The famous museum, which was built as a museum in 1852 and took the name used today with a few name changes. Like all British state museums, it is free. We can say that it is mainly a design museum. First of all, it is a very beautiful building. It is the world's first museum with a restaurant. With its cafes in the garden and inside, it has something appealing for everyone. Especially its statues and giant replicas are the places with the most visitors. Ceramics, especially Iznik ceramics, photography section, fashion and design glassware, etc. It doesn't seem to count. The best thing to do is to pay 6 pounds at the entrance and get a Museum guide and visit there.

Like most Museums in London this one is free. It does cost to go to limited time exhibits. Those can sell out. We went during a slow time of year and enjoyed the lack of crowds. The only thing crowded was the gift shop. The V&S would take days to visit completely. It full of things to see and discover. It appeared to me to be very well laid out. I will try to return on a future trip to London.

This is easily my favourite museum in the entire world. It is not as well known as some of the other major museums in the world, such as The British Museum. In my opinion, it is vastly superior to the aforementioned museum, or any other museum for that matter. It is classified as an "arts" museum, which doesn't really give enough of an indication as to what the museum contains within it. The museum is absolutely massive, with a huge variety of ancient sculptures, some of which are enormous. The atmosphere is also incredible, and really peaceful. There are plenty of places to stop and rest, as well as cafes and a restaurant. Entrance to the museum is free, which is amazing, given the amount of artefacts on display. I wish other cities and countries around the world would take note of this and follow suit. There are regular events throughout the year which require payment (or a membership) but even without paying for any of the events, the museum has more than enough on display to keep you occupied for hours. I always see or discover something new whenever I visit. Highly recommended!

The Victoria and Albert Museum, commonly known as the V&A, is one of the largest and most important museums of art and design in the world. It is located in the Kensington district of London and was founded in 1852. Its name pays tribute to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. ### Main Features: 1. **Collections**: The V&A is home to more than 2.3 million objects spanning 5,000 years of art and design history. Collections include paintings, sculpture, textiles, fashion, ceramics, jewelry, furniture, photographs and much more. 2. **Design and Decorative Arts**: The museum is especially known for its exceptional collections of decorative arts and design, making it a world reference in these areas. 3. **Exhibitions**: Throughout the year, the V&A organizes temporary exhibitions that usually attract attention for their originality and thematic diversity, from fashion to technology applied to art. 4. **Access**: Admission to the museum is free, although some temporary exhibitions may have a cost. 5. **Facilities**: In addition to the galleries, the V&A has shops, cafes, and gardens that provide a pleasant space to enjoy a visit. 6. **Education**: The museum also offers a wide range of educational programs and resources for visitors of all ages. 7. **Architecture**: The building itself is an architectural masterpiece, with a mix of styles that reflect its evolution and expansions over the years. The V&A is a fascinating place that combines history, culture and design, and is a must-see for anyone interested in art and history.

There isn’t a corner of this place that isn’t beautiful, especially the South and East Asian galleries. ✨ Was really captivated by “Tipu’s Tiger”, a 19th C. Mysore automaton of a tiger mauling a British soldier (pictured). There’s definitely a dark irony in the fact that what was once meant to terrify or insult the British has been somewhat stripped of its bite, and caged in a British museum as an exotic curiosity. Credit to the V&A for acknowledging the artefact’s roots - the story is almost more important than the exhibit itself.

The Great Mughal art at V & A exhibition. I was under the impression that there would be informative material about Mughal emperors. And indeed there were descriptions about 3 of them - Akbar the great, Jahangir and Shahjahan. Apart from a very brief description that the dynasty was Mongolian and created by Halagu Khan and Amir Tamur, there was not much at all about other Mughal emperors. How did British take over the empire from them was not to be found at all! The fact that India under Mughals was the largest economy of the world before British took over was not even mentioned. It looked like that the exhibition was mostly about what art pieces V & A had of around that time, rather than a carefully exhibited educational stuff or anything else. And there were some obvious mistakes! The story “Hamza Nama” was actually an Arab story with some Persian characters in it. It had nothing to do with Mughals. Yet this is exactly was welcomed us as we entered the exhibition in the form of multiple art pieces. There were some translation mistakes too. For example “Hunar mand” would be much better translated as “skillful” and not “artist”, as was claimed in one of the art pieces as a title given to someone. There was very little in terms of ladies of Mughal empire who played a great role in history. For example Noor Jehan, Mumtaz Mahal and mother of Emperor Akbar who looked after the empire when he suddenly found himself on the throne at the tender young age of a boy. There were many important historical details conspicuous by their omission. For example, there was nothing about the great “9 Ratan” who practically ran the government of an illiterate but a very clever emperor Akbar. There was none about his new religion “Deen e Ilahi, and how he tried to bring Hindus and Muslims together including marrying into Hindu families. Overall, a great subject to have an exhibition about, but disappointingly very little relevant material on exhibit.
