Absolutely a gem of a small hotel. Spacious rooms, very comfortable beds, really wonderfully cooked and presented meals, all cooked from scratch mostly using very locally sourced products. This hotel is dog friendly , has spacious well kept grounds, is owner managed by David and Jill and employs local staff…keeping the ‘carbon footprint’ way down. Set in Brechfa, there are so many walks..too many to list. Yet you are only a very short drive from local towns and stunning beaches. All in all could not want for more. There were several returning guests. We will certainly be back

We had the absolute pleasure of holding our wedding weekend here last weekend. Gill and David are wonderful hosts. Nothing was a problem. No request too difficult. The food was AMAZING (and locally sourced). The rooms are large and beds super comfortable. We will definitely be back. To see them both (and Buster), to support a true gem of a place and hosts and to remember our wonderful wedding weekend. THANK YOU Gill and David. Everything was just perfect.

We arranged for a two night stay at Ty Mawr. David and Gill (and the staff) made all of us feel exceptionally welcome (especially my Mum!). It was a memorable stay with excellent breakfasts and evening meals. It was also a peaceful location with plenty of ideas on how to make the most of our stay. Highly recommended. We will return!

Excellent. Very warm welcome from hosts. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Delicious meals - we had the dinner, bed and breakfast package which was a good choice, reasonably priced, and almost all ingredients locally sourced. Interesting visits within 10 miles - gardens, castle, National Trust and good walking information provided by hosts. Would certainly recommend and look forward to our next visit.

Our family of 12 stayed in the hotel and had dinner and breakfast for 3 nights. The highlight was the special celebratory meal for an 80th birthday. Mention should be made of the Spaghetti Bolognese which was chosen by most of the children for every dinner in spite of other options on offer!

We have stayed here on several occasions and are always impressed with the standard of cleanliness and the superb food. The rooms are very spacious and everything is organised for you to enjoy a pleasant stay. The staff are wonderful-very friendly and knowledgeable about the area of Brechfa, and full of ideas of where you can go to enjoy your stay at its best. We will be back and highly recommend!

Has a super meal whilst staying at the hotel. Mel and Paul took over late last year and although we have never stayed or eaten there before, they are certainly doing a great job. Mel is the host, Paul is the chef. No doubt they have many other talents, but it has to be said this was one of the most tasty delicious meals we have ever had. All the ingredients are from local trusted farmers and suppliers. The meat was very tender and Paul's sauces are superb. Don't expect a vast choice. We always reckon large choice means lots of freezer fare! There was a choice of two meats, fish and vegetarian. Would imagine Vegans would be welcome too, as Mel asked in advance if we had and dietary requirements. Best to check before booking. Whatever your preferences, you will be made most welcome. Pity we live so far away!

I do not cook at all when The Penny Black is open ! I feel really sorry for cafes and restaurants like this ! It's not their fault that they are unable to open up at the moment still ! The Post office is an integral part of the Burry Port community and as such will have struggled to retain their loyal clientele! Not everyone is,driven by price but as I intend to eat there 3 or 4 times a week , still, I'm very grateful that the prices are priced really realistically , as I'm single and only on my works pension, still ! Lol x Thanks for all the care the staff gave given me since moving to Burry Port/ Pembrey. South Wales. Th

Plenty of parking, I liked the layout which didn’t put you too close to other diners and not cramped, amazing views and good ambiance, the service was spot on and the food was of a very good standard, plentiful and all arrived hot and beautiful presented. My first time visiting here, definitely won’t be the last and I highly recommend it to anyone.

We (family of 3) visited on 4 July (see facebook) and could not believe our eyes when we walked into The Clock Tower on Market Way in Carmarthen. This place was a paradise for hungry vegans serving pizza, pasties, cakes, cupcakes, biscuits, chocolates etc. The variety and choice was quite overwhelming. You have to visit Absolute Treats to get an idea of how much different types of food there are here. There are a wide range of flavours to suit all palates, so get on down there. Well worth a visit and check out their website. :)
