The unfortunate happenings in the surrounding areas he this a bit of a task to gain entry. But it's still definitely open for business. Cajun chicken Soup for starters, splendid texture and taste was just spot on. The accompanying sandwich was decent with a great amount of tuna. My friend claimed the last piece of cheesecake, but all was fine and a fresh one was up for grabs. And the little known titbit that the first piece Is always huge as it's difficult to prise out. It's was huge and the taste was immense. Can't compliment this place enough, and the owners are a credit.... definitely not a case of 2 many Cooks spoiling the broth.

Lovely cafe right by the playpark, beach and car parks. The staff were excellent, atmosphere was friendly and warm (toasty log fire), and the cakes and coffees were delicious. We visited twice on our short break in Montrose, and would have happily gone back if we'd stayed longer. Great place.

First time visiting today Due to the varying problems on our local beach. We came to Montrose with the dog today. We have been past it many times. It did not disappoint. I had the Soup of the Day Cream of Mushroom. Followed by Baked Beans and Cheese Toastie. Which was delicious. My mum also had the Soup and a Toastie. Both delicious also. The dog enjoyed having a nap outside. It was fully booked indoors. Would definitely advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Otherwise the dog friendly seating outdoors is nice. Plenty of Car parking spaces nearby. Public Toilets are within walking distance. Although they were out of action today. Would certainly recommend this place. Especially if you have a dog. Would certainly go back again.

Visited for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is family friendly — had two little ones. We had excellent eggs Benedict with salmon and also maple banana pancakes. Home made deserts looked great but we had no room left. Friendly, helpful staff. The place is located right accross the beach and next to a beach kids park, so excellent for outing with children.

On a holiday to Montrose and we sat in and ordered a fish supper, tasted lovely all freshly made. The best we have had in a long time. Would highly recommend the meal. Kai told us he is changing the name to Montrose fish and chips so look out for it on the High Street.

Reading all the review I was really looking forward to our visit here. The staff were friendly and the place clean and tidy. I wanted a hot quiche but was told there would be a 20 minute wait so we both had cock-a-leekie soup . There was chicken and bit of leek but this was a very thin plate of soup with no real substance the ratio of stock to the other ingredients was poor. I was also upset by the fact that they allow dogs in the cafe. There was one sitting with it's owner in the corner and it whined all the time we were there . The owner did not seem to be bothered by this .

What a great museum, too much to see in an afternoon but we gave it a try. Love the roof terrace and the cafe as well. Lots to enjoy here in one of Scotland finest museums.
