Loved our first visit to Vaibhavam today! From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly polite and attentive, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. The service was top-notch — efficient, friendly, and thoughtful throughout. The dosas were perfectly crispy, and paired beautifully with the 3 chutneys and sambar. We finished our meal with the filter coffee which was popular too! The decor added to the charm — stylish, clean, and inviting with a lovely ambiance that made the meal even more enjoyable. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend

This is a jewel of a restaurant to visit. Pure authentic flavours, and you can tell the food is created with passion and expertise. This is also a licensed restaurant, so they do have a bar to serve drinks. They reopened in January 2025 and still run by by a brilliant couple who aim to provide customers with a truly delicious experience. The Dosa's are a must to try, tasty and filling and huge.... The main meals are created to order as this isn't a huge restaurant so not mass produced food like some restaurants, and you can tell the difference as cooked to perfection. I can't rate this place high enough, full credit to the passion of the husband and wife team who run it. There are some new dishes on the menu and it is best to book ahead as this is a popular venue. Just one note, it is currently cash only, and dishes are very reasonably priced, so great value and very filling.

I recently booked Vaibhavam for our housewarming party, and I must say, their service and food were exceptional. I tried Kerala porotta(seems frozen porotta heated).Ordered Gongura chicken extra spicy along , it was definitely spicy but not tasty.Ordered chilly paratha n chilli chicken dry.Ate it only because we ordered it and paid for it.Non veg isn't tasty as expected .Was happy to spot an indian restaurant nearby but disappointed.Service was okay but the ladies were in a rush to take the plates back before we finish. The ATM besides charge extra money for withdrawal.Makesure you carry money if ever you plan to visit.

I have been in Birmingham for the past 2.5 years, and this is by far the best South Indian food I’ve had. My wife and I visited during Valentine’s Week for the first time. What attracted us to the restaurant was not just the food but also the ambiance, music, taste, and hospitality—we absolutely loved it. The owner personally came to ask for feedback, ensuring everything was okay, and later, the server also checked in and even offered a top-up, which is rare these days as most places serve limited portions or charge extra. My wife and I both loved the experience and will definitely visit again, bringing my colleagues along as well.

There was neither salt nor spice. This was so bad that my partner had vomitings after coming back home and I'm also feeling 🤢 😷. They take cash only It's 2025! Highly suspicious If someone is taking cash only in 2025 ! Because even local barbers in 3rd world countries take card payments now! Edit: response to business. Thank you so much for your response. Dosa was very good, thank you for the food. Cash is a legal tender as you explained and I have not mentioned anything to deny that, however there are other factors like ease for customers and flexibility of payment and hence my ratings which I am within my rights. Cash handing fees etc is often higher as compared to card handing fees so I am within my rights to think if a particular business without flexibility of payment indeed has other reasons to charge cash only in the 21st century. Those reasons can range from for example a high corporate tax of 25% and Employers NI contributions.

Only recently reopened after a gap of a year, we found this lovely little South Indian gem. Nice decor and a warm atmosphere with friendly service. Food was freshly made and delicious- we chose masala dosa and vegetarian curry with pilau rice and roti. The rice was the best we have tasted, really fragrant. We will definitely be back!

i ordered a takeaway and got a tiny portion of sauce. I expected much better. The food was cold when I got home too. Never again. Is that why they've been closed for months. Update 1: they try to tell me to update the review and make me look foolish or even lying because they've been closed since Feb 2024. I visited them in 2023 and this review is accurate. Update 2: it said on their profile they're closing for "2-3 weeks from Feb 2024". It is now Jan 2025. They're still closed.

Bit of a dearth of South Indian eateries in Birmingham but Vaibhavam fills the gap very well. Really well cooked authentic food served in smart, spotless surroundings. I'll be back after lockdown to have a proper sit-down meal :-)

We visited the restaurant when it was open. The ambience was good, but we wished the hospitality was better. We kept standing near the entry door for a long time without anyone noticing us and informing us whether to wait, how long to wait. Later on when a table was available and we proceeded to take that, we were informed that prebooking was necessary. And also it is cash only restaurant. We traveled from a long distance. And the hospitality put us off.

I tried to call give my dosa order today and the lady on ph was very rude . She said why I am calling her and she said she was in meeting . But if you have business contact number you have on your website so it’s common sense customer will call you on that number . I am just surprised how they run their business ! So if there is 0 option review for that then I will give that .

Food was so less I ordered masala dosa and aloo inside was so less it was really not worth and all the chutneys were so less wait I would say extremely less and also there was no repeatition of chutneys if it’s over you just have to eat everything dry. And this restaurant doesn’t except card just needs cash. Please mention this outside the gate . And please increase quantity of food. Really not worth it guyz. You will not be satisfied

One of the best South Indian Food in Birmingham. The sambar vada and dosas are really good. End your meal with a nice south indian filter coffee. The spice and taste bursts just reminded me of back home. Absolutely recommended. 😄

Great place to experience Indian cuisine with appropriate taste

Non-welcoming, grumpy, slow and incomplete service: We were in Birmingham exclusively on a food tour. We had a good anticipation and wanted to have our lunch in this place after seeing the google reviews. It was definitely not a pleasant experience. They had a problem inside the kitchen and that spilled over to the customers that day. We could hear from the washing area, people shouting at each other in the kitchen. 1) Firstly, this place accepts only cash payment. We were asked to withdraw cash from an ATM machine outside the restaurant paying extra charge(commission). This machine is related to this eatery probably (Registered to Sudiksha foods). 2) Though we did not reserve a table in advance, they had joined two tables and accommodated 4 of us. That was the only positive thing in their service. 3) The reception of customers was pathetic. Do not even about a smiling face. 4) We had ordered fish curry, chicken chettinadu, parotta, steamed rice, masala dosa and coffee. We had also asked for vada. The service was very very slow, we were fine with that as it would take time to freshly prepare things. Dosa was good but in the sides, except the red chutney (tomato/onion) everything else was bad including the sambar. Chicken chettinadu and Parotta were really good. While the fish curry was mediocre, improperly seasoned and the fish did not take in the flavours. I wanted to take away Chepala pulusu (Nellore tangy fish curry), but did not dare to do that after seeing the first one and the time they take. We did not receive vada, when asked the supplier she went back and came back to us saying that we had not ordered. I had to remind her the following words "We had asked you whether you serve freshly prepared vada or a reheated one." She recollected it but did not respond whether she would bring one or not. Not even a simple apology. My wife had requested them to give aloo masala by the side of dosa instead of adding it inside as it may make the dosa soggy. Their answer was that they can not do it. She did not get half of her order (vada) and remining half in a way the she wont like it. Left the place without have having sufficient food. Over all, it was a bad experience for us. On the other hand, this is the only place where they did not add the optional service charge in the bill.

Food was spicy, tasty and authentic. Service was ok but disappointed that my booking wasn't remembered and we had to squash ourselves in. The place was packed so a good friendly atmosphere but they need to expand... Which is always a good thing. Portions are small for curries so bear that in mind. Overall was impressed.. bust environment points to good food and service so will be coming again... Just need to iron out the kinks when it's busy.

Very small but friendly restaurant which is a no frills cafe style establishment. Our server throught was attentive, charming and informative. Our shared Mysore Masala Dosa starter was excellent, mouth watering and spicy enough to satisfy someone who grows their own Habenero, Scotch Bonnet & Naga chillies(hot, hot, hot!) Mains were spicy, fragrant and delicious. I had the lamb chettinadu. The lamb was tender as you like and the curry sauce was a total assault on the taste buds. My wife had the kodi vepudu which was equally moorish but more tempered! If you've never eaten South Indian cuisine before, this is the place to try it. One dosa is enough for a mains for one person! Good food even better if more ATTENTION TO DETAIL Service gave me mixed opinions... A young waitress was an easy five star with great manners and consideration. However the manager would always be seen as angry, unemotional, inconsiderate and looking for an argument be it with customers or staff. Atmosphere would have been given a 5 if not for the reasons above...

Reaally bad place, do not recommend. South indian coffee was more milk thank coffee.] Food is too dry, more like chinese than indian. Even the biryani was most basic and was so bland andhad the driest chicken i have ever had. Cash only place - dodgy for a company that has a VAT number. Questionable.

Not the best experience for a south Indian place. Kerala style fish curry is not even related to kerala and the amount of coriander leaves in every dish is despicable. In today's time, every restaurant accepts card payment. But this restaurant is cash only.

Service could be a lot better. Starters were not that great. Chicken in Briyani was very chewy and rough. The Naan and the Andhra kodi kura tasted amazing. The restaurant is not kids(infant) friendly.

We went in for lunch today - we ordered vegetarian and all of the items were just delicious, no complaints. The food was authentic, the service was quick despite being busy considering its a Sunday afternoon, and the starters, main course and desserts were just perfect. Highly recommended.

Went for a family dinner while on our way from Wales. Ambience, food service and food quality was great, however, we were a bit disappointed with the portion size of the Aubergine curry (this was a main dish with just 2 aubergines of 2/3 inches big), chutneys served with the dosa and idly (they ran out of batter so served 2 idly instead of 3 but charged us the full money). Chicken chettinadu was yummy and so was the mysore masala dosa.

Food is yummy, and cleanliness is dead. Would recommend focus on cleaning - glasses are dirty, table is sticky and toilets are horrible.

Must visit if you are visiting Birmingham Balaji Temple. Book ahead as this place is mostly fully booked. We didn’t book but turned up.The manager was understanding and accommodated us quickly and the service was excellent. Food was authentic South Indian. Do try methi chicken and Masala Dosa and South indian filter coffee. Excellent Service and good atmosphere.

By far the best dosas I had in UK, bursting with authentic flavours. Mysore Masala Dosa deserves a special mention. Paneer dosa was also full of flavour. Easy on pocket. Service was good too. Manager seemed angry for some reason, but rest of the staff were great.

Excellent local South Indian restaurant. Great dosas and other options if you wanted something else - we all opted for dosas! Good choice for vegetarians! Good size portions. Went mid week and it was busy which is always a good sign! Would recommend!

The place and their food makes us feel very close to home. Customer friendly , polite and very welcoming. The food, service , atmosphere is 10/10.

Quite disappointing actually. We visited there after reading the reviews and ordered filter coffee and Andhra style chili chicken and ghee roast dosa and veg biryani. The chili chicken was not at all Andhra style. They served Chinese chili chicken. I specifically asked for it to be spicy. The person serving us mentioned that it would be too spicy if they added extra spicy. Turns out that it tastes sweet ! We specifically asked for the South Indian filter coffee to be served first before food but it turns out that they kept delaying and we were done with food by the time it arrived. Ghee roast dosa was very good in fact and the one thing we enjoyed. The vegetable biryani was bland and hardly any vegetables! Very disappointing. More like tons of ghee poured on steamed rice with a couple of peas and small bits of beans. I didn't feel the cuisine was anywhere south Indian. Sorry it was our first visit and disappointing.

We'd booked a table for 3 and they were going to put us on a table for 2 with n extra chair! In the end we got a bigger table - thankfully. Starters weren't very good but mains were better. portions were small. Waiter was lovely but it was pretty chaotic and slow.

The manger/supervisor is not at all accommodating and doesn’t tolerate any changes like- separate aloo masala rather than putting it into the dosa. He is rude and uptight and doesn’t know how to treat customer. Food- average.

Excellent food and service a wonderful little gem

We visited here on our friends recommendation Food quality was fine but the service was horrible as we had to wait more than half hour for the order to served. My 18 month old was hardly getting adjusted to the restaurant and the late service made it more worse 😕

My first impression of this place. The food was very good, the service even better. The staff looked accommodating, however let me warn you of the cashier/owner. We planned a lunch in this south indian restaurant eventually. Randomly, Vaibhavam came up the google search with good ratings. This was the first time we visiting the restaurant. We enjoyed all the items we ordered. Mysore masala dosa was the best I have ever tasted bht overall it was an awesome and delicious experience. This would be one of the top option to try out south indian authentic taste. The flavour were so delicious and filling. They customised the spiciness based on request made. Only issue is with the card payment, it is a cash only place. On your next visit, keep this in mind. I recommend to give it a try and it will be your tasteful experience.

Ordered chicken, fish, paneer starters.. Chilli chicken n paneer are way too sweet.. Same Sauces for both veg n non veg. Fish 65 is deep fried like French fries.. Not at all a typical fish 65 recipe. Chicken Biryani - definitely not freshly made. Taste is not great at all. Portion sizes are not too much n not too less. Overall not a restaurant I'd want to come back.

First time visit. Very busy every table was full. The Dosa were lovely. Helpful and thoughtful staff. We will return. Home made food.

Excellent quality of food, with a wide menu. As a vegetarian, it was an excellent meal, and I have been there twice since. Would recommend. Take cash, as they do not accept credit or debit cards!

The food here is the best South Indian food I've had in the whole of the Birmingham and surrounding area. Everything I've tried here was tasty and authentic. Vegetarians and Vegans have to try this. Dishoom wasn't very good, Ashas also wasn't that good and Indico too isn't that nice, Aama Dosa's food is OK but it doesn't have a good ambience, Chennai dosa again lacks ambience. I've been searching for good south Indian food, and I've been to many recommended restaurants but they all lack something. Vaibhavam is the only all round good experience I found. Thier food is more authentic, fresh and with natural ingredients. And I know this food, cause I grew up eating this food in India. This is my go to place for a good South Indian meal, and Shri Krishna Vada Pav in Solihull for good South Indian snacks.

Terrible experience, pathetic service and very un-hygiene premises. I would suggest do not go if you are really hungry!! Rice quantity is kid meal size, and the lady was very rude when asked if we were mistaken, We have ordered South Indian food-fish pulusu, prawn fry, chicken curry and mutton drumstick pulusu.. all meat tastes same since the gravy is same for any curry. Only single good thing was taste was a bit okay ish. But would never go there! Strongly recommend not to go here.

Food is ok but customer service is pathetic. Twice we went there and both times disappointing. Responding to owners reply: Dined sometime last year and year before that, dont remember exact date but it was owners' birthday and we were the only ones left in the restaurant just waiting for final course during lunch time. Ignoring our presence all the staff started celebrating the birthday and we had to wait 20 mins before we decided to cancel our dessert order, paid the bill and left with no acknowledgement from you that it was unprofessional. Similar thing happened when we dined before that and i thought maybe we were in a group of 15, in a small restaurant, they couldn't handle it. But a repeat of it and similar stories with other customers is not a co-incidence. Bottom line: felt like you are doing us a favour by letting us eat your food and paying for it. This is the last thing I expect from a restaurant.

Fantastic service, great ambience and authenic taste. Family run business and local South Indian Receipe made specifically by the lady owner, and this culinary smell and taste would suit all, including the whole of the British Culture. The price is nominal and excellent value for money. We also had take away and indulged for the next 4 meals with that takeaway, Location is a quiet residential area and plenty of parking faciities. It was very first time to visit this restaurant with my friends. The cashier was so mean, he told us to park the car in line which we couldn’t even see. And he seems unhappy always. We felt so awkward.There was no option for paying by card which most of the customers find difficult. And still charging 1.25 Pound for that bloody cash point outside the restaurant. Bloody genius. Not coming back anyways.

Never go here! This shop is an unhygienic place. They use too much coloring chemicals in the starters. And the lady, I believe she is the owner! Literally she behaves so arrogant to me. They don't treat the customers well. Not recommended at all!!! The place is too small for families to sit in. Better look for something better BARSANA is a good option nearby. What happened at restaurant? As a customer I have the right to reject a food which is not up to the health standards for me. And i just gave advice to u, to treat customers politely. If ur business needs to grow, u have to understand that the customer is always RIGHT attitude and DONT argue with any customer that what you are doing is RIGHT. The food was good. Although the quantity was very less for the price. I am giving one rating because the owner was rude when we entered and informed about the table booking time. We said 9 instead of 9:30 by mistake and he instantly said no table at 9 and we can’t let u in harshly. He could have been polite enough to tell that 9:30 is the time that you have booked. The waiter also kept dropping spoons and tissues while bring to the table. All these made us to decide not to visit the restaurant again anytime soon.

Every time I come here I always forget to leave a review. The dosa is my main item I come for but also the chicken tikka (Amazing). The filling in the dosa I would expect a little more filling but overall the food here is absolutely fantastic, I always come here for my masala dosas and it’s a lovely little cozy place to have dinner with family or a small group. Look forward to coming again soon.

I went to celebrate one of my friends Birthday and I had heard a lot about this restaurant.. however it was totally waste. Although we were late however we waited for more than an hour to get seats even though there was not enough seating. Moreover it went very bad because owner has no skills how to do customer service and how to run Business.. She is arrogant and has no sense of customer service. I would not recommend to host or book for any event because its very small and doesn't have enough space to host even a small gathering of 10 people. We were asked to sit 8 people at place of 6 people and it was too congested. No body enjoyed food because everyone hands were hitting each other. We could have enjoyed it in better way if Owner has customer service training. Employee were really good and just because of them we gave a second thought to have lunch else we were already planning to go another place.

Food & customer service s good ..

After long time we had an excellent Indian flavour food in UK. Spice level were right for us but for the local people, please be aware and ask the chef according to your preference. Overall good food with real Indian flavour. Another cash only restaurant but the owner is clever, and placed an ATM machine at the door step to withdraw money at a price of 0.99p. Now the ATM withdrawal charge is increased to 1.99£.

Authentic South Indian restuarant. Overall tast of the food is very nice and ambience is good. Bit pricey for the quanity served. Definetly recommend :-)

Nice South Indian restaurant having good food and good staff. We go there often and order mostly dosa so overall experience was great and prices were reasonable.

An amazing little authentic restaurant 😍 delicious food!! Plenty of vegan options, the owner was extremely helpful and friendly in helping my son and partner with their choice of dishes! Great value for money, good portion sizes! We can't wait to return!! 😋🙏✨️

Good food. Biriyani was bit spicier than expected. Loved the egg fried rice and chettinad chicken.

Gave 3 stars as one thing was perfect which was food. The big downside was it is Cash only. Thankfully we had car as none of the closby Atm's were working and we had to go one mile away to take cash out .

Went there without a reservation and didn't get a decent experience because we got a seating somewhere near the washroom. Wasn't pleasant as the kids found it quite uncomfortable and stuffy. No compromise with respect to quality of food. It's promising. Had to even ask for bill thrice and finally get to wait and pay at the counter. It might be a different experience if you have reserved and attend when the crowd is less.

I love to eat south Indian food especially dosa, I almost tried everywhere around Birmingham but this is the first place where I’m stopping my search for South Indian food.I must visit again and again and I recommend to everyone must visit. Staff is very nice, atmosphere is very calm.
