Vanakkam Lounge in Harrow

The moment we entered the restaurant the smell did not smell nice. But their service was alright. I asked for chicken kottu and 2 mutton biriyani's. The chicken kottu was amazing. BUT as soon as we received the mutton biriyani I instantly was dissapointed. The biriyani smelt burnt, but not only that the taste was BURNT. I made a big mistake i forgot to inform them. And also burnt biriyani for £8.00?! Unbelievable. When I used to go there many times I was impressed but this is the the first time the restaurant ever dissapointed me.

Can hold up to 50 persons. Food and service nothing to complain.

Visited on Sunday. It was closed when we arrived , even showing open in the map. But, they opened immediately when we called the contact number. We were alone in the dining area. It taken little more time to get the ordered foods. Prawns, mutton & chicken biryani ordered. All the other ingredients & taste were same instead of the difference of mutton, chicken & prawns in the respective dishes. We also had mango lassi, which was a good try. Overall good experience.

I took mutton kothu only 6 small pieces mutton I found waste my money they need to buy from other restaurants

Ordered from here like a few months back. I had family visiting me that particular day and decided we order some food from here. The guy on the phone didn’t tell me they were heavily short staffed that day. Made me wait nearly 3 hours for the food. I was absolutely fuming. Not good customer service.

One of the best Srilankan restaurant in UK. We went with the family the food was very delicious and very friendly staff and good location in harrow. I really recommend this restaurant for parties and catering.

This restaurant is terrible. The mains all arrived separately, one arrived in 10 minutes, the second 20 minutes and the third 30 minutes later....? one dish had to be sent back and I had to call the manager. They don't dosa's despite advertising them so dont' waste your time. There are many restaurants out there avoid this one at all costs!

Had a baby shower last week. They ruined the function. Food was delayed and curry served in a chuty bowel with TEA SPOON. One guy was trying to serve 40 people. All mess up. Agreed veg roll, samosa and Kesari. Served veg roll, samosa and vada. Vegiterian food agreed with 2 types of rice and 7 curries ( it is in their website menu list) but served 6 CURRIES ONLY. The lady ( hope she is the owner) who was talking to us giving several reasons. Fully rubbish service. Totally my function was spoiled Because of their service and food. RUBBISH .

We booked a place here in the morning and came from MK all the way here and were turned away because someone was having a private party. We travelled 89 miles for this restaurant. When we called in the morning they said it was ok and invited us but when we arrived they didn’t even let us in. If it was going to be a problem they should’ve gone said so in the morning instead of making us travel so far.

Paid only £8 for a mutton kottu rotti and 2 rolls! The food was delicious and plenty. Interesting decor

They do catering and big orders. They can provide more then 100 meal in a time. It Costs very less comparing to others.

The front desk staff all were professional and pleasant. Dining room for breakfast were nice and pleasant. We do not know when will be our next visit to Prague but sure we shall return to this lovely place. Already recommended your hotel to a few of our friends.

Hats off !!! to the service & food. They care about customer and the food is freshly made. I love the biryani, Mogo, veg and mutton rolls. They have loads of varieties next time will be trying more dishes, love the place and the staffs. Very homely environment.100% recommendable for Srilankan/South Indian food. 💕🙏🏻

I really enjoyed the food in the restaurant and it’s a comfortable and relaxing place to eat the meal. I was absolutely blown away by the friendless of staff and they have the best customer service. The foods are made freshly and served with care. Table decorations are mesmerising and it’s a worthy restaurant to visit often. well priced can’t ask for anything else. Quality is very good for the price.Tables spaced very well and immaculate everywhere. One of the top notch Sri Lankan restaurant in london. ❤️❤️

Had a chicken Biryani which tasted nothing like a chicken biryani. Left most behind me. Friend had a chicken curry with a curry sauce that looked like dark brown gravy with curry powder thrown in. Whole thing was awful. Wouldn’t come back. Waitress couldn’t speak good English.

Nice food its not very busy at all it has minimal space and when we went we had to stand outside because they had to rearrange tables for more customers they take very long to serve and prepare the food as well as the starter the drinks are minimal and they are not stated in the menu the menu is rather small and the price is mediocre not expensive nor is it cheap but i would lean more to the cheap side the taste is not very exquisite but its not bad for any people who are not familiar to Indian food BUT OMG THEIR LIGHTING IS SOO NICE AND IS COSY BUT i saw a n ant running around on the high chair in the corner .

The restaurant toilet was stinking and made the restaurant too was stinking; when we asked the owner said he said it was down to the property maintenance which can not be right and also said made a complain to them about 3 weeks ago. If they can't sort it they should have closed till they sorted out. Very poor service; They left food without folks and knives and napkins; There were only couple of customers yet a poor service.

Food not great and service was bad. Took so long to get food and we were the only people there (2 of us) food was too salty and undercooked. No napkins or water offered. Cleaning supplies were left next to the tables. wouldn't go back

Rubbish foods and services ever ..just change the name harin to vanakkam.. Me and my friends went there and asked medium spicy foods ..OMG it was very very spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 and we order another non spicy mutton fried..it was same terrible hot..finally we had dinner in Sam's chicken... No more vanakkam..👎👎

Looking around South Harrow, not sure where to eat then we were recommended this Indian restaurant, absolutely brilliant, great atmosphere great staff and most importantly really great food, my friends and me all had Sri Lankan Baigan, Aubergine marinated with ground spices with mustard seeds curry leaves.Then Non veg starters Mutton Rolls,Crispy spiced pastry with minced mutton filling with potatoes.Breads items are good and menu looks lengthy.Butter Nan, Chilies cheese Nan, Garlic Nan we tasted and it was fantastic. Typical South Indian Biriyani was an highlights. Prawn Biriyani,Veg, Hyderabadi Lamb Biriyani were taken and shared.Devilled Prawn and Devilled Squid also added to our menu.Its a well satisfied menu of foods they offer. Seafood,Veg and Non Veg Starters, Srilankan dishes,Bread, Biriyanis .price range is ok , location wise easy to find, reservation and time allocation superb.we spend 2 or 3 hours there Food is great and very good value with the staff friendly and helpful All in all a very nice ambience. Highly recommended to you !!

It was a desire of long time to taste the wide ranged indian dishes.It happened during a solo wandering in Harrow. I just got into Vanakkam Lounge,a small indian shop and was surprised by its quiet atmosphere. I started my lunch with a starter of Prawn fries. They said it as devilled Prawn and delivered quickly. It was fantabulous actually! Never had such a spicy and crispy starter! While concentrating on Indian cuisine i ordered a plate Of Hyderabadi Lamb Biriyani. The smell itself was mouthwatering and overwhelming! Eating such a delicious indian dish from UK was my fantasy for long time.Biriyani,Prawn fries & an Ice-cream salad summed up my lunch there. Food was amazing!! Service and Ambience were also good enough.

Good food and excellent service , one of the finest south Indian food that I had. Atmosphere inside restaurant was nice. I ordered a Vegetarian soup it was spicy and I loved it. Then I ordered mutton biriyani which was a suggest from my friend and tried it didn't disappointed me it was good . Overall I loved it. Price was negotiable

Gone downhill. Bad service and food is more generic. Don't do any naan bread on weekdays!

The place is not as it used to be. The tables were sticky, the plates dirty, the menu had food sticking on the pages, they only had two drinks (Coke and mango drink), there was no toilet seat, the waiter was very unattentive. At least the food was good, therefore two stars. Won't come again

Few customers but had to wait too long. Plates and spoons were not clean, found hair in the dish and when complained stuff been really rude with me and my girlfriend !!! Never ever going there again

Rude!!!!. Only wanted some chapati's but the waiter/server kept trying to get me to order from the main menu. Mumbling and pointing at the menu and seeming confused by my request.The waiter seemed extremely uninterested in serving me. After 5 minutes standing around I was told they don't have any. I asked for a Naan bread and was mumbled at "we don't have any" again. Not sure if this was due to the fact he couldn't be bothered to make it or whether it was a race thing and my face didn't fit. Others were eating lunch and seemed happy enough. I left empty handed. Avoid this miserable place.
