I'm very confused how this is a 4 star hotel ? Yes it is very pretty on the outside, period building obviously . But that's were it ends I'm sorry . The rooms are very small and hearing the toilet flush in the next room ain't funny ( thin walls ) . The staff are great , helpful and friendly , but there prices are way over the top . I had beef shin and mash with glazed carrots £24 . But the beef came shredded, that could be any part the cow , leave on bone if there's supposed to be a bone ... All in all we spent £80 in restaurant for NOT eighty pounds worth of food ? I think they need to lose the 4 star rating and downgrade a little ..? I'm not saying avoid this place but just be prepared to overcharged on everything as its meant to be a 4 star hotel with Spa . Shame really .

My opinion is influenced by having Inglewood Manor as a reference, which is next to Tre-Ysgawen Hall & Spa, the two hotels I stayed in during my recent trip to Wales. Upon arrival, we were enchanted by the beauty of the building and its surroundings, but this feeling quickly faded. As soon as we entered the lobby and looked at the general state of the reception, I had the impression that I had made a mistake in choosing this hotel.

Lovely hotel in the process being refurbished. Excellent breakfast with exceptional service from Backhti. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly - especially Pamela who gives the best spa treatment ever! The restaurant could be better - new menu that gives it a proper identity and a consistent availability of the offer would help. Having said that, we had a lovely stay and for the price we paid, really cannot complain. Good luck with renovations.

Over-sold but under-delivered! Having visited Anglesey and owned property there, I'd heard of Tre-Ysgawen Hall, so when my partner treated us to a week-end there for my 57th birthday, I was delighted to finally see the place. It's a lovely building and the gardens are very nice too. However, there's not much more of a positive nature I can say after a disappointing experience. This is NOT run as a supposedly four star establishment should be! I'll try to add in good points, but overall it's over-priced, shoddy and has distinctly average service and staff ethics. Don't take my word for it (although I'm a prolific Google Reviewer who gives lots of 5* reviews - when deserved) go and read some of the more recent Trip Advisor reviews about staff training and service standards written by other disappointed people. OK, so to kick off: We arrived at 2.55pm, having booked massages at 3.15pm. We were told (not apologized to - just told) that our room wasn't ready. Poor management meant that our room was still being prepared at 3pm - really!!?? We therefore had to traipse all the way to our room with our luggage, but then back to the Spa Reception because our room and the corridor looked like a bomb had gone off (see image)..this is at 3pm in a four star hotel!! What a bloody disgrace! We then had to change in the spa changing rooms, instead of being able to get into the room we'd paid £180 for! To be fair, the massages were great and we enjoyed the pool, although why was the 'Experience' shower out of order? Although the food in the restaurant was very good, I felt that it was over-priced. Our meal was £120. For that sort of money, I expect superb food. Then again, it was better than the breakfast, which was ok, but the mushrooms were tepid and the whole thing only average. I'll say it again: This is meant to be a four star hotel, but I've stayed in two star places with better standards than this! Another example of skimping was the 'marmalade' which had clearly been supplied by the lowest bidder...who clearly didn't really grasp the concept of marmalade. It lacked any peel and had the consistency and colour of old glue. Pathetic and very depressing indeed.. a fitting end to this review. I suggest someone in charge takes a long hard look at themselves and then gets a grip of this distinctly average hotel.

Hotel and the 4 poster room were absolutely gorgeous. Receptionist was extremely helpful. Dining experience let it down - needs a high end restaurant to match the hotel. Amazing place to stay and will definitely return.

Pleasant stay. Hotel was being renovated in parts. Room was pleasant but wallpaper peeling off in some areas, smelt slightly damp in places, but the bed was very comfortable ( 4 poster) and the room was large. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and hot... overall a nice stay.

The hotel is in a superb setting, and its clear to see that a lot of refurbishment is ongoing. However, the rooms are quite dated.

Nice place with decent spa facilities. Book way ahead though to make sure you don't miss out. The breakfast was disappointing and if you stay for the evening meal - skip dessert as these are no up to the same standard as the main meals. Otherwise, a pleasant stay and beautiful house/grounds

Overall, our stay at this hotel was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was exceptionally good, albeit with a very limited menu, and the pool/spa area provided a relaxing atmosphere with various amenities like the salt steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi. However, several negatives overshadowed our stay. The room was very dated and lacked cleanliness, with cobwebs, snot on walls, and dirty towels. Basic amenities such as tea bags, shower gel, and shampoo were not provided, and there was noticeable mold in the bathroom. The short-timed sensor light in the bathroom was inconvenient, and half of the hotel was under renovation, with most listed features closed or unavailable. Furthermore, the limited and small bar combined with the only open restaurant, and the noise from the kitchen during breakfast were detracting factors. The lack of visible cleaners, litter in the corridors, and unreliable WiFi, which rendered one of our phones unable to connect, added to the disappointment. In addition to the issues mentioned earlier, it's important to highlight the discomfort we experienced due to the cleanliness of the room. The presence of snot on the wall, particularly at eyeline and right next to the bed, was not only unsightly but also unsettling. This blatant oversight in hygiene greatly diminished our overall impression of the hotel's standards and attention to detail. Such lapses in cleanliness should never be overlooked in any establishment, especially one that prides itself on providing a comfortable and inviting environment for its guests. Overall, our two-night stay would have been greatly improved by attention to detail and clear communication about the ongoing renovations. Considering the price and misleading advertising, we felt the experience fell short of expectations.

I must I am impressed by this hotel. I like the antique mansion style. £95 on an Easter weekend including breakfast and spa is very good value of money.

Disappointing Experience at Tre-Ysgawen Hall and Spa Rating: ⭐⭐ I recently stayed at Tre-Ysgawen Hall and Spa for a night due to work commitments. However, my experience was quite disappointing and fell short of my expectations. Upon checking in, I encountered some issues as the lady at the reception couldn't find my booking despite showing her the confirmation and reference number. Eventually, she found my reservation, but it was not the smoothest check-in process. Moving on to the room itself, I was disappointed to find that the pictures on the website were misleading. The hotel is in desperate need of some tender loving care (TLC). The rooms were incredibly dated, and the bathroom left much to be desired. The black grout, insecure shower screen, and presence of mold inside the bath were major letdowns. In addition, there were cracked tiles, further adding to the rooms' dated appearance. However, one positive aspect of the hotel was its spa facilities. The spa was well-maintained, clean, and offered a good range of amenities. I appreciated the effort put into these facilities. When it came to dinner, the presentation was nice, and the food itself was tasty. However, the breakfast experience left much to be desired. The bacon was incredibly hard, and cutting it became a struggle. The sausages seemed to be microwave sausages, lacking in quality. Moreover, the breakfast arrived at the table within 5-10 minutes, indicating a lack of attention and care in its preparation. I left the breakfast feeling disappointed, especially considering that many others have expressed similar concerns. Despite the numerous issues I encountered, I must highlight that the location of the hotel is pleasant, and it has the potential to be a great establishment once all the rooms have been updated. The carpets in several areas emitted an unpleasant odor and appeared dirty, which could be improved upon. In conclusion, my stay at Tre-Ysgawen Hall and Spa was marred by various disappointments. The outdated rooms, lackluster bathroom, and subpar breakfast overshadowed the positive aspects such as the well-maintained spa and pleasant location. If these shortcomings are addressed and improvements are made, this hotel has the potential to become an exceptional establishment deserving of its positive reputation.

Please do not be fooled by the photos of this hotel. Decided to pay extra and go to Tre - Ysgawen Hall as it looked stunning with the added bonus of a spa. We got there and after confusion of where the Reception was,we finally found the reception desk. The lady toonk our names asked us what time to book our breakfast and showed us to our room. We were given no information on the spa, meals info, WiFi. We thought we'd find some info in the room nothing. Ended up getting online and looking it up. The hotel and room is very run down and out dated. We had a court yard which was grimy and full of cig butt's, so couldn't use. The TV was old and only get normal channels with NO subtitles which was no good for me being deaf. Decided to get a bath and chill, the water was lukewarm, the bath area was full of dirt/grime and the tile grout was also covered in red grime - all of which would of scrubbed up nicely if it was cleaned properly. The bed was huge - but we soon found out ut was 2 singles put together with a thin mattress topper on top but could still feel the joins of the bed which was uncomfortable. I went for a run in the morning so hubby went for breakfast alone and he was unsatisfied as it was all over cooked, cold and dry. We avoided using the hotel for food after that and went to the little town instead. The spa was ok, but to be honest all it was a pool, gym, sauna and jacuzzi there was no signs of actual spa treatments to be had which is a shame as I was looking forward to booking a little treat. We decided to leave the hotel early as it really did disappoint. Will we be back? Definitely not. If you do go, I'd advise not to go for a walk through the red squirrels 'woodland' as the back is literally a place they use as a dump for old mattresses and rubbish.

Don't let the nice photo fool you. Sadly disappointing venue. Tired and in need of a lot of tlc inside and out. Mould around Bath. Cigarette butt's all over the patio outside our room. The bed was so uncoumfortable i had a sleep next to the pool on a sun lounger. We had to book a time slot for breakfast which I didn't mind as I thought we would get a freshly cooked breakfast which was not the case. Food appeared to be re heated and dry. We stayed 2 nights and didn't go down for breakfast the 2nd morning due to previous disappointment. Robe in the room smelt musty. The spa area was OK to be honest. We left at 9.30 without eating on second day. Couldnt wait to get out of there.I would not go back .certainly not worth the £300 I paid for 2 nights. I will say the staff I spoke to were all nice.

We had booked Tre-Ysgawen Hall 4 months earlier as a peaceful escape in a country hotel. We had been aware that the hotel had recently undergone some renovations. So in January I phoned the hotel and was told that all renovation work on the hotel had been completed. 2 days before our stay, we received a standard welcome email, and there was absolutely no mention whatsoever of ongoing building work. If there had been, we would have cancelled our stay. On arrival, windows were being removed, there were workmen everywhere with loud radios blaring, and none of the main reception rooms were open. We had to ask the workmen how to get into the hotel, and they directed us to a side entrance which was dusty with cobwebs and filthy windows. The receptionist looked up at us and said "What name have you booked under?" No smile, no hello, no welcome. I calmly but firmly explained our dismay and asked to speak to the manager. A young woman sympathetically acknowledged our concerns and went to ask her manager about our request for a reduction in the fee of over £150 per night. She came back and said that they were prepared to offer us one free meal. I said that was not acceptable, and she disappeared again. 2 people then walked towards us looking very scruffy and antagonistic. The man, who was the owner, then started rudely challenging my husband, and when I tried to explain that he perhaps should listen to us instead of shouting at us, that was when he completely lost his temper and said "get out of my hotel before I throw you out. Go on, get out!" It was very frightening and deeply upsetting. My husband and I have worked in the NHS all our lives, often facing some very challenging behaviours, but neither of us had ever been treated in such an unprovoked aggressive way. Whatever you do, please do not book into this hotel. We then stayed at the Celtic Royal in Caernarfon and the difference was indescribable. What a relief.

Lovely setting, very accommodating. I was late off ferry and the hotel was over helpful to ensure I got the room to get sleep. Lovely room warm and clean. The showers lovely and hot. The breakfast staff are very friendly and welcoming. Chefs food was excellent and very nice presentation. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect for a one-night escape. The bed was comfy, breakfast and dinner were tasty, the spa was lush. Everything was reasonably priced and we were very well looked after by the staff. I especially enjoyed the decent-sized pool as I'm not much into the 'sit and sweat' spa facilities but find it more relaxing to swim lengths. It looked like the gym was good too (although that's also not my thing). We spent a bit of time exploring the Anglesey coast before and after our time at Tre-Ysgawen Hall, and overall it was an amazing weekend. It was our first time in Anglesey, but it won't be our last!

Stayed two nights for our Mini-moon. Staff welcoming, room lovely but just lacked some finer detail. A few slightly damaged things in the room and could have been better hoovered. Nothing that would have spoilt our stay. Spa area nice but cold and pool was not as hot as expected, shortened our time poolside Breakfast nothing short of excellent. We also ate in the hotel on the second night, should have eaten there on both. Menu looked small but the food was absolutely fantastic! Restaurant Staff wonderful

We booked this hotel for our anniversary, the staff were all great however the hotel is definitely not 4 stars, the rooms are outdated and the ‘spa’ is a public spa that gets very busy during peak times. There were no slippers available so my partner had to go barefoot - not what we expected from a 4 star hotel and spa. The gym is a mismatch of some really old equipment and some new cardio equipment. The evening restaurant and bar was not a vibe, it says the bar closed at 11pm but at 10pm we were asked if we wanted any more drinks as they were closing the till (this was also a Friday night). The hotel is nowhere near anything so we couldn’t even go somewhere else for a drink as we would have had to drive. The food in the restaurant was really nice but since we ate there for our anniversary meal the whole experience was lacking.

We stayed here for three nights at the end of Feb/start of March ‘24, we had a lovely time and would return to this part of the world again. The building and the surrounding gardens are incredibly beautiful, the spa pool is very nice and modern and we enjoyed using it every day, but the room that we stayed in needed an update. I’m not going to complain about it as the hotel are refurbishing a lot of the building currently. The downside of the room was it was dated and some of the curtains weren’t working correctly, but the bathroom was very nice and up to date, and it had a super large bath that we considered to be a lovely addition. The food was really good, (could be improved in some areas, but we aren’t complaining), and the staff were top notch throughout our stay. Would recommend to couples seeking some time to relax and to explore the beautiful island of Anglesey. .
