in London. Conclusion is that we will not go back again. London has very good pastries and great service crew.

I’ve been buying pastries here for a few years because they are lovely. Recently, however, I noticed that their Mont Blanc has reduced in size quite a bit. This is disappointing because the price remains the same.

Beautiful cafe, but expensive and seating is limited but it’s a very nice place, actually the best coffee I’ve ever had.

Excellent beverages and cakes! The customer service is always great, friendly staff who remember you. I like that there is no wifi and you can relax with a book on a weekday when it's not so busy during the day.

I've always enjoyed the Japanese style pastries here. But however the service is terribly appalling especially in the morning. The manager (I believe) dressed in white was really unfriendly and made it seemed like she's 'doing you a favour' in manning the till. Spoilt my morning with this, which was unfortunate.

My second time visit with this japanese patisserie shop. I had a matcha tiramisu and it's delicious. Their patisserie are not too sweet. I highly recommend this shop if you're concerned about your sugar intake.

It's always buzzing and bright in WA café but not to the point it is hectic. There is a calm atmosphere amongst staff and customers that radiates satisfaction. The cake here is wonderful and I always get a box of 4 each time I visit Ealing. The cake here tastes as good as it looks and I highly recommend popping in.

Incredible service and gorgeous array of pretty cakes, pastries and Japanese-inspired confections and drinks. Very high prices though which was a little disappointing.

Ordered take away and items are missing. The package came with a sticker which states that please do not contact them directly with regard to any missing items. Disgraceful. Unscrupulous. Shameless.

£4.80 for a matcha latte, very white, extremely milky. Disappointed. The presentation looked great, just to find out that all the bright green matcha was looking beautifully on top and underneath it was a barrel of pretty much plain milk. Service was also appalling. They ran out of cakes (apparently), I asked if there was anything left and they confirmed that there was not, both to me and to the next customer. Imagine my surprise when 20 mins later they sold take away cakes to new customers from a fridge underneath the counter despite it had not been restocked whilst in there. Clearly lazy attitude from staff for dine in. Will not come again.

I dont if people are getting paid to write reviews but this place is honestly not all that, service is so mid the waiters feel very passive agressive i think theyre only nice to white customers and regular customers that come all the time. the food is so expensive i spend 19.20 on two very small cakes and a matcha latte which was not nice at all

A lovely Japanese cafe/patisserie in Ealing. They have beautiful desserts, but also some savoury items, as well as coffee and tea. The seating space is rather limited.

The tastiest, lightest and most beautiful cakes and deserts! It’s definitely worth a visit! Not many tables and always super busy! We ordered to take away! It’s a gem of a place!

Best experience, food was tasty, coffee was lovely it had that beautiful roasted aroma and taste. The service was great. All the staff were polite, helpful, and smiling. Atmosphere was neat, clean, and relaxing with the view of the park.

I got a matcha latte and a chicken teriyaki sandwich, the matcha was ok and the chicken sandwich was really good but very overpriced. It was very flavourful, and the portion size was good too, definitely one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, but a sandwich for £10? I wouldn’t get it again even if it tastes like heaven. We also got the earl grey apple cake, unexpectedly good, not too sweet and not too plain. Overall everything was good but it’s just very pricey.

I'm ordering what I used to order since I have been buying cakes here years ago, I used to buy a lot of cakes WA. I found out the cake isn't the same quality. The matcha chocolate is very flakey much thinner chocolate than before it has no crunch to it and the taste of cream is not as rich and milky as before.The base has no crunch to it as well. The cake is very lack of character than it used to be. It used to be fantastic! I can not taste strong matcha with the rich cream and less matcha powder. You are not going to remember it or feel impressed of the matcha if you eat this cake. The strawberry cake has very little strawberry in it. It's not the same when I have them now compare to the past. I also ordered some different latte which were okay. Cakes are not the same,shame.

Been here a few times, always a great experience. Would recommend the plum tea, a little on the expensive side but a lovely treat!

Stopped here for some treats after lunch and wasn’t disappointed! All the dessert looked very good and fresh. I tried the chocolate one with pralines and it was delicious. Also got one of the matcha tiramisu, which was good too. Bit pricey but worth it. Definitely recommended if you are around Ealing looking for a treat

I think people mistaken this place is run by Japanese. I was told the owner is Malaysian who also owns Hare and Tortoise next door. I used to love this place, however, the service seems to have gone down hill. I ordered a cake online. On the day of picking up, I stood at the door and told one of the staff about my order. Then I tried to walk into the cafe, the staff shouted at me ‘Stay there!’. Why couldn’t I wait inside?! About two weeks ago, I went to order matcha latte and green tea cake to dine in. Again, another staff was rude to me by telling me to ‘Sit down!’ and she would call me once my order was ready. When they were ready, she simply left them on a tray on top of the countertop without calling me. I knew there was no service but the staff didn’t have to be rude. Not going back. Cakes are good but I don’t want diabetes.

I enjoyed eating here. The quality of the cakes is excellent and delicious. They are very lightweight and tasty, not overly sweet or rich. I had the strawberry cake with Kurogoma(Sesame) Latte. The latte was not sweet at all which was nice because it balanced out the dessert. The total was a bit pricy and came up to £12. Customer service is fast and staff are very hospitable and polite. I would definitely keep coming here in the future.

Tea was just hot water. Asked for stronger tea and was charged 50p extra for some more tea leaves. Matcha tiramasu was uneatable. Matcha roll was good. Citrus tea was okay. Overpriced and disappointing. Won't go here again and I don't recommend.

As an ex-expat in Japan of 15 years, I have finally found a Truly authentic Japanese cafe with a wide selection of pastries, cakes and drinks in London! What a delight! Matcha tiramisu, pumpkin croquet and sen cha are fabulous! Yet to go through the full selection of Wa’s dishes, so will be coming back soon! The cafe gets very very busy, hope they can expand soon or somehow add more tables for more customers.

Had a very bad experience in WA Cafe today. I have been a WA Cafe customer for years. Today I went in to get some bun for my breakfast. The girl at till was so rude. She gave us the most serious face and no communication at all which is fine. Before we leave I found out the bag of bun wasn't been sealed. So we kindly ask her if she can seal the bun for us. She grab the bun without out say anything and gave us poker face back. I well received that she is so unhappy with us asking her to seal the bun which she should do before handling to us. And we said thank you so much for your help to her. She replied with silence. Before I go I told her I'm not happy with her service and she rolled her eyes back. As a customer I like WA Cafe products. But it's not what I'm expecting when I coming spend my money with this attitude. You don't need to be professional but at least respect the customer. If you are not happy with the job you can leave do not need to showing it at work to customer like this. This is extremely rude.

Been to WA Cafe several times before, never disappointed. Cakes are very soft and not too sweet. Plus they look very pretty, too!! 🥹

The most “Japan” Japanese Cafe I’ve visited in the UK. All staff are Japanese or Japanese speaking local, totally no problem if you order in their language, definitely give me a feel of going back “home”. They sells different kinds of pastry like cakes and pan, also some sandwitches, all very authentic Japanese style. Their drinks are superb, from taste to presentation are top notch. The shop is spacious but only have a few tables which makes it a comfortable place to chill and relax, however, may be many people also thinks that way make they have a policy of only 2 hour dinning time.

Very soft delicate food and the latte was exactly as imagined with nice relaxing music in the background.

Both the seamsame cheesecake & the bun with sausage was delicious! Would try the matcha instead of matcha latte tasted bit diluted !

The coffee here is nice, although it may not be the absolute best I've had, it's definitely a great deal considering the price. The staff is simply amazing and very friendly. I also tried their sandwich, which, I must say, is outstanding, although it comes at a slightly higher price point.

Had coffee and vermicelli maron cake. They were both nice and the cake was delicious and had the right balance of sweetness and creaminess.
