Can you please put lids on your Pho delivery as I pay £23 for the Pho (bone broth) and every time you deliver we loose half the soup in the containers please? May I also mention the person answering the phone calls often didn’t have a decent grasp of English language as it’s frustrating when I try to call to let you know if the slight mishaps. Your Pho is delicious but also very expensive so when we can afford to treat ourselves we do but it’s a disaster when there’s only one full container and one half!!! It’s a waist of our money so we will be going elsewhere from now on. All the best

Positively disgusting 🤢 Ordered via Uber Eats received beef salad which looked nothing better than cat food and the Pho was bland and the beef brisket was nothing of the sort - old sliced beef provided instead with lots of fat and rind.

The fresh taste and the well-judged, slightly zingy dressings and other dish accompaniments make this a very good, go-to Vietnamese restaurant. The only downside relates to the acoustics which amplify noises to a point that might be bothersome if the place was crowded

The food was very bland, ordered prawn pancakes and it was loaded with hardly any prawns and abundant bean sprouts. The owner's English is disgraceful and couldn't understand her. I’ve been coming here on and off for over 5 years. It’s my local for noodles.. My last visit a couple of weeks ago was very disappointing. I ordered the vermicelli noodles with prawns, in a fish sauce. The amount of protein was almost laughable - prawns cut in half then butterflied to make it look more substantial. I think there was a total of two prawns! I had to hunt for them and of course you hardly know you’re eating them because there are so few and so small. Very stingy considering I paid extra to have king prawns. The noodles and vegetables were fine but not as flavoursome as before. Sadly, I won’t be coming back to VyNam for a while. Such a shame they did they this.

Have been going to this restaurant for years I think it has really gone downhill. Food was very bland to the point of tasteless. Had the Summer rolls, they had no flavour. Had the chicken pho - very little chicken, very little flavour. Had lemon not lime. Service ok not particularly friendly. We ordered mango salad, it never arrived. Was disappointed as I really used to like this place

Pleasantly surprised to find a Vietnamese restaurant in this area. Popped over for a lunch (specials on their last page of menu). Curbed a craving for ~£9.50 wasn’t going to complain as the portions looked average but stomachs weren’t satisfied solely on this meal (if I were to dissect the meal, there wasn’t much protein). The lemongrass chicken was prepared and cooked differently to what I have had in restaurants over the years ie seemed to use a curry/turmeric spice for a yellow color? and the amount of chicken overall wasn’t much at all. Again, wasn’t going to question it as was edible. The vermicelli bowl seemed the better choice of our 2. Perhaps if we return will consider a starter too. Would recommend if you have a craving too, as service was fine and food was tasty enough.

Much enjoyed piping hot chicken satay and five other dishes. Still too noisy - probably because there are no soft furnishings to absorb the sound of heavy chairs on the wooden floors, some (few) too over-exuberantly chatty customers etc. Would like to see some effort to address this issue

We enjoyed a dish of scallops and a mango, pappaya and carrot salad for appetisers. No hay factor sorpresa. Simplemente comida vietnamita sencilla, sencilla y básica.

¡Buen trabajo!

We have been to Vy Nam a lot over the years and always found the food to be excellent and the service, friendly. Today , Mother’s Day, however, was the exception . I came with my husband and two children and the restaurant was fully booked, as expected. This time though, the food was truly disappointing... my summer fresh rolls came without the correct sauce, the fried spring rolls were greasy, the duck in pancakes was bone dry, the papaya salad was unexciting . For main course, we had three Pho bowls , all equally tasteless. What happened ???? This has been a favourite local for years, so we were all looking forward to a lovely meal . I can only assume it was a one -off disaster and will try Vy Nam again one more time ... perhaps we were just unlucky ? I hope so ...., otherwise , there are other places to spend my hard-earned cash.

I appreciate that this place has already been reviewed for its service and that it's not a place to visit for its service. But there has to be an element of good service even if it's not a place to sit down for a romantic evening. We felt the staff just wanted our table as it was a busy night and we did book. As soon as I put the last bit of food in my mouth the plate was gone. My meal was delicious but they bought my rice a few minutes after bringing my main dish. It just wasn't right. I've been to wagamamas on many occasions and they also want you out quickly but they can do it right service wise. I don't think I will return anytime soon and will tell my friends/family about the experience and let them judge the place for themselves. One last observation, the dishes aren't very big and they charge £4.50 for a rather small bowl of rice. Cost us almost £35 for the two of us and this was with no alcoholic drinks. And we held back on ordering more than we would usually.

8 members of my Foodie Group decided to have lunch at Vy Nam today. They thoughtfully arranged a round table for us and brought us jugs of iced water while we ploughed through the tempting menu.Normally, when we lunch as a group, we go for the Prix Fixe meal, to make it easier to divvy up the bill, but the a la carte menu was soooo tempting, we abandoned the set lunch and followed our hearts ....or should I say, "stomachs" ?Several of us ordered the Vietnamese crispy pancake, stuffed to the brim with either mixed seafood (scallops, prawns and squid - highly recommended) or with chicken. Others had beef wrap, spring rolls etc. and we followed with main courses of roast duck with rice (yum!), Pho with either beef or seafood, and Mixed Seafood with noodles. The lovely waitress didn't stop smiling the whole time we were there and was efficient and helpful, as well as lovely . She even agreed to bill us separately to save us doing tortuous mathematics at the end of a lovely meal !The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five, is that two of my guests would have like more spice in their Pho, but I was more than happy with my own choice. Also the restaurant was rather noisy, but that was more the fault of the other diners than the staff.I'm sure we'll return soon....maybe for dinner.

We do go to Vy Nam from time to time, and find the food excellent. The service is usually friendly. Can be rather cramped and noisy, though, evidence if its popularity. But an occasional problem crops up, which I do find irritating, and which can provide an annoying ending to a enjoyable meal. Credit cards are generally accepted in the evenings. Except when, randomly, they're not. Like this evening. And they don't tell you. Not when you order. Or when they bring the bill. Only when your credit card's been sitting next to the bill in that little leather folder, for ten minutes. I expressed slight surprise at this apparent thoughtlessness. Why was the 'broken' card machine not mentioned when we ordered? Or even when we requested the bill? I did not fancy a surprise trip to the cash machine and back. The young man was unrepentant. No glimmer of understanding of my point of view. Only, eventually, a vague, perfunctory sort of apology. So, no tip. And a sniffy review. I dare say we'll return, but perhaps we'll engage the manager in conversation. I see that, worryingly, a previous reviewer had intimated that cash might be 'disappearing'. Surely this can't be true! Might just mention it, though.

We loved it - tasty food, fast and efficient service, big selection from the menue, good vibe, and a bit noise from all the banter around - no music in this restaurant!Tidy and well looked after restaurant, which we doubted when just walked in - the smell by the doors is rather unpleasant, but once inside the restaurant this was quickly replaced with pageant exotic smells of Orient. Unexpected and nice. A bit too expensive if anything - with no alcohol it set us back £55 for two for a regular dinner.

Came here for first time for light Sunday lunch with husband. Very prompt service though small, cosy ground floor area busy. (There is another larger room downstairs if you are with party.) We managed to find a table for two away from the others. NB. This is a cash only cafe/restaurant. We shared fabulous mango salad. I asked for no chilli, which they forgot to leave out. Fortunately it was fresh chilli so I was able to remove 3 pieces decorating the top. It also came with a sprinkling of peanuts which you can ask them to leave out. I would definitely have this salad again. Husband had tasty but oily spring rolls. We wouldn't recommend these. We had a tasty shared spring sizzling platter with basa fish (see online menu- prices have increased a little.) Friendly waitress showed us how to roll ingredients in the rice pancakes, having washed her hands first! Good. There were only 4 pancakes, 6 would be better. Ask! For the quantity shared platter would just be a starter, but you could easily have the dish to yourself as a main course. Husband's dessert was coconut icecream with mango sorbet. We agreed that it wasn't too sweet--great! Prices reasonable but have increased from online prices. Tables a little close together but this wouldn't stop us from going again to try more dishes. There's toilet on ground floor. Didn't look downstairs. Spotted some children's high chairs in a corner.

We've been looking at this place for a while now and decided to have dinner there tonight. We ordered drinks, spring rolls, 2 vegetarian dishes and a meat one and asked for it to be without chilis. The vegetarian dishes were great, but... the meat one had a bunch of chilis in it. When I pointed out to the waiter he said ah, it's just 1 chili, we're very busy, will it be ok this way? When I showed him the other ones he suggested to take them out because that would solve the problem, right?! After pressing on it a bit, he took it back and brought a new plate, but my guess is they just took out the chilis 1 by 1, heated the same plate up a bit and brought it back, since it was just as hot and spicy... and had 1 extra hair in it. The "best" part of the night was when they tried to charge us for the drinks we ordered but never got.. and when trying to pay with card suddenly mentioned that tonight is cash only as their machine does not work. I would have given them 0 pounds for the service but they already included 10% charge in the bill... Will definitely not go back in the foreseeable future!

As a long time booster of this place, one was horrified to be treated so poorly. We arrived without having made a reservation as it was getting late. The place was beginning to show signs of several tables getting ready to leave and there was one, completely unoccupied table available, just waiting to be cleared and cleaned. Granted this was a table for 4 and we were only 2. But only after consultation with a more senior person did the greeter/server declare it was not available as it was reserved. Given there was no reserved sign on the table and a cunning glint in the eye of this greeter server it was plain they wanted to keep it free in case a party of 4 materialised, even though we were standing there, ready and waiting. This was embarrassing and unacceptable.Guess what - we shall not be returning any time soon

Vy Nam offers an extensive menu of authentic Vietnamese cooking - noodle dishes, rice dishes, curries, and it also offers many tempting options if you are veggie. The food was absolutely delicious. It's licensed with a nice selection of alcoholic drinks. Went for dinner mid-week without a reservation and didn't have to wait for a table, but it was busy, so it might be a good idea to book if you're not local. Our meal was great value, especially for London. We had two starters, two mains, rice and Jasmine tea (free refills) for just under £35.00, including service. Service very friendly, but could have been a bit more attentive - e.g. noticing we needed more tea. Dessert menu a bit of a disappointment - all of it bought-in ice creams, kulfi, etc. Would have liked the chance for something sweet made in-house. Tables very comfortable, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. Overall, this was an excellent dining experience.

Went to Vynam for lunch with some friends, and it was fine, but not out of this world. We're all vegetarian and as such, all had Tofu based dishes. My two mates had it with black bean sauce and rice and I had a Pho. Theirs' looked really good, and well presented, and they both cleaned their plates. The food was alright, but not 'special'. They were generous with portions, and it came quickly, which was handy as I was on a short lunch break. They gave us all a lot of tofu. Beansprouts, chilis and a lemon was given to me on a separate dish, which was a nice touch. This came to £8, which is the same as in a number of other places, so can't really complain. My biggest concern.....was that I got the feeling the soup was made with meat. I might be wrong, but it tasted like it. I ordered it from the 'special lunch menu' at the back, and it didn't say what the broth was made from. As I was in a rush, I didn't think to ask, and on previous places I've been to; when a customer says 'can I have tofu', waiters usually realise t's the vegetarian option, and say if the Pho broth is vegetarian or not.The service was friendly, but a little all over the place. There seemed to be a lot of people in there, and they didn't look like they were coping all that well. Big plus, was a free drink, and quite nice staff, and the biggest de-merit is a minimum card spend of £15, which is annoying. Food seemed authentic and prices were not outrageous. I might go back, but have something different.

We tried the pappaya salad and rare beef salad followed by a seafood noodle dish and what was supposed to be a duck curry with lemongrass and chillies. Unfortunately, this arrived as a mixed seafood curry so it had to go back and be replaced - which was achieved with minimum of fuss and good grace. The food was good though not as piquant/spicy as on soe previous visits

Just such original freshly made food. A cross between Thai and Chinese. There were 4 of us and as usual we over ordered. Every dish was superb. We have never eaten this type of food before so it was a great experience. The staff were just delightful and very helpful. The starters are main course size so don't be put off by the price of these.Every dish can be shared.Unfortunately they don't make desserts which would be very interesting. They do a set lunch about £8It is however on 2 floors do if you have trouble with stairs make sure you ask for upstairs. Be warned upstairs is noisy. Can't wait to go back.

Paying by Cash seems odd these days, when everyone pays by Card! So beware it has its pitfalls. My experience at the Vynam I ordered a Take a way and picked it up, meal was ready, the cashier asked for my money which was £17 so I gave £20 and was waiting for my change and the boss came up to me and started chatting, 5min later he said, are you going to pay now and I said I already payed and! They said I didn't pay and I said I did and the checked the Receipts against the till and they eventually said I didn't it all tallied up! So then they started looking at the CCTV footage, taking too much time, eventually I gave in and said here is £20 again! I know I paid, but couldn't prove it!I think the son of the boss is cheating on his father, the boss.On returning home I told my wife what happened and she said I should have called the Police! But I didn't want to make a fuss! I'm upset about it and will never go back even thought the food is extremely good!Steven Morrison

Dont go expecting a restaurant, it's a cafe as per the name. It's often busy, tables are close together, service is hustly-bustly but acceptable for this type of place. Menu isn't as extensive as it used to be. There is some really nice food on offer here cooked using fresh ingredients that leave you feeling good. All the classic dishes you'd expect - curries, pho etc. If there is a free table you can be in and served quick which is nice when you are on the go. If you are looking for a leisurely dining experience then this isnt the place for you.

4 of us for an early evening meal. The place quickly filled up and we were served quickly. Many customers were vietnamese or asian. All the staff were very welcoming and prompt. The menu was extensive - perhaps too big for everything to be fresh. However, we had good food, served hot, and nicely presented - ranging from tofu for the vegetarian, and crispy duck and sweet & sour chicken etc for the meat eaters. Including 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers, 1 main course for each of the 4 of us - the bill came to roughly £20 each. Not too bad.The restaurant is fairly basic but comfortable enough. No piped music thank goodness! We would recommend this place as good for a tasty meal at a price which won't be a surprise.

I have been here before but this experience was horrible and I will not be returning. I ordered a glass of wine and water, which took forever to come and I had to ask for my water three times. The wine was clearly under the measurement stated on the menu. The meal I ordered was on the special lunch page, so it was 8 pounds. However, the server told me that it was actually 9.50 and he would be charging me this amount even though he was in the wrong and I had pointed this out to him. My meal arrived, what a joke, the bowl was a 1/3 full and cold. I asked to return it so it could be heated and was refused by the server. Absolute ripoff and I left still starving. AVOID!!!!

We had 3 appetisers yesterday and all 3 were amazing, the spring rolls, the minced beef roles and grilled chicken. Our waiter who seems to wait on us on every occasion was there again and very pleasant. We are back there again tonight!

I was shocked when I received the bill which was a main dish and rice and one beer which came a few pence short of £20! When I queried this the manager was so rude so I refused to pay any service charge and he replied "dont come back again" This is a not so cheap and cheerful looking cafe with an owner/manager who has had a number of people complaining about his attitude. Its a pity I cannot comment on the food which is what I was there for!

If you have any idea about cooking and quality of food, you don't want to even try this place. Food was clearly microwaved. It was just sloshy, gloopy and overpriced mess on a plate.Customer service is truly appalling.Never again!

We haven't eaten here for a few months and I was concerned by some negative reviews. We found the food excellent and readonably priced. If you are looking for fine dining, this ain't it. But if you want freshly prepared tasty food, this is the place. We had a super meal, our friends were impressed and the debit card machine is working!!

Hidden behind an unpretentious frontage is an unpretentious interior. The only hint of the treat to come (depending on when you arrive) might be the number of tables occupied. At busy times you will need to book. The staff are friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes. The food is really well cooked, well spiced and enjoyable. Prices are fair, the only thing missing is ambience, but meet friends and make your own.
