I visited for the first time recently on a visit with my family, the food and service was fantastic. I would 100% reccomend the cheese soufflé, I wish I lived nearer so I could have it again! Our server (I believe named Tony from memory) was absolutely amazing and so attentive. In addition, the cocktails were delicious!

Had lunch here today the food was good and also the service. Again the sweets (my favourite part of lunch) was limited as most contained nut or Berry's both of which i have an allergy. But still enjoyed the day.

Had it's ups and downs. The location is lovely, sitting on the glass fronted terrace, looking out over the bay is quite lovely on a summer's evening. The service was fabulous, considering there wasn't an empty table in sight. The team all worked so hard, they needed help really with it being so busy, but they definitely tried their hardest and the individuals cannot be faulted. There doesn't seem to be an enforced dress code, which is odd given the prices and general upmarket feel. The food was hit and miss... The children's fish was a little overcooked and dry. The seafood picnic (starter) was delicious. The mussels (starter) were great. The crayfish and prawn salad (starter) looked amazing and tasted wonderful. The stone bass and risotto (see photos) was a little overcooked and the skin, whilst it appeared crispy, was quite soft. The hake and ham (see photos) was a little too salty but otherwise delicious. The jam roly poly was swimming in custard, which is great, nobody ever seems to give enough custard anymore! I wonder if the kitchen was slightly over-run and this affected some of the finer details/finishing?? £9 for 4 slices of bread, a spoon of hummus, tzatziki and aioli is far too much, also why not tell us there wouldn't be enough bread for the whole table to have a slice each? The wine menu is fairly good and the prices not unreasonable (£64 for a nice Sancerre). All the above being said, we had a lovely evening and would gladly return.

We had excellent Sunday lunch. Fish (bream and bass) superb. Top service (from Phil) - attentive but not overbearing. Have been several times.

A lovely afternoon tea on a beautiful sunny afternoon in May. What more could you wish for! The tea was divine and we need dietary requirements which were catered for. The food was certainly plentiful and extremely tasty, just perfect! To add to the ambience, the view from the upper deck was stunning. Couldn't of asked for more.

Thank-you for a lovely Sunday lunch! I brought my 2 sons along (9 & 16 years) ahead of my eldest starting his GCSEs. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere for him & he tried caviar for the first time. He said the beef was cooked perfectly. My 9 year old was also happy with his children’s menu. As a vegetarian I was really happy with the Vegetarian roast which seems difficult for other places to achieve but Upper Deck delivered Thankyou! Our waiter Phil was great, friendly efficient & really helpful!

We stayed in the Harbour Hotel and this was the main restaurant on site so we came here for dinner and honestly, I've never eaten food like it before, or since. The cheese soufflé was the lightest and fluffiest piece of food on the planet and I crave it constantly to this day! Lauren C was our waitress for the evening and honestly 10/10 could not fault her, she could get a job at the poshest and best hotel in the world it still wouldn't be good enough for her, she really deserves everything she gets in this life x Towards the end of the night I had my favorite cocktail, espresso martini, and was assured by the funniest man I've met in years (didn't catch his name and I am gutted) that he could make me the best one I've ever had, which I genuinely doubted... but he was RIGHT and again, not had one like it since. He had a espresso martini pin and was hilarious if that helps identify him! I am desperate to visit Dorset again purely for the talent of the staff you have, they really make the whole experience and they really deserve a treat! If I could give 10 stars I would and ice reviewed this before the actual Hotel&Spa which I think says alot about this place. Perfect, thankyou so much for having us and we will be back x (Photos to come when I get them onto my new phone but they really don't do it justice)

Still very good after another year's short stay. Dinner, lunch and breakfast taken. Current table d'hote menu good value and tasty; a la carte menu suitably varied and fairly expensive though probably very good (only the odd item sampled). Glass of champagne relatively pricey, but humble Pino grigio good value and pleasant. Service good. Breakfast good; limited choice if taken in room but OK.

Had a lunch, three breakfasts, and an evening meal during our three night stay and the standard was great every time. Good choice on the menu, and whatever we chose was served by prompt, friendly and courteous staff, and cooked to near- perfection. Great flavours, especially with the main meals. Will definitely dine in next time we come to stay!

Fabulous restaurant, best fish and chips we have ever eaten, attentive and friendly waiting staff, amazing views, we can't wait to come back! Parking was a bit tricky!

Very nice ambience and decor. Service was so professional and food was quite good. We visited for breakfast and dinner and it didn’t disappoint. In the evening the cocktail bartender is a genius and does magic!

I thoroughly enjoyed the spa day spent here by myself and my partner. After enjoying the food and facilities we were treated to an amazing massage. I left feeling elevated and uplifted. I would highly recommend this to anybody looking to unwind and to enjoy the finer things. Really looking forward to returning and cannot thank the staff enough for such a great service and beautiful facilities and scenery.

Came here for a summers work do and it couldn't have been any nicer! The food was super tasty, I had the chicken and prawn satay which was gorgeous! Plus the cocktails are amazing. The staff couldn't of been more helpful either!

Fantastic food, one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had! The outside seating area was really nice and the overhead cover worked well as it was a bit windy when we visited but we were plenty warm enough. Great service, would definitely go back

Sunday Lunch was perfect..service was good to start but they were rushed off there feet ..but food and atmosphere made up for it..would thoroughly recommend as the hotel has beautiful decor and wonderful views .

Drinks- my daughter asked for j2o waiter said it was j2o it wasn't, my pint of larger had some sort of red sauce dried to inside of glass wife's cocktail was great. starter - cheese soufflé tasted of nothing advertised as cheese needed seasoning still not good ,wife's ham hock terrine not that well made looked like just pressed ham hock no love charred peach !!! ,Chicken pop corn daughter enjoyed .main course -seared sea bream skin burnt ,no broth but bean casselette no seasoning, squid ok ,my ribeye steak asked for medium rare as any less cooking ,with a ribeye and the fat is horrible,came out literally blue still cold in middle small amount of sauce undressed salad ,as I wanted to eat with my family said to head waiter I'll eat it but this is terrible thankfully he took it off the bill ,won't be back again , sweet - chocolate fondant over cooked nearly sponge to the middle ??

Lovely seaside themed afternoon tea. Good alternatives for my daughter who is allergic to seafood. The savoury course was excellent, nice touches and a bit different to the bog standard afternoon tea. Bought most of the cakes home, very generous portions

Large table, pre-ordered menu. Food service was faultless, staff were really attentive and kept returning for drinks orders/extras.

1 star for very disappointing food. The “brisket burger” was barely better than a McD burger anywhere in the US, definitely NOT brisket; veal way over cooked and covered still in oil, no veggies despite it being summer veggie season! Gosh good but unimaginative veggie pairings. Come on. Up your game Upper Deck. Location isn’t everything. Been here a year ago and way better food then. Service still good though.

Wonderful location, fabulous food, but, have they changed an ingredient in the twice baked soufflé?

My new favourite place in the UK. Love it haven't got a single complaint.

It's a pleasant atmosphere from the moment you step onto the "deck" You are greeted by a friendly staff and you are invited to wait whilst they find a beautiful table for you. The attire is formal casual ..with an accent on boating attire even though we were more dressed for the village fair if I am completely honest which is probably why the waiter had a slight condescension in his manner (I thought and so did my other guests)...however we all had the fish and it was amazing the portions were perfect and it was cooked to perfection, the desert was ok ..somehow a little bit of a let down of the entree and the main course the brownie was slightly gooey on the inside and mostly just crumbled away mixing with the fruit sorbet which again was something ordinary ...I don't know again without sounding judgey it just let down the other courses. FYI the tartare sauce is to die for !!!! Price wise is not that bad for what you would expect of the place ..no more expensive let's say that your more expensive pubs a full 3-course meal you can get for £27 and a glass of lemonade or juice just £3, cocktails £15....is what you would expect I guess.

Cracking meal as always with excellent service thanks to Phil. Rafer for making us feel very welcome . We shall be back again soon.

Had a lovely evening, great food and very attentive service for our server Phil he was very helpful In our menu choice. We had a late reservation and the restaurant was super busy when we arrived at 8p. Great wine choices.

Thanks guys for a very special Sunday lunch again. The staff here are always fantastic, and they always make you feel special. I would like to give an extra shout out to Rafael, who always goes out of his way to make you feel welcome.

You get what you pay for, well worth the extra for the service food etc compared to other places in christchurch

The food is very delicious, recommended Fish and chips, vegetarian risotto and Beef burger adding halloumi cheese. Good attention.

Superb food and the service from everyone was superb. What made it extra special was that we were very badly let down by a local restaurant (NOISY LOBSTER) where we had booked to celebrate our daughter's 21st - terrible treatment and poor customer service. One call to the Upper Deck and they rescued us! Can't recommend this place highly enough.

A fantastic restaurant with great food and wonderful staff. On our visit our waiter Phil was particularly attentive and friendly though everyone was brilliant. Cannot recommend enough!

Had a fantastic meal for two here. There was a good selection to choose from. Everything was so delicious. The staff here were very professional yet friendly, especially our waiter Phil.

Eight of us had a light lunch with drinks. We were allowed to bring in our own birthday cake.( We were dining at The Jetty next door in the evening) Staff were so nice and food just what we needed.

Delicious food and excellent service by Phil as I celebrated a very special birthday in a superb environment looking out over Christchurch harbour as the light faded. Few restaurants getting the lighting just right as they did here.

Absolutely wonderful evening dining at The Upper Deck Restaurant. The food is superb and the service we received from Renato Dos Santos was first class.

Fantastic setting but the service staff are not that attentive while at the same time do not listen to the customers. My biggest disappointment was the steamed mussels. All the barnacles had been left on to spew their contents into the steaming juices. Yuck! If barnacles tasted good they would be on menus…. So I ate the mussels but ignored the soup which was a real shame. Half the joy of eating steamed mussels is dunking some bread in the juices. Don’t order the mussels unless you like the taste of barnacles

Lovely terrace dining in the summer with a view of the sea with good but not exceptional seafood.

Lovely location with great views, staff were polite. Before booking I phoned to see if a vegan lunch option would be available, it took a while but someone did call back to confirm. The other guests in my party ordered fish which they were very happy with. The vegan option I ordered sounded great but turned out to be a plateful of little more than flavourless quinoa with a very bruised avocado half on top. A poor effort I think, I won't be returning.

We celebrated our honeymoon at the hotel on Sunday night and had dinner, breakfast and lunch in the Upper Deck. Every second we spent in the restaurant was perfect, the team looked after us as they did everyone, the food was delicious and the view was beautiful.

Had special board asparagus starter, pork main and an "oops I dropped my ice cream" dessert. Couldn't fault it and thought the pud was very clever!

Part of Christchurch Harbour Hotel. Food OK if you like "fancy food" Bit pricy. Personally not keen in food as I prefer simpler food.

Afternoon tea with friends. Always good

Having heard really good things about this restaurant, and the menu looking great, I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectation or the prices. Venue. The restaurant lacked a premium ambiance, and reminded me more of the Brewers Fayre down the road, as well as the decor. People were not dressy at all, and the restaurant was very loud with tables very close together. The restaurant was also very dark, despite the very sunny day that we attended on. On trying to leave the restaurant we found that one of the hotel service vans and blocked in our car with the driver nowhere to be seen, we waited for about 10mins for the van to be moved. Food. For the starter we ordered 6 tempura prawns at £3 each, to our surprise the batter was not tempura batter but regular fish and chip batter. I ordered the pork 3 ways as a main and two of the ways were very dry. One of my party ordered the sea bream, which was incredibly salty and pretty much inedible (the restaurant did replace this). The presentation of most dishes was good. Service. The service or very rushed and not relaxing at all. Our mains arrived just a few minutes after our starters were cleared, however we waited for over 20mins to order a dessert and ended up deciding not to bother and just getting the bill. I don't plan to attend again, as there are far better restaurants in the area for lower, or similar prices.

When you visit an expensive restaurant you expect something special. We felt everything was over-priced. We also thought it was presumptuous of them to add a 12.5% service charge. The service was polite and professional but not friendly.

The Harbour Hotel Christchurch is fabulous and the Upper Deck is a fine representation of the service and quality that permeates throughout the whole place. My favourite Harbour hotel with great views, food and wine. A superb way to celebrate for a major family event!

Love it here! Plenty of choice on the lunch menu. Food was all delicious. Great service and lovely views.

I've been here twice now and it is the height of luxury. The best cocktails I've ever had - champagne cocktails also available. The food is phenomenal - fish and steak cooked perfectly. I didnt want my seafood linguini special to end, every mouthful absolutely packed with flavour. Everything has 'the special touch' - even the bread and dips were perfect (the mackeral pate is phenomenal). Expert service - served by Tuija but her colleagues were also great. It was a nice touch to see the bar staff giving shelves, etc. a thorough clean when not making drinks, the place is immaculate. The place i go when i want a top quality day out.

The staff are so polite and friendly. Great selection of drinks, cocktails came highly recommended to us and were a taste sensation when we tried them. The food is lovely and perfectly cooked and they are more than happy to adjust for any dietary requirements. Lovely decor and outside seating area

Location is lovely. And the steak is amazing. Unfortunately, I did not order the steak. I ordered the "Trio of Pork", and my disappointment was only matched by my distaste for the dish. What arrived was three minuscule cubes of pork. I'm talking the size of a medium-large grape. Each one was incredibly dry and salted until all flavour was lost. It's only redeeming feature could have been the potato it came with, which was also salty. And just the low, low price of £24 was the cost of this disappointment. Staff are lovely and the only reason it's not a 1 star review.

Delicious food. I had options from the early dinner menu (served until 7pm) which was about £24. It was all great. Tables were distanced. Most staff were wearing masks for the whole service - all except one.
