Visited Friday 12 th July two roast dinners cold roast potatoes asked for them to be warned up did it for us they asked us did we want any condiments we said mustard please fine served mustard then asked for bill they charged us £3 pound for the mustard which would be bad enough in any situation but served cold toasties and then charged for mustard and people wonder why restaurants and hotels are closing regularly I think £18 is enough for any roast dinner anywhere thanks

With the remodeling of the hotel, Treffner’s has become ‘The Dormy’ Restaurant. It is a nice space with golf course views. The menu is small, but has meat, fish and vegetarian options. Lovely cocktails and small, but adequate wine list. Great, energetic, young staff. They are special and deserve every thanks. I had a great evening and staff had a special birthday dessert. Really nice and totally unexpected. Many thanks to everyone.

A beautiful relocation within the Hotel is its newest restaurant overlooking the golf greens with lovely sunsets…The DORMY HOUSE. It’s a comfy, cozy space…wall-lined banquettes and nice comfortable chairs…a lively bar all make this a nice dining spot. On mild evening you can have a drink or a cocktail on the terrace. Menu is small, but perfectly formed! Great chowder! Burgers, sandwiches along with various pub classics including wicked fish and chips. Desserts are decadent…The Chocolate torte is worth a try. Drinks and wine are good and the staff are so helpful. Come for the sunset and leave with a full tummy

As hotels restaurants go, Treffners is a lovely intimate space. The COVID crisis has limited the menu somewhat, but the food covers all the necessary likes with fish, meat and vegetable options. The wine list and the cocktails are more than adequate and once again, I commend a generous, friendly and helpful staff. Tables by the window have putting course views and indeed all the tables face the giant panoramic windows. Whether you eat in the restaurant or at the comfy lounge bar, you will have an enjoyable evening. By the way, the restaurant serves a bountiful breakfast buffet, too. Great spot.

A lovely hotel (Hilton) restaurant. COVID restrictions mean a fairly basic menu, but it covers all the bases and the food is presented well. It is tasty and the young staff are all friendly and helpful. In all my visits I have never been disappointed at Treffners. The Lounge next door to the restaurant serves good bar food and cocktails. All very good.

Treffner’s os the signature restaurant of the Hilton Hotel at Templepatrick on the outskirts of Belfast. It has lovely views of the nearby golf course. The Covid Crisis has hit restaurants hard and they have had to adapt menus and tables to suit the ‘new normal’ and social distancing. Treffner’s has adapted nicely. There is a reduced, but ample menu, lovely cocktails and a fine wine list. The desserts and after dinner coffees are all worth a try. In short this is a good, family-friendly place to dine. It is made even better by the excellent young, eager and enthusiastic staff. Enjoy.

In a two day stay this January, I went here for both breakfast and dinner. The morning meal is splendid. The Ulster Fry is just the best meal you will experience. Perhaps not the most healthy, but certainly the most hearty and enough to set you up for the day. Don’t miss it! Dinner is very good. A fine choice of courses (Try the Sea Bass!) and a small, but more than adequate wine list. The desserts and liqueur coffees are all of the best. The young, enthusiastic staff deserve every congratulation. They are the best Northern Ireland can offer and a credit to my homeland. I urge you to come and enjoy.

Had a set menu booked along side a dinner/bed/breakfast deal. Due to this I wasn’t sure what to expect but the food far exceeded my expectations. The chicken liver parfait was absolutely delicious and the nicest I’ve had. My sea bass was also beautiful. The raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake was excellent as well - and I am not a dessert person! Accompanied by one of the best strawberry daiquiris ever, it was a great experience. All of the staff were highly attentive and extremely polite and friendly. Felt really well looked after by everyone we spoke to and a huge thank you to all of the lovely staff.

It's been a few years since I've eaten here, despite it being within walking distance so it was a good to go back after some time. The restaurant was fairly busy on Saturday night so the atmosphere was quite lively (the bright overhead lights didn't really add anything to the ambience unfortunately, it felt like sitting under a pair of spotlights). Lack of table cloths gave a slightly down market feel but the food was fine - not massive portions but adequate and nicely presented. £100 for a couple including a bottle of wine puts it in the mid range category. The staff were mainly efficient despite their obvious youth, a bit of a wait for dessert order to be taken. Overall, a decent experience. There's a campaign in the hotel where they're trying to get 10 out of 10, an ambitious target - I'd give it 8 out of 10 based on our recent experience.

Having stayed here on business for 2 nights, on night one I ordered Chicken Liver Parfait (which was one of the best starters I have had), followed by the Steak with Peppercorn sauce, I ordered medium and it was cooked to perfection with great flavours, then, not normally a dessert man, but tried the Cheese Cake, which too was absolutely fantastic. On night two, I had the Parfait again, which was equally as good as the first night, then so as not to be boring went for the pork, which was very good, but still not a patch on the steak - highly recommend a visit.

Three couples spent an overnight at this Hilton property (which overall needs much upgrading). The restaurant and bar were fine... nothing fancy... basic tables... not "white tablecloth". Very good breakfast with many options. My only negative is that the cut fruit is in preservatives and not freshly cut, although there are apples and bananas and organges. Attentive breakfasts staff. Dinner was fine... Potato Leek Soup one of the best ever. Attentive service. Steak and veggies fine. Bar is really basic and they were out of Kahlua (for Black Russian) and Sweet Vermouth (for Manhattans. I ordered a dirty martini and it was a mistake... they didn't really know what it is and served the vodka with black olives (and maybe juice). I didn't complain because I may not have been clear, but I have never seen black olives in a martini... and didn't think it needed an explanation.

I have been a long standing customer to the Templeton Hotel, I had my 21st birthday dinner there some 25 years ago with my family. Over recent years I’ve seen the decline in the shabby decor and have opted not to visit the hotel. However, having heard of the take over etc I was yearning to give the Templeton another shot. I was booked in for a table of 2 for 7.30. The food was acceptable but we had to ask for drinks twice and waited longer than usual for food to be served! At 9.15 less than 2 hrs from being seated, not from the start of service we were asked to move from the table after paying £63.75, for 2 starters, 2 main courses & 2 drinks. These are Belfast prices but not Belfast standard!! At the time I didn’t argue, my father is seriously ill with cancer & this was a rest bite night, I was taken aback but drank what was left of my glass of wine and left. It’s acceptable to have a table for 2hrs & that’s what we would have got elsewhere & we wouldn’t have had a wedding and children from it ruining the meal. I’m hugely disappointed and will be sharing this his review online.

I review thing by honesty, we’ve all herd of the Hilton hotels n how great they are. Well I been to many places and being from NI I find this doesn’t make a mark to what it meant to be. It’s a big name with only standard things. The beds are noisy the rooms are average and the gym n health sweat is that also. The pool is cold being a spa I was expecting warmth. The bar a just that nothing fancy but it comes to the menu n prices. £13 for a sandwich and £7 for a jawbox gin . Very little choice for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant isn’t open after 3 but people are still able to book afternoon tea . Very confusing when ur hungry. Very disappointed in it but it’s a thing of standard and they very low. I’ve been to place with lesser names n blow this out of the water.

I just want to reiterate my thanks to all the staff at Treffner's. They go out of their way to make sure you get a great meal. When I was there, there were professionals, young families with toddlers and teenagers all enjoying the offerings. Breakfast is a bountiful buffet - either Continental or more Northern Irish substantial and terrific. It will feed you for the whole day. Dinner is either more formal in the dining rom or a more casual affair in the cozy lounge where you can watch sports on the big TVs and nestle in the big soft sofas. Youngsters feel right at home here. All in all, I can find little fault with the dining options. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Stopped here with family for dinner and we really enjoyed it. I opted for a duck main and it was delicious, great flavours cooked well - the red onion mash was lovely, though i could have done with a tad more jus. The rest of the table went for steak and they really enjoyed this though the peppercorn sauce had far too much pepper, which made it incredibly hot - slightly less and it would have been far creamier and easier to take with the steak. The waiting staff were all brilliant - we've been before for afternoon tea so knew they were friendly but they really are fantastic and a real credit to the hotel, you would go back for the service alone.

With some trepidation, I ordered the cheese plate for dessert. Why with trepidation? Often in a hotel dining room, the cheese appears plated, fresh from the fridge and too cold, and with insufficient biscuits or bread. This cheese plate was excellent, room temperature, and had 3 very good/excellent cheeses, plenty of biscuits and was a pleasure to eat.

We had a small child with us who by this stage was quite agitated and hungry. When the food finally came 30-45 mins later the two burgers were mixed up which added to the disapointment. Took my wife here for the simple reason we had never tried it before. Expectations were high - this is the Hilton after all.First impression - tired and desperate for a makeover. Old brass halogen downlights are not just wasteful of energy they cry out old-fashioned. Yet our table was over-lit with a big bright white pendant. Woodwork is dented and untidy. Glassware is thick and robust with no elegance. Found some cracked tiles in the toilets.Staff - were friendly, great but a little uncoordinated. We were asked 3 times by different staff if our meals were OK. This and the intense white light somewhat dented the atmosphere. My request to have my bread toasted was met with "we don't do toast". Food - uninspiring. We normally go to Sleepy Hollow which is always superb and inventive. Here is your tried-and-tested hotel menu. Ended up having soup and chowder. Each was good but we were expecting, well, to be wowed by The Hilton. Same with the steak, well seared and good, but served with tobacco onions and a handful of sadly undressed rocket leaves - memories of flared trousers and disco music. But my wife's duck was clearly over-cooked. It was replaced promptly with no fuss, but why did it make it over the pass? Wine - mostly unrecognised but excellent. I particularly like that you can have a small or large glass.Dessert - wasn't sure but waitress recommended peanut butter cheesecake - we ordered just one. Tasted average but It was heavy, doughy and unpleasant texture. American diner fare.Summary - a sad way to part with £100. And don't think it might be adequate if the meal was part of an overnight stay - the menu clearly listed the items that were not part of any package stay and attracted 'a supplement'. Sorry Hilton, once and only once was enough for us.

Spent a few nights at the hotel (Hilton) on half-board.Firstly, the breakfast buffet is outstanding. The 'full-Irish' with beans, tomato, black pudding, eggs, sausages and bacon, numerous types of bread, fried or otherwise, cereals - healthy or chocolate-covered - juices and even the Continental (heart-healthy) variety with cold cuts and cheeses and lots of fruit...It's all there. It's the breakfast of champions and will do you all day...When it's time for dinner, there is a fine variety of starters, mains and decadent desserts to keep the pickiest of diners more than happy. It's all served with gentle courtesy and a 'Nor'n Irish' smile. For locals and visitors alike, I doubt you'll find much better.

Great service, friendly staff but the food was a bit tasteless. Don't get me wrong, the food was fine, just nothing memorable.

A great restaurant in a great hotel in superb grounds. We were well looked after. The staff were attentive as we were having a business meeting so they were unobtrusive. The food is always great and thoroughly worth the money!! The seared monkfish is well worth having!!

We used to eat the Sunday carvery lunch here regularly, but stopped as the choices had deteriorated badly. On return last Sunday I was delighted to find things had improved greatly. There was a nice range of salads for starter and with a prawn cocktail option. The hot starters had returned - ribs and chicken wings. Two soups were available, vegetable and lentil and bacon with rolls. There was a choice of three meats beef, turkey or Pork (I was surprised there was no ham). The vegetable selection was good - cauliflower, broccoli & carrot mix, ratatouille, carrots & parsnips, mash, roast potatoes. There was also yorkshire pudding, stuffing and the usual sauces. The dessert was buffet style with a tempting array of small morsels - you could have as many as you liked - profiteroles, chocolate torte, cheesecake, muffins and macaroons. This was accompanied by tea or coffee (although the chocolate mints served previously seem to have been discontinued).Overall the meal was enjoyable, staff courteous and pleasant, if a little slow at removing used dishes.I will definitely return now things are better

It was hard to judge this place by the very mixed reviews it has on Tripadvisor - but since we were staying at the hotel, we thought we'd give the restaurant a go;Great service, tasty food, well presented, nice atmosphere. Between us we tried a selection if starters and mains and desserts, and all went down well!In summary, although we weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised - recommend you give it a try!

The meal was great and at a reasonable rate, the girl serving could not have been more friendly, portion size was good but taste was wonderful.......... the downside was the children running round but did not distract from a great Restaurant

My wife and I regularly go to Treffners at the Hilton,it is always first class both in quantity and quality of the meals. The staff could not be more attentive and courteous. We will keep going back and would recommend anyone to go as well.Other members of our family have been as well and the staff would always take care of children who would not want the carvery.

I took a party of 15 golfers to the Hilton Hotel & Country Club for a golf outing and a meal in Treffners Restaurant afterwards. While the golf was enjoyable the food served up to us in Treffners was terrible. We paid £33 per person for a round of golf and a main course meal afterwards. For some reason all they could offer us was a choice of 2 meals, either Steak & Guinness pie or Roast Chicken both served with veg. The Steak & Guinness pie was the better of 2 poor options although the potatoes and veg were both tasteless and full of water, the Roast Chicken had no taste whatsoever, it looked and tasted as if it had been boiled for hours and the so called gravy looked and tasted like coloured water. After playing golf in very damp conditions the food was eaten as there was nothing else on offer, a request to have some chips was ignored. If this is the type of food served up to golfers then we will not be returning here again. I spoke to a manageress and explained our dissatisfaction and was simply told that she would mention it to the chef and to reception, there was no mention of compensating us for the poor quality food we were given or an offer of something else if we were still hungry. The only reason they were paid was that we had paid our bill before playing golf, otherwise we would have left the food and went elsewhere. I feel responsible as I had made the booking and thought that the Hilton would cater for visiting golfers by providing food of a high quality, I could not have been more wrong. They also know how to charge for alcohol, one of our players asked for a large glass of wine and was charged £11.50 for 1 glass, it was nothing special just an ordinary white wine. Advice to visiting golfers, play the course but eat elsewhere.

Just OK food, service is great - quite expensive for what you are given... would not make a point of going there to dine.

We ate here on a Thursday night and it was quite busy. For starters the belly of pork was good but fat could of been crispier and more sauce. The chowder was tasty but very little seafood in it. We both had the 10 oz sirloin steak which was lovely, plenty of it and a tasty pepper sauce. The onion rings are a must they where delicious. I would recommend a meal here if you can afford it.

There were only 4 tables occupied when we dined so we were hopeful for a quiet enjoyable dinner. We ordered a Bacardi and diet coke & a gin and tonic whilst we reviewed the menu. There was a discussion on the various brands of gin available so the waitress obviously knew the bar stock. My Bacardi did not taste correct so I questioned what it was. The waitress went to the bar and returned saying that the hotel did not stock Bacardi and I had been given rum instead. (!!!!!) Not a good start. The gin & tonic was served in a glass marked on the base, this was scrubbed off over table!!!I ordered steak as a main course and asked for some French mustard. I got English which was returned and French was finally brought to the table. A glass of red wine (Cabernet) was an amazing £9.70! Our dinner bill was £102.00 but I can honestly say it was poor value for money. On to Breakfast served in the same restaurant. Bear in mind this is a Hilton so you expect the usual wide choice. There was a distinct lack of choice as there were no yogurts, grapefruit or bananas. The table we were given was not clean and the surrounding floor was littered with crumbs and small bits of food. There were odd discarded wrappers on the floor which the waitress continuously walked past without picking up. The teapot was stained and had obviously not been washed. Butter was in short supply (as were the staff) and several diners were taking cutlery from other tables as they had been poorly laid. The chef did cook me a great fried egg though.Overall (read the review of the Hotel as well) this was a poor Hilton and I doubt I would stay there again

Friends meeting for lunch - it took an hour and a half to serve soup and sandwiches! Initially, those who ordered sandwiches were served stale bread, very cold, as if they had been made at least a day before and stored in a refrigerator. Ten minutes or more later, the bread arrived for the soup, which was also stale. All was returned. After another lengthy wait, the soup arrived. Fresh sandwiches were served to friends who had sent theirs back. After yet another lengthy wait, the bread for the soup arrived, by which stage the soup had gone cold and had to returned. Again, this bread was also very cold, as though it had just been defrosted (perhaps why it took so long to serve?)Finally, the soup arrived (the same soup re-heated). All of us ate at different stages. Thankfully, the company and chat among us made up for it.

Had never been here before and was more than pleasantly surprised by the service and food albeit and tad overpriced. A very pleasant, knowledable and efficient server (Kym) served us throughout the meal. The seafood chowder was a delight and my partner enjoyed the goats cheese . For main I had duck (one breast) and my partner haddock both of which were very nice. These were served on slate platters, which I would call into question as juices/sauces tend to overflow. At £23 the duck was overpriced especially as no side included. However that said, a good dining experience

Ham hock terrine chewy and stringy. Beef daube ok but meal could have been warmer. Pasta tortellini portion tiny. More had to be brought out. Manager apologised...obviously embarrassed. Sticky toffee pudding good. Wine expensive. One of us violently I'll after goats cheese starter and chicken main course. Wouldn't eat here again. Breakfast fine.

We recently dined in the Hilton's restaurant, on a voucher deal, and can heartily recommend it! On arrival, we were greeted by very pleasant staff, and served our included cocktail in the bar - a "Sea Breeze" I think. A peculiar muddy colour, but very drinkable. We then moved into the restaurant, to a very nice table, at the big picture window. Hubby had the chowder to start - tasty fish stock, with lots of fish, and a hint of cream - perfect. We also had some soda bread, made in-house - crusty outside, soft scented middle - buttermilk, perhaps? Delish!! I started with the ham hock terrine - a large slice of terrine, that seemed to be all ham hock, with no fillers!! Home-made, very sharp and crunchy piccallilli and little biscuits on the side, yummy! Hubby then had the Daube of beef - this can often be cubes of beef, but here it was a steak, served with mash, bacon and shallots, and an Armagnac sauce - the plate was cleared!! My main was pan-fried fillet of Hake, with saffron potatoes, creamed leeks, and crispy leeks. The creamed leeks under the fish, tasted like the most wonderful Hollandaise, and the julienne of crispy leeks on top provided texture - a taste sensation!! Another empty plate!! We then moved out onto the terrace, to finish our wine, in the evening sun. Altogether, a lovely experience.

Me and mum were up in Antrim for the day, and didn’t know where to get dinner. I am so glad we got the advice of Arcade Chippy. The food was delicious, and so reasonably priced too. Next time we are up that way, we will definitely be back.
