Volcano Japanese in Cardiff

Me pareció que este restaurante era bastante caro. Nos aventuramos durante su promoción del 50% fuera de horario de día que en realidad no sabíamos, ya que no nos dimos cuenta de la junta publicitándolo hasta que nos fuimos. Dicho esto, me pareció que los precios eran bastante altos para la comida. Y el tamaño de la porción también rozaba el miserable. Este restaurante ofrece una opción de comer tanto como quieras, sin embargo, los términos y condiciones son bastante restrictivos. Puedo entender que tienen que mitigar la codicia y el exceso de pedidos, sin embargo, no es una experiencia atractiva. Entre los términos más interesantes para su experiencia de todo lo que puede comer es la perspectiva de que se le cobre por cualquier alimento que no come! El personal también me pareció bastante agresivo. Había unas 6 mesas en total comedor y un montón de personal alrededor. Me sentí apresurado cuando los platos fueron recogidos casi tan pronto como dejaste los cubiertos y los vasos se alejaron momentos después de escurrir la última boca. Es una delgada línea entre la eficiencia y permitir que un huésped disfrute de su comida. No es como si estuvieran ocupados y necesitaran mesas. ¡Quizás un poco más enfático! Dicho esto, la comida era buena y durante su promoción del 50 % la comida es mejor que pagar sus precios completos.

Muy buena selección de comida - pero todavía me pregunto por qué los restaurantes asiáticos sienten que pueden cobrar £ 5 por unas galletas de gambas!

Fantástica experiencia. Pagamos alrededor de £ 30 cada uno para poder pedir tanta comida como nos gustó del extenso menú de sushi, carne, fideos y platos de arroz dentro de una franja de tiempo de dos horas. Podríamos pedir dos artículos cada uno por 15 minutos. Esto era comida más que suficiente, no pedimos tanto como podríamos haber pedido y estábamos tan llenos. Pudimos probar un montón de comidas diferentes y sería genial para las personas que son nuevos en la cocina japonesa para probar un montón de platos diferentes. La calidad de la comida era increíble, y cada plato era realmente fresco y súper caliente. El langostino tempura y las chuletas de cordero realmente destacaron. Recomendaría ir en un día de semana porque era tranquilo, lo que significa que nos atendieron muy rápido. Definitivamente volveré.

First time at Volcano but definitely not the last one. Great food, great experience. Very calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Worst experience eating out in a long long time. I'm certain after reading other similar reviews the all you can eat is a fraud. The food quality is absolutely atrocious that's if you ever see what you ordered, starters that you'd expect out of a bag from Iceland. Staff are not friendly or helpful in anyway. For the price point of dinner £32 I expected a reasonable quality it's not at all, having ordered and over an hour went by I'd only been served 2 starters of the 4 and I'd even placed another order for more food which did not come either I asked the staff if I could pay for what we had had and were promptly and rudely made out that I was full from the none existent food and was told in no uncertain terms I have to pay full price for food I have not even seen. Abysmal, I'm certain the all you can eat is a fraud they will leave such a considerable amount of time between service you'll end up leaving or being forced to pay for food you haven't received. Avoid this scam!!

Absolutely shocking service!! They say you have to wait 15 mins between ordering each round, you’re only allowed up to 5 rounds. It took over half an hour for one round!! After waiting for round 2 and still some bits from round one, we were well and truly fed up. Raised our concerns a couple of times and were fobbed off so asked if we could just pay for what we had, they made us pay for 90% of what we would have had after have less than 50% of it. No apology either. The food we did have was nice but would not recommend due to terrible service and being ripped off financially. Definitely not worth it

We recently visited Cardiff for a weekend. I saw the red dragon centre had a variety of restaurants. We looked at all of them but came back by the entrance to eat here. The service was excellent. The food was delicious and presented well. Price was reasonable and would come again. Cheers

Visited Volcano after a friends recommendation last night and we were not disappointed. There are two options, one is Al a cart and the other is all you can eat. I loved the concept, you order on the app, up to 4 dishes per person and it arrives at your table, freshly cooked and piping hot. My favourite dishes were the steak, the duck rolls and both chicken and prawn tempura. Can’t wait to visit again, I actually can’t stop thinking about the food. Service was brilliant, can’t fault it.

Absolutely fantastic food and and even better service for our son's 8th birthday. Our son has special needs but this was not an issue at all here, the staff could not have done more for him to make him feel special and comfortable. One of our best nights out ever as a family

Been eating at this restaurant since it first opened and it's kept the same great quality food standard. Staff have always been super nice to me. Love their concept of rounds for their all-you-can-eat offer - prices have gone up but I don't mind paying the new price as I still find value in it. Delicious food and will definitely keep coming back. Probably go once every few months. Hope they stay open for a long time :) Thank you for the tasty meals.

Myself and my son visited this restaurant , service and staff were great , but we ordered chicken noodles and chicken fried rice , and chicken satay sticks , I’m afraid that chicken was awful it was the worst parts of the chicken very rubbery and fatty, even if it was chicken what a disappointment

We went for a meal here and it was out third time using this restaurant. It was much quieter than usual and the food was not as good as usual. On our way out i noticed that their hygeine rating was hidden behind their front door and i moved the door and was shocked to see it was a ONE STAR. Being in the trade myself i would never eat in a one star hygiene place and felt cheated the rating was hidden because if i had seen that on the way in i would never have eaten there. Won't be returning anytime soon as sushi is high risk.

Terrible service. We went, had our order taken. Waited 30 minutes. Other tables who ordered after us got their food. We politely asked how long our food would be. After we asked the staff came over with a menu asking what we wanted to order. We ordered 30 minutes earlier! We even got our drinks which we ordered at the same time. What happened? We then decided to eat elsewhere. Unreliable and what an absolute let down! Would not recommend.

Dirty restaurant with rude unkind staff. Refused my coffee order as I wasn't ordering a full meal (for 1 girl, waiting inside from the rain, late at night) They could've been a lot more understanding but seeing their prices & the lack of cleanliness of their cutlery & tables I'm glad I didn't eat there. Plenty of other places in Cardiff to eat good Japanese food where it's clean & staff are polite (not just after your money)

Went here with family. It was a surprise venue for my birthday, and I’m so glad they chose this place! None of us had ever been here before and all 7 of us loved it. A very varied menu, from sushi to soup, to tempura prawns, tasty veg and a host of different meat dishes. It is a buffet, but you order from a menu and it’s all freshly cooked for you so always comes to the table freshly prepared! Excellent food quality, presented beautifully and super tasty! Staff were attentive and efficient. Restaurant itself was clean and nicely decorated. Would happily recommend to others (even if you’ve not had Japanese before because there’s something for everyone) and I will happily go back again.

The all you can eat buffet is beautiful the food melts in your mouth, staff very friendly and helpful, I like the buffet style as I can try new foods

We spotted this restaurant on our way from the ODEON cinema and are SO glad we decided to eat there. Everything was absolutely perfect, the staff were very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the options on the menu, they were not at all condescending about our lack of Japanese cuisine and very happly and thankfully swapped chopsticks for spoon and fork! The decor and music were both relaxing and very in keeping with the Japanese theme. The cleanliness was exceptional and it was obvious that the staff took a great deal of pride in keeping the restaurant spotlessly clean. We selected from the a la carte menu, duck spring rolls, chicken gyoza and prawn fried rice. There is an option for all you can eat at £29.99 per pseron and were very tempted, but as it was nearly 8pm it was already late for us to have a large meal we declined that option, although it may be something to consider in the future should we ever return to Cardiff. I cannot recommend this restaurants highly enough.

Went here one night and so glad we did. A really lovely and quality restaurant with helpful staff. The buffet menu is £28 each in the week but when you consider all the quality food you get, it's great value actually. (Compare that with other Japanese restaurants!!) Attentive staff, great menu and beautifully cooked food. You can have 4 choices each every 20 minutes up to 2 hours then you have to give your table back. Trust me, you won't get to 20 unless you can eat loads! We stopped at about 13 each. Although it's called a buffet it's cooked fresh to order. And you can have A La Carte as well if you prefer. Really great evening thank you.

Went as a family group,and the experience was enjoyed by everyone. You order individually from a menu which lets you order several items a time for about 5 or 6 times which is more than enough, most of the group were full up before their order limit. The food was freshly cooked and lovely to eat. The menu is very varied so there is something for everyone. Service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended if you like Japanese food but also for newbies to this cuisine.

Never tried Japanese food before but my friend wanted to come here. Not a fan of sushi but all the dishes I tried were very good. Staff were excellent and very friendly. Would definitely return

Volcano is located in Cardiff bay , its an buffet style order of the menu restaurant , where you can do a la carte or the buffet option which allows you to order 4 dishes at a time 5 times over ! My family went for the buffet option and it was definitely worth it with a larger group of people who are all able to share the many dishes available on the menu! The menu has a huge choice of hot and cold dishes and a large sushi menu! The tempura prawns and the lamb steaks were particularly great! As was the fried sushi this was delicious ! Service was attentive , well paced and friendly ! I cant wait for another visit to volcano already!
