Uncle Bob's @ The Raven in Carmarthenshire

My goodness, what a lovely surprise, I called here 2 years ago with visiting family for a meal, and I called in again a few days ago. The food was excellent!! My son, who is over from Canada and is a real foodie, was really impressed, great portions, is well cooked, and really pleasing to the eye. I would recommend 'Uncle Bob's @ The Raven' to anyone looking for a really impressive meal at a great pric3.

Delicious food - lovely Sunday carvery and great desserts.

I had the best ribs ever there ! The size of the plate was quite big ! The atmosphere felt like a typical Smokehouse. Would 100% recommend

I visited the Raven twice this week and loved it. The atmosphere was great, staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Coming to wales again in a couple of weeks and we will be visiting the Raven again.

Sunday carvery was absolutely beautiful, couldn't fault it if I tried, Adrian is an awesome Chef, will definitely return. 👏👏

Great food, huge portions, good selection of beers and lovely staff! Stopped for dinner expecting a standard pub food but was pleasantly surprised to find such high quality menu. The garlic mushrooms starter was spot on and the veggie burger was great as well. Highly recommend!

Very welcoming place. Lovely food we started with the daily soup, which was mushroom soup. I had the steak with mustard mash (I highly recommend that). My partner had the ribs. Really big portions sizes we will be back for another visit

Absolutely love a great roast. Everytime we've been always great food and loads of it. Staff really friendly and it's a great atmosphere. Good selection of drinks. Clean toilets.

Went to Uncle Bob's in the Raven last night for my daughters 30th birthday and had an lovely evening. We were a table of 8, we all had different orders, the food was stunning, good portion size and excellent value. The atmosphere was great, it was a Friday night and the restaurant was full, but the waiting time for food and drinks were minimal. The staff were amazing nothing was to much trouble and they knew the menu and could recommend different dishes. Table service was excellent, staff were friendly and welcoming. If you ever want to eat out where the food is good quality and excellent value I can highly recommend Uncle Bob's, we will definitely be going back again.

Not impressed with my Chicken Korma and Nan Bread I received for the price they charged me. The portion was child size, luke warm and rice under cooked. For £12.95 I was expecting my plate to be more than half full. The meal was flavoursome, but the chicken was sparse and sauce watery. The dish came to table in a cold stainless steel vessel with a half portion of rice on an ice cold huge plate. We waited almost an hour for our food and the restaurant was empty. I will not be eating here again. Very disappointed with the overall experience. 😕

Everything about this restaurant is class, I was truly blown away by the food.

Wonderful food and staff were friendly and amazing. We went on a double date with our friend couple here. The food was amazing, portions were big and food placement on the plate was also very nice. Garlic mushrooms we had for starters were the best I have eaten. Definitely be going here again

We had booked a table as quite a large group for a Sunday dinner. Staff seated us quickly, we went up to the cavalry, plenty of choice of meat and vegetables. Staff catered to us all, we were a mixed of adults, kids and toddler/baby and they were happy to give us a bowl for the younger kids and not charged us. Food was soo lovely, couldn't fault anything. We did also have desert which again was delicious. Definitely going again for Sunday dinner and will try other food to

Very slow service on first ever visit. Won't be coming back. Food was ok but extremely limited vegan choice ... One dish, stuffed if you don't like rice. Too noisy, no sign of staff apart from them seeing to a complainer. No atmosphere. Doors to garden open & all smoke blowing back into restaurant.

I visited for the first time yesterday. And I REALLY wanted to enjoy it. It's on my doorstep, the menu is exciting and the promise of own recipe hot sauces was too much to pass up. First impressions on entry were good, nice music, clean, and someone to greet us almost immediately. We were shown to our table, all was good. Drinks orders were taken quickly with a smile. That's pretty much where good service ended. At this point we were sharing the restaurant with only 1 other couple, and yet it took the 3 waitresses 15 minutes to take our order, which the rather grumpy one confirmed with us twice and yet still got it wrong. Food took 25 minutes to arrive... Not great but acceptable I suppose. With it being so quiet in there I guessed I expected it to be quicker. The food itself was ok. I've had better but I've had a lot worse. My partner said her burger was a little dry, my son really enjoyed his ribs. Not a mention or even hint towards the famous hot sauces. That was a little disappointing. We were eager to order dessert. But after TWENTY-FIVE minutes of empty plates on our table I finally had enough of watching 2 waitresses chat behind the bar while the third moped around looking thoroughly annoyed that customers dare disturb her day. I approached the bar, expressed my annoyance, paid and left. I tried to be polite but I was VERY annoyed at this point and so I can only apologise if I offended. However, please understand that my high expectations were left mostly unmet. I was upset, frustrated, and in dire need of a sugar rush. I hope this was a one-off, but I'll need to see a huge improvement in the service I received yesterday before I consider a revisit. A real shame. Please do better.

The level of noise was unbearable, entertainment reasonable. Staff friendly and helpful, food good. It is a pity that they feel that deafening customers is a good idea

Uncle bobs was just OK, I was expecting more choice in foods but the menu was very limited, but the staff are friendly and welcoming! Big meals and the food is OK.

If you want a great burger, this is the place.

Had booked a table but the pub had changed hands and didn't know about our table reservation making the fact we had a dog with us, a bit awkward.

Had heard the service was terrible and they weren't wrong. A very solemn looking woman took us to our table, took our drinks order immediately, served moments later with drinks. Role on 30 minutes later were two other customers ask when they could order their food, the reply was the chef has asked to hold back orders, which is fair enough but communicate that to your customers. By this time my kids had finished their drinks and we’re getting bored and hungry as was I. 20 minutes later these before mentioned customers up and left. I asked one (miserable) waiter if I could order, he said he’d be ‘over in a sec.’ 15 minutes later, as I was just finishing my drink they took our order, I wanted to leave but was convinced to stay by the kids who just wanted food. Menu said kids eat free, told (abruptly) that the offer finished at 5pm, this is NOT stated anywhere in the restaurant, apparently you must go on Facebook to know the time it stops. Bearing in mind this was not a busy time. 15 or so minutes later, well over and hour since we arrived for our allocated booking time we got food. Most of the chip were inedible because they were hard. Waiter brought fresh over, which were no better. Meat platter was okay, fairly tasteless. ‘Famous’ house gravy was like watery bisto. Kids Chicken strips over cooked. Only real positive was the BBQ sauce, very rich but this is nothing groundbreaking for what is something you would expect to be good in an establishment like this. We didn’t finish most of it simply because it was inedible, overcooked food. Overall, I arrived with low expectations and left unchanged. Hopefully they can improve, quickly, but in this financial climate you can’t afford to lose custom.

3rd visit for my birthday on 30/6 first time of trying something different from having a sharer. Hubby had ribs and I had chicken burger absolutely lush.

Food is beautiful. But 1 of our party was completely left out when the mains came out. When we asked where her meal was there was a lot of flustering and calling different staff members. Asing what she orderd Were told sorry we will put it on now eventually. The rest of us had almost finished eating so she just went without! Lucky she had her starter

Food was superb, staff were very accommodating, only downside was they had Madri lager but that's everywhere lately.

Shame. 2nd time here and food is simply awful. 3 of us here this time for a Lunch meeting and all 3 meals were over cooked badly. We had an apology as soon as the young lady brought our food to us as she recognised the food burnt.

This would easily have been a 5 star for the food, but we had to wait so long to get served. 2 big parties took priority over us, so we had to wait almost 2 hrs for the main. I'm sure once they're open a bit longer these things will be ironed out. We'll definitely be back, keen to support local business ess

Young waiting staff and not enough of them although they all were pleasant and were rushed off their feet. A large group were a logistical challenge for them and many tables were waiting for their bill . Overall rather noisy but perhaps the result of a successful establishment.

We had a lovely meal at Uncle Bob’s at the Raven on their opening evening. We had Uncle Bob’s chicken, The pulled pork burger and the meat feast sharing platter. All the food was very tasty and the atmosphere was was great! We hope they will make it into a fantastic success 🥰

Lovely food and choice of food - staff were all friendly in a lovely pub. Seating is nice and private without taking away from the pub atmosphere, plenty of parking and clean toilets also.

Where do I even start... went here for xmas day lunch.. ( 1st time in 58 years I've not had a Christmas dinner) I cant even begin to describe just how bad the food was.... wasn't fit for human consumption.... I left extremely hungry ( ate one brussel sprout which was also vile..... never ever have I had such bad food ( and trust me everyone was complaining.. I've had my fair share of poor meals in my 58 years but the raven tops every one of them.... most definitely gets number one spot..... £75 I should have thrown in the bin.... would be nice if the raven had any comment to make regarding this poor excuse of a Christmas dinner... ps thank you raven from blocking me on your Facebook page ( seems your not happy with my review on there ) only speaking the truth as I'm sure you well know.... avoid avoid and again avoid the raven

We ordered x3 takeaway dinners last week which was ruined as gravy was burned and not edible. I complained and was very kindly offered x3 takeaway dinners today free of charge. However. Sadly yet again the dinner was awful. Gravy was not burnt this time but nevertheless the dinner was inedible. Everything was greasy. Suede looked off colour. Yorkshire pudding was dowy. Rest potatoes and mash were awful and so was the stuffing. The only good thing was the meat was nice. I am so disappointed as I have been having dinners there for years with no complaints. Dont know if there is a different chef but I will not be returning until things improve. Julia

We had a disaster with our starters, but these were removed from our bill which was a good gesture. Mains were delicious, lovely homemade chips. Service is a little slow but if you want freshly cooked food, then this is to be expected.

This place has recently changed hands and we were so disappointed with the cold food after waiting 1hr 20 mins. Not what it was and so beware if booking on old reviews .

Food undercooked. Terrible meal

We loved the food and they set us a lovely table for two but unfortunately a large party came in and were on the tables around us. This wouldn't have been a problem if all parties actually sat down and chatted but they stood behind where we were sat chatting, and even putting their arm on my husbands chair. My husband is getting over cancer and going through chemotherapy. This situation could have been avoided by the staff. Shame.

Delicious Sunday lunch at the Raven...best I've had in a long time tbh !! Everything was cooked to perfection and you even got a choice of medium or well done roast beef which I've never seen done anywhere else I've been to..great service by the waitresses...cannot fault and will definitely be returning !!! Best in the valley in my opinion !!

We hadn't been here for a Sunday lunch for quite some time and I'm afraid I won't be going back anytime soon. I have to say that the staff were lovely but unfortunately the dinner was awful. I think the roast potatoes tasted like they had been deep fried (tasted of oil fat with bo seaoning), mash potatoes tasted sour, Yorkshire pudding tasted of fat and were burnt. I am not one to complain but I was so disappointed with the meal.

Amazing. The food size and quality is nothing short of spectacular. Personally would have liked a few more chips. But thats only a minor point. The rack of ribs was half a pig soft and juicy. Overall incredible.

Lovely pub/restaurant, met up with some friends and family on a Saturday, had a lovely afternoon/evening there, returned on Sunday to collect my car and a takeaway Sunday roast, which was superb, I will definitely be back to try the menu 😁

We had such a lovely welcome today from the owners as soon as we walked through the doors, the food was great and came very quickly eventhough they were busy, as we left they thanked us and went out of their way to thank us for coming, highly recommend a visit to all.

The place is clean and fresh, the manger is charming but not overbearing,the food was hot and very well presented,in all a great place to go and glad we can visit it often again like we used to.Congratulations to the new manager you are doing an amazing job.Will highly recommend you with confidence.

Have been a few times and had nice meals. Its a place not too far for us with not a lot of choice unless you travel. Went mid week - not a good experience, service and food. The order was incomplete, meals served separately, asked if we wanted sauces said no thanks initially, my dish had loads of leaves on it so went to the bar, as nobody came over to ask if all was ok with the meals to be told they haven't got mayonnaise or salad cream. My son wanted a pudding which he said was nice. We left soon after that and the bill was incorrect. They left themselves short. Did not point this out as I normally would have. I've noticed poor reviews on TA. Seems the place needs attention before it continues to lose more custom.

Since Xmas myself and a staff member have been working on a Sunday. The office is a 5 min walk from The Raven and felt compelled to acknowledge the food we have received on such a very consistent scale for the last 3 months each and every Sunday. Many thanks.

Food was very good and a good price not too expensive
