Lovely food but service was shocking. Took 5 waiters to wonder past before the barman shouted over to acknowledge us. Got sat near the door with everybody leaving it open and nobody closing it. Had to abandon our table mid meal several times to close it ourselves. Was never asked if the meal was okay or if we wanted a second drink. Not enjoyable at all.

I have been here for both family meals and meals for business and this place never fails to deliver. The huge Mediterranean prawns and either a spicey pork pasta or a Calzone are fabulous. The house red is great also. The staff are welcoming and friendly and always make us feel valued.

Lovely evening meal here ,staff where great and venue was lovely. Will diffentley be going back .

Authentic and lovely Italian food. We eat here often and love and of the creamed noodle dishes, pizzas, and the seafood noodles. Their chicken with vegetables is also a good one if you're watching your calorie intake. We have tried most of the menu and all of it is really great. We will be back again soon.

Ate here today and food poisoning symptoms started couple hours after eating… I’m in a lot of pain and discomfort. I’m also pregnant and now worried this will affect the baby…

Authentic Italian experience in Newmarket. This restaurant is virtually next door to the Jockey Club, where we stayed. Although very busy, we were seated quickly and served by a nice young man from Puglia. Food was delicious and served promptly.

Took my partner out for his birthday meal. We had such a lovely time. Food was excellent, the service was spot on and the price was very reasonable. Such a warming atmosphere too. I would definitely go there again. Thank you Unico.

ABBA tribute event last night, well what can I say other than fantastic! The service was outstanding, food delicious, staff warm, welcoming, polite and helpful, I have dietary issues which didn’t phase them at all . Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was buzzing in such a great way. I would definitely recommend a visit and will be back for sure. Thanks to everyone working last night for such a great evening 😊

We love this place! Newmarket food scene is fabulous, but Unico especially is a place to visit👌🏽 The staff are great (even the chefs get involved and are so lovely!), restaurant itself is gorgeous and the food is incredible👏🏽

Authentic Italian food with great service. Busy and bustling, don't come for a quiet bite!

Where do I begin… The staff are absolutely amazing, so so friendly and accommodating, especially Frankie and Justi! The food is very tasty, with a variety of different authentic Italian meals to choose from! The atmosphere is lovely too, the restaurant is very beautiful and you’re always greeted with a big smile and looked after by all staff. Unico is mine and my partners go to for any occasion, whether it’s a birthday or just a quick bite. Definitely recommend! Oh and definitely give Primitvo wine a try, will soon become your favourite!

Walnut and popcorn drizzle bread of the day, the popcorn drizzle tasted just like honey, but was nice. The veg with the liver and onions was very hard. Pizza nice. Prawn spaghetti ok. The atmosphere wasn't great. There was a group booking near us and they definitely got priority and felt like we were 2nd class customers. We were there when they turned down the lights and they put these little lamps on the table, we thought ours was too orange so we put it on the white light and the waitress came and turned it back to orange and then off...?! Service was also slow for us (not for the group), and it was quiet on a Sunday evening. Atmosphere definitely lacking. Wouldn't go back

Both pizzas and the chips we ordered were stonecold when they arrived, 40 pounds for cold food, I shall NEVER use this restaurant again.

I had a bigger party organised at Unico. Very welcome, friendly, helpful, nice and fast service. Food was excellent and portions really big. I would definitely recommend and I will visit the restaurant again.

A little expensive, the service was OK, food was banging

Absolutely beautiful food, very attentive staff, table was kindly found right away without a booking (it was a Saturday night). The downside were the toilets, at the ladies toilet seats screws were missing or questionable fitting 2 out of 3, and at gents apparently most taps weren't working. I won't give a low score for that although at this sort of place you'd expect more attention to detail and functioning premises.

Lovely food, friendly staff and a pleasant environment. Very accessible for my wheelchair (including the toilet). Would thoroughly recommend. 😊

Absolute delightful food and service

5th time coming to celebrate our anniversary... Gentlemen at the bar that usually makes our drinks was not on shift today. Food was the worst it's been out of the 5 yrs we have been going. Felt sick after finding hair in the food but didn't have the heart to tell the waiter. Staff member who served us was lovely he was new but very kind If going to eat in the area I would definitely opt for El Guaca.

Have visited lunch and evening. Both pleasant experiences just for two and with extended family.

I took my 5 year old daughter for dinner this evening. The staff were fantastic, fun and friendly. The chef made my daughters pizza in the shape of a fish. We had a wonderful evening and look forward to coming again. The food was delicious

First time visit. Rib eye steak was lovely. Service very good. time to wait for seating 3 to 4 mins. Will be going back.

Everything was great about this place. The food, atmosphere, and service exceeded expectations. There's some street parking outside the restaurant and a paid parking lot within a 5 minute walk so the location is good too. Highly recommend for a date night or just a casual night out with friends.

Lovely food, good service, but as it was a Saturday night it was a touch on the noisy side but will definitely be visiting again.

Nice Italian restaurant. Tasty carpaccio for starter, veal for main. Only disappointment were the desserts, which were very plain. Service was pretty good, especially as we were a big table. Non-alcoholic cocktails were excellent. Kid-friendly, at least early in the evening - there was a large family birthday party on one side. Would definitely return. Bill came to £350 for 6 adults and 4 kids mostly three courses.

Unico is just like being in Italy with family. Superb food, excellent service and generous portions. If it's on the specials menu, trust it to be very special.

Great food. No awkward automatic service charges tagged on. Recommended. Quite lively so maybe don't bring your grandparents.

One evening I stopped to eat fish, what can I say, I ate better than in Italy, Italian cuisine with Italian staff. I highly recommend it even if you have to drive an hour.

Really nice food. We had pasta dishes and thought the portion sizes were generous. Great deserts as well, and all delivered very speedily.

Perfect experience for my daughters 18tb Brilliant food and great cocktails

Booked for a table of 11 for my daughter’s 18th birthday yesterday. Everything was perfect, the food, the service, the atmosphere and the cocktails that my daughter had looked and tasted amazing. I would recommend the spicy pork linguine, my daughter had the steak and she said it was like butter. My son had the chicken Milanese which he loved. O and they do an excellent happy birthday. Thank you for the perfect ending to my daughter’s special day.

So many times you end up paying for barely adequate service and food. This is one of the places where you will get the exceptional food and service you've paid for. Will definitely eat here again.

The food was delicious (we tried the deep fried brie, bruscetta, spicy pork pizza, fried and fried zucchini). Everything was very good, and the staff were lovely and very welcoming! I will definitely be coming back here in the near future.

I stopped here for dinner as I was working and wanted a quick thing to eat, staff are so on it and every single one knows what they are doing. I wad served by George, he made it super simple to order, I didn't even have to look in the manu, I told him what I'm thinking of and he made it happen, added some things that he thought it would go well and OMG seriously the best pasta dish I ever had in England so far, it was delicious, simple and so well made, I was over the moon with my dinner. I had an hour to kill and I was out in half an hour, such good service, the food came super quick and I couldn't ask for a better experience. Thank you for filling my heart with joy.

If I could give Unico more than five stars I would. This was the first time we'd been here and it won't be the last. The food, service and atmosphere were all first class. It's a busy restaurant but we felt like we were given personal service throughout. All of the staff were excellent but our main waiter, George, deserves a special mention for looking after us so well.

The food was pretty standard, the service was pretty poor, it was extremely busy in there but they didn't make their service personal at all, just felt very rushed and all the staff had right faces on! The atmosphere was good, but I don't know if its because it was light switch on in the town that it was so busy and loud in there. I would recommend, but in my opinion the staff need to talk more to their customers, just need to be a bit more customer facing in all!

Hubby and I treated ourselves on our anniversary to a delicious meal here. Plenty of yummy vegetarian choices. Chicken was flavored well, tender, and savory. Tried the Popcorn Martini which had a cute sweet popcorn accent. Not inexpensive, but well worth the money! The place was decked out for Halloween and customer service was spot on. Thank you!

First time we have been to this restaurant and it won’t be the last. It is a very authentic Italian place with great food. Definitely the best Italian restaurant in Newmarket. Also the chilli oil was amazing. Great customer service.

One of our favourite authentic Italian restaurants! Super friendly staff with generous portions. The staff even set up the balloons that I had dropped off for our anniversary prior to our arrival. This one of many dinners enjoyed at Unico and its alway prepared impeccably. I recommend the calzone pizza its my personal favourite. Highly recommended!!

Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend if you are in Newmarket. Was visiting for 2 nights, booked here for our first night. Was so impressed booked again for our second night. Food and drink menu is great. Food is fresh and tasty. Best italian food ive had outside of ltaly. The restaurant has a real buzz about it and the staff were brilliant! Will 110% be back next time I'm in Newmarket.

Couldn't ask for anything more from an Italian restaurant, excellent food especially the pizzas! The staff were excellent and really nice and the place had a real buzz to it. Lots of horse racing royalty have been seen here and I met some at the table next to me, definitely a good visit.

I have only had the pizza here and it is of a reasonably high standard, but not exceptional by any means. The service was pretty poor last time I went with not enough staff and people standing at the door being ignored.

Absolutely love this restaurant. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and a friendly and helpful team. I had the Mediterranean Prawns 🍤 in a garlic butter on delicious toasted homemade bread to start, and then the Linguine Spicy Beef as the main. Both were huge and so good! They also serve incredible cocktails - the Bloody Mary’s are delicious! The Sicilian ‘Messina’ beer was awesome too!! 😀🍻🍺

Very large restaurant with an impressive bar. Food is good, service is excellent with well trained staff.

Excellent food and service! Wheelchair accessible with disabled bathroom (but tables are tricky to fully get your wheels under). Staff have great knowledge of their menu concerning allergies. Gluten free and vegan options are available. Coffee and cocktails are delicious. I would say "we'll be back" but we've actually already been back twice!

I really hate to write bad reviews, but we have been let down each time we've been to Unico. It's such a shame as it really is a beautiful restaurant and amazing food, but we have been put off going again. 1. I planned a birthday surprise for a friend, I booked a week in advance for 13 people. They asked if two separate tables would be okay, I said absolutely not, we all want to be together. They said that's absolutely fine. The day of, I went at lunch time to check the table, drop off balloons, etc. I was happy with the table. However, when we arrived we were put on separate booths. So not even were we not sitting together, we couldn't even see eachother. Not even on the table they showed me a few hours before. They moved us to another table, but it only seated 11 people, not 13 like I asked for. So only 11 people stayed to eat. 2. Say night, we had our starters which were delicious! Then when our mains arrived, an extra dish was bought out and we looked confused as no one had ordered this dish. The waitress said well you have to pay for it. So we did and asked for it to be put in a doggy bag. We done this to save the embarrassment as it was very awkward. The birthday girl who the surprise was for also asked for a chicken and mushroom pasta dish, which turned out to be a fish dish, but again to save hassle and embarrassment, she ate it. The mains were amazing though, as always. 3. Me and my partner ordered a sharing board (minimum 2 people) which was around £11. When we were billed, they charged us £22. We thought we had read it wrong, but when I look at the menu again, we must have been charged wrong. The food is amazing, but I've never had waitress say to me you are paying for th extra meal. Surely they would see it is wrong if they've taken down 12 meals for 11 people? It was also a meal none of us had ordered, no one had changed their mind confusing the waitress. I want to trust a restaurant and not feel like I have to check the bill to make sure I haven't been over charged.

Staff were very polite. Would recommend this restraunt and attentive to the tables.

Food was excellent, couldn't fault it one bit. However the delivery was 45 minutes early. When you're expecting a rough time and it's 5 mins here or there no problem. But it was to the point we weren't remotely ready for the food and it was inconvenient.

Reservations highly recommended as this is a popular eatery. We ordered the caramelized onion bread, calamari, lobster, steak, chicken pasta, gluten free vegan pasta, tirimisu. Every choice was delicious. Cannot express how wonderful the staff is.

Brilliant service, very fast and the food was delicious, fairly priced and was impressed overall. Would come back and eat again next time I am in the area.

The background music was fine when the place was empty but as it filled up it could have been turned down as it added to the overall noise and made communicating with other diners on our table difficult.

Made a booking for 10 people for Father's Day over the telephone. The booking was a bit difficult to make as there was a language barrier. The restaurant itself was really nice - it was well set out and tastefully decorated. On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table in a welcoming way. The service was prompt - we didn't feel rushed at all and someone was on hand whenever we needed them. After ordering, the drinks and food came in a timely manner and was well presented. The food itself was tasty and well portioned (both adult and child alike). Good selection of desserts which were devoured by all. My only small gripe was that the air conditioning was focussed on us resulting in the food getting colder quickly and us feeling a little like snowmen. Otherwise, would recommend and will visit again!

The pizza was soggy, and the pasta was just odd with random chunks of pork. Won't be ordering again.

Authentic Italian in a stylish way!

Fantastic restaurant with beautiful fresh food. Always popular, always busy because it is superb.

This was our first time ordering. The food was high quality and tasty. We especially liked the desserts we ordered (a lemon one and a panecotta). Bit on the price-y side, but worth it. Nice little treat! Thank you.

We were passing through Newmarket on a Saturday evening and decided to stop for some food, walking down the high street Unico caught our eye with its menu. It was busy and we didn’t have a booking but they managed to squeeze us in. I couldn’t decide what to have the menu looked too good, lots of choice. We settled on calamari, onion flatbread and bruschetta to start. Amazing flavours and great portion sizes. For mains we had chicken Milanese and spaghetti carbonara. Again, great portion sizes. For dessert we had tiramisu and cheesecake. We don’t usually get dessert but they looked sooo good. Decor and atmosphere were lovely. I’d 100% recommend Unico to anyone visiting Newmarket.

Ignore the pizza parlour external look, and the A board on the pavement. This is good food, nicely presented, from an extensive and varied Italian menu. We' ve been 4 times now and hope to work steadily through the menu with around a dozen dishes which we fancy. A big restaurant, nicely fitted out.
