The California Hotel in Isle of Anglesey

Stayed at hotel for work , immaculate room and the staff very helpful !

Well... I checked out but turns out I can't leave. I was greeted well and there was plenty of room. Turns out I can visit any time of year too!

Excellent place to stay, super friendly too, can't fault it whatsoever

We holidayed at Brenteg glamping and this pub is the local and is in walking distance, clearly a locals pub, it doesn't open until 4pm, the bar area has a snooker table and can be a bit snug but it was friendly enough, decent drinks on draught, could do with an upgrade or lick of paint but that's me with a modern head on, the regulars don't seem to mind, there are outdoor booths to eat and drink in, a heated lamp would be good though to heat them in winter.

Amazing bitters in here and can watch the sports. Super friendly staff and patrons. I can't wait to go back.

Food is fantastic and great choice of beers and lagers staff very professional and friendly highly recommended.

The hotel is in a convenient location for access to Anglesey and surrounding areas. The staff were welcoming, room key obtained at the bar. The customers were quite loud (it was Friday night) but I couldn't hear them from the room we'd been given. I was very disappointed to find out last minute that the hotel no longer has a restaurant. There are many pictures and reviews here depicting the fact that there was a restaurant, menus etc. Finding this out last minute meant we had to check in later then planned as we needed to find somewhere else to eat! The hotel does allow you to bring in or order in takeaway to the hotel, though you must consume it in the conservatory and not in your room. The room was basic, double bed, convenient sockets to plug stuff in, kettle with tea and coffee available, and a walk in shower. Would stay again, as long as I'm not staying above the bar, and will allow time to get food elsewhere!

we stayed at the The California to spend some time in Wales. the Expedia website for the hotel says that it has a restaurant. It hasn't had a restaurant for several years we were informed. which made getting dinner the evening of our late arrival difficult at best. Overall the hotel is clean and quiet. the staff were helpful and friendly

Away from the coast and the usual tourist venues. Good banter, locals focussed. Darts, pool and sports. A propper pub.

Popular locals pub with two real ales and the normal selection of lagers etc. It is an hotel with I think seven rooms but wasn't doing food whilst we were there. It has a pool table and shows sky sports etc on several screens.

The room was clean, warm and quiet and it had the comfiest bed I've ever slept in at any hotel or B&B. The manager/landlord, the bar staff and the cleaner were all brilliant, really friendly and helpful. I was travelling alone but the locals in the bar were all really friendly people and there was a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely be stopping there again. It felt like a home from home except miles better, with great company, great beer and a really comfy bed. Overall it is an outstanding place to be!

Found by chance. Booked a break for myself and 4 others, was pleasantly greeted and key handed over (we booked to stay in the static situated behind hotel. It was clean and some nice touches with the tea coffee biscuits etc. Lovely toiletries left in the bathroom. Slept 5 of us 1 single room 1 double room 1 twin room Comfy lounge area. Great as a base for your adventures. The only thing was not keen on was it has bushes behind and at side and as it was windy they kept rattling on sides. But thats my problem. Would definately use again. Thank you.

I was on a nearby campsite and cycling around Anglesey, the Hotel California made for a good drink stop. Nice pub, with good beer.

Booked for bed and breakfast, kitchen shut so no breakfast or evening meal available, was not not informed till we arrived, bad attitude with the staff member about it, atmosphere so dull, no one was helpful or friendly here, room small rubbish, would not recommend at all, if it had zero star rating thats what it was worth

Booked by my wife so I had no say. Good place to use as a base and very cheap indeed. Check in easy enough just pay at the bar in the pub all rooms are upstairs through a private door. Right, we stayed in room 5 which was very small indeed. My room at home as a child was bigger and this room was for my wife and myself as well as my daughter on a trip for her 14th bday. The room does have everything you need eg, comfy beds, wardrobes, tea and coffee facilities and a bathroom and the beds were comfy. The bad points are you have to walk sideways to get to the bathroom as the gap between the end bed and the wall is very small. Theres mould in the room and bathroom around the windows which just looks bad and talking from the pub downstairs and adjacent rooms is very loud. Apart from this it's a great base to travel all around the island as we did. I wouldn't come back though 😣 sorry I just would pay a bit more and get something a lot nicer.

Nice clean cosy room but very noisy. The bar is directly underneath with minimal insulation. When asked if we could move rooms we were told simply no with attitude. Not great customer service. Fine if the rooms are on the cheaper side but these are mid range. Wedding reception on a Friday night that ran for quite a few hours which is fine but maybe they should let the guests staying for the night know when booking. As a hotel I would expect the primary focus to be the staying guests and making it conducive to a decent nights sleep. You can’t have it both ways.

Like being in space, no atmosphere. Shut till four PM in the week.

No food served here but nice touch with the several pods (sheds with no fronts ) Good choice of Beers .

Quiet friendly pub,near our camp site. Good dog friendly 🐕. Wish they'd start serving food again.

Very nice Sunday afternoon. Friendly and busy local with local prices. Also have Pernod 👍.

Lovely place to stay. Rooms where nice and the shower was amazing. Room service everyday keeping beds tidy and room. Tea coffee topped up everyday with a nice complimentary biscuit. Food wasn't being served as I stayed out of season but looks amazing in the photos. Close to the beach and other amenities ie shops and restaurants.

Stayed at this hotel must have had the smallest room possible nobody there when we arrived didn't stay for the 2 nights didn't even stay for the breakfast on the first morning it's a local public house wasn't felt welcome would definitely not go again🤨

Comfortable and friendly... pity about no evening food available and if you're over 6ft let them know (low beams 🙄) but well worth the money 👍
