No tenía sabor.

A really nice family restaurant just off of Oxford Street, we actually stumbled upon it and we were lucky. The food was very tasty and plentiful and the lady who served us who seemed to be the wife (as it was a family restaurant) was from Parma, Italy. Great place! Would definetely recommend it.

Despite the reviews below, we had a good experience and all four of us enjoyed our food very much. The servings were generous and well presented, the wine ok and the service pleasant and swift.I had the seabass which the chef grilled as the oven had broken(!!) - it was excellent, really excellent. The place is not posh, not over-priced and the food is pretty good value. That was our experience.

After having a reasonably good meal in another Italian restaurant in James Street we thought we could try this one, too. A terrible mistake! During the ordering process we had some problem to get the appropriate explanations for the food descriptions, and yet we stayed. The waitresses, definitely not Italian, were unhelpful and rude. Incidentally, about the Italian nature of the place, it did not seem to be there. Starting with minor details in the décor and the music. What music? they connected their system to a local radio station transmitting some kind of a chat program and irrelevant music. In an Italian restaurant! When the food eventually arrived, delayed of course, none of the 5 plates ordered was near acceptable standard! Lamp chops, with plenty of fat, that needed a sharp knife to cut whatever pieces of meat could be found. All vegetables overcooked almost to the point of needing a spoon to pick them up. The Spaghetti alla puttanesca had all the ingredients there, but never cooked or blended together in any way, just thrown in together! The parmesan grated cheese was served from a big bowl with a big spoon, not freshly graded! And you should never ask for more, the waitress will be very upset and will throw on the table a smaller bowl with traces of grated cheese. If you need to complete your meal with a coffee and a sweet, DO NOT DO IT! The filter coffee is reheated in the microwave and the Tiramisu should be consumed by humans! (sorry, I do not wish to be cruel to animals in any sense). We left wandering what they do with all the food left in the plates! As far as they were concerned, they did not bother to ask why most of the servings were hardly touched.

This restaurant is in the exclusive James Street location where there are numerous other eateries. The whole area has a feel of cosiness and ease about it with outside seating at most restaurants and choices of lots of different cuisine. So, the choice of this restaurant was, on reflection, something of a mistake. It was a little to cool and liable to rain anyway, to take advantage of an outside table so were ushered in next to the open doors along the frontage. That is, a single table wide and an extra amount for the actual door itself. My first port of call was to the toilet, in something of a panic. Strange how the bladder of older men takes control of you and leads you to places best not visited. So my first impression of the internal parts of the place was the toilet facilities.I know, and appreciate that these don't get priority in space, being in London. Space is expensive. However the facility was somewhat less luxurious than a bucket in the garden. It was not only cramped but not all that cared for. Maybe not dripping with dirt but in need of a good clean up nevertheless. The table rocked. I mean, more or less spilled soup out of the dishes when you leant on the top. The menu was typically Italian but not vast. It was marginal but provided choice enough so that you could get stuck into something at least.I had the liver and onions (typical Geordie Italian I am) and can't complain about this. It was succulent and very tasty but JUST NOT ENOUGH. It seems to me that most, shall we say, pretentious restaurants give less value for money because they think they are some sort of Michelin Guide recommended eatery. They are not.All in all I can say without fear of contradiction that the standard of the food was very good albeit not overly generous, and from a limited menu.My own personal feelings though are, if the loos aren't up to scratch then maybe try somewhere else as God knows what the kitchen is like.

Absolutely disgraceful, 4 hot chocolates were 68 pound!!! The hot chocolate was cold and was dripping down the cup. Way too expensive, service was so mean shouting at us saying if we are not a client we can't use the toilets. So we sat down and then served us 4 cold chocolates and then left without saying anything!!! I wouldn't recommend this place I hope this place gets shut down.

I know Caprese is now permanently closed and as a regular customer before this change, this is very sad for me. My friends and I loved the place, with its very friendly staff, high quality drinks and coffees, and delicious dishes that were by no means your generic london Italian. We had such lovely meals at Caprese and would like to thank all the staff for this. Ciao for now :(
