¡Vuelvo enseguida! ?

We were warmly received as we stepped across the threshold at the top of the stairs. We walked into the peaceful quiet of the meeting hall with the calming statue of the Buddha. From there we went back into the shop and cafe area and chose gifts for friends from amongst the statuettes, joss stick holders and hand-painted cups. After that we sat and enjoyed a wholesome soup and bread in these peaceful surroundings. When we come back to Dundee again we'll definitely return here once more. Well worth a visit and the short climb up the stairs.

Had some lunch with friends, food was so delicious and fresh. The furntiutre is hand made from recycled palettes and the spacious, light atmosphere is refreshing. It is such a homely relaxing space that is so welcome in Dundee city.

We stumbled upon this unique cafe and werelooking in the window when a young couple outside told us we should definitely go in ! They were right. It was so welcoming. The guy who served us was so friendly. The coffee was lovely but oh my goodness the cakes were outstanding. Absolutely a treat no doubt. Such a unique place. Lovely feeling about it and we will most surely be back

My daughters booked a table as a Mother's day gift. We were fully aware that we only had an hour to enjoy the food and our get together. Upon booking the tea room my daughter informed the staff that one of the party was lactose intolerant and also needed a plant based selection of fare. They were told again over the phone about dietary needs as we had to change the booking from 5 diners to 4. We arrived on time and was told where to sit, a table directly next to the toilet. I was a bit put off by our location and the sandwiches/ cake stand was already laid out on the table, for how long before we arrived we don't know. The outside sandwiches were already drying out and crusts were curling. The butter icing on the cake slices was a bit damp. The tea room was busy with only 2 staff. Some people that arrived after us were served with tea before us. The 4 of us felt ignored and I in particular felt sorry for my daughter's s obvious embarrassment. Were we expected to just start eating without our teas and juice available? Thats part of the experience isn't it? "cuppa tea 'n' a slice o cake" Now remember, we only had 1 hour to enjoy this rare treat. There were no dairy free or plant based options or sandwiches on the table or stand We had to remind the man that this was told to them during the initial booking. 25 minutes of the alotted hour passed before we got our tea, apple juice and plate with sausage rolls etc. The dietary requirements plate was hastily thrown together ( I personally believe they forgot) with very dry falafel bites, some carrot filled filo with a sandwich filled with,.. well we still dont know what it was. Only 1 choice of cake as well for my daughter. All in all I did not enjoy our visit to the tea room and don't think we will return. Mary's tea room staff of 2 may be adequate for normal day to day running but is obviously understaffed for a Mother's day event and was not worth the money my daughter's paid. However we did manage to box up what food was left that we didn't actually have the time to consume on the premises to take home. I had to rate 1 star as that was the only ootion available for this review.

Came in about 6pm on a Friday night, quite quiet, lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming even though we hadn’t booked, and although it’s small the cafe is warm and tasteful. AMAZING food! Particularly recommend the pork and seabass.

A very friendly and intimate restaurant. Excellent food, good value, and good service. The carbonara and linguini were excellent.
