Venus Bar & Brasserie in Merton

Since when were samosa and nachos considered French or even European FFS!!! this place is a charade and not worth wasting money on!

Five of us went for a birthday meal on a recommendation from a friend. We did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service. The atmosphere was great along with the unique decor, thank you for a lovely evening, we will be back soon!

I used to think this place was great till the manager started to hire underage girls as young as 16 to work behind the bar. Now it’s turned into a youth club with drugs being sold and taken in the bar. These poor little girls being bombarded with old men’s dirty comments about them when they’re not old enough to drink yet.

On arrival, we were not greeted by anyone. We were very confused on what to do or how to order because Covid has changed how places are run. When we figured it out the staff were not friendly at all. We were so excited to try this bar. The drinks sounded really good on the menu but upon trying them they were vile. Honestly not sure how they went so wrong. The food was also disgusting, bland and horribly textured. The website really hyped up this bar but it was extremely disappointing and I would not recommend to anyone. May be harsh but true.

I have been coming here for years. The atmosphere is friendly and the place is cozy. The prices are fair for the quality of food, which is great. My favourite here is by far the stake, it’s always cooked perfectly. The drinks are also reasonably priced, compared to the other pubs near by. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is ever too much for them.

Fuimos a cenar porque quedaba frente a nuestro hotel. Es un bar y cervecería con la posibilidad de almorzar y cenar. Tiene mesas y sillas altas, típicas de este tipo de establecimientos. Aunque no ofrecen cerveza tradicional británica se puede elegir entre dos marcas reconocidas. Cenamos muy bien y con un precio acorde. Exquisita lasagna. Buena atención del personal.

Staying at local hotel, lovely venue, cocktails and food, not rushed, made too feel very welcome. Waitress lovely, one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in, very reasonably priced.Watched tennis, drank cocktails for a few good hours, ate delicious food Would highly recommend.

Lovely meal and cocktails our first night here, friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, spent a few hours here and wasn't rushed, watching the tennis and listening to the music. Very relaxed atmosphere and comfty seats. Would highly recommend.

We’ve had a dinner with my partner last night. Steak to die for same as cauliflower cheese. Very nice atmosphere. Well priced and lovely staff 👌🏾

Every time my parents visiting me I take them to Venus Bar for dinner. Great cocktails, steak to die for. Atmosphere very friendly and warm.

First visit to the area and we stumbled upon Venus bar. It is very cosy but modern, clean and the decor is nice and fresh. The food was really good quality at a very reasonable price. The staff were very nice and friendly. The porn star martini cocktail jugs are the best!! Highly recommended.

Overpriced drinks and very unfriendly staff, unless you're a regular then the staff can't do enough for you. If it's your first visit there's nothing to encourage you to return. Better to go to Kiss Me Hardy or the Charles Holden. Lovely, friendly staff there and far cheaper.

This is my 'go to' place when meeting friends . Great food, warm and wonderful service. Cool music. I can't wait to go back <3

I have been coming to this place for years! The owner is the nicest person going and the drinks are fairly priced, to be honest the food is good priced as well. The nachos are my all time favourite. Really good for after work drinks and a good place to go to pre drink before a night out! I recommend!

Have eaten here 2 or 3 times now as staying in the area with work. Good food, lot of it homemade, portion sizes good. Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food. Sadly there has never been anyone else eating in there when I have been there (midweek) just a few people at the bar. Atmosphere somewhat lacking and could do with a bit more warmth in the restaurant Will certainly eat here again when in the area

Tuvimos una cena para dos adultos y dos niños. Niños y Adultos compartieron una lasaña que tanto adultos tenía un entrante y plato principal. La comida era de buena calidad y bien fresco muy disfrutadas por todos. Bill era de menos de 70 libras y los niños tenían un postre, 2 bebidas y adultos tenía 3 bebidas cada uno.

Been coming here over a year now as ease of access to and from home, the staff are always friendly, food is ok but at the price you can't really complain, drinks are reasonable compared to the Charles Holden where it's a joke and a few of the staff are rude, such a shame more people don't visit the Venus as its a lovely bar run by a tall friendly guy called Arthur, during the summer the whole of the front of the bar is open with sliding doors so can have a drink while watching the world go by

Nos hemos alojado en el Holiday Inn, un par de veces, pero esta fue la primera comida aquí. Temprano en la noche y no muchos otros comer aunque parecía ser algunos asiduos bebiendo en el bar, y también en la zona exterior. Mesas para comer hacia la parte trasera del lugar y luego cómodos sofás y mesas de bajo nivel en el frente.

The drinks are expensive, the staff are unfriendly, and the food is poor. There are better places nearby.

Buen ambiente y un buen servicio en la brasserie. Café que teníamos era muy agradable. Sin duda volveremos.

Convenient for tube while staying at the Holiday Inn across the road, this is a little place with a very nice menu, not at all pricey with pleasant and efficient staff.

After a long journey, my colleagues and I found the nearest place that served food which was Venus Bar and Brasserie.The food was really not good. I had the lamb shank with mash potatoes which I can only describe as an Iceland microwave lamb shank with Smash. My colleagues meals were also of this quality.We all ordered a beer which we sent back as it was flat and tasted sour (pipes hadn't been properly cleaned). The manager gave us a beer to replace which was nice (Becks Vier). After our food, we ordered a Cosmopolitan each. The alcohol in the drink tasted like very cheap vodka. I didn't finish mine.As much as the people were very friendly, I will not be visiting Venus again.

Fui recomendada por minha filha que trabalhou aqui quando morou em Londres.Gostei da comida e atendimento.É Um tipo de bar e também PUB. Tomei um drink no final da tarde , fica bem próximo residência do meu filho.Passei bons momentos.

opcion aceptable para comer algo al paso y tomar algo. capaz hay opciones de pubs por la zona que ofrecen mejores servicios.

Menu simple, lugar tipo bar y restaurant, mezcla, acogedor y comida rica, de precios medianamente elevados, pero esta todo mas o menos asi.

Uma mistura de restaurante, bar e pub, que possibilita agradar a vários públicos. O cardápio é bem variado e o ambiente despojado.

I've never really got this place as a bar it falls short of the Pubs in the area, as somewhere to eat it falls short of the places to eat. I suppose it serves the passing custom trade of the nearby bus stop and tube. Food menu is basic as are the selection of drinks, only redeeming features are the smoking area at the back and in the summer they can open the front and you can watch the world go by as you drink/eat.

Excellent meal for 7 of us - 2 adults, 5 teens. All catered for with extremely tasty food. Fantastic portions and very reasonable prices for London. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Only downside was that some of the meals came a long time after the rest of us served - not a problem for us, but it could have been for a less tolerant group.
