Val's Thai in Enfield

We ordered quite a few dishes and they were all bland. The only dish I enjoyed is pictured, the chefs special Luxury Sesame Prawn Toast. Its a Thia restaurant in a pub, the atmosphere was pub like cheerful. The female bar tender & waitress were cheerful & people in the pub enjoying themselves, but the food let the experience down. For people who don't eat Thai food might like it with their alcoholic beverages, just to eat Thai I won't recommend. I have provided pictures of few of their main dish, sorry even the fired squid lacked seasoning. I would like to return to the pub and enjoy the environment with my colleagues from work. would not recommend the food, except the Luxury Sesame Prawn Toast. Please do not get fooled by the table Q discount, its the removal of service charge not the discount on food. The service to the table at a dine-in restaurant should be free, the extra care is what we as customer should tip, its an gimmick.

Have eaten at Val's Thai a couple of times and also ordered several takeaways. Been impressed every time with the quality and wide choice of the food and also to be able to order dishes that I have not eaten elsewhere such as such as the pumpkin red curry, coconut shrimp and sesame prawn toast. I think the cuisine at Val's is very authentic and like the crossover with Malaysian and Chinese dishes but then Thai food is also a blend of different influences. Generous portion sizes too and prices are reasonable. Good value.

We tried Val’s Thai tonight after reading the great reviews here on Google. Unfortunately we weren’t that impressed by the food - Penang Curry was decent but the Pad Thai was lacking any taste or flavour. Also, what we found was that it’s actually part of a rather loud Hop Poles pub - not quite the dining experience we were expecting.

Just had the most delicious meal here. Perfectly cooked wings and the tastiest Thai curry I’ve ever had. Lush atmosphere and Val makes it feel like you’re having a meal in her home. Will defo be back!

Just had food delivered and can honestly say this is the worst Thai I've ever eaten. £22 odd for a steak that claims to be wagyu that was paper thin, bland, overcooked, cold and barely the size of my palm. Veg red curry had a few peppers and beans in and 2 pieces of tofu... I didn't order tofu!! Tried calling direct but no reply... Rest of the food edible at best but a microwave Thai from Sainsbury's would have been a much better option.. Whom ever replies to these reviews claims the chefs are experts and Val was born in Bangkok?? What are they experts in because I don't think it's cooking and was it Val's day off?

The food was amazing and came very quickly. Staff were very friendly. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Will definitely be back

Had the most delicious lunch at Val’s Thai on Saturday. The quality of the food, presentation and service is impeccable. Miss it at your peril. Easy to park and very attentive bar staff

Disgusting food, overpriced and overrated! Food has no taste! I’ve been to most Thai restaurants in London and Northern England, as an old foodie. I would say that very few Thai restaurants have such unprofessional cooking. Rice is still raw, it’s sticky outside and hard inside, which means they started stir-frying when the rice was not cooked well. Fried rice should use overnight well-cooked rice, this is a common sense in Asian cooking! For a portion of curry in this suburb place, even without rice, they charge you £10-15 central London prices! Oh my gosh! Their staff used a threatening way of talking to claim their food is great, and blaming on customers’ taste. I know different Thai restaurants have different recipes, but this is not the excuse for their bad cooking. They kept stressing that the food was authentic, cooking was fine blablabla, without any apology. The service and interior are not too bad, but at £20-30 per person it's definitely not worth it in this area. Normally, a meal in a restaurant in Enfield costs £10-20 per person and £7-10 for a takeaway.

Spice spot on!! We are loving the pumpkin curry dish!! Just tried the special ox cheek rendang and it's delicious. Easy to order from, preordering made so simple and can pay cash which is a bonus! Oh and when you phone. Its actually a person who answers and the team are polite and so accommodating with me adding extra to my order. Prompt on time too

Delicious food, very authentic, fresh and flavourful. Penang curry and coconut shrimp is particularly good. Excellent service too. Recommend a takeaway as it is in quite a loud pub.

Honestly. It's OK at best. Expected so much more considering the reviews. People haven't really experienced enough Thai food. The only thing that felt authentic was the Singha Beer

Vals Thai lived up to it's reputation and more!! We dined in for our meal and it was family friendly, amazing menu, full of flavour and made with love. The portions were plentiful and we can't wait to return. We had the privilege of meeting Val and she is such a lovely lady, very hospitable and happy to recommend dishes. Val has years of chef experience and her love of making dishes her own which she describes as comes through in her meals she creates. It is also good to know that she also caters parties off site and also in their 80 person hall with garden on site. We can't recommend enough and cannot wait to return with the children xx

Hands down the best Thai food delivery I have had. The quality and freshness is spot on. The Oxcheek Randang and the Wagyu beef stir fry were outstanding. As are the coconut shrimps! Crispy and juicy. Difficult to achieve in a delivery. I am a chef in London and Thai is one of my favourite foods, you have me beat. I look forward to eating in one day. Kudos.

What an amazing find, the pub itself is very basic so wasn't expecting much. Had a dinner for 4 people and the food was genuinely amazing much better than I've had in some very expensive restaurants. Val and her husband were both really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Really authentic Thai food prepared and cooked beautifully. We will definitely be eating there again

The taste of Thailand in Enfield! Every dish was full of vibrant flavours and colours! Ingredients were fresh and tasted delicious. I would highly recommend ordering from Val’s Thai!

The restaurant is in a pub and you get the whole pub atmosphere, especially when an important game is on, so this might not be for everyone, but it is a very friendly atmosphere. The service was good and we even had a visit from the chef, which was a nice touch. I am giving it a four star because I rarely give five stars, but trust me it's a place to visit for Thai food and the added bonus is that the pub does live band music with security at the door (this was a Saturday). The food was very tasty, with all three of us enjoying our different options. Drinks were bought from the pub so it's really good for a few quick drinks before your meal.

First order via Ubereats. I was tempted by the beautiful photography and eloquent descriptions as I'm in marketing myself so can appreciate the effort that goes into standing out online. I ordered stir fried king prawn cashew nuts as it's a dish I'm comfortable with from various establishments so thought this would be a fairer comparison than a random dish I was unfamiliar with. I would say this was no worse, no better quality than other takeaways once you lose the pretty pictures and it comes in the standard plastic tub. It was, however, slightly more expensive and incredibly salty, like a potent MSG kind of salty which lingers and spoils the prawns. The crab rice was a pricey side dish at £8.95 so I expected something with high quality ingredients, but this was blandly anaemic and uninspiring in flavour, just salty sticky rice with tiny bits of beige mushy crab and almost zero greenery as shown in the photos - and padded out with cheap crabsticks which are not mentioned on the listing (allergy risk because they are made of fish). Some bits of spring onion were tough and papery, so inedible. Giving 3 stars for now as nothing was overcooked or oily etc, but I do feel let down for the price.

Terrific Thai Curry We really enjoyed our meal at Val’s Thai. We shared starters of Steamed Chicken & Vegetable Dumplings and Crispy Duck Spring Rolls. My mum had Prawns Green Thai Curry and I had the Red one. The prawns was perfectly cooked and portions were very generous. I highly recommend this spot.

I finally tried Val's Wagyu beef with black been sauce and is just wonderful, so full of flavour and tender. Not only Val is a good cook but she is also a very welcoming host and I highly recommend her food, if you like to have it a la carte or take away, she will make your day with her nurishing food.

Amazing menu choices, fresh ingredients, and so flavourful! As close as it gets to a home kitchen. Never too oily. We order direct on their website, and food is never late. Hannah, brought ours within 20 minutes of the order! Plentiful Vegetarian and vegan choices too. Very tasty spring rolls that are freshly made from scratch.

Some of the best Thai food I've had since I came back from Thailand. That was thirty years ago and I've had lots of Thai food since. Wonderful tastes and aromas, just like the real thing - because it is the real thing.

Fantastic dining in experience. Food was excellent and freshly prepared. It was a lovely celebration for my birthday. I ordered the Penang Curry and it was excellent. Have order as takeaway and dined in. Both orders were great. They are very flexible with any changes you would like for your order and our waitress Shannon was very helpful. HIGHLY RECOMEND!

It was a lovely place to eat! Val is so friendly & made sure all our food was top notch! As it's part of the pub, it has a nice chill atmosphere, but we still got true authentic Thai! The food was great, we could ask for it to be more spicy or not, which was good, and they cater to any dietary requirements. She brought out crackers to start, & was chatty which was lovely. AMAZING food in Enfield! We ordered starters, which included salt and pepper chicken wings, satay chicken, and sesame prawn toast. Fresh and tasty! Everything is freshly prepared on the premises and you can eat in at Hop Poles pub in Enfield or get food delivered locally. Sesame prawn toast was amazing - a mound of prawn mix on a cute square of toast - it all tasted delicious. They also have seasonal specials, so you know that the ingredients are fresh. I can't wait to return for more!

Food was great, chicken skewers were nicely cooked with an appetising Color and a good satay dip, spring rolls crunchy and a great portion, katsu curry was a perfect consistency and had a great flavour. The chicken was separate so it was nice and crispy..

Really nice atmosphere, arrived before restaurant was open but no issue and our meal was cooked, fresh to order. Food was really good. Massamam curry was excellent as was wagu beef, the dipping sauces just perfect, loads of flavour. Really worth a visit.

I have eaten here often since the beginning and me and my children have never been disappointed with a meal. Everything is done to perfection and we will order again every week. Thank you to Val and team for all of your amazing meals.

Best Thai food ever!! The most delicious meal at Val’s Thai. My partner and I both highly recommend the katsu curries (both tofu and chicken). The variety of starters are great too. Highly recommend for fresh and authentic Thai food. Can’t wait to order again already!

Absolutely incredible, just the most amazing flavours balanced to perfection with exquisite ingredients and the best part - fantastic value. You will simply not find wagyu steak at these prices, and to have it locally in Enfield is such a delight. What a place.

Over priced for what you get. Salt and pepper squid looks and tastes the same as the frozen version from aldi. Jasmine rice isn’t jasmine rice it smells and tastes like steamed rice and the portion is small for the price. Curry and pad Thai are okay

1st experience of Vals Thai food, random order of squid then king prawn Thai green curry with jasmine rice. So glad I ordered! Lovely people, so friendly and helpfu, nothing too much trouble. Did a collect as in area, had heard great things, all true!! Highly recommend, will certainly try again soon.

We have ordered Val's for delivery several times and have always been impressed. This review is for dining in at the Hop Poles pub and having dinner there. It was lovely, immediately after ordering a round of drinks at the bar and taking a table we were greeted and given menus, and as always when ordering from Val's menu I was at a loss of what to order... It all looks so good! The Crab fried rice is a favourite, and this time I had the hanger steak, recommended to be served rare (just how I like my beef) and served with a zingy and spicy dipping sauce. Val was lovely and was a very gracious host, happy to indulge us in conversation of her career and what led to the kitchen at the Hop Poles opening. The pub on a Friday is a good vibe and live music began around 9pm, to which we all had a good time. Will return soon!

I've been ordering take aways from here since lock down and it's far the best Thai resturant in the area - you won't find better quality.

Val's Thai has been a fantastic revelation! The food is amazing (loved the Katsu curry chicken and pork and prawn dumplings) and the service was excellent and they made us feel very welcome. I recommend her cuisine without any hesitation. Thank you very much, Val. You'll definitely see me again!

The loveliest Thai food I ever ate. Also had a pleasure to meet Val in Person. I'd give her 10 stars.

Rubbish. Vegetable steamed dumplings arrived with meat in them, vegetable Pad Thai was just noodles in oil and arrived without any tofu in it, (said with tofu on the menu) nothing even closely resembling what a Pad Thai should taste like, and the Chicken Massaman was “tasteless” according to my mother, and we all know that mothers are always right ;) It was mainly coconut milk and little else. This place seems to be relying on customer ignorance to keep in business, and providing imitations of Thai food without knowing what it actually should taste like. Generally a very very poor attempt at Thai food, clearly the establishments fancies itself as trying to compete with The Meeting but without the interest in providing actual genuine or good Thai food. I’ve also noticed that the owners don’t respond to negative feed back, which lets me know they’re not very interested in customer satisfaction, customer service or providing quality for the customer’s money. Won’t be eating from here again.

I have been asked to amend me review. As it may have been a touch on the hasty side. Therefore, my experience was not a good one, and given 1star as the delivery girl smiled when she gave me vals attempt on Thai.
