Came down as a treat for food, it was lovely, well cooked and great pricing for the quality and quantity of food we received. Would happily return!

An amazing roast, very decently priced. Good size portions, high quality food. Proper Sunday roast. Good relaxed atmosphere. Perfect place to spend the afternoon with the family.

Fantastic steak with chunky chips ,was really good and can't fault the price £20. would definitely go back

Decided to drop in after walking the dog around Kirkstall Abbey on Sunday lunchtime. Really warm welcome, including treats for the dog. Had the roast dinner and it was amazing. Lots of thick slices of meat (I had Turkey and the other half had be), large variety of veg, roast and mash and a huge Yorkshire…really can’t fault it.

We went to kirkstall Abbey to scatter my late sisters' ashes Afterwords we went here fir Sunday roast There was 30 plus if us who all got Sunday dinner it was delicious Thankyou !

Absolutely beautiful food, would recommend the Sunday sharing platter.! 🤤 Kid friendly and good choice of kids meals.! Dog friendly with water bowls and treats.! Perfect place to stop off at after a walk round the Abbey.!

Just had a roast beef dinner - one of the best one ever . Very delicious and well presented . Definitely will be coming here again !

Had a brilliant time here i went with my wife and 2 childen and my elderly mother who is deaf and very awkward haha, anyways food came out promt and was delicious i had fish and chips my mam had gammon and my partner had scampie. The kids meals kept them quiet so must have been nice. The staff were very happy bubble and helpful. Thank for a great visit..

Came down with family for Sunday lunch and it was lovely! Lovely cuts of meat and lots of it, huuuuuuge Yorkshire puddings, and bottomless gravy! Lovely staff too, will definitely be back!

Pub was pretty quiet as we came in early on a Thursday evening.. Ordered food and waited for just over 30 minutes.. When it eventually did turn up, we were given wrong order and when questioned the guy who took order (who also got us the food out), basically argued the toss that we had ordered it wrong and was our fault. No apologies or clarification, he just walked away. Then later on came with fresh paprika powder in a bowl and said you can add this and eat, as this kitchen (what a joke!!!). Had order gammon with chips, peas and pineapple.. came with no peas, when questioned he said they didn't have any.. but he did not mention that when he put the plate on table either. The hotdog my little boy had got hair on it too. Service and food tasted awful/disgusting - never coming back here. Had had a really rough week and came out with family to have some good time, and walked out further upset and disappointed by the service. We gave back the stuff they had given us wrong, along with his paprika powder - and he just took it and walked in. That negative attitude towards people and not even being kind after being wrong, made it a very bad experience for whole family.

Nice enough Sunday dinner only had turkey option left on the meat selection but it was OK filled a gap

Just had a couple pints in this medieval pub location opposite the Kirkstall Abbey. Nice pub, traditional décor, decent beers, really nice beer garden. Will try the food, typical pub grub, next time.

First visit here as we are new to the area. Fancied a quick bite to eat. Menu was fun and inventive. Went for the Mexican loaded chips with pulled chilli beef. Was served with the biggest plate 😃 all for less than £6. Incredible value for such a brilliant dish. Highly recommend for a drink and quick bite. Well impressed.

Great pub, food is great value, bit too much nacho cheese, but good quality ingredients and tasty.

This is really good quality, probably Victorian local pub. Most friendly staff and service. The real ales were bang on. It's worth a visit.

Good food and beer, we stayed and had a couple of games of pool as it has contactless payment on it, which is great as none of us had any cash.

There was 14 of us for a family get together. They only had 2 staff on. One in the kitchen and one on the bar. The service wasn't bad taking this into account. Another staff member came in later which made things easier for them but we all had a brilliant time

I visited from Sunderland for a gaming event which the hosts kindly let us use their venue for. Great ales and customer service folks. I understand it is due to be updated, so best wishes to the team, I shall return.

Stopped by as it was Chippie Tuesday, I was not disappointed. I ordered haddock and chips with bread and butter, it was all delicious. Always enjoy stopping in at the Vesper Gate the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Will be back again soon.

I have to say I wasn’t looking forward to eating at the vesper, we had fish and chips and it was lovely I really enjoyed it and was very impressed. Thankyou.

The staff here are lovely and always very friendly. The beer garden looks huge so would be great on a sunny day. I bet they get a lot of footfall from the park/Abby! Although the drink selection was fairly limited, but I did overhear they’re changing their drinks around. As for food, me and some colleagues have popped in for lunch (around 12pm) on more than one occasion and always had to wait over an hour for food most peoples food. I’ll admit that ~8 of us turning up randomly and ordering meals will be a huge influx anywhere but everywhere else near by we’ve been is able to handle this and bring the food out at pretty much the same time. Our last visit here however some folks got theirs after 20 minutes, others 45, and one of us an hour and 15 minutes later. Could also be that it was early in the day and less staff on, but still. The staff member behind the bar was super apologetic. That said, the food was generous in portion sizes and also tasted good!

Nice pub but since changing to a blackrose pub food is not as enjoyable as it use to be but also no mixed grill option on the menu

Had some lunch with a friend and wow the food was absolutely delicious. Staff were so attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back! Don't understand these bad reviews, I could not fault anything! Though it wasn't busy it definitely should be, a diamond that's missed!

Really poor food. Had a burger meal. Very basic and tasteless, simply not worth it. Probably worst burger I have ever had. A student could make better food imo, its not hard. Its a shame as nice staff and location is great. Wasted potential.

Popped in for a quick drink (1/2 a coke & a quick game of pool lovely place for a drink well worth a visit so if ure in the area pop in ul b made very welcome!!!!

Terrible food all frozen nothing prepared fresh chips cooked in dirty oil meaning very dark but still cold in the middle Do not get the gammon it is a very very cheap quality and is then boiled to heat it up very fatty really not nice

Very nice Sunday dinner and the serving staff are faultless but unfortunately they need a better cleaner... especially around the toilet entrance it is shabby dirty and dusty... The ashtrays on the tables outside were full of cigarette buts floating in last night's rain and lots of debris around the beer garden.. not pleasant to sit amongst and to be honest a 15min job...

Took family to vesper gate for Sunday dinner 25th June, 23. Long story short the meal was very disappointing, the manager on shift was fab and took the criticism on board, she gave us all a round of drinks and a voucher in total of £50 to come back at a later date,There were 7 of us. Gone back today the 2nd July 23 and the standards were greatly improved. The meal, the service, the chef and the bar staff all were 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Maybe we just gone on earlier date at a time where it all goes wrong for you, but if today is anything to go by 10/10 vespergate 👍🏻👍🏻

The service was good with friendly staff however the food was dreadful the leak and mushroom pie was clearly an oven cooked pie which hadn’t even seen an oven apart from a microwave one leaving the pie looking pale white and the pastry harder than a house brick also the Blt sandwich was more like a tomato and lettuce as the bacon was virtually non existent extremely overpriced for the quality of food served Gordon Ramseys kitchen nightmares eatery’s look A+ compared to this eatery

First time coming in today with my partner we struggled to choose what we wanted but we had the skewers and I’ve never been more disappointed in my life are starters we’re terrible and the pub was filthy and to top it off the staff were talking about getting there friends to put up 5 star reviews let the customers determine what we like thank you will not be returning

I've been here a few times and i've mostly enjoyed the food but the new menu they implemented is way to big, like insanely large and spent a while choosing which meal to go for and the place is still quite filthy like someone hasn't cleaned it right which is quite a shame as it used to be a good pub with great atmosphere now the decor looks well worn and the food is a bit dissapointing

The most disgusting, dirtiest pub I have been in for a long time. Gents toilets out of order so used the disabled toilets. These toilets are so dirty, stained, dusty and unclean. Seating/dining area, carpets are not clean, window ledges dusty, tables sticky, seats or stained. Chef outside smoking his head off in chef whites. Kitchen door to beer garden wide open. Barmaid attitudes matches the cleanness of the pub. Too busy bad mouthing customers off. I honestly can not think of a good thing to say about the place. STAY AWAY !!!!!!

Had lunch here one Sunday. The place was filthy, the carpets in the pub looked like they hadn't seen a hoover for weeks, the bathrooms were just as bad. In need a serious deep clean. The food was mediocre at best and I'd be dubious over the state of the kitchen given the rest of the pub. It was my first time in and I'd never go back.

Dry roast chicken, chewy beef, no veg but a sad carrot. Food was no good and place needed a bloody good clean. Wouldn't take 5 minutes to have a sweep outside. Staff were nice enough though

No offence to anybody but this place needs updating/redecorating and the toilets need a referub/repair, beer went do well tho.

Oh my lord! It was the worst food ever with a dirty and out of order toilets and spider webs on lamps.. The food was just heated in the microwave..

Used to be lovely and in a lovely spot and is reasonable enough. The building is also very nice. The service I couldn't really knock although the 2 Roast Dinners we ordered (albeit on a weekday) tasted like they were microwaved from the Sunday when you are too hungover to finish it and decide to have it on Monday for your dinner. Wouldn't go again to be honest. Not for food anyway.

We visit Vesper Gate regularly.The lady who manages does a fantastic job,always a smile,very helpful,nothing is too much trouble.She has brought the Phoenix back from the ashes,well done.

My partner and our 2 grandchildren got a drink and ordered our food, we ordered 2 burgers and cottage pie. We sat and waited for around half an hour when we was told that there was no cottage pie. My partner ordered the fish and chips. And anyone knows eating out with a 7 month old timing is everything, between feeds nappy changing and keeping them entertained. After around an hour and 10 min our food arrived. The fish and chips looked OK and my partner said it was OK but the burgers were dreadful, dry and tasteless never had a worse burger. With the long wait and disappointing food I can't see us returning. Maybe we just got a bad day but wouldn't want to waist my time and money to find out.

called in today after a long walk 4 of us ordered drinks 1st no waiting served straight away but to be fair it wasn't busy .we all ordered a meal all different I had special menue mince and dumplings chips cauliflower and carrots delicious served nice and hot my colleague had the same the others had sausage and mash and last one pie potato and veg he would have liked more gravy .The waitress was excellent very friendly will definitely go again
