Ty Castell in Gwynedd

Popped in for food with a friend on a quiet midweek in October - very well looked after and the food was excellent. Would recommend to anyone.

Lovely little restaurant with a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Welsh tapas - sounds odd but it works :-) An interesting mix of typical Spanish style tapas dishes (cod baked with a tomato and olive sauce) and some with a Welsh twist (cockles and laver bread). The young lady who served us was really helpful and friendly. Thank you for being patient and supportive with my husband’s learner level Welsh!

I love finding places like this ! Really good home cooked food. Hot, fresh, tasty with good quality ingredients. The place isn't fine dining and linen table cloths but it is absolutely worth a visit - the atmosphere is nice, not too loud - you can easily talk to each other - the service was great. I think what I liked most was ... the meal feels 'honest' - the presentation is nice enough but you really get the impression that real effort has gone into the food - someone really likes cooking and they are good at it. We will definitely visit again.

Had dinner while staying upstairs. Tasty, fresh food and warm, friendly ambiance. Especially good was cod, feta walnut salad and lamb kofta. Definitely will be back!!

The Welsh tapas is fantastic, great food and beer! As the locals say in Caernarfon: when in Caernarfon, go to Ty Castell... or Thai Castle? One or the other.

Just tried to have a meal at 8pm. 6 people in the the restaurant and we were turned away as the kitchen wasn’t prepared to cook for another 2! Apparently restaurants are having a hard time. No wonder why if they can throw away £100 on a meal. Just found an alternative place to eat and a very welcome warm attitude.

I was very impressed with Ty Castell. Third time I've been there lately and it does not disappoint. Food is excellent - generous portions, very well presented and delicious. Last week I stayed in one of the rooms - excellent too.

Absolutely gorgeous food with plenty of gluten free options, generous portions and high quality service. The presentation of the tapas was creative and classy, we loved sharing and trying new things!

Was looking forward to some good tapas.....shame. Ham and Cheese croquettes.....couldn't taste either. Just tasted like plain potato....no not bechamel. 2 for £8.....shocking. Smallest plate of Patatas Bravas.....no mayo. Teriyaki chicken were like you get from McDonald's.....£8.50....unbelievable!!!! Meatballs were nothing to write home about. Was very surprised to not even be asked how was the meal.....overall very disappointing ☹️

Early evening meal out with friends7.15ish pm, some items not on the menu, fair enough, ?busy earlier. What was served was plain or overcooked. In fairness, wernt charged for overcooked food. Won't return.

I did lots of looking online for a place to eat for my boyfriend's birthday. So glad I came across here. It was one of the best meals we've ever had! My boyfriend can be quite fussy & he loved all the dishes he ordered, especially the lamb Spanish style stew. Very tasty! The prawns were beautifully cooked & my favourite is always the goats cheese with caramelised onions. What a fabulous little gem you have, the staff & owners must be very proud. We look forward to eating with you again when we visit Caernarfon.
