Market Town pub,basic but welcoming

Attitude of male member of staff needs adjusting, no clearing of used starter plates before main came out.

I just called up the number that is listed on their Facebook page. The person picked up the phone, saying that it's Saturday afternoon and he is sick of this *hit. I called because I wanted to ask if the pub is dog friendly, he answered very sarcastically that it is. Then he proceeded to tell me that it is not a weekday, hence the reason he is annoyed by my call. I asked him if he runs a pub which is open on a Saturday, his answer was yes, so not entirely sure why a phone call about a later visit was all that surprising. He then told me to go away and hung up the phone. What an utterly disgusting way to talk to customers. I will make sure I'll never visit this place ever again and will do my best to spread the message about this horrible approach. Shame on you.

Became my Regular now. Rarely too crowded and the people that serve there are always a nice chat. As a local, this is definitely one of the best in the town!

Went there on an emergency visit after failed taxi/no way home. Received good service and a pint after hours for me and partner, friendly and helpful, good vibes. Beer tasted strange but I suspect was cos we drinking other substance beforehand. Will go again

Isla our waitress gave excellent and cheerful service. Good quality food at a reasonable price and pleasant atmosphere.

shame have eaten there before and had some great meals unfortunately me and the wife decided just to have a drink on saturday afternoon wife ordered a rose wine (one of those i Heart rose mini bottles)barmaid could not open the bottle and had taken it out back retuning with the glass full and an empty bottle.The wine was possible the worst we have ever tasted they did replace it with a different wine i cant help but feel were being ripped of with a swapped wine out back .All this time a very drunk man was loudly talking to anyone who would listen no fault of the pub but they continued to serve him.

Nice place.. Enjoyable meal apart from the scampi could have been hotter, we should have told them and they would have rectified it as the staff were helpful and friendly.

Two great breakfasts with coffee or latte as my partner had along with orange juice for just £10. What could be better. Staff helpfull and friendly that's what makes it even better. Would recommend to anybody going to Newmarket.

My daughter Chell and I were shopping today and decided to go for dinner. We went into the bushel and asked if they had any seats ( as it said booking recommended) spare which they had. We sat down and looked at the menu we ordered the roast dinner 🍴. I had turkey and gammon and Chell had beef and pork. When it arrived it was hot and very tasty. We also got roast potatoes, stuffing ball and Yorkshire pudding. The vegetables were carrots, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli also a dish of mashed potato. All in all it was a brilliant meal and the staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back there.

Looking for a pint and a meal this is the place to stop at if you are shopping around The Guineas Newmarket. The menu is varied and all food is reasonably costed. Helpings and quality are good. This is a non-threatening place to eat in if you are on your own and staff are very helpful.

The only real Public House in Newmarket (in fact the oldest) , a real slice of history. The food is of an immaculate standard. It thrives on its community spirit and is heavily involved in helping people less fortunate than ourselves......Charity work is one of the Landlord and his families main ethos....a very rare thing in this day and age. The beer and drinks are highly competitively priced. I advise you to visit. Ps that should get me a free drink!!!!!!!!! See you soon.

We went last Sunday for lunch we had booked.was greeted & seated no waiting drinks arrived very quickly with the menu 4 meats 1veggie to chose from large £8.95 smaller pensioners £6.95 a good selection of fresh vegetables to help yourself to plenty of gravy in side dish could have more if wanted.Food promptly served & was hot.Nice selection of home made desserts @ £3.95. We were very pleased with the service the beef we would have liked a little rarer. We will be going again . Excellent all round from 2 people who eat out a lot well done.

Just been for Breakfast, We gave it a shot, although the outside has looked grim for a year or so Now. However last month saw the arrival of a Cheerful new landlord and now a family run pub. They Served up a terrific breakfast for a 2 for £10 deal. The dining area was clean and bright and I enjoyed the breakfast so much, I will give the Sunday roast deal a try, when visiting Newmarket next.

Tatty and dirty! unfriendly staff the girl behind the bar served 2 locals who came in after me! And to top it off the beer tasted sour! If your not a local don't bother i certainly won't again!

Unobtrusive pub located opposite Marks and Spencer's in Newmarket. Has outdoor seating. Bar staff are amiable and friendly. Modest selection of beers available. Has a modest menu of food too. Although I didn't eat when I visited. Is wheelchair accessible. With tables able low enough if required.
