Vinny's Restaurant in Colchester

Simply excellent! I have eaten here twice in the last few days. Each time everything was perfect. Today I noticed that both the chef and waiter were different and wondered whether I would notice a difference but, again, perfect. The ingredients very high quality. For example, Im a fan of black pudding so opted for it as an extra each time. Some of the best I've had anywhere. Most notable I'd say is the presentation of the food. I must have eaten in hundreds if not thousands of cafés serving similar renditions English breakfast and the like but if I don't think I've ever seen a place that presents the food so perfectly before. Different chef today but presentation equally perfect as my visit of a few days ago. Please visit this restaurant, especially if you are a tourist from abroad. English food often has a bad reputation but come here and help us set the record straight for you!

I've visited Vinny's twice in the last few days. The first time I was really impressed with both the quality of the food and, perhaps even more so, it's presentation I don't think I've ever seen such well presented food in this kind of place So today I noticed there was a different chef and a different waiter and wondered whether it would be the same. Perhaps it just been a one of but no, it was incredible again; beautiful food really well presented! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

People there great but when I got my shepherds pie it was a microwave meal they gave I eat didn’t say nothing last time I went there selling cheap food for more money go to Jenkins well worth the money in my opinion not buying cheap food

Monday 18th April 2022 This morning, I visited this cafe/restaurant Great owner friendly staff and clientelle I had the Megga breakfast, which cost 8 pounds 50 This is a really pleasent place to eat good valued food When in collchester I will use this place again Saturday 14th January 2024 Today, i came back to this cafe As of my last experians here, i could not complain it was de ja veux of my last experience Well done all The megga breakfast cost£ 9.99

First time at vinnys cafe as I wanted to find a cafe that was reasonable priced as fed up with paying £7 for a sandwich in other cafes !! Best & cheapest egg sandwich I have bought in Colchester , fresh bread and my eggs were very well done as asked for 😊 perfect lunch & drink just under £4.50 !! Will be returning again . Very happy customer

I had a great breakfast there and the staff were very friendly. good options and good value too. instead of a tea included i got a can of fizzy pop. certainly a good cafe fry up!

9.99 for a poor quality breakfast and cup of tea. There is surely better elsewhere. Mushrooms were actually the best thing about it Sausage was something you would feed a dog providing your dog isn't fussy. My dog would have bit me if I tried to feed him it probably though

Handy for Head Street bus stops. Order any combination of breakfast items or as I did, just toast. Clean, friendly service. Good value.

Lovely fresh full English breakfast from a traditional cafe.

This is a great cafe with a menu full of classic meals such as an all day breakfast, jacket potatoes and nuggets and chips for the children. The food was served quickly and the staff also made sure we were comfortable with checking if we needed a high chair or not. Vinnys is the place to go if you want a quick meal, which is value for money and not a chain.

Lovely little cafe in the middle of Colchester. Lovely food, welcoming and quiet. Nice place to have a cuppa with a bit of lunch. They have a varies selection of menu items and deals on food. Childrens menu is also great with many family favourites.

Friendly staff. Proper cafe. Haven't tried a huge selection of the menu but the breakfast is delicious with really nice mushrooms.

If you want a five star restaurant, then you are in the wrong place. The food is good though, and the service is prompt. I have never been there when it has been overcrowded, so I can't comment on the atmosphere. The staff have always been polite and helpful. It is okay. I particularly like their cottage pie. Comes with a good portion of veg as well.

Good decent food had a fry up breakfast nice thick rashers of bacon good quality sausage egg beens mushrooms bread all nice products you would eat in your home excellent price,no wonder they have been a part of head street for well over 20yrs best cafe in town for food and price Try them

Discovered this little gem when craving a cooked breakfast. The staff here are amazing, very friendly and really lovely to talk to. I have eaten out in similar café environments or the more expensive restaurants but this is the only place I have really felt like the staff care about the customers and I can't praise them highly enough. The food was gorgeous too, my cooked breakfast was extremely hot, not at all greasy, very tasty and the portion size was perfect, lots of it! Great cup of tea to accompany it too. I am not ashamed to admit I came back the following two days and wouldn't choose anywhere else for a similar meal in Colchester. Fantastic place, clean and tidy, prices are very reasonable and extremely welcoming and friendly staff.

Just popped in with the children after walking by for many years and was pleasantly surprised. Delicious breakfast and generous portions. The staff were polite, welcoming and really helpful. Will definitely return here over any chain establishment. 🥓☕

I haven't eaten at Vinny's in years. Was the first time I took my daughter there. The food was lovely and the 'Gutbuster' (plus hashbrowns) defeated my boyfriend haha. Decent amount of food on your plate and the salad with my scampi with fresh and crisp. Was lovely. Would eat there again.

Great food and very friendly service.

Vinnys can be found on the outskirts of town. It's clean which for a Greasy Spoon is a start. Pretty good service and the food was alright. It's a bit on the expensive side. Maybe cus we are from the North I thought until you go into the town centre and find all other places doing all day breakfast are a tad cheaper. Decent anyway.

Always try to visit here when I'm in town as prices are reasonable and staff friendly. In fact, I've been been coming here for years!!

Came in today with my friend and my children my eldest of which has adhd of which I explained and apologised for his behaviour it wasn't exceptable and I was trying my hardest to calm him down whilst apologising to the other customers which were in their what I found completely disrespectful humiliating and out of order is your server saying to me under his breath that I need to control my child better when questioned to repeat himself he replied with it doesn't matter I am left shaken humiated to the point I was in tears with anger as I left. Quite often eat at Vinny's, lovely people who run it, alway very friendly and cheerful, very surprised that more people don't go there, very reasonably priced, food always good. One of my favourite places to eat.

After being away for many years, we stopped into Vinny's for some lunch. The place was clean, light and airy & the food was hot and delicious! Staff were friendly & helpful. We won't leave it so long next time.

Just an average cafe at the cheaper end of things. Service was good, food was edible, and pleasant if not basic surroundings in which to eat it. Prices were slightly too high IMHO, but not excessive. I'd go here again.

Proper greasy spoon in the heart of Colchester. Does excellent value for money fry ups. Biggest breakfast and a HUGE mug of tea for just over a £5. Great place will go again.

Great Cafe! I visited two days this week and the breakfasts were cooked to perfection, the best I've had in any cafe for years. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is nice and chilled. I would thoroughly recommend it.

I've always liked Vinny's. You can guarantee good food and friendly service that won't break the bank.

Anything fried in this place is revolting. Whether it the oil used or over used. Shame as many years ago the last owner served good food.

Every time I have visited, I have been welcomed warmly, and the food has been great! A real family run cafe, with fantastic food and drinks! Definitely my go to place when im hungover and need a cracking fry up! The bacon and mushroom baps are my favourite ever!

This place used to be really good until I was sitting with a table of 4 friends showing them my new bracelets I made one of the staff came over and said are you buying anything in quite a rude way how cheeky is that I think the staff thought I was in there selling stuff to their surprise I bought quite a lot people can be so judgemental including the staff and the food is cold at times what has happened to this place

£5.49 for watery beans, plum tomatoes from a can, a sorry looking egg & undercooked hash browns plus a derisory cup of poor tea. No veggie sausage or mushrooms. Plenty of better places around.

Let's be honest, when you're going to a cafe, you're not expecting champagne and caviar... you expect a good honest breakfast, cooked well, and made with good quality ingredients.... I had 'The Gutbuster', with a few small changes(which the lovely staff made no fuss about), and it was perfect.. I was particularly hungry so went for their biggest breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Perfect portion, and great quality food and service. If you're in need of a good English breakfast in Colchester, this is the place to go!!

This is a 'no frills' cafe wiv decent food. I visited there with a colleague whilst on a business trip. Popped into this place for a jacket potato which wen I ordered seemed a little excessive price wise. Wen it arrived it was substantial and very nice.

Best breakfast in Colchester. always consistant and presentation is superb as are the staff. In many years I have never found anything to complain about, Superb coffee and very quick service.

Where we wanted to go was closed , so came here instead. Yo be honest we wouldn't come again. The place is tired and very cold ! We had a tea, hot chocolate and bacon and egg roll and a sausage sandwich . The sausage was very poor quality and same as the bread. Came to £9.87 ?? Strange amount. There are lots of better quality places to eat in Colchester.

If you want proper food that you eat with a knife and fork give this clean café a look. From traditional fry ups to other variations of good home cooked straight forward food. Well priced and nice place to eat 'nornal' food!

Don't be put off by the interior, this establishment knows how to rustle up a breakfast, whether a simple Bacon butty or Full English, you won't be disappointed. And, they make an awesome brew...!
