Instead of taking responsibility for their clear lack of professionalism, they have chosen to attack me personally and dismiss my concerns entirely. Firstly, it's laughable that you’re trying to blame the delivery driver for your inability to get food out on time. If your food is “freshly made,” then maybe you should plan better to ensure that customers receive what they ordered, hot and on time. Don’t try to shift the blame when the reality is you dropped the ball. Claiming that I don’t know anything about your cuisine is not only arrogant but also completely irrelevant. I don’t need to be an expert in Kerala cuisine to recognize when food arrives cold and late. Your attempt to dodge criticism by flaunting your “15 years of experience” is pathetic. If anything, that experience should have taught you how to handle customer feedback with respect and humility—not with condescension and lies. I’m extremely disappointed by the fact that the you "owner" felt it was appropriate to call me at 9:33PM to question why I left a negative review. Instead of respecting my feedback and using it as an opportunity to improve, you chose to disturb my personal time, adding to the negative experience I already had with your establishment. Outstanding and authentic Indian cuisine. Family run: the service is exceptional and friendly. Even for Leeds, which does Indian better than most of the UK, this is unique. Worth coming a bit further from Leeds City centre. The food here will seriously make you smile. There's anything for everyone. My favourite: Chicken or Beef Khizi Parotta: meat cooked in three layers of Kerala parotta flaky bread, steamed in a banana leaf, making the meat tender and rich with flavours! And even more traditional dishes are cooked to perfection: I thought I had tasted good Prawn poori many times before: after having it at Trissur Pooram, I think I was wrong. Don't miss it!

Been here a couple of times now and really impressed with the quality of food and friendly and attentive service. There are a couple of other Indian restaurants further up Cardigan Rd but this is well worth the trip - it’s by far the most authentic with a lovely ambiance created by the music and decor. Not to mention the food: it’s clearly a family-run restaurant making seriously good South Asian dishes. So different to your average curry, with clean flavours, plenty of spice, but never overpowering, really fragrant flavours. Plus there’s plenty of original dishes, served in banana leaves or with a range of interesting alternatives to rice, from tapioca (cassava) to paratha to lentil-based breads from the region. A really rewarding menu that we’ll definitely be sampling more of. Highly recommended.

It's a good option to have some good South Indian food with family and friends

A friendly place with delicious Keralan food.

Waiting period is way too much and not something we agree even if they make it from scratch . We pre-orederd our meal 1 hour before and still then we had to wait for another 55min after reaching to get the food and we ordered. Not something we expect from a good place like this.

We arrived around 3:30, not realizing they take a break from 3-5 PM. Despite being incredibly busy, they warmly welcomed us and provided seating right away. As always, the food was absolutely delicious—finger-licking good! The only downside is that they’re not closer to where we live (Norton). This place consistently delivers amazing food that not only satisfies your taste buds but also leaves you feeling full and happy. Highly recommend!

Been here twice now and it's rapidly become a favourite. Reasonably priced and the food is absolutely exceptional. Had the devil lamb today and it was astonishing. The pickle tray and bhajis were also next level.

Preordered 9 items atleast 45 mins before arrival, and we received them an hour after we reached the shop, food quality is really good but the waiting time at this place is the worst - your patience will be tested to the fullest.

I had a very disappointing experience at Thrissur Pooram. I ordered food around 12 pm and they told me it could be collected within one hour. It took over two hours for my food to be prepared, went to collect the food in the restaurant and the staff immediately prepare everything within another waiting period of 30min which is completely unacceptable. On top of that, the service was terrible. The server was extremely inattentive and wouldn't even look at the customers to take orders or listen to any suggestions. Overall, a very frustrating experience. Definitely need to learn how to treat customers.

I visited Thrisoor Pooram for the first time with great hope on Monday 22/07/24 @ 5pm. We were the first customers. While ordering we clearly asked to a girl (who took our orders) looking age around 20-30 whether porotta is fresh made or not. She told its fresh made in their restaurant. They servered frozen porotta with a stange shape, which billed £4 per piece. Actually same porotta we are having at home every week. These restaurant porotta we get 20 pieces for £4.99(frozen per pack) at Asian shops. Just to have fresh porotta we went there. That too after late lunch. Coffee full of milk bits, over taste of corriander powder in beef curry... what a food dear. 3 Adults and 2 kids under 6, bill £63. We could have go Tharavadu instead. Value for money there. Regretting now. Thank you. Please don't miss their reply. My reply for that: First of all, please forgive me regarding that spelling mistake. And for other matters - We did not order anything extra dear. Porotta per piece £4 clearly written. We having same frozen porotta at home 2-3 days in a week, and we need to believe that's a fresh porotta :-). Do u think we never had fresh porotta? And we eating frozen porotta for the first time? I recently ordered in Deliverloo and was thoroughly impressed! The pothichoru and Kizhi biryani was bursting with flavor . The portions were generous, leaving me feeling happily satisfied. Overall, the experience was excellent value for money. I highly recommend checking this place out!

The food was good and amazing. It was good experience but the time when I pay them, they asked for tip. The exact word was " Would you like to give us tip". It was little bit akward for us. I think it is totally customer call to give tip or not. To ask for tip little bit sound not good. Otherwise overall experience was very good.

Worst ever experience from a Kerala Restaurant, Customer service is very pathetic, food we ordered chicken and beef biriyani ,it was the worst biriyani I ever had In the UK, only because we had it as we were hungry .And the wait time is like ages . We had an excellent meal here - authentic, freshly made family made food. Had a nice conversation with the young man (we were early). The location was unpromising and we were very pleasantly surprised when we came in.

Chatti choru is a must try experience. Really loved the atmosphere and the food, They do have a lot on the plate to seve. One of the best kerala restaurants in leeds.

I had food from north to the south of England and now I can say that I had the best food. May be it's not very modern and dosnt have looks but believe me the best indian food I ever had. If the food u eat reminds u of ur mum then that's the best u ever had.

Not the experience we expected at all. Was looking forward to going and trying some authentic Keralan cuisine, but was let down from start to finish. We had booked a table for 6pm and didn’t get seen at our table until 6.15pm to take our orders, there was only one other table in the restaurant at this time. Then we had issues with drinks, one person ordered a shandy but was given one of the Indian pale ales, when we asked about this they told us it was shandy, it wasn’t. Then they said he couldn’t have shandy as the lager was off…the rest of us ordered lager and got it. He gave up and ordered a coke. Thankfully this arrived. Then the food, poppadoms arrived at 7pm, we ordered a poppadom each and a pickle tray to share, we got 2 poppadoms each and 5 pickle trays! Then starters, they arrived at 7.20 and were quite good although the bhajis were fairly tasteless and the chilli chicken had lots of bits of bone in. One person’s starter didn’t arrive. Then the mains, warm plates were put on the table at 7.40, and it eventually got to 8pm and still no mains. 2 hours and we’d had poppadoms and a starter. We decided enough was enough, asked to pay for what we had and leave as we didn’t want to wait any longer. They said the food was nearly here, and then asked if we wanted it bagging up to take with us. No apology at any point, poor service, not asking if we wanted drinks throughout. Ended up in five guys with a delightful burger, quick service, good quality food and friendly servers. All in all, an experience we were all looking forward to that was a total let down. Still cost us £20 each for a drink, poppadoms and a starter! Would not recommend.

There was 5 of us at our table that we had booked for 6pm, after an hour and twenty minutes wait our starters arrived and one was missing after the waiter reading our order out when it was taken and it was all correct. Starters were nice and was looking forward to our mains. After been seated for over 2 hours in the restaurant the mains where still nowhere to be seen. Seemed no sense of urgency from the waiters until one of our party approached the counter and asked to pay for what we had eaten so we could leave as we had somewhere to be. Two tables one of 6 and one of 3 were seated after us and received there starters and mains before us and the waiter said due to the size of our group (5) ours would take longer even tho they manage to feed 9 people before they could 5 that only ordered 5 mains and sides. Genuinely enjoyed the starter and wanted to try the mains but watching two other tables receive all there food starters and mains before us is ridiculous…

Best South Indian cuisine in Leeds, Highly recommend

We had delicious tapioca with fish curry, and chicken biriyani. Authentic kerala cuisine, absolutely loved it!

A poor quality restaurant with very slow service. The tables were coated in a weird material making them incredibly sticky. My family had to unfortunately leave my grandmother behind as she was stuck to the table. Fortunately she did not mind as she enjoyed her meal. Some of the portion sizes were incredibly small and after waiting for over an hour to arrive, this was devastating news. Not sure why but there was also a rather alarming upper decky left in the roof of the bog which meant the bathroom for were not to a suitable standard. On the whole I would not recommend this establishment. EDIT: I clearly did nothing to the bathroom, what a pathetic empty threat. It would be such a shame if the police come and lock me up for commuting such crimes. Hopefully they don’t make me eat your disgusting food in prison :(

Probably the worst scran I have ever eaten. Unfortunately the food took 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive and as you can see in the attached image a portion of dog food arrived. The food was not cheap and left 8 of the 9 members of our party heavily disappointed. The saving grace of the experience was the belting music within the establishment, which brought the empty atmosphere up to a 3/5 star rating. Overall a terrible experience and would not recommend.

Visited last Saturday around 8.15pm with another family. When we went in there was another group of around 8 people and one more family. We didn't make advance booking, so we were told there will be 45 minutes wait for food. Although we had some initial hesitation, we then decided to wait for 45 minutes. Placed order around 8.30pm and the food was only provided around 9.45pm and that too only a part of the order after repeated requests. The rest of the order took another 15-20 minutes. I read the reviews only today and it looks like there are quite a few negative reviews for the same reason ! They have only one chef which is why they take too long. If you are hungry or don't have the patience to wait for too long, this place is definitely not for you. The food was decent and I wouldn't say it's either bad or great. Bit expensive and I don't think I will return or recommend to anyone based on my experience.

I ordered the food through Deliveroo and after a long waiting 1 hr and 45 min the food was dispatched after series of call to restaurant and Deliveroo help centre - the driver took another 40 min as he had another order to pick and deliver- finally received the food after 2hrs and 25min to my surprise the food was cold, and curry was tin curry. They are the worst restaurant in Leeds and stealing peoples money by selling something from frozen and tin food- they should be banned from Deliveroo and hopefully somebody should look at restaurant food hygiene

I came in yesterday and ordered poori and biryani, they said it would take time as there are reservation tables. To point out there were just 3-4 tables apart from ours. It took more than 1 hour for the food to come and the food was nice (not mind-blowing). The food was not worth waiting for an hour honestly. Other restaurants don't keep people waiting for an hour like this (even non reserved tables). If you can't handle the no. of customers then don't take them.

As an indian the worst biriyani i ever had.....

We visited this place recently and had very good experience with the food. Kizhi chicken biryani, parotta are too good and must try. Service took almost 40 minutes which is kinda late because we were already starving but the food taste was satisfying at the end. Portion is also good for the price.

This restaurant brings the diverse Kerala South Indian cuisine style of cooking to Burley in Leeds and it does not disappoint. It is situated about a mile out of the city centre on Kirkstall Road with Weaver Street serving as free off main road parking next to it. The layout is one of a long linear set up (formerly Meat is Dead premises) and delving deeper into the area affords reasonable quietness. We visited 6:00pm, when initially, no other customers were present. A great place to drink our mango/ lime apple cider (highly recommended) and to watch Leeds go by and start to relax after the working day. Kerala is 'The Land of The Spices' so if you order a spicy dish- expect it to be just that. We had popadoms and pickle tray starter. The pickles ranged from cooling to piquant and complemented the crisp light popadoms. This being our second visit, I noted that the menus have now been professionally prepared and presented with a more condensed, but nevertheless varied menu, with English explanations outlined below. My starter of Chilli Chicken was both generous and cooked with a spice base that beautifully built in flavour and strength as it was consumed. The lovely waitress, they all have impeccable manners and cater to you individually, pre-assured me that if it was too spicy she could bring a yoghurt cooler. My son's onion bhaji didn't disappoint either. It looked evenly cooked and was a generous portion. I could see the staff's attentiveness with regular glances to see if we had finished each course before they served the next. Our waitress regularly approached us mid course to check if everything was to our taste. My Railway Mutton Curry, served with Chapatis and butter garlic rice was tasty and the meat fell apart in the mouth. My son's chicken paratha was served in a banana leaf and was both generous in portion and rich in taste. Our bill was reasonable and I gladly left a tip. This restaurant is fit to included in the Leeds City well established dining experience and I anticipate it will go from strength to strength. The Kerala method of cooking brings new smells and tastes to the run of the mill typical indian food we have so much revered and become accustomed to. We will be trying further vegetarian and fish dishes in future. Well worth our 30 miles round trip to sample. Well done this restaurant- keep it up.

I had the worst experience at this restaurant. They asked us to wait for 30 minutes after ordering, but we ended up waiting for 1 hour and 50 minutes (12th April 2024, 7.50 pm to 9.40 pm) to get our food. While the food quality was okay, I wouldn't recommend visiting if you're hungry or have kids with you. If you have plenty of leisure time to chat and linger for hours, then this restaurant might be worth a visit. Response for the Thrissur pooram reply below: I do acknowledge that we arrived without a reservation, but upon arrival, we inquired about the wait time, and your service team confirmed it to be 30 minutes. Consequently, the party of 4 adults and 2 kids decided to wait. Had we been informed of a 2-hour waiting time due to our lack of prior booking, I wouldn't be expressing these concerns. If your policy restricts parties to no more than 4 individuals without booking (even though we were just 4 adults and 2 kids), why did you accept our order? You should have either declined service or informed us of the 2-hour wait time. There were numerous other dining options available in Leeds at that time for us to consider. As soon as we were seated, we placed our entire order within 10 minutes, around 7:50 p.m. Although my entry time to the restaurant was 7:40 p.m., we received our food after 2 hours. However, I mentioned 7:50 p.m. as that was when we placed our order. You may have multiple points simply to counter my feedback, but I urge you to consider it as genuine feedback. Reflect on it and strive to improve your service for your clients in the future, at the very least.

Just wanted to mention as I was in the same group - We accept the fact that we came without any reservations. That's why we did ask about the seating and the delay. Great restaurant, tried many southern Indian or kerala restaurants, easly one of the best, love the option of two menus; Normal and authentic menu.

The restaurant is spacious but can't accommodate more than 5 groups because I think they only have a limited number of chefs. The food was so good , proper texture and aroma 🤤 was good . In my opinion the desserts were soooo good and the starters to the next level . I could tell more about this place but I'll suggest each and everyone in Leeds needs to taste their food also they are available in Uber eats

I visited this place for the first time and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant is spacious and gives a positive vibe with soothing music and lighting. Suitable for small and large groups but prior booking is required. There is also a take away menu and available in usual food delivery sites. Parking is along the side roads and could be an issue during busy times. The food I ordered was sumptuous and served in good time. I felt everything was freshly prepared and healthy. The lunch menu offers authentic Kerala dishes and there are some speciality meals like Chatti Chor and Fish Curry Meals Our menu included :- Drinks : Mango Lassi , Kingfisher Beer Starter : Kizhi Porotta with Beef, Masala Bonda (v) Main : Fish Curry Meals, Veg Meals, ,Ulli Theeyal (v) Kizhi parotta with beef was excellent, spicy and a good portion The meals gave a good thali experience but would have expected a bit more veg dishes to complement the meat. I would also like the fish dishes to be more spicy. I would visit this place again to try some of the other authentic Kerala dishes.

Food was so good I teared up. The waitress suggested good food combinations. They even stayed open 90 minutes after Google closing time to accommodate us. The service wasn't the best but the food makes up for it.

Food wars very nice. Service was excellent. Definitely visiting again. Kerala parota- Disappointing. Was dry and over cooked Malabar fish curry was amazing Thilasary chicken Dum biriyani, chicken kizhi biriyani was very very nice. Kadala curry and butter chicken was average.

Amazing food, authentic experience and amazing chefs

Went to the restaurant for Dinner after visiting the Christmas Markets. Since we hail from Kerala we love to go to places which serve them. We had the Chicken fry and Natoli fry for starters. The chicken was good. We had Kappa and Fish Curry, that was very good. The chicken Biriyani was disappointing . The prices are quite high compared to London or Leicester, most of the dishes were around 12 to 15£ mark. We were a group of 4 and 2 kids and we were charged a 12.5% service charge on top of a 120£ bill

We visited this restaurant for authentic South Indian food. Almost all veg dishes are too sweet and only few Non-Veg dishes are good. I have ordered food from this restaurant earlier, based on my previous experience I took my entire team for dinner. But they disappointed us. Restaurants is charging 12.5% mandatory service charge. This service charger is not mentioned in menu shared with us. Restaurant is not upto the scale for what we paid. Replying to Restaurants questions: 1) Spice level was not mentioned while ordering- Yes, because spice level was not requested or shown in the menu while taking the orders. 2) While leaving you mentioned non veg was great - Yes, Still I say non-veg dishes are good. 3) Why feedback was given after 20 days? Is there any reason - I was busy in Christmas and new year holiday. So I gave feedback once I'm back from holiday. As a customer, I think I can give feedback anytime on my convince. 4) Charging 12.5% mandatory service charge - Thanks for your explanation. I just said it was not mentioned anywhere in the menu while I'm ordering. You have stated that service charge applies for large parties. I agree, but as per UK law it is not mandatory. But I'm not arguing on it. I just repeat it is not mentioned anywhere in menu. Note - I'm not here to argue, I just shared my feedback as a customer. Its up to you to admit to the mistakes. The curry here is incredible. We ate here not long after it opened. The service had a few teething problems when we arrived mainly due to things getting lost in translation. And the venue could do with a bit more atmosphere in terms of music perhaps. But the actual food is out of this world. Genuinely some of the best Indian dishes I have tasted.

Incorrect information on website. We drove in the afternoon to have a meal, the door sign also stated the restaurant was open and it was past 12:00 at noon. As we reached there, one staff came over and said they open only at 1 pm. She then turned the door sign to ‘closed’. If this was the case, they should have updated on their website so the customers are not getting wrong information. We had come to visit Leeds, found this information on the website and planned our day accordingly. This spoiled our day as we had to go elsewhere to find a restaurant.

Despite giving the food a 4-star rating, my overall experience at this place warrants only a 1-star review. Unfortunately, the subpar service and an agonizing one-hour wait for our food significantly dampened what was supposed to be an enjoyable lunch date. Upon entering the restaurant, we observed that only one other table with three patrons was occupied. There was no forewarning about the considerable delay in food preparation, leading to an unexpectedly lengthy wait of one hour after placing our order. We anticipated an apology atleast when we mentioned we had placed an order an hour ago but our concerns were met with a defensive response saying that "all our food is being prepared fresh." This defensiveness lacked the courtesy of an apology for the extended wait we had to endure. We had to remind the staff 3 times about serving us water. No cutlery provided despite asking many times. Once food arrived, one of the items (the chicken fry) was not hot. A disappointing meal overall.

Let me start by saying, I am Malyali and know what authentic Malyali food is. This is it really good, authentic and soul nurturing food. Unfortunately, the service was appalling. It took 70 mins for us to get our food without a hint of an apology and only weak excuses such as we make the food "fresh". They didn't warn us of the wait time when they seated us. We overheard them tell a larger group who came a few minutes after us that they couldn't seat them as they had 11 people and wouldn't be able to serve them. Maybe this was a one off bad experience but reading the reviews, it seems that others have also felt the same about the service.

We bought chattichoru... pothichoru..and chicken kizhi porotta. All these were very tasty. Good dining atmosphere.

The food was amazing , they had consistent quality and quantity throughout the 10+ times i visited. The wait was longer most times and it would be nice to get the food a bit more faster. Atmosphere inside is really authentically Kerala themed, but the location was far from the city.

Best Indian I’ve ever had ever. However, the table service is really really bad. The waiting staff pointedly ignored us, and a few other tables, several times, and took ages to bring anything. It’s so sad as the food is so so incredible! I’ll just be doing takeaway from now on but this place could be so much better with attentive staff )instead most are hiding behind the counter and trying not to interact. What a shame.

The front of house staff were friendly & welcoming, but we were left waiting aaages for drinks, starters, mains and finally the bill.. I don't mind a bit of a wait, but it was pretty bad service. Portion sizes were large, and the price was reasonable for what you got. The menu could do with spice level indicator; some dishes are extremely spicy, with no way to tell without asking. Even though there were only 4 of us, there was a service charge of 12.5% added, which wasn't made clear by staff on paying or on the menu.

Excellent food. The menu is a nice one and foods are spicy which gives Kerala flavors. Definitely fine dining.The service we received was so amazing and friendly.Highly recommended.

This place has the most authentic and delicious food from Kerala. I had the pazham pori ( deep fried plantain ) , idly and sambar ( steamed rice cakes with a spicy lentil stew) , parotta ( flaky Indian bread ) with the kerala style Indian chicken roast . It was so delicious and reminded me of the taste of food my grandma makes . The service was also phenomenal. I highly recommend.

Really good, authentic kerala food. I've been 4 times, each time it's the same cabbage thoran and fish curry. More variety in the dishes within the fish curry meal/chicken curry meal etc would be good. Additionally, it still takes ages to get your food even if you've pre-ordered

Food was spoilt, took an hour and 30 minutes to arrive and orders were missed out. Completely disorganised and terrible food

We waited more than 15 mins to receive the menu cards and then 45 mins for the waiter to come and take the order.. then they said after order it will take 30 to 45 mins more to get the food… so we left the restaurant. And prices also is expensive..

I went to this restaurant with the hope of having some good food. But it didn't come up with the expectation. In the name of Biriyani, it was a scam. Biriyani rice was not cooked well, with no flavour in the rice, The chicken also had no flavour at all. Felt some half-boiled rice wrapped with some chicken curry even though looked good.Shame in the name of thalaseri chicken biriyani. Then kizhi porota was soaked with one sea curry, and no porota was visible, even though the beef was enough it was so spicy couldn't be eaten. black pepper, green chillis all kinds of chillis are put. After coming from their had 2 Gaviscon tablets.The worst biryani I had in my life.😓😓

Went on a weekday evening with 2 others. Ordered Thalassey Biriyani, Kizhi porotta with beef, and non veg chattichooru, with 3 lime juice Total: £61 The food is exactly what you want it to be, hits all the flavor profiles and even the imperfections of something you would get back home. Will highly recommend the chattichooru, my Tamil friend got absolutely hooked on it. Food aside, the ambiance was nice, service was slow, the handwash and toilet was the same room which felt really uncomfortable. Would go again
